Cozy little place that's an old house turned into a bar. A little away from the regular midtown crowd which is nice.
Wonderful little bar I stumbled upon. I'd definitely go back!
Cool spot. Free taco Wed. Cheap drinks and Internet jukebox
My favorite bar and the bartenders are awesome! Love the atmosphere!
I enjoyed this local bar. The local folks were pretty awesome as well!
Solid comfortable. Wide selection of beer, Good atmosphere and prices.
Good cozy vibes, inside is a house like seting with bar no food served butvthere is a taco taco next to it thats very good.
Oh this tge spot 👌 😍 😋 to have fun 👍 😁
Super great place! Very dog friendly, reminds me a little of Austin. I loved it, staff is super friendly and helpful.
A speak easy awesome staff and one of a kind feel, it's like a college house party , meets New Orleans right in midtown Houston. No other place like it
Very comfy and cosy bar with a good atmosphere. The kind of place you go where you know you'll have a good time no matter what.
I always have a good time here. Nice jukebox, great drinks, great bar with excellent customer service.
First time was the charm absolutely love this place and the bartender had excellent service and the staff was great on recommending drinks plus the music was great and the prices were great. I strongly recommend komodos after work
One of my favorite, low key places to hang! Staff, music and atmosphere is down to earth and welcoming!
1st time here. Cool spot. Seems like there's a lot of regulars. Everyone was friendly. Definitely plan to return.
When here today has a great time everyone was so welcoming!! Will be back... nice and friendly atmosphere.
Located in an upscale neighborhood. Manicured landscape and food truck located out front. The crowd that spilled out was thirtyish.
It's a very laid back place ! I love the vibe and the bartenders are cool. What's not to like?
Small mid town bar. Very friendly atmosphere.
I have been in here a few times over the past year and it's always a good time crazy cool layout I recommend
It's cool for what it is a house bar
Good place to chill and relax with some friends. Very low key atmosphere with hilarious customers and good music. Never a dull moment.
Evry single staff member here is amazing. Such a great small bar with a family feel. Great place to hang and make friends
Amazing! This is my bar!! Friendly faces. And having Best Street Tacos #1 in their parking lot is perfect!
Coming to midtown? This is my home base when meeting friends for a night out! Super chill, great drink prices, lots of parking, and my ppl here are fun as hell!
Being a midwesterner here in the big city of htown I loved the down home feel of the Komodo Pub... It was the best inner city home town country bar escape I have had since in the city... They have a bartender there named Xavier and he is not just a regular bartender he's a craft mixologist... He made me a Jameson Ginger Mule that deserves to go on the food network... it was amazing, and not only that on Weds nights they make chicken and black bean tacos from scratch for all the customers who are drinking and socializing 🤗🤗🤗🤗.. So I not only got my home town feeling but some good from scratch down home cooking with some amazing cocktails... Xavier gave me the time of my life.. Thanks Xavier and thank you Komodos... I will definitely be back again... Thanks for the Good times Ahmed No Egos
Chill bar that's worth stopping for a drink or two to get the night started or to finish the night out with a nightcap. If you are in the area, check it out - you will feel at home.
Great house bar in the middle of Midtown. Craft drinks, fireplace, indoor and outdoor tables. Food can be brought in. Lots of great music on the jukebox. Great Sunday funday stop in. Draft beers available and several couches. They have a big screen TV but not really a sports bar unless local events are going on. Friendly staff with nightly specials.
Feels like drinking in your own living room! Super comfortable dive bar, one of our favorites! Don't miss the taco truck next door, it's the best!
The bar that has it all. Wanna sit at bar and have a drink? It's there. Wanna sit on the couch with your sweetie? Check. Wanna sit on the porch and have a drink? Affirmative. Good characters. Yup. Good service? Absolutely. They'll earn your money.
Easily one of my favorite spots in all of Houston. Very laid back which is very counter to almost every other place in Midtown. Bartenders and service are great. If your normal drink is a Jack and Coke, this is easily the best in area. If you think they are all the same, try a few then come here. You're welcome.
Nice and chill atmosphere. Great customer service. Great drink price points.
I love this place because its like sitting in my Grandparents old house. I love how they have left the kitchen, living room and porch areas almost as they were. Great place to have a beer.
We love this bar. Don't get to visit it as often as we would like due to distance. We prefer to go early afternoon to beat the crowds.
I mean, same as always. Xavier was a beast. Iggy filled me in on his pop up, and this was a great place to watch the NFL Draft
Always have a good time here! The staff and customers are like one big happy family. It's fitting with the house party ambience.
Awesome find! Stumbled upon this place Friday night after finding out the neighboring bar next door discriminates. Should have came to Komodos first. But you live and you learn. The two Friday night bartenders were great. Quick service, drinks for a great price. The people who were already there drinking were fun and friendly. Overall great atmosphere to have fun and enjoy your friends. Highly recommend. A+
Enjoy coming here beer is cold and I enjoy the vibe... so that's why I give it 5 stars. 🍻 But one thing I noticed and didn't like was the bartender lady had a black shirt on and she was full of dog hair on the front of her shirt well all over really. And she was gonna go behind the bar and mix drinks to serve to customers. I was glad I drink from a shiner bottle, all I could think about was how many dog hairs fly in the drinks when she's doing all that shaking and mixing 🤮😱
Go on Wednesdays after 8, they make really good tacos for 25 cents! (Buy a drink though so they don't stop doing it)
New favorite small local bar in midtown! Very casual and cozy. The kind of place you can really get to know the regulars on a weekday evening. Quick bar service and a limited amount of liquor options, but still tasty drinks. There is a small parking lot but plenty of places to park on the street nearby.
First time here and it was a pleasure! Bartender was Xavier and he was a great host! He made the best Gin Mule I've had!! They had crawfish on the patio that were bomb also!! I'll definitely be back with the Mrs. Very laid-back patrons were friendly, also very diverse. A great time.
amazing atmosphere! feels like someones house and the bartenders make it feel like home :)
The environment is great! Best Street Tacos definitely lives up to their name, they are amazing. The staff is so welcoming, and provide such great service. The bar has such a phenomenal vibe. Hands down one of my favorite bars.
Their Wednesday specials are off the chain. $.25 cent tacos and $2.50 sandwiches. The bar tenders are hit or miss. A couple are cool.
Pretty cool place my neighbor and I hung out for the Arctic Blast and hung out in the snow. Place was actually open to say the least, lol and very chill vibes. I experimented with first time mixed drinks, shots and the bartender did his thing. Great job explaining what he mixed up for us..So now I can order again Yummy !!!
SJ was great bartender friendly yet and professional, lived hear here during law school dor 3 years at Houston, love this pub.
This is a very chill spot for drinks with a small outdoor patio. Inside is cozy, with a cheers like vibe. Drinks are cheap. No food served inside but it is next to a columbian food truck. TouchTunes. Usually can find 1-2 chess games being played (boards are stored with the bar tenders and are behind the bar). Parking can be hard to find on weekends
Decent drinks. Outside seating area not so bad. Charles is pretty cool. Nice happy hour spot while you're waiting for traffic to die down after work. And of course, before you head out, visit the food truck right outside and fill the belly.
This is a great bar in the midtown area. The beer is cold and the drinks are strong. One of my favorite stops for sure when I'm in the area. The bartenders are always on point. Good specials during happy hour as well. The food truck outside also has some amazing food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The juk box also has a great selection of music. Patio outside has plenty of chairs and shade to enjoy a nice Sunday Funday. Keep doing your thing guys!
Really cool bar, great deals, low key. No pearl beer on Texas night, so downed it a star.
Cheap drinks. Terrible jukebox. Staff is nice enough. Best tacos outside. Don’t ever change. Except the jukebox. Don’t put money in the jukebox
Classic dive bar, local spot for industry people and always a good time! Great drink prices and bartenders!
Building is old and nothing fancy, but the staff here is awesome. They are always friendly and the drinks are great. Will definitely return.
This place is a very cool concept. Old house turned into a bar. Seating and atmosphere is comfortable. Digital jukebox is pretty handy, everyone can play their own taste of music. The bar staff is really quick to get drinks served.
nice little dive bar with cheap beer that looks like someone’s living room. staff are nice and place is laid back
Probably the best local bar. Very relaxed, more like drinking at someone's house than a bar. They often make food and will know you on a first name basis before long.
Great neighborhood bar with plenty of regulars. Fun place to chill and friendly bar staff, but the music is always too loud to have a proper conversation.
Drink prices are decent, atmosphere is more grunge than my taste but the service is awesome and the location always makes you feel like you are at a kickback house party
Great chill environment. Not overcrowded and you can hold a great conversation without yelling, reasonable drink prices, big screen TVs to watch sports. Only negative is they don't serve food but who goes to dive bars for food. I definitely recommend a visit.
Xavier and Jay are probably the best bartenders this establishment has to offer. It's basically an old house with a bar inside of it. They have a very good juke box with some very very good music on it. I recommend coming here for happy hour and then simply walking to another bar. Nothing better than walking from bar to bar in this city. It has a very nice patio area. It has good parking. If you want to park on the streets remember that parking on the street is free after 6 pm.
First time visit. Seems like a place where regulars make up the clientele. Beer was cold the music was jamming...it was late 80s and 90s hip hop during my visit. The taco truck out side smelled delicious. Dog friendly patio. One of those places you should probably visit especially if the bigger bars in the area are crowded.
I visited on a Thursday and was disappointed by the bartender’s attitude. I was in the middle of ordering two drinks when she interrupted me to check an ID. I stopped to show it to her, but when she returned, she condescendingly told me, 'You could have asked for them at the same time.' It was frustrating to be talked down to for a delay she caused while I was trying to be cooperative. I’ve been to the other bars associated with this group (Dino’s Den, and Lizard’s pub) and have always had great service, so this interaction was a major outlier.
Small and cozy bar. Love it
Pretty nice environment if you’re looking for some place that’s got more vibes than quality.
This is a really cool little spot. A house converted into a sweet hangout. Diverse crowd and busy tacos truck next door. Drinks are good but the jello shots are a hit!
Nice local feel and good place to drink and relax. And keeping the old house feel helps too.
Nice place, very clickish and local crowd. Good beer, lots of colored lights inside. Could be fun later in the week.....
Love this bar and the staff except for the female manager who works there. She has to be the most unfriendly or kind person I’ve seen in all of my time going to bars. She’s decent to men, but rude to women, especially if you aren’t a regular. I’ve brought multiple people to this establishment and even when speaking to other patrons, they’ve all said the same. In reading these other reviews everyone seems to agree that she is a major problem. The guys are great, but this heavy set lady with brown hair is a miserable human. Kudos to the staff who has to work under her because she seems like a complete nightmare to work for.
Had a good time . The only thing was the bartender wasn’t very nice. On multiple occasions she had an attitude. At one time she laughed at the request I wanted for my drink. After asking her how I’m suppose to request the beverage she ignore me and still ignored my request.
Cool but could have been better. Morgan (bartender) was not inviting and impatient. If you serve drinks for a living then be ready with recommendations not attitude to your customers.
Been many times and it's a very laid back back bar. It's basically a house that has a bar in the middle of the living room. The staff are alway good but that's what you'd expect in midtown. They have a happy hour on local beers(which I think changes) and the spirits aren't heavily priced. I'd probably give this place more stars if they didn't just play pop music all the time.
This bar does not serve food and has not for several years. They also said they do not have a website. February 8, 2024
Weird spot. Lots of bathroom snorters and assorted weirdos. Place for burnouts.
Jay and Xavier are awesome bar tenders and are quick , friendly and professional. There is a lady bar tender there , I believe Morgan , who is extremely rude and has loads of attitude. I know im not the only one who feels this way as Ive spoken to a lot of people who frequent the midtown establishments around that area and have exactly the same thing to say about her. This is why a lot of people I know personally have stopped coming here.
Bartender was super rude and the drinks sucked. She had an attitude for no reason. The place is cute. Lot of weirdos tho.
Prior to last night, I had been there a couple of times before. As one of your other reviewers said, 'Jay and Xavier are awesome bar tenders and are quick , friendly and professional'....very cool. Last night was a completely difference experience. There was a woman bartender (heavy lady with glasses) who was the rudest, most unprofessional server I've experienced in my life. The drinks were horrible and here attitude was undeniable. While being friendly to her regular mates, this woman made it clear that we were not part of the "cool" crowd and not welcomed there. Just to be sure that I was doing my part, I put down 100% tips on both my orders. This made no difference and there was not so much as a simple "thanks". Seriously, in my travels over 45 countries and thousands of bars, she was the nastiest server I've ever run across. I will never go back.
I used to go here all the time back when I was in my late twenty's and I loved it. Well, I went for the first time a few weeks ago in over a decade and the woman that was working behind the bar didn't just let me know how much she hated being there, but I feel like she purposefully gave me jager without the red bull and walked away. I stood there for 15 min waiting for her to come back. She was behind the bar serving other people, but I didn't touch my drinks, tried to get her attention when I saw her glance at me, and even motioned for her to close me out. She wouldn't come back. I ended up giving the shot to a friend, drank less then half my beer, and had my friend that's a regular close my tab. I honestly feel like I wasn't a priority because she didn't know me. I still tipped 30% but seriously!! The only reason that I'm writing this review is because I was missing a splash of red bull, and y'all know what? She charged me for it.
Bartender served at least 3 men after I walked up to the bar. He completely ignored me as a women trying to order drinks. Really, is it not 2021?!
The time is 2:08 PM I walked into Komodo pub I was immediately disgusted with the girl behind the bar extremely unprofessional extremely rude from the very get-go the amount of customer service that she has to offer is very disgusting I will be posting the same review on yelp and all other social media pages as well come out of pub is one of the worst bars in the City Of Houston and I’ve been to just about every single bar in Houston and this is got to be the worst part in Houston the worst customer service just out rages and disgusting
Great atmoshphere however, when it gets busy the bar tenders cater more to the regulars not the new people, we were constantly overlooked for service and very hard to close out your tab, pay as you go and you might be fine.
Seemed like a decent dive bar, but the female bar tender was extremely rude to us. Several reviews below talk negatively about the same heavy-set, brown haired lady.
I fully understand bartenders hate when you split a check but this bartender very loudly complained to another bartender and two guys sitting at the bar about us wanting to split a check 5 ways, she said this was the first time she ever had to do this and that we should just have one person pay. Her contempt felt extremely racially charged , which is not uncommon for midtown. I later spoke with another bartender about this outside and he completely dismissed me and also said he has never had any complaints about her before.
Not gay friendly. . . (Can’t believe in 2025 a guy can’t hold another guys hand without getting kicked out)…
The bar is in collusion with a tow truck driver. They pick and choose who to tow without any violations. The bar owner cut a deal with the company on Brittmore rd to pay to tow cars. DO NOT GO HERE !! TRUST ME. They have their own parking lot and tow from their own parking lot.Figure that out.
This place is unsafe if you're an LGBTQ+ person. DO NOT COME HERE. GO TO ANOTHER BAR. If you really want a dive bar with cheap drinks and a safe environment, go to Grand Prize.
I’d give 0 stars if I could. RUDE beyond words! I understand that I misplaced an ID but at the same time to announce to the rest of the bar was rude. He could’ve come back to me and say “hey, this is not OK!” But instead, he wanted to involve strangers. RUDE
Dismissed Felt unwelcomed Unhealthy management. Komodos is not a bad place but the environment that Morgan is entertaining is toxic. Haven't been there in a while but definitely will not return.
Though this place had a nice laid back, great patio and fire place to hang out for the heat turns out, the bartender there thought it be great to take advantage of people drinking and not noticing the next day. Ordered two beers and tipped 25% bartender though they could make that 50%. Funny thing is they ask you to sign a receipt and I also always take pictures, so excuses such as not being able to read won’t make sense. I will post a picture of the receipt as well.can’t remember her name but it was a lady bartender, should be on the receipt I posted.
Got very racist nasty vibes from both bartenders while telling us their policy. Didn’t appreciate the disgusting attitude they could’ve simply told us and we would’ve respected it no need to be disgusting about it. Will not be back
The food is decent but the staff are rude, off-putting, and don't respect the community. There are much better options nearby.
I went to Komodo’s as I am new to Houston and the night I went must’ve just been somebody’s bad day. I work in the service industry and personally always tip no matter how small the bill, that night my friends and I were called out by the bartender. He asked us “what you’re not gonna tip? of course” when he had just poured our shots a whole minute prior. Won’t be coming back as it was such a negative and unfriendly environment.
Bartender (heavy set woman) at 1:00AM on 3/14/25 was rude and had terrible customer service. This kind of interaction makes it hard to come back. Think twice. Other reviews reflect badly on her as well. Why have no changes been made in reflection of these reviews?
I've been going here for years and this place has always been a great neighborhood bar, however, the big girl at the bar has ruined so many evenings I just can't go back anymore. I encourage people to try this place, but if you see the big lady, turn around and find another great nearby bar. Otherwise, enjoy this great local spot without the snearing and snarling that this very unhappy person has brought to Kimodos.
