What a cool spot. Not only do they have bakery things, they also have smoothies, beer, refrigerators with to go breakfasts and lunches. Staff was nice and helpful. Food was great! (Got the early bird breakfast sandwich and the PB and Joe smoothie sans coffee) I definitely would come back
Mid morning on a weekday was busy but not crazy. It reminded me that we may be in upstate but we’re still in New York. Reasonable prices, solidly good food, tons of choices. Great cold case options too.
Absolutely fantastic food! Well priced, nice atmosphere, tons of things to try. Their baked goods look fantastic, I tried their donut cake which was delicious! Their eclairs were OK.
I think it’s one of the best bakeries that I’ve ever visited. The pastries and sandwiches are amazing. The apple puffs and chocolate croissants are delicious. We discovered this place only on the second day of our stay and we ended up eating breakfast our remaining trip and even picked up our dinner/lunches from this place. We also bought a lot of pastries for our trip back home. They sell a lot of local food products and it’s all reasonably priced. The food on the other hand is a little pricey but definitely worth it.
The food quality here was excellent with so much choice. Their baguettes tasted wonderfully fresh, and it’s a great lunch option with outdoor tables available. They also cater to celiac - strict medical gluten-free (GF) - so our family member felt safe eating here—which meant we could all relax and enjoy the meal together.
Cheerful atmosphere. Charming staff. Tropical shrimp salad was divine. We bought some freshly baked bread to eat with supper.
First time visiting. Took my parents and daughter here and blown away with the options this place have with sandwiches, pastries, coffee drinks and foods you can buy. I like that they have breakfast all day and after 2pm it was great to get Todd’s Morning Glory, a pastrami egg cheese spinach and ground mustard on focaccia sandwich. The bread was perfectly soft with these wonderful ingredients. Enjoyed the cold brew with it. Took home a cannoli which had a perfect shell, ricotta and chocolate chip filling.
Very kind and nice staff. The range of sandwiches they offer is huge and the cashiers do a good job if you have questions. The range of pastries is incredible and very tempting! Never tried but they do have a morning buffet breakfast that has all the essential breakfast items. I really like the coffee and the espresso drinks! One of the best places after gimme coffee to get coffee from!
I absolutely love this place! Everytime we are in Ithaca, we have to stop in at least once for breakfast and lattes, the service is quick, the staff is welcoming, warm, and friendly and the baked goods are wonderfully decadent. Live music on some nights beer and wine are also available.
one word: YUM Stopped at Ithaca Bakery to grab breakfast before a 5hr drive back to nj & wished to stay longer here! My bf and I came here as a last resort to another little coffee shop being overcrowded and this did not disappoint. I ordered the Round House breakfast sandwich and bf ordered a bacon egg cheese on an Italian bagel - both excellent. The fresh baked goods made it a difficult choice to decide what to get. Also there’s a bar!! With mimosas! We did get a few pastries to go and a couple of cold brews. Cold brews were good. Definitely would recommend to stop here if in the area.
Cool road trip stop! Freshly made coffee, bagel sandwiches, fruit and baked goods for the road, and a craft beer fridge for some nice brews to enjoy at the destination hotel! Service was great, very friendly. I noted the sign for $5 pints 4-6 PM. If I ever find myself in Ithaca again I'm sure I would find myself here again!
I bought take out croissants from here but if I make it back to Ithaca it will be on my to-do list to eat here because it smelled amazing. Tons of options for food and drinks.
What an incredible vibe. The place was jam packed, but so worth a little wait. The staff was working so hard late this morning, but so gracious. Amazing coffee and bagels. Power bowls and sandwiches are excellent. My all time favorite is a Dewitt melt. It's a little thrill to eat at a family owned business. So glad this one is going strong.
A great place to grab a sandwich, a drink, or some sweets. Plenty of options to choose from no matter what you’re craving. I went with the New Yorker which was excellent. The chocolate milk was quite good too. The service was super friendly and efficient. A must try if you’re in Ithaca.
Went here for killing some time for a pitstop brunch with my friend. Been here for a year in Ithaca but this was my first time going to Ithaca Bakery and I regret it! Really love the Sunday morning vibe here and the plenty of choices of food and drinks they serve. I already had my breakfast so I ordered the Butter Cookie Chai which was so good and affordable as they served it in a large-sized cup. Was thinking to try their pastries or desserts next time! My friend got the Brain Power bowl with yummy ahi tuna, avocado, grapes, goat cheese, quinoa, and other fresh toppings. It was so good! I’m leaving Ithaca this week and would love to go there for a breakfast pitstop before driving to the city. Oh, I would say they have a huge restroom inside, plenty of seats inside and outside, and the queue might be confusing at first like where do we make a line for sandwiches, coffee, and else but they have pretty detailed instruction being put in the queue. Must-try place as they have been serving for 100 years if I’m not mistaken? What a legend!
My favorite place (so far) within close distance of campus to grab a bite. I normally wouldn’t pay $6 for a slice of cake, but dang their stuff is soooo good I can’t help myself!! I’ve had their tiramisu and strawberry cream cake, both were exceptional. I enjoyed the coffee when I had one previously but it was just a little too pricey for me alongside the cost of the cake. However I did opt for the watermelon lemonade which was so light and refreshing!
Great bread, and sweets. The coffee is some of the best coffee I've had locally. The sandwiches are fresh and great too. Highly recommend if you're passing through or in the are
Good sandwiches and a diverse menu to make everyone happy. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly. Good soups, and great baked goodies!
Staff could have been nicer. Food was amazing. The bread was awesome. We tried the pumpernickel and ryes. Portions were ok. Great for grabbing something fast that's good to eat.
We went here to have brunch prior to visiting the nearby falls in the Finger Lakes. We were surprised how amazing and friendly the staff are at this bakery. There were several food options for you to choose from. We opted for one sandwich and one bagel with cream cheese. Our order came out quick. The meat on the sandwich came out really hot, temperature wise, but it was delicious. The cream cheese on the bagel was a generous amount. We left the bakery with our tummies full and was ready to take the short hikes to the nearby falls.
I am a huge dessert person so for my wedding I knew I wanted a large assortment of fresh baked goods and I am so glad we went with Ithaca Bakery to cater for our rehearsal! We knew going into the wedding that we over ordered in hopes I could go home with lots of left overs, but everything Ithaca Bakery brought was a huge hit and we barely had anything to take home (to my dismay)!! The lemon bars and peanut butter delights were especially a favorite of mine! We also ordered an assortment of brunch items for our bridal party for the day of that were also all delish! Thank you so much to Carley, Jodi and Kim for making the catering process so easy.
Hands down, the best place for lunch. Just finished hiking at Taughannnock Falls and stopped here after for lunch and it was so worth the short drive! The customer service was fantastic from start to finish and the food was delicious. I got the Laura’s Sweet Surprise and the combination of flavors were perfect. My friend got a blueberry muffin, a baby vanilla cheesecake, and the Autum Sky sandwich and she loved everything! Hope you get the chance to enjoy this wonderful place and check out all the local goodies they sell inside!
Amazing good. Absolutely love every single kind of soup I've had. Fair prices. Highly recommend trying them out.
Really great selection of sandwiches and soups! I’ve loved everything I’ve had. Ingredients are fresh and delicious. “Mike’s Double Take” sandwich is wonderful. “Sheldon Court” is another favorite too! It’s quick and the staff is very helpful and kind.
I work at a gym nearby and one of the staff members brings us baked good sometimes (sweetest lady). Everything she’s ever brought us has tasted so so good.
Delicious food, great options for vegans and vegetarians. So many freshly made smoothies, coffee and drinks. We had the vegan cheese nova lox on bagel, bagel with banana and peanut butter (great option for a fussy kid), and we had the Santa Fe salad and grain bowl where we omitted the chicken for seared Ahi Tuna. The lady at the register was really helpful and patient with all my editions.
Excellent quality! Due to their fabulousness, they can get pretty busy at lunch time, but it is well worth the wait. Many vegetarian options as well as traditional deli fare. Their baked goods - all of them - are top notch. My latest taste sensations were the Michigan Hollow and the Anne of Danby sandwiches. I would highly recommend either of these! I can't wait to go back and try out more of their menu. They have a fabulous service ethic to boot!
We stopped by for breakfast yesterday and for lunch to-go sandwiches today. They have a wide variety of things to order, including soups, bagels, pastries, smoothies and a bunch of drinks like coffee, tea and lemonades. The servers are pleasant and quick. You can stay in or take to go. Awesome local place!
Just stopped in for some assorted pastries and I was shocked how many options they have and how nice it was inside. Their little chocolate mouse was so cute and really good. Can’t wait to try more on the menu!
Ithaca bakery has something for every eater. They've got vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, fresh/cooked, they've got it ALL as well as lots of locally sourced drinks and snack options. Truly one of our favorite places in Ithaca!
*** Update 6/22 - Still an excellent experience. Our breakfast sandwiches were amazing and the staff was great! ** Edit 7/19 - Went back for lunch , our sandwiches were awesome , staff was really friendly and helpful and prices are fair. Nice place , Ithaca icon for coffee , bakery , subs and salads. On the day we went we just had coffees , teas and bakery items. My only negative is my slice of Oreo cake was a little past it's prime ( drying out, etc ) , and the frosting tasted more of shortening than cookies or cream.
So busy during lunch time! It took a while to get our orders. We all got hot sandwiches (the cutlet, veggie burger, the Tuscan) and enjoyed our food. Bread here was so good! We came back the next day to try their collegetown bagels and they’re terrific. Great tasting NY style bagel! The salt bagel was amazing!
This carrot cake is the most delicious cake I have ever had in my entire life. Anytime I eat their carrot cake, my heart fills with nothing but pure joy, and my mind is at ease. My stress levels are always low when I go here, and eat this carrot cake. Even people who don't like carrot cake would love this carrot cake. There is nothing, and I mean nothing more beautiful then the carrot cake here. This carrot cake is love. This carrot cake is life. This carrot cake is laugh. Glory to Ithaca bakery and their carrot cake.
Very yummy plain gluten free bagel with chicken sausage, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and egg. I didn’t have time to make breakfast and I’d never eaten here before. It was conveniently nearby my route to work after dropping off my rental car. It hit the spot. I’d definitely go back when I’m in Ithaca.
We enjoyed a delightful lunch at Ithaca Bakery— I highly recommend! Each of us really enjoyed our food. I ordered the Round House breakfast bagel with egg, sausage, bacon, cheese, and hash brown. My other company got sandwiches and really liked them. We also got a triple chocolate cookie and it was delicious too! Wonderful ambiance and friendly staff.
Lots of options! Ordered the reuben and it was soo good!!! Place was very busy around 1030. Place has some parking. People are in and out so you should not have problem looking for a spot. Met some locals and were very nice to give us recommendation and tips for our hiking trip! A must visit if you are in town!
I recently visited Ithaca Bakery, and it was an amazing experience! The selection of baked goods is fantastic, with everything from fresh breads to delicious pastries and cookies. The quality of the food is top-notch, and everything tastes so fresh. I highly recommend trying their sandwiches—they're made with their own freshly baked bread, and the ingredients are always flavorful and high quality. The atmosphere of the bakery is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to grab a quick bite or sit and enjoy your treat. The staff are friendly, and I love the variety of options available, whether you're looking for a sweet snack or a hearty meal. Ithaca Bakery is a must-visit for anyone in the area, and I’ll definitely be back soon!
We visited here multiple times over last weekend. Food, coffee, the Mexican bagel, and ended up buying 10 different marmalade flavors to gift to friends. This 100 year old bakery has something to offer to everyone. You can spend a quality time here growing the menu, their merchandise too.
Ithaca Bakery is a beloved local gem, blending decades-long tradition with creative, fresh offerings—from artisan breads and bagel sandwiches to comforting soups and café fare. Its laid-back, indoor/outdoor vibes make it a perfect morning hangout or casual lunch spot. While some menu items lean pricey and lunch hours can get busy, the quality, friendly service, and community-driven spirit keep people coming back. Just double-check your order—and maybe try the cake if you’re feeling adventurous!
There are so many options from bagels to beverages, hot sandwiches to a cold case full of goodies. So many baked goods, and a great selection of oils and hot sauces that would make great gifts. Our food was great, everyone was friendly, and we’ll definitely stop in again when we visit the lakes.
How can anyone not love this bakery? It is so unique because it's not only a bakery and cafe, but they serve alcohol too (they even do happy hour from 4-6). The food is always fresh and delicious. They have daily specials. They're baked goods are very good, as well. They are a lot of drink options: tea, coffee, cocoa, and smoothies. They have local wines, ciders, and beers. They have indoor and outdoor seating (including little greenhouses with picnic tables). They sell cool merchandise. The BBQ pork sandwich is very good. The PB & Joe smoothie is awesome (without the coffee). They have build your own smoothies, as well. The Jonah Jive is my favorite sandwich (vegetarian). Update 2025: I had a breakfast sandwich and it was very good. The mimosa flight was delicious.
Decent food, but not memorable. Usually fast. I find their cookies disappointing. Also, why is everything in disposable containers?
Busy spot that's great to hang out any time of day. Service is streamlined and fast so don't be scared away by the line. Food is high-quality, prices competitive, but I found portions quite small. Enjoyed the flavor but left a little hungry.
I ordered two sandwiches, a smoothie, and a gluten free apple bar. Everything was a bit expensive but tasted good.
Stopped by Ithaca Bakery for a quick bite and was genuinely impressed by how much they offer. The place is packed with options—sandwiches, baked goods, soups, and an almost endless selection of drinks. Honestly, it was almost overwhelming in the best way possible! Ended up trying their tomato soup, which was surprisingly comforting and flavorful. Definitely a solid spot if you’re looking for variety and something tasty.
The food was decent and coffee pretty great, but imagine my surprise when the fire alarm went off... First time there, visiting from out of town, and there's a fire. But the wild part was that everyone just kind of froze and waited to see what would happen. Since I could smell smoke and didn't want to risk whatever might happen if I didn't act, I left. Fire truck arrived within five minutes. Just curious: did a staff member or management ever say something, anything?? Something like: "Let's exit the building in a calm manner and wait outside until we figure out what's going on." You might want to work on your safety plan, y'all. That was awkward.
Today was my first visit. The staff had my online order ready when I arrived. The sesame bagel was large, I just would have preferred it softer. The coffee was good. There is no extra charge for plant milks in coffees. But plant milks in lattes have a surcharge.
The review below mines saddens me to read. I loved the bakery for its diversity in food/drinks and all types of other stuff in there. Coffee wasnt what i ordered but i had already left and it was too late. There is a rude guy and pretty sure I know who the woman in the review about the guy yelling at her is talking about. All I can say is thank God it wasn't me because i wouldn't have gotten to taste this beautiful sandwich they made. (When I deal with rudeness I don't support) . My food was amazing and glad I made the drive here to check this place out !
Staff were sooooooo friendly Prices are good Lovedddd how they offer bagels top side up as shown in photo we need more of that elsewhere cause that’s how I like my bagels! Bagels were averagely good Muffins were bad Coffee was good Overall we enjoyed this place, but the baked goods definitely are a bit stale (we visited at 7:30am). The place has feel good vibes but don’t expect outstanding eats
I got the Brekkie Bowl, but had the avocados and sweet potatoes removed. Decent amount of bacon and overall the bowl was delicious, but I wish they put more kale in the bowl. When I’m in Ithaca again, I will definitely be stopping by and also grabbing one of their baked breads! Total ended up being $13.99 with tax, hence why I wished I had more kale.
Ithaca Bakery is a treat every once in awhile, and it has never disappointed! The food is always fresh whether it's soups or a prepared sandwich, and the breakfast sandwiches are the best in town. I love the salt rosemary bagels, and always save room for whatever vegetarian friendly soup they've got on the menu.
You need to check your order before leaving the store! Otherwise great places to get coffee, a variety of hot and cold prepared dishes, great desserts. Clarification: Twice in thenlast 6 months - 5 orders we have gotten sandwiches where the meat was left out. March 2025 - placed an order for California Dream. We thought the meat was thin. Because we got this sandwich loaded we only realized later that the meat has probably been left out. 26 Aug - ordered a Turkey Hill B.L.T. When we got home there was only bacon, no turkey. We are 10 miles from Ithaca so a quick return to IB, or calling for a new delivery, is not an option.
The new Vegan 'Power Plant' breakfast sandwich! A great sandwich if you eat vegan, seek plentiful protein, and have plenty of money. $11 with tip. This sandwich was impossible even 5 years ago, since then engineering for legume-protein sausage, melty gooey dairy-free "cheese", and non-egg egg have occurred. The sandwich was missing its schmear of promised vegan aioli, and my salivary glands had to compensate against the dryness. The only characteristics about the arugula was that it was green, with none of its desired spikey flavor coming thru. Neither was there much of it. The best part was how "JUST egg" is so impressively egg-like, I could not believe. The worst part was the price and lack of nuanced flavor besides salt and protein oomami.
They have a huge menu with all kinds of food. Though, we had to wait more than 20 minutes for our (quite normal) sandwich to be served and we found the portion size way too small for what we paid. Also the bread was very dry. The washrooms were not really clean. We won't go here again.
Super bummed with my experience. I ordered a steamer and 2 large peanutbutter cookies to go...got to my hotel and I had 2 not so good chocolate chip cookies. The service was slow and it wasn't busy and my steamer was warm at best. It's a super cute bakery. I was there once before years ago and it was much better. Tossed the cookies in the trash and drank my cold steamer.
I've been going to Ithaca Bakery for over a decade, and the slow slide into poor quality and higher prices has become bad enough that I will likely never eat here again. The espresso drinks have been inconsistent and generally bad for the last year or two, and recently the food has gotten worse as well. Just today: my $13+ sandwich came with two tiny pieces of lox (less than half of what I've received when ordering this same sandwich in the past), the bread was untoasted, and my "quad shot" latte tastes like it has maybe a quarter of the espresso it should.
Unfortunately, the baklava, eclair, and chia porridge were all not very tasty. I was very disappointed, since I have had excellent food in the past. The service was slow and distracted. Value for the money is low.
All around pretty meh. This is an old school coffee spot that has a massive menu and doesn't seem to do anything well. I had their Plant Power sandwich which is Beyond sausage, Just egg, vegan cheese, aioli, and arugula on a bagel. It sounded great but in execution it was pretty mediocre. Of course the products themselves are tasty, but the shreds were not melted and really gross, I'm not even sure what brand they're using but there are wayyy better brands out there these days. Also there were maybe two sprigs of arugula and it was a pretty tiny sandwich for being $9. I get that Just and Beyond are more expensive items, but the quality of the rest of the sandwich didn't match. With a bigger bagel and more veggies, along with different shreds (or none), it would have been much better. Their other vegan options were just the same old hummus and sprouts sandwich and two vegan baked goods out of a huge baked goods selection. They do have oat milk creamer out for coffee, you'll need a lot of it cuz the coffee is pretty awful. They have wifi tho and you can hang for as long as you want, so it gets the job done for that purpose. Other than that, for the food/coffee, I would not recommend it.
Have been here multiple times and is am disappointed each time. Between the staff being rude and entitled, and the bakery making my order wrong after a 15 minute wait, I’m starting to wonder if it’s even worth coming here anymore. Very poor customer service as the staff seems to get frazzled in calm or fast-paced environments despite being very nice as a customer myself. What’s the point of choosing my bagel and cheese if I’m going to get neither of what I chose? Why is the order ticket cashier passive-aggressively telling me where to pay for my ticket when I accidentally pull out my card? Why does the cashier who takes my payment hold their hand out for my ticket like an entitled child while making NO eye contact? Is beyond me, but hate to see customer service go down the drain like this.
Not sure what they’re serving for avocados but that’s not an avocado. Whole meal seemed prepared before hand and microwaved. Would not recommend the breakfast bowl.
Worst customer service!! Within my order I ordered two bagels toasted with cream cheese. I am thankful I ate them in house because when I opened them they were over toasted with almost no cream cheese. The worst part is when I kindly notified them a staff member never looked at them and literally yelled at me across the entire store in front of a line of customers, "You need to order extra if that's what you want!" I was shocked. See my photo below. I had to take this photo and make her look at it. They never apologized for the poor product or the even worse treatment. Nor did they offer to replace it. $45 worth of products later and total disrespectful mistreatment I can't imagine returning again or recommending this place.
It is really stupid to have your own web site not accept your own gift card. They have a one day a month bagel special for $10 a dozen, which I could never take advatage of when working. Now retired, I recieved a $20 gift card for XMAS, tried to pre order the bagels online, and discovered you could not use their own gift card. I showed up today, the day of the special, and was told I could not get the special at the counter, only by preordering. So I paid $14.95 instead of $10. Good job ripping off a senior citizen, Brous.
