My wife and I did a one day getaway. And it was the most romantic, peaceful, serene and high end dining experience for our 24 hour vacation. The lodge is perfect for a couple that wants to relax, enjoy the ocean breeze. You truly do get to see where the river meets the ocean. The restaurant was truly one of our favorite food experiences in Northern California. The quality of the seafood is simply spectacular and the intimate setting is a perfect setting for you to enjoy and spend time with your significant other. I hope to come back one day in the future.
Best service and accommodations built on one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Lots of wildlife, and I even saw an eagle from my balcony. Images are all from my private deck.
This was exactly what we needed. I was in San Jose for work and this was the perfect quick getaway after the job completed. The food, the views, listening to the waves all night and waking up to them in the morning was near medically necessary.
I had the summer celebration menu this weekend. Everything was phenomenal, but the salmon dish specifically was the best meal I've ever had. All of the flavors and textures were placed so perfectly. I cannot express enough how amazing the food is here!
Happened on this by chance. Cool spot. Great service, atmosphere and even better food. Would 100% return to the area just to eat here. drinks were creative and well done.
Stayed 2 nights in the Headlands House. Absolutely incredible place with Great views of river and ocean. We saw two bald eagles flying around both days. We also ate dinner at the restaurant. Elk rare was great, girlfriends loved the Passat and prawns, but the duck confit eggs were were the best thing we had. Would and will stay and eat here again.
This is literally one of the finest dining experiences in Sonoma County. They should have at least 2 Michelin Stars. The sunset on the deck is breathtaking. Bert and his staff making the experience perfect. And don't drive home, stay in one of their amazingly perfect cabins or houses on the water. It is well worth the journey.
Peal Cabin - Bed was super comfortable; loved the exposed redwood room, the room was small and modest, but the view makes up for it all. Must visit the restaurant, too!
If you want a unique and truly relaxing 'getaway' this would be a place to start. You may have to get over some of your fancy accommodation expectations, but it will be worth it. We stayed in the Pearl cabin. It was small, rustic, and simple, but had all the comforts any of us REALLY need; a very comfortable, clean bed; small refrigerator; coffee maker (with coffee in a jar - we brought our own but is was a homey touch). The room was slightly musty (expect that anywwhere at the coast) when we arrived but quickly cleared when we opened doors and windows for a few minutes. There are wall outlets to plug in anything you need and wifi was easy to access. BUT the very best was the deck and view. It was fabulous to sit and watch the where the Russian River meets the pacific ocean, and all the creatures who live there; harbor seals, pelicans, gulls, cormorants and so on. We saw a beautiful sunset ,and then sunrise with swirling fog and swiftly changing light. Champagne in the evening and coffee in the morning. It was very soothing and cozy; we heard very little street noise. The room temp was regulated perfectly. There is a small private beach you can walk down to with provided lawn chairs. The 'top of the line' resturant is a few cabins away if you do not want to drive anywhere (good idea to make reservations). It is expensive but it is well worth it if you want an extra treat- this is a place for 'fine dining', not eating or grubbing. You will be treated with the top service in a beautful setting. Bottom line: If you want a cozy, non fussy getaway, with a top of the line dining experience, this is a perfect place to consider.
My wife and I ate and stayed at the River's End 27 years ago and we loved it. In November 2025 we will be in Jenner again and are planning to go to the Restaurant again. Will it be just as good as 27 years ago?
One of the most spectacular sunset locations you will find at a restaurant anywhere in the world. The setting above the mouth of the Russian River is truly stunning. We’ve had dinner and or drinks here several times and the food and service has always been top-notch. The drive from here to Bodega Bay is also breathtaking. It’s about 20 mins from Bodega and Guerneville so accessible from either direction. Highly recommend. Also, there is a pay phone here for unknown reason. I can’t think of another I have run across in the past few years.
River’s End is one of those rare spots that actually lives up to the view. Perched above the Russian River where it meets the Pacific, it’s the kind of place you plan a whole day around — sunsets here are unreal. The food’s just as good: fresh, creative, and clearly made with care. Service is warm but unpretentious, and the whole vibe feels like a perfect Northern California escape.
It was such an emotional day for me that I didn’t even take any pictures! 😄 The place is truly beautiful — all those photos with the stunning views are real. The ambiance is perfect: elegant but not pretentious, cozy but not too simple. I booked this restaurant for my husband’s birthday dinner after a long trip, and we weren’t disappointed! We ordered the 3-course dinner — everything was delicious. I especially loved the tuna tacos and the halibut, and the dessert was wonderful too. The service was exceptional, but I want to give a special thanks to Evan! He was amazing not only at his job, but after finishing his long shift, he helped us to start our rental car when the battery died right at the top of the hill ))) Thank you so much, Evan! It’s not just about that polite, professional “cold friendliness” you often see in service — it’s about genuine human warmth and kindness, which is so rare nowadays. Thank you, thank you to the entire team! I’ll never forget this day 😁💛
We rented the cypress room, with views of the Russian River to our left and the Pacific Ocean in front of us, amazing location! We watched sunsets from our bed! We also ate at the restaurant one night, great service, food is much better than expected.
Absolutely phenomenal spot all around. Staying here was a fantastic experience. The room, staff, restaurant, and location all made the River's End a real can't-miss in California. The views were sublime, and the area was awe-inspiring.
What an excellent establishment! We visited the restaurant bar on Saturday July 26th. Brian, the bartender, was super sweet and VERY knowledgeable with our drink orders. He prepared a delicious French 76, margarita and Old Fashion. We also ordered the clam chowder which was AMAZING!! I don’t even like clam chowder and it was fabulous! The chef must sprinkle crack on top. We also ordered the beet salad. Most beets taste like dirt. These did not. Far from it! I actually enjoyed the beets which is a miracle. We highly recommend this establishment. Beautiful location.
Stayed in 2 nights in surf cabin 2 and had dinner. I will return. I always enjoy the Cali coast but this place is special. Excellent accommodations, private, quiet, amazing views! Opening the windows each night and listening to the waves was perfect. Temps were fabulous. I really enjoyed having the fireplace. Sunsets on the balcony were fabulous! Dinner was great. Only suggestion I would make is offer a breakfast for guest like a B and B. Don’t hesitate to book here. This place has me looking at Jenner real estate.
We stayed at the Headlands House and had dinner at Rivers End restaurant. The Headlands House has a view unlike no other! Beautiful view of the Russian River and the Pacific Ocean with wild life to watch. The food at the restaurant was top notch! All of the staff the owner were very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend the restaurant and lodging and hope to return!
Views of the river and ocean were spectacular. We stayed in cabin 3 the pearl and had dinner at the restaurant our last night. What a delicious and memorable treat! Most vegetarian meals are an afterthought; the Vegetable Napoleon was a celebration of in season Carrots, asparagus, peas, Brussels and more and was delightful! Loved it!
PERCH Cabin #1 Review Note to customers: Please drive slowly. The speed limit is 25 mph in Bodega Bay. Deer and other wild life are depending on you driving slower than you normally would. It's very hard to see around the curves and the deer camouflage against the hill side. The GREAT: Gabriel was wonderful to work with. The location was perfect. The view was fabulous. The bed was super comfy. The WiFi password was room specific (great internet security feature). I would definitely consider coming here again or giving a hotel stay as a special gift to family members. This cabin is on my top two hotel rooms I have ever stayed at! This felt like a much needed once in a lifetime experience (hoping to come here again, though). The BAD: The price of the desserts were shockingly high ($18/ea - if you don't have money to burn, you'll want to check dessert prices before ordering!) The restaurant did not have plant milk nor a Vegan dessert available. I would have ordered two coffees but plant milk was not available. I learned after consumption that the non-dairy creamer powder in the cabin room was not Vegan; it's made with milk solids. Areas that could be IMPROVED upon: put a washable throw rug on the carpet (hotel carpet will feel gross to some guests), have an ice maker available for guests (I couldn't freeze my ice packs and didn't have ice available), add a small microwave in the room to reheat restaurant left-overs, and add an accessible outlet near the bed.
This is a review for the restaurant. Location is amazing location above where the Russian River meats the ocean. Food was enjoyable. We had the ahi tacos, clam chowder, ahi salad, and shrimp pasta. I would skip the clam chowder, as it was subpar. When celebrating a birthday, it is nice when restaurants bring you a free dessert. This place did not and lost a star for that. Prices are reasonable and they have a full bar where you can sit while waiting for your table or just go for a drink.
This will be a unique experience but worth it. We stayed in the Pearl Cabin 3. Upon entering you will probably feel underwhelmed as you just spent $300 to stay in a glorified shed. The bathroom was small and the bed took up most of the single room, but the view was well worth it. Plan to get a bottle of wine and enjoy watching the sunset. Location, location, location is the key here. You are paying for the experience and the view. Try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Went there for dining only. Location of the restaurant couldn’t get better than it. We couldn’t see the sunset due to weather but if you could, go there before the sunset! Food had a great variety and was decent - we tried the clam chowder and duck rolls followed by the elk steak (recommended at rare or medium rare). The elk took about 40 mins to wait, but overall service was excellent. The bartender was particularly sweet and lovely!
I was really excited to try this restaurant because the reviews are glowing and make it sound great. Unfortunately my experience wasn’t so good. It started with a terrible parking situation. Their lot was full and they are a bit out of the town, where is one supposed to park? We ended up waiting for someone to leave to take their spot. Now I can forgive that if the food is good. But the food was kind of bad. It wasn’t inedible but for the price it was disappointing. We got the ceviche and the ahi tuna. The wine wasn’t great either. The atmosphere was nice, but more as a place to bring your parents than a date…
