Dishes had a nice unique spin. The steak and fresh catch were delicious.
Wende helped fuel my espresso addiction. Mahalo!!
Everything was cooked to order which of course provided an amazing dinner. Word of warning, don’t go when you’re starving 😆 it takes awhile to get food out. I had the chicken and it was moist and sides delicious. The beef looked amazing too!
I came here almost everyday while staying at the Outrigger. And some locals start coming specifically for the cocktails. It’s a fine crafty cocktail place! Look for Pedro and Richie and ask them to make you customized drinks! Highly recommended. 🍹
Good food, friendly staff. Live music. We had a nice time.
My bf and I live in Kona and don't typically go to resorts or tourist spots, but we had our niece visiting from California and we wanted to take her to a nice resort dinner her last night visiting with us, so we decided to stay in town and take her to Piko. The last time my bf and I were here it was shortly after they re-opened after covid, so we were also excited to see the new restaurant and try out some of the new menu items they have. I made the reservation online, through their website, and was a breeze making the reservation. We needed to change it to a later time, and it was very simple to cancel and reserve a new time without any hiccups. All made on the day we went, just a few hours before our reservation. When we got to the hotel (with free parking not too far from the front entrance) the hostess was warm and welcoming. We were about 15-20 minutes late for our reservation but they accommodated us and gave us a nice table close to the live music and a nice view of the adult pool, but also in a private corner where we could all still converse and hear each other. The live music is a nice addition to the ambiance. The last time we came to the restaurant was a couple of years ago and they have since remodeled the bar and sitting area, which is much nicer than it was before. Now to the food and service. We ordered a good amount of food; for appetizers, we had the chef's bread, seafood chowder, smoked dip, french fries, and sashimi. The sashimi app we had was amazing and highly original! Very fresh ahi sashimi topped with ponzu, ogo, pearl truffle caviar, and ikura (salmon roe caviar), sooo good! The micro-greens were also a nice touch on the sashimi plate. My niece loved the chowder so much, she almost ordered a second bowl but wanted to save room for her entree and dessert. For entrees we had ribeyes and the Korean braised short rib (forgot to take photos). Good mix of veggies with the ribeyes and the short rib was nice and tender. My niece had never tried kimchee but was definitely digging the kimchee fried rice that came with the braised short rib. We ended the meal with some Tropical Dreams ice cream (chocolate, coconut, Kona Coffee). Huge shout out to Chef Ash for the amazing food! Also to our our server, Tracey-Ann! She was very friendly and bubbly, and my niece said she was the nicest server she's ever had! Thank you for showing my niece (and us) what aloha hospitality is all about!
Josh is a phenomenal bartender. He deeply cares that you enjoy your time and drinks. Everyone should get a chance to experience his hospitality.
The Ahi was outstanding! Tracey-Ann was an amazing waitress and made our experience exceptional. The live music was fun and inviting. Worth checking out!
Had dinner here one night while staying at the outrigger. Food was as good, cocktails were nice and the service was quick and friendly. Would recomend over some of the more expensive options in the area.
Great service and food! Deserves much higher rating!
A nice place to grab a coffee and chill, look at the beach and a water fall. The coffe quality is pretty big.
Wonderful atmosphere! Eggs Benny were phenomenal.
We had breakfast here and the food was great!
Pricy but delicious
Marie at the bar/cafe is amazing!!! She was very very friendly and attentive, and gave us some awesome recommendations of things to do and see during our stay on the island. Whatever they're paying her, its not enough!!!
Only 8 reviews so I wanted to help get the word out. We ordered a smattering of apps and every single one was mouth watering delicious. Baby back ribs, shrimp, taro bread, and fish dip were insanely good. The prices were actually reasonable but the best part was our server. I believe her name was Tracy but the whole crew and team (including the local Hawaiian musicians) were awesome. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff and live music in the evenings. Food was alright; menu selection felt a little bit limited, food service a little bit slow Make sure to make a reservation as they weren’t taking walk-ins when we went
Seating is very limited unless you go for the full breakfast
Had mixed reviews with staff. All the female waitresses, runners and hosts super nice. Had a great time. However, there were a couple instances with male staff that were particularly unpleasant. One was a runner who was dropping off dessert and we were trying to remember who ordered what and he got frustrated after no more then 5 seconds and threw the bowls in front of me. Nice. Second instance was Graham. We came for breakfast and had little time to look at the breakfast menu so we just ordered plain coffee. When we saw there were espresso drinks I felt bad having him waste coffee so I asked a hostess to get his attention for me before he wasted his time on it. He came back visibly angry, aggressively grabbed out empty mugs threw them into the bus caddy and stormed into the back after getting our latte orders. My intention wasn't to make him rush around doting on us, I just felt bad wasting his time and effort making brewed coffee but at that point I wish I did. Totally set the tone for the rest of the day. Other then that the food was decent though I did like the menu better from last year. Not for nothing but it doesnt matter how good the food tastes if your staff puts your entire party on edge. Two times people were throwing things like children having a tantrum, unacceptable.
Loved the live music. Service was really slow and the food was not really something to rave about. Granted my son and I both got hamburgers. Very pricey for not being that good. You do get a lot of food just did not taste that good
Live music was a treat.
Really really slow to wait for food to go
Underwhelmed by the food and wait times were long despite the restaurant being basically empty. The staff was very friendly and made the experience. Would skip and pick a different restaurant next time.
The place has good food and a nice atmosphere but holy crap it is way too expensive. The food portions are not the much and the quality isn’t the best. I would pay $25 at most for a meal but they cost $45 to $60 for an entree. I would not come back here and would rather go to the other food place across the hotel
Mixed experiences here. Breakfast was good a little overpriced for portion sizes. Service was great at breakfast. Dinner was overall disappointing service was ok. The quality of the ingredients is good but the preparation was just ok especially on the fish it was so dry it was too hard to eat. For such high prices for main dishes the preparation matters.
Nice big open space by the pool. Staff is nice. Food is disgusting. Almost inedible. The rice was overcooked and mushy and the burger we ordered (well done) was raw in the middle. I don’t know how food can be this bad. Drinks at the coffee counter are very expensive. We went to get a coffee from Piko at 2:30pm. The barista told us he did not know how to make the London fog or the matcha tea latte that are on your menu (the first two specialty drinks listed) because he’s more of a “bartender than a barista”. You should probably have someone staffed at the coffee counter who knows how to make the drinks you advertise…
We are staying at the Outrigger so had our first dinner here last night. We splashed out as it was our anniversary, as Piko knew but didn’t acknowledge. Two of us chose the ‘Chef’s special’ ($46 each excl tax and gratuity) and asked for our steak medium as they wouldn’t allow us to order it cooked any less. It was so tough that it was inedible and I left at least half (maybe they spent the entire 1.5 hours we were waiting cooking it). I mentioned it to the waitress twice but she didn’t care or discount the bill in any way. Would not recommend this restaurant even if staying at the hotel, especially if this review just receives the usual placatory “we hope you give us another chance in future” response rather than an actual gesture (spoiler: we won’t!)
Medium rare ribeye steak was tough to chew. Catch of the day fish was cooked perfectly. I’d just get a burger at that looks decent from other parties.
The menu prices felt disproportionately high for what was offered. Looking at the past reviews, this seems to be a trend. Our chicken came out with no seasoning at all and it looked and felt undercooked. The server was very nice about it and at least took it off the receipt. Piko has potential, but until they reconsider their pricing, it’s hard to recommend.
Served me cold food. My 13 year old could put a better Charcuterie plate together. I wish I took a picture for you.
It's expensive. Servings are tiny. It's a resort with a captive audience, and they take advantage. The breakfast buffet is good, but not $40 good. $50 for a rib eye sounds ok until it lands on your table and you see it's a 1/2" thick tiny chunk of beef. You leave hungry. Servers are hit and miss. We stayed a few days in March. Live music in evenings was good.
We had Ahi Crudo Kombujime for starters, rib eye and poached Mahi Mahi (fresh catch of the day) for the two main courses. Overall, the dishes are among the worst I’ve had in my lifetime in terms of the quality/price ratio. A few notes: 1. The Kombujime was extremely salty. Obviously it has too much soy sauce. Because the fish was immersed in the soy sauce, the fish was too salty and I had to drink a lot of water after the first bite. 2. The ribeye was also overly salty and the salt was not evenly distributed. We can directly taste the salt grains. 3. Surprisingly, none of the main courses comes with carbohydrates like rice or potatoes. The waitress reminded us of that and we have to additionally order a side — bread is listed as a side, and there is no free bread as well. 4. The waiting time is long. We waited for 15 min to be seated, and it took a long time for the waitress to help us ordering food. We had a ribeye and supposed to get a steak knife. The waitress promised to get one for us but that knife never came. Overall I feel the dishes and service do not worth the price at all. The only reason it gets a lot of customers is that this is the only restaurant inside the resort. But if you have alternative choice, avoid this one.
Saying good bye to Hawaii with a loco moco except it didn’t work out. Menu says prime beef but was tough and chewy. Menu says mushroom but none was found. Rice was long grain and loose. Gravy lacked flavor and was watery. Beef patty small (no more than 1/4 pound). Way way way overpriced at $24. Probably hands down the worst loco moco in all of Hawaii. Never been more disappointed.
Had breakfast, it was over priced and under portioned. The good was just ok. The staff was about the same as you'd find in a Denny's. They seemed under staffed. I definitely will not be eating there again even though I'm staying at the resort. Just about everything about the place is sub par. The room interiors are great. But who wants to stay in their room the whole time. They spent their money on decorations and hired anyone with a pulse. The food is by far the worst part of the place. It tastes like the cooks dropped out of culinary school in the first semester.
Worst tuna I ever had. Other dishes are also so so, highly not recommended.
Open table encountered an error when i made a reservation for Christmas Brunch. So we made the reservation another way. Then open table sends email much later the reservation that had the error is confirmed and now we have 2 reservations and no pbone number for Piko to cancel one of them. Don't you think a restaurant should have a phone number?
This resteraunt food is over priced and on both occasions we went under cooked. For the amount you pay to be at this resort you would think the food would be good. Skip the hotel eat out you will not be disappointed.
Very disappointing mothers day brunch for $82 each there are plenty of other beautiful tasteful places to go
Got the breakfast buffet. Scrambled eggs were rubber, the sausage tasted like hotdogs, the potato’s weren’t edible, and the bacon was decent. Best part of my meal was the Chobani yogurt cup and the fruit pastry! 37 dollars so very well spent!!!! Also the orange juice was a weird consistency??? And the service was horrendous. Absolutely disgusted by this establishment, no one should ever even consider dining here, unless it’s the end of the world and this is the last restaurant standing on all of planet earth.
Got a drink here on Saturday night and it made me immediately sick. Then went back to try and get breakfast. We’re seated by a delightful older man then proceeded to sit there for 30 minutes waiting for a server. We got to the point where we were so hungry we just left. Seems like they were almost trying to force us to the overpriced buffet. It’s easy because it’s on site but I’d avoid if possible. Way overpriced for the quality and service you receive.
Worst food and service I’ve ever encountered. Arrived 5 minutes before 9 (time when they do the last call for seating and dining) due to flight being delayed for couple hours and asked if I still can sit in. The response was no, but we still can get your order to go, but you have to be quick as it’s 5 minutes left before cut off time. OK, thanks, I guess, for your generosity, but it’s not my fault to be that late and having no other food options, so no need to be rude and condescending. Anyhow, ordered burger. It was the driest and the most flavourless burger I tasted, literally like chewing a shoe sole. That was the first and the last time I dined there. No wonder they have half empty seatings every evening. Only bright side is the live music there, but if I wanted music, I’d go for a concert.
To be honest, I literally walked away and didn't try the food due to the unprofessional hostess. But if the food reflects the front door service, I don't think I missed out. Too bad there aren't any closer food options.
Revised 11/25 - My initial review is below. My wife and I went back to Piko a few months after my last review… just to give it one last chance. We were excited to see a new menu, but they somehow managed to make the food worse. My chicken dish was soaking in swamp juice. After one bite, I was repulsed. My wife had the Ahi and it was equally disgusting. We won’t be going back. Original Review: When a restaurant can’t make decent coffee in Kona, something is wrong. It looked like weak tea… sent back… more of the same. Puna Chicken was dry… Ahi tuna tasted old like it sat in a freezer… staff is great! Very polite, but the food is awful. I’ve had better food from Costco’s food court.
Terable dinner Had the Rib eye it was terrible was supposed to have Demiglase sauce it was nothing of the sort! Nothing like pictured. Wife had Soup she couldn't eat tasted Funky, I tried it and spit it out! Catch of the day? Nope they did not have any. Avoid Denys up the road is better. Especially when your paying $150 for dinner and drinks
After a long wait the staff there asked me to take a bar stool, when walked over there was no empty spots. When I came back to tell them, they asked to wait for 30 more minutes. They just avoid making eye contact and act like you are invisible. Worst customer service ever.
First off, some take out garlic bread and a tiny cup of chowder taking over 45 minutes is ridiculous. But if that wasn’t bad enough, and it was… the chowder that cost $17 was literally just under one cup in measurement. $17 for that tiny amount is absurd… and then getting back to our room we find there was no spoon given out.. The chicken dish was also tiny, and though it was a very tasty dish, it was nit worth it.
