Jesse James (store owner?) was excellent with service, knowledge of the products and easily adjusted the sizing of the jewelry in order to customize it in person. Only down side was that quoted price with the conversion was higher than quoted. I'd return here though and recommend others to check it out.

The gentleman who serves you, I believe, is the artist himself; he's very kind and attentive. The prices are in dollars, so you'll need to convert them at the current exchange rate. The pieces are very beautiful, but yes, you'll need to bring some cash.

I have shopped here many times and purchased quite a few things from several hundred dollars to one hundred dollars. The quality is great my wife always loves what they have they are extremely friendly low pressure and they stand behind there products. I have paid with both cash and credit card without any problems. Jessie is an incredible jeweler and his work is fantastic Do not hesitate to buy jewelry here. If you go on a tour, they have a raffle where you can win your own pearl from the mollusk. My mom won a large, pink pearl, which they attached to a beautiful silver chain. The service is very friendly, and they also gave us a discount.

We visited Velvet Box during our trip to La Paz. They're located right on the Malecón. While we were walking and enjoying the beautiful views, I fell in love with a pearl ring I saw. My husband spoke with Mr. Jesús, and he arranged everything so I could have a beautiful anniversary gift. Mr. Jesús was very kind and made the ring to my size in just a couple of hours. I'm so happy with my ring, and most of all, I'm taking away a beautiful memory of La Paz ❤️

I am giving two stars because the customer service is good (even if it is a bit dishonest.) I come to La Paz every year. Every year I bring about 8-10 people and we sail around the islands. While not relevant to this review per se, I believe it is important to establish that I have been visiting this store for over 16 years. I have purchased many products from this store over the years. The quality is generally good. Most of the items I have purchased have been of stone and silver. I do have a friend that purchased what was represented as a gemstone that turned out to be glass, but that is a risk you take when you purchase jewelry abroad. Their pricing is variable depending on who you are working with. It is overpriced, but I am ok with paying too much for something if the company stands behind it. In this case, they don't. They offer a warranty for life. Do not trust the warranty. I had a ring lose the opal in it because it was faulty in the way it was crafted. They have denied replacing it saying that normal wear and tear are not covered. It is not normal wear and tear to have stone drop from the ring's channel. Being that I am not in La Paz, I cannot just pop in and make a fuss. So I will post this review in hopes you can become better informed on their "promises." I will not be back to this store. Nor will any of the crew I bring on subsequent years.

I purchased a ring and earrings that I was told were real sapphire stone. When I came back to the United States, a month later one of the stones fell out. I took the ring to Barmakian jewelers and they told me the stone was definitely not real. Not even lab grown. Scam!

I was sold some earrings that were supposed to be opals. They aren't, but their long argument when complaining was that some opals are mined and others aren't. Look, real opals are mined, without exception. If they're not mined, then they're synthetic, but don't call them opals and don't deceive people. This is very expensive costume jewelry. Stay away; they're not reliable.

Stay away from this place, they're scammers. They sold me some supposed emerald earrings and a pendant for almost 30,000 pesos (with a supposed 35% discount), promising to send the certificate to my email, which they never did. When I took the pieces to be appraised, it turned out they were glass, not emeralds. I was scammed. They don't answer the phone. I should have read the TripAdvisor reviews before trusting these con artists.

We were s stupid to pay 350 $ for two plain stainless steel partner rings which had a value of max 25 $ according Amazon...and it was not even the INOX brand as advertised as the engravement is missing. Clever salesman, stupid us!
