We were a large group dining together! Leslie gave us outstanding service! She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, which it was! Great food, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere!
WOW! This was the food highlight of our trip to Lake Placid. We ordered the Brisket Nigiri (not worth it-hard to eat and rice was undercooked), the Signature Rib Nachos (out of this world!) and the Brisket Platter. The nachos were a mountain of flavor! Toppings layered throughout. Portion was gigantic. We got the biggest pieces of brisket I’ve ever seen a restaurant serve. One piece was a little overcooked, but the other was the best piece of brisket I’ve had in my life. So tender, juicy, and flavorful! The only critique I have is that there wasn’t enough sauce! This sauce needs to be sold! Make sure to SHARE everything-portions are HUGE! This place was very popular so get on the list early or make a reservation.
THE BEST WINGS I EVER HAD..!!!! It has a beautiful outdoor dining view of mirror lake. The staff were very friendly. We had the chicken wings and loaded nachos. We had a wonderful evening there. It's been a year and I still have a craving for wings. I will surely visit Lake Placid again to eat different types of wings. Their sauces are delicious. I would highly recommend this place for wings lover. But make sure to go early as there will be waiting list specially for outdoor dining. I believe we had to wait for around 30 minutes. But it was totally worth waiting.
We have been in contact with the owner for a year because we wanted a special dinner for our Anniversary that used to be on the menu. Jason was so accommodating! The brisket was exceptional, as were the portions. Jason made sure we had a wonderful meal to commemorate the occasion. We'll always eat here when we visit Lake Placid.
12/10 How DO they do it?? Maple chicken wings were out of this world, as were the bbq ribs. All the sauces are made in house. Fantastic lake views, or great to watch a game at the bar. Unbeatable happy hour from 4-6pm.
Best dinner restaurant in Lake Placid!! Went this evening to have a dinner. Hist happily gave us outdoor seat with lake placid view. Very nice relaxing atmosphere. Our server Logan was amazing and friendly. We ordered their award winning hit Buffalo wings, and they are absolutely insane, full of flavor, well balanced spice. Then we ordered smoked bowl with rib meat, another smoked bowl with chicken. Mashed potato with sprouts and corn bread and also ordered Tuna poke. Everything was amazing, mouthwatering. They have good selection of food. Definitely recommend this restaurant, can't wait to go back again. Nice clean restaurant.
We’ve been coming to lake placid for years and we just had what was BY FAR the most enjoyable meal here yet! Smoke Signals is high quality for a fairly affordable price. We will be back again and again :)
We tried the wings, pork wings, Mac n cheese, and stuffed pear. Pork wings were amazing, definitely a must try. Wings were fantastic, some of the best wings, very unique and juicy. The stuffed pear was great, but for the price (it is priced fairly) I would rather get some more meat. The Mac was good, I wouldn't call it exceptional, but I was a good side dish. I would eat it again, but wouldn't order it individually. Staff were wonderful, attentive, and professional. We ended up going to smoke signals twice in our 3 day trip. Ix highly recommend!
Awesome BBQ place on the lake. We had the Sampler for 2, includes: ribs, brisket, pulled pork, 2 pieces of cornbread and two sides. We got collard greens and bacon Mac and cheese, all of it outstanding. Check it the photos, the smoke ring on the ribs and the brisket is no joke. Eat here, you won't regret it.
FAVORITE DINNER IN L.P. Our family chose Smoke Signals after a recommendation from local friends. The view was fantastic, the service was great, but the food.......EXCELLENT! Our favorite eatery in Lake Placid. Worth the wait, but save yourself time and reserve a wait time online. The wait times while we were there was 3 hours!!!! Totally worth it though to reserve early.
Highly recommended!!!!! This restaurant is located in Lake Placid, New York and they have the best food in that area. I ordered a full rack of ribs with house BBQ sauce and my husband ordered the Brisket French Dip and they tasted like heaven. Their portions are massive. We could barely finish half of our food, but on the other hand, we couldn’t stop eating. Their homemade barbecue sauce is sweet and spicy and very unique. I will absolutely be going back for more!!!
Wow. I am a picky eater, I never finish my plate, and I always eat my salad. I did not eat my salad, cleaned my plate. The meal I had was beyond awesome. It was pork chop with blue cheese sauce and chutney. With a side of broccoli Rabe, and creamy garlic mashed potatoes. Incredible. Sucks I live in Michigan!
Scratch made food from bbq sauce to all house smoked meats. Very tasty. Personally I had the ruben. It is unique to have house cured and smoked corned beef. It definitely elevated the ruben over most. They let the meat shine and do not skimp on portions, including the homemade fries. Servers were very attentive, refilling water constantly, gave extra napkins and wet wipes without asking. Convenient location right along the main drag in Lake Placid, directly across the street from public parking.
Delicious food and excellent service! 🌟 As someone with severe food allergies, I was extremely grateful that my server was so knowledgeable on allergens. We had the beef brisket, swordfish, and a kid's meal for the little. Everyone left happy!
We came here after hiking Cascade Mountain so suffice to say, we were starving! My husband and I had the sampler for two, and my brother ordered their bbq nachos. The food was out of this world! The establishment is very clean and the service is great. If you ever find yourself in Lake Placid, don’t consider any other restaurant in the area. Eat here!
We had a wedding here in July and it was incredible! Ashlyn helped us with every question under the sun and ensured everything went great. The day-of staff were fantastic and were so quick to help us with anything or get anything we needed. They even set up for the lakeside ceremony, which was awesome. Everything went SO smoothly and the food was divine. How many weddings have burnt ends?! Smoke Signals as a wedding venue is a hidden gem! (photos by Jason Hupe)
The food is amazing, and the service was so friendly and prompt. We brought our baby and it was a seamless dining experience. I’m impressed!
10/10. For our first night in Lake Placid, we decided to come to Smoke Signals. The wings are out of this world. The house salad had a maple vinaigrette that was to die for!! My husband got the brisket which he LOVED and I had the best NY strip Ive had in my life. Our server was Tiffany and she was amazing! Would definitely come again.
We stopped here for dinner while in town this weekend. Was worried due to it being a Saturday night, but they seated us right away. We had an amazing view of the water. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was amazing. We got the nachos which I highly recommend, they were so good. My husband got the pig wings which he loves, he thought the sauce was one of the best he has ever tasted and he's very picky about sauce. We also got ribs, macaroni and cheese and fries. Needless to say we couldn't finish everything, but it was all very good.
Everything was so good. The service was amazing, made great recommendations, food was amazing. And the views were even better. We got a table around 2:30pm on a Sunday and there was plenty of space for our group outside by the water. Would definitely go again to try their dinner menu.
Made reservations which was super easy, walked in to a cozy table like rockstars. Greeted by a kitchen backer or bust man who was super friendly, then our server was super friendly. She checked on ingredients for me, menu was labeled good with some vegan options -dairy free is what I was looking for. We had a nice meal, drinks and things were great until the young hostess walked by giving me the side eye. I didnt realize what or why until the third time and realized she wants the table. So this made me feel rushed, asked Tiffany (who was amazing) if we could change our desert to go then my guy couldn't wait to eat the carrot cake anyhow so we stayed anyhow. This young girl most likely doesnt know the effect she has, train her up, simple conversation. Reviews said dancing and I didnt see any of that. Overall, it was great! Tuna wonton great and drinks were strong!
This place was amazing! They have a good selection of drinks, and they do not only have beer on tap, they also have some mixed drinks as well. We had some wings as the started, we had the dry rub, which isn't my favorite, but they tasted good. For entre, I had the flatliner burger, and it was amazing! I would highly recommend it. I had it with coleslaw as a side, and it was perfect to have a bite of burger, then slaw. The brisket was also amazing. The only suggestion I have is to have a bottle of the house BBQ sauce on the table to add to the meals! We had Logan as our server, and he gave a list of the specials, and he gave us recommendations which I always appreciate! I would highly recommend a visit here!
My girlfriend and I have come to lake placid for 3 years and always see a line out the door at this restaurant. This year we finally had the opportunity to try it and see if it lived up to the hype. I got the chicken wings and brisket, the wings were very crispy and the brisket was so tender that it would fall apart from just looking at it. My girlfriend got tacos (chicken and pulled pork) and to her surprise she loved the pulled pork more than the chicken. Both meals came with their in house chips which were also delicious! Portion sizes were huge (you might have enough for a snack later)! It’s safe to say that it did live up to the hype and we will 100% be coming back next year! 3 years later and we’re back. We ended up going two nights in a row! Both had the tacos the first night and they were all delicious! Had the gyro bites as the starter where were so tender and delicious! Second night we went we got the pulled pork sandwich which she ate quickly! I had the smoked Ruben which was amazing as well! Got a side of fries that were also very good! Service was quick and fresh as usual. Very much recommended.
I highly recommend this place. The food and service were phenomenal. Everyone was super friendly so it was a great experience. My brother and me will stop again when we are in the area.
We had our wedding cocktail hour and reception here after our ceremony. It was the perfect place for our rustic vibe. And the food is incredible. A tasting was included in booking our event here and we were beyond amazed with everything we tried. We chose the carving prime rib station with horseradish cream, carving citrus cider and herbed smoked turkey station, garlic mashed potatoes, cornbread and cheddar bacon mac n cheese and the house salad with cornbread croutons, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions and maple balsamic dressing. Our priority in choosing our reception venue was the food. For our cocktail hour appetizers, we chose the mushroom toast, ahi tuna wontons, pastrami toast points and smoked pork belly & grilled pineapple skewers. Our guests raved about the mushroom toast. My favorites were the pastrami toast and ahi tuna wontons. But they were all delicious. Jason worked with us throughout the year with scheduling our tasting, finalizing our menu and guest count, and allocating times for us to come in before the restaurant opened to work on setting up our decor. The staff was so nice and accommodating. We were late in starting our ceremony and therefore delayed in getting to our cocktail hour but they were helpful upon us arriving with getting everything back on track. They also saved one of every appeziter from cocktail hour for myself and the groom to have once we arrived. The bartenders made great drinks. Everyone was just so nice and we couldn't be more grateful for everything they did for us to make our night special.
Crazy good ADK Gold smoked wings! The brisket is smoky, tender, moist, and perfectly seasoned. A really nice bark on it as well. 10/10. Our server Michelle was super friendly and attentive. The other staff also walked around to make sure you have what you need (need more sauce, napkins, condiments, water etc). Priced is pretty darn good for the portions you get. You'll definitely be doggy bagging some of it home. View of Mirror Lake is amazing. This place is checks all the boxes!
The place looked packed All the time. We made up our mind to have Linner as most of the restaurants close at around 9/9:30pm. We were monitoring the website’s waitlist feature. Though the restaurant opens at 4pm we were on waitlist by 4:30pm. The system for the waitlist for the best in town. We got automated texts when the table was ready. It was well thought of. The best dish of the day for us Was the BBQ nachos. The pulled pork was so soft it melted in your mouth. Hands down the best. The portion more than filling. Felt more to be a main than an spritzer. Moving on to tacos the chicken tacos was the best of the three tacos. All entrées are sold as a la carte and so we ordered a side order of fries. But regretted ordering it as it was way too much food for a couple. The food was the best we’ve had at Lake Placid over a 3 day trip. The view over mirror lake made the food all the more enjoyable. Overall a very well thought and executed operation. Disposable utensils and plates that suit the ambience. Perfect place to visit if you have a covid concern. The execution of the covid guidelines was the best. Bottom line, a must go to place for the tasty food and the thoughtfulness of the whole operations.
First time in Lake Placid and this place didn't disappoint. Got the brisket and OMG was it huge and delicious. It could have been a meal for 3 people to share and pricing was very fair. Highly recommend going here. All meats are smoked in house to perfection. Can't wait to go here again and try other meats.
My favorite place to eat in Lake Placid with a beautiful view, very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and I had the best rib eye of my life here, it was a special so not a regular menu item but so amazing! the blue cheese and onions were perfect. My son got ribs and wings and soup and loved all of it. This is a great place to eat after a day of skiing when you need a big hearty meal with lots of protein to feed those muscles!
Great BBQ with high quality ingredients. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, and the wait can be long, but it’s well worth it. The queue moves quickly as the service and preparations are fast. The dishes arrive at the table very quickly. The ribs, chicken wings, and briskets are all amazingly tender and flavorful. The house salad is refreshing in an otherwise hearty meal. The smoked bowl is probably the most decadent item on the menu. It is delicious but fills the cholesterol quota for the month.
I see why this place is packed every time we visit Lake Placid, the BBQ here is awesome! The restaurant is also really beautiful inside with amazing views, and the service today was great. We had what was probably one of the best pulled pork sandwiches and pieces of corn bread ever. We couldn't recommend Smoke Signals highly enough. It's one of the nicest restaurants to visit in the Lake Placid area.
We had an awesome dinner here! I was worried we wouldn't get a table, because there were no reservations but we were seated right away. The service and food were awesome! We started with the Maple BBQ ribs. For dinner, I got the pulled pork and my BBQ loving husband got the ribs. All 3 were exceptional!
We have been in Lake Placid twice and made sure to come back it was so good. The sauce is great as it the meat and sides. The service of the guy filling the waters was great. Our main waiter could have been better getting us refills and checking on us as well as talking so we could hear him as it was a little loud at the time. The view of the lake is great.
Food was delicious, our server was really nice and accommodating. The view was very pretty. We got the bbq chicken nachos, smoked chicken sandwiches and the prime rib sandwich. Lots of meat on them and plenty of food for us. Parking is right across the road, super easy to find parking g for us.
What a great find. Just arrived in Lake Placid mid afternoon after a day of hiking and saw the sign outside of Smoke Signals saying Happy Hour, and outdoor lakeside patio, so headed in, and so glad I did. Was escorted out to their patio deck bar right at the waterfront, just when I thought I hit jackpot with the view, the food and drink didn’t disappoint. Great happy hour offerings. Had an unbelievable all dressed nachos with rib meat, corn, beans, cheese, salsa, all over won tons! A complete game changer, forget nacho chips, wontons is the way to go, absolutely delicious, polished it off along with an order of potato skins, and washed it all down with a mudslide, and I was happy happy. The view, food, drink and of course the great staff, this place is a gem. Will definitely go back, highly recommended.
Honestly it was absolutely amazing. I have eaten a lot of wings in my lifetime and these are the best I have every had. Smoked with the house bbq 😋 Just wow. Got the nachos with pulled pork. Those were delicious as well. The service was excellent. Absolutely top notch place. The prices seem steep but after eating the food i was happy to pay them. The whole place was amazing. Absolutely beautiful and had a great view. Very nice outdoor seating area , we did not get to use it because it was cold and raining but next time I am in town I certainly will try. I would have to call this a "must stop" place in lake placid.
Tons of gluten free options. Wait staff was super helpful, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Parking in the area can be tough, but the resteraunt has great vibes, and is right on the lake for when it gets nicer out. I got the brisket with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw and it was AMAZING (and big portions). Two improvements they could make: have a squeeze bottle of BBQ sauce on the table, and chop the red onions smaller in the Cole slaw.
Wow! The food was breathtaking. The ribs, the chicken, veggies, and corn bread and biscuits were perfect. This place had the BEST ribs that I have ever had, and that is hands down. I will be back to LAKE PLACID next time with my family, this time was for business. The first place that I am going to eat at is Smoke Signals. I rate this place a perfect 10!
Great place and very good food! I had a small plate with brisket, potato and cheese. It was a little bit too greasy for because the potato was deep fried and the brisket already had the natural fat, so this plate would be a lot better and lighter to the taste if the potato was boiled or baked (the oil from the brisket would be more “clean”). I personally don’t like competition with grease/oil with meat in my plate. My husband had the sandwich and it was good. Good cheesecake ❤️.
Reservations recommended. Absolutely delicious dishes. I had to order the brisket as it's their signature dish and it was a HUGE portion. The photos really don't do the size justice and I couldn't finish the plate. The wings are also really tasty and the ghost pepper hot bbq has the perfect amount of kick.
Loved this place! It had a great atmosphere. Low lighting and the smell of good food. The food was so good and plenty. My girlfriend and I had enough to keep for leftovers. Went on a friday night during Thanksgiving season. The wait was about 45 minutes. Had the bbq nachos and brisket mash special that they were serving. I can just picture my dinner when thinking about this place. Will go back again. Best dinner had in the Lake Placid area!
The vibe is very cozy, and the lighting is nice, with little candles on the tables and the overhead lights dim. The view of the lake is the perfect backdrop for an excellent meal! The food here is phenomenal. I cannot say enough good things about the brisket burnt end entree. It is insane, ordered it two nights in a row. We also had the smoked chicken bbq nachos, the pork belly cinnamon roll, and the smoked reuben, they were all excellent! The cranberry maragarita is also super tasty. The portions of everything are huge! Every waitress we've had there has been very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely will be back!
Thank goodness they do takeout. There was not a reservation to be had in town, so we did take out and are at our hotel. The food was good. The coleslaw was different than we were used to, but the pulled pork was good. The ribs were great. The brisket French dip was good too.
Walked in to an awesome atmosphere for a party gathering upstairs on New Year's Eve. The space was ample big enough. The BBQ buffet hit the spot! The shining diamond of the night was the spectacular service of the servers. Always had a smile. Hustled all night to keep the space clean. The bartender was phenomenal. The overall decor sets the mood for a nice relaxing warm evening even if it is 20⁰ and snowing outside. Our experience was worth every penny. Thank you!
Great food and generous portions! We tried the Brisket French Dip, Pig Wing, BBQ Nachos, and the Double Bacon Cheeseburger from the kid's menu. We were a group of six (4 adults and two 10-year-old girls), and the portion sizes were huge - more than enough to fill us all up. The Brisket French Dip was definitely the standout - highly recommend it! The Pig Wing, on the other hand, was just ok. I had high expectations for it, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. Overall, it's a great place to stop by if you're near Lake Placid.
Our group mostly ordered the in-house smoked meats and it was the right choice. The brisket will easily feed 2 normal adults so remember that and divide the price in half. The cook on the meat and the flavor were spot on. Juicy, tender and full of smoky goodness. The burnt ends were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They fall apart when you put them in your mouth. They do have a dessert menu but after the fabulous dinner, my recommendation is to skip it and grab something from one of the shops that specialize in dessert that are on either side of the restaurant. Our server Tanner (sp?) has worked there for 4 years and was absolutely amazing. Not only was she quick and efficient, she knew the menu inside and out. She made recommendations, kept up with our drinks, made sure everything was up to par and that we didn't need anything else. And she did it all with a big AUTHENTIC smile on her face that you could hear in her voice. If you go there, and she is working, ask to be seated in her section. You will be glad you did. Just don't ask her what's for dessert 😆.

The brisket melts in your mouth. But the 2 hour wait (with joining the wait list at 5pm) made me dock a star. The burnt ends were a bit too greasy and had too much sauce. The pulled pork was meh. The cornbread was really moist. The brussel sprouts were good. Service was good and the views were really phenomenal.
We had searched reviews for a while to determine where to eat in Lake Placid for our first visit. Smoke Signals did not make the short list, however we had decided to make a decision while strolling the street. We were looking at the menu posted outside the restaurant and a group of people were leaving and we heard them say “well that sure was worth the wait”. So we decided that was a good enough endorsement for us. The restaurant is a good size and the tables turn over at a good pace. The girl at the front said 30min wait and I don’t think we even waited that long. Our server Lori was great and we tried the sampler for two as she recommended which was really good. The restaurant has a bar vibe to it and was a little rowdy at the bar but everyone was having a good time so we didn’t mind. It didn’t take long to get our drinks or appies or main and the food came out fresh and hot. We would eat here again.
We have tried to eat here a few times , this time we reserved a table (a must here). The restaurant is right on main street with some lake front seating. We came in at 630 and promptly got seated and soon had drinks. The service was professional and warm. We enjoyed a beer and the house whiskey then ordered some food. Our food came out on biodegradable bamboo plates and the food was fantastic. We both had plenty to eat and Everything was smoked to perfection. The only downside was cost but it's well worth it for a treat.
The food here was ok. Really depends on what you get, however the Hanger steak was very small and over cooked. The salad was a good portion and the Brussels sprouts were quite good. The service here was decent, however the server pouring water into a cup also poured water onto me without realizing….
Impromptu stop for dinner with friends The duck fat fries are epic Brussels sprouts looked amazing BBQ rib nachos could have done with more meat but were huge and delicious Burnt ends - all good . I had the ribs and they were dry which was a shame and why it’s a 4 not a 5 . The bar maid had no idea what lager was either but maybe my accent threw her . Good brisket and good service !
Very good BBQ in Lake Placid . The menu selections were varied and appealing. The food well prepared. We particularly enjoyed the Brussels Sprouts which were well balanced and cooked to perfection.
The location is ideal and gorgeous, but we were slightly disappointed with the food. The brisket entree is more than enough for 2 people to share, so keep that in mind! It comes with 2 slabs of meat, one was really dry and the other was super fatty. I wouldn't recommend that dish. But the nachos with rib meat were good!
Smoke Signals is conveniently located right on Main Street and offers food that goes a step beyond standard comfort fare. The menu features familiar favorites with a slightly more elevated touch, making it a good middle ground between casual dining and something a bit more polished.
Definitely over ordered for just two people but it was all so delicious, portions were huge. Brisket, duck breast taco, burnt end nachos. My favorite was the Fall Canapés which was a mix of pork belly, cinnamon honey, blue cheese and caramelized apples. Great flavor profiles worked so well together. The Mirror Lake Cosmo and the Old Fashined were great drinks to start it all off. Will be back! Great view of mirror lake, making reservations on their website strongly recommended if you want to sit by the windows.
Good view of the lake if you are seated toward the back of the restaurant even if you are not directly seated on the patio. Waiter was very attentive. The sides were not that great. Mac and cheese was bland besides the pork on it, the mashed potatoes were the best side. Corn dip really only tasted like corn with taco seasoning. Chicken wings were phenomenal. Crispy on the outside but meaty on the inside. Brisket was also amazing. Portion size was large, we could’ve shared our meal. That being said, it is on the more expensive side when comparing to other places but it is good!
I’ve been trying to get to this place for a couple of months and we finally did. If your going on a Saturday evening make sure you call first sometimes they take reservations and sometimes you have to just arrive and find out if there busy. The food was excellent and the staff was great we sat at the bar because we didn’t have reservations which was fine. The calamari was over cooked but other than that the food was excellent. I was hesitant to order the burnt ends but it was amazing and my wife love the pork belly truffle Mac and cheese. Overall a great experience for my first time. We will be back but we will call ahead of time.
The salad pictured was phenomenal! Cesar Salad au gratin, absolutely amazing! The whiskey sour was also so special, loved it! Our dinners were great too except the “carrots” served with the ribs. They were almost inedible. They were covered in a thick, dark sauce I can’t even describe. Wished I’d chosen a different side. Other than that, we had the pork chop, ribs, brisket gyro, and an order of the nachos as an appetizer. All of there were great.
Big BBQ spot right off main Street in Lake Placid. Bar area is a good size and they have an impressive whiskey selection (big spenders can try some Pappy here). They even offer whisky flights which is a neat idea. Bartenders were friendly and the seasonal drinks offerings were great (The Mule was delicious). Menu has many of the BBQ staples including brisket and ribs. Prices are high but the location is hard to beat. Apps were decent (Mac and cheese was a bit bland) but the wings were tasty. Ribs had a great BBQ flavor and were a good size. Definitely will be back!
I love this restaurant, I have been coming here a long time and if this was only based on the experience coming here and eating the food while I am there then this would be an easy five star review. The atmosphere is great, the waiters are all super friendly and helpful, the food comes out super quick and when you are eating it, it tastes great!! The one problem with the restaurant is the last few times I have eaten here the have been consequences later on, so while I still think it is worth the cost, you either have to have a stronger stomach than me or are willing to tank some time alone on the porcelain throne
We came here off the recommendation of one of the shops in town for dinner. The view was incredible, this was in the middle of winter during the ice festival. It had snowed before and the atmosphere was beautiful. The wings were great! Good dry rub and size and flavor. While the service was slow though and I understand some of the other reviews in regards to this, I disagree with the lack of concern as everyone seemed very concerned, helpful, and trying. There are simply at times too high of a ratio of customers to staff. The staff personalities were always caring. The brisket is representative of the photos in these reviews. As a southerner I was excited but found the entree of brisket to be too fatty and not enough flavor just grease which was a shame. But the tacos looked amazing. And the brisket nachos were excellent. I think I'd return to give them another chance.
We decided to try this place because it had the highest ratings in town. While the food wasn’t bad, it honestly didn’t live up to the hype. It felt more like a “view-first” restaurant — the kind of place that gets attention more for the scenery than the actual dining experience. Our server was lovely — warm and friendly, which we really appreciated. But the experience took a turn when the outdoor heater suddenly turned off on a chilly, windy day. A man (possibly a staff member or manager) came over to change the gas for the table next to us. When we politely asked about ours, he responded curtly, saying, “We don’t have that much gas!” in a very rude tone. His attitude was cold and dismissive the entire time — walking around with a scowl, making it uncomfortable for guests who came to enjoy a meal. The wings were tasty, and the brisket came in a huge portion — Honestly, it might be better to reduce the portion a bit and offer a more reasonable price. (It was $42) The side dishes, like the coleslaw and apple slaw, were just ok nothing special — and honestly felt a bit poorly prepped. The vegetables felt like they’d been chopped in a rush — roughly prepped, and the red onions especially stood out — huge, uneven chunks that felt like they were just hastily chopped and tossed in. The mac and cheese was also quite heavy and lacked finesse. Service was very slow, possibly due to being short-staffed — it took quite a while just to get our check. And speaking of the check, seeing a pre-suggested 30% tip on the receipt was a bit off-putting, especially after such a mixed experience. Overall, without the view, I’m not sure this restaurant would have the same reputation. A lot of potential, but the hospitality and execution need improvement to justify the hype.
Probably one of the best options in the area. The Brisket is the option to go for in my opinion. It is truly outstanding. The Ribs were good but there is room for improvement. The Steaks are definitely overpriced for what they are (they are good, just not worth the price). Service is OK, maybe we got the team on a bad day as they seemed tired. Dessert is underwhelming. Beer selection is great. It is definitely worth a visit when in the area for the Brisket.

Came for dinner, party of 6. The food was not as expected, the cocktails were disappointing and we had to return one of them. The side dishes were good. 5 meat lovers that were very disappointed and one vegetarian that stayed hungry. Our waiter was great and did his best, unfortunately that wasn't enough.
We were excited to try this place by looking at the menu, and it had vegetarian options for 2 of us. We 5 adults thought the food was just ok for the high price. We put our name in for the waitlist and they text you when table is ready. It got to an hour and we had a bad feeling so we went back in to check on it. They put our phone number in wrong! It may be a good idea to have someone read it back? After we got a table, we waited at least 15 min for someone to greet us and get started. Pulled pork was kind of dry, the ribs were a bit tough, the nachos tasted pretty good, but all of the toppings were just in one pile on top. The stuffed pepper should have been roasted longer, and the filling of rice was sort of dry and not much flavor. The pepper was small too, so that person left hungry. The Boursin Mac and cheese was different. Not much flavor or cheesiness for the price. The mashed potatoes were kind of a puddle on the plate. Maybe we were there on a bad night? Short staffed maybe? New staff? The ambiance is beautiful inside and out, and it smells so good inside like smoked foods. I’m sad to leave a review like this, but it looks like others have had good food. So maybe it’s a consistency thing. Lake placid restaurants seem all pricey though too, so our expectations are higher.
We got the brisket with mash potato and mac as 2 sides. Let’s just say that only the mash potato is living up to the high review this place has. Most of the brisket is incredibly dry (only the fat cap is done well and juicy), we had to smother it in bbq sauce to choke it down. You do get 2 HUGE chunk of brisket for the $42 dish though. But the flavor at this price point? I don’t think we’d rush back anytime soon. It’s unfortunate because we really had high hopes for this place after reading so many good reviews. Maybe we caught them on an off day.

As a bbq lover I made it a point to get here during a week's stay in Lake Placid. I wish I had passed. The brisket is very different. The experience did not meet the reviews and hype of others. …
I really wanted to like Smoke Signals given all the hype, but my experience was disappointing from start to finish. I went in to pick up a takeout order and was immediately greeted with attitude. After that, I stood around for another 15 minutes being completely ignored. Multiple staff members had to “check the kitchen” to find my order—only to discover that another customer had accidentally taken it. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and professionalism was frustrating. They did remake the order fairly quickly and offered a free drink, which I appreciated. But the food didn’t redeem the experience. The pulled pork was dry and lacked flavor, and the cornbread was borderline inedible—dry, crumbly, and oddly bitter. The mac and cheese had almost no flavor at all. The only real highlights were the mashed potatoes and fries, which were both decent. Honestly, I don’t understand why people wait over an hour for this place when there are so many other great options in the area. Between the poor service and underwhelming food, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.
Made our 5 hour drive /weekend trip specially to eat here. Not anywhere near our expectations. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great. The food lacked seasoning on everything and their house sauce was sweet and not impressive. We ordered multiple items to try since this was our main goal. Over $200 bill and left hungry. All were ok but nothing was great. The town in great. The scenery is beautiful so I’m glad there are other things not to be so disappointed in.
We went to this place twice while in Lake Placid this week. Once for a couple of drinks and once for dinner. The drinks were ok, nothing fancy about it. THE DINNER WAS AWFUL. I ordered the SWORDFISH AND IT WAS DRY WITH DRY COUS COUS AND SOME SORT OF MANGO THING. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Order wings or a burger because those seem ok, or maybe their ribs but their fish was mediocre for that price. I would recommend going somewhere else for dinner or just do not order the terrible fish. One of those dishes you regret paying for. One of us had the "burned end dinner" which was not worth our money either. Poor service also. The table was not clean!!

From out of town, came in raving to my friend of this place. Soon as we get in, waiting for a table head over to bar to get a drink while we wait. Bartender check our ID’s then walks away for 5 minutes picking up dishes talking to a waitress making drink orders coming in from tables. Okay that’s fine if that was first priority. Now sitting for 10 minutes and he pours us all waters and not offers to take our drink order once again. We get water and sit there as he serves the guy next to us another beer but not us.. why unsure. We get to our table and to hear that happy hour is strictly for bar only and not table service. Hmm makes sense why we were stalled on our drink orders. So forth got food food was not good ribs were hard to chew way overcooked. Plates are pricey and for paying a good buck, I expect better food being served. Won’t be returning again. Used to be one of my favorite spots.
So completely frustrating. We came in super early (5pm) and asked for a reservation for 9, completely understanding that this is a big group. We waited for well over an hour with 5 small children and then were told that we couldn’t sit at a table that had just previously held 8 adults because it “wasn’t big enough for us” and also because “the table next to them was part of the same group and we had to wait til they paid”. And yet they say other people in the place we wanted to sit. Extremely disrespectful. Not a place to bring children or expect respectful seating!
Ribs were dry and very little edible meat. Like they had been left over for couple days. Mashed potatoes were like glue. So disappointed. Husbands brisket was hard and mostly fat. We left hungry and out Out of $80! Do not recommend, tourist trap!!
This place is overrated; I can't imagine how it has such high ratings. It was my birthday, and based on the good reviews and views, we decided to go there. My first impression was that the staff seemed exhausted. They forced smiles, but it was clear they needed a good rest. I understand the owners might be cutting back on staff due to the low season, which affects the service. When offered a table inside, I made the mistake of choosing to sit outside. The deck, while offering beautiful views, was a huge concrete slab that moved alarmingly. It was unsettling, and when I asked what was happening, our waiter Abby explained it was a floating deck—a massive slab of concrete on metal pillars, not even over water. This was the first time I’d encountered such a thing, and it didn’t feel safe, even if it was code-compliant. We couldn’t enjoy our food with the floor shaking like we were on a boat. I requested to move inside, as we were initially offered, but the hostess said she’d speak with our waiter. The inside was empty, and I asked for a table with a view. When I wondered why the waiter, not the hostess, was deciding on seating, Abby told us it was because we had a dog and couldn’t sit inside, as if she was doing us a favor. It’s a service animal for my autistic son, and nobody even asked about it when we entered and were offered seating inside. Abby insisted we could only sit at the bar, claiming they were fully booked on a Monday during the low season. I took pictures of all the empty tables when we left, as I had promised her. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. We didn’t even finish our meal, though I must admit the brisket and mashed potatoes were good enough to take home. If you mistakenly choose this low-service place, sit inside for your safety unless you enjoy eating in a storm, and order the brisket with mashed potatoes. Despite the poor experience, we paid a 20% tip, understanding that the pressure to overwork from the owners is likely making these poor employees go nuts. The day before, we went to Luna next door, which felt like a Michelin-starred restaurant in comparison. Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures, but it’s true that we often take good experiences for granted until we encounter a bad one.
