I was amazed at this place. The service was very attentive, thank you for my ice pack.... I had burnt my hand before I got there and when our server found out she brought me an ice pack. I have lived in the A.V for 23 years and never been here. I love this place ! The beer is cold and the food is great !!!

Furniture and ambiance is a little dated but adds to the feel and history of the place. All this becomes irrelevant though if you have a glass of vino and help yourself to their wonderful rib eye steaks!

I went yesterday and was immediately greeted and felt welcomed. I ordered a filet mignon with mac and cheese and came with a huge salad. Delicious!! The drinks were great!! Im definitely going back!!

My hubby and I came here for New Years Eve, although it was a little late for steak, we had fried foods which were all good. The staff made us feel at home while we welcomed the new year 2022!

Maxdons, is a hole in the wall spot in the Av that has a great vibe and also has great food. The girls that work are familiar faces from 5 years ago. Great place.

Quaint little restaurant. It reminded me of restaurants in Massachusetts, dim, dark but lovely. I had their seared ahi tuna and a canned IPA. I didn't like how the ahi came out. It had a crispy outside.

Best steaks I've ever had. Even though it's a bar, my mother and sister are still very comfortable coming here. Great salad bar too. Normally that's not something to comment about. But they actually have a great salad bar. Wonderful soup too. I love their cheddar broccoli soup. I always get two bowls.

This is the definition of a hidden gem, the ribeye I’ve had at maxdons is easily better then Flemings or Morton’s , every time I come up here to Lancaster to visit my father I have to stop here and eat a steak with a few Johnny walkers . Highly recommend this place if steaks are your thing.

Great food !! The staff is so polite. Starting with the phone call, the hostess was very informative and amicable. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed, great vibe. The food was really fresh and the ribeye steak delicious. They cook the steaks on a grill right there in the dining room area. The whole experience was great. I have been driving by this place for 21 years and never knew they had food like this. Mind blown.

Great mix of the typical dim bar scene and the ambiance of a steak restaurant combined. Provide indoor and outdoor seating both are comfortable. Staff is adamant about checking to see if you are doing ok. Mature crowd of people thank God so it's drama free and u can look forward to hearing some great songs played by the patrons. LOVE LOVE LOVE Maxdons! It's got an old-school vibe, strong drinks, and amazing steaks. It's definitely an icon in the AV. I haven't lived there for several years but my husband and I compare many places to Maxdons still and, of course, we always have to go whenever we're in town.

New to the AV. Went with friends and was surprised it was a bar. The steak was amazing. I had a bite of my friends chucken and it was SO tender and juicy! Definitely recommend the food. And the service was great too!!

The atmosphere is perfect for adults and dates. Kimmie at the bar was sooo amazing. Very accommodating while attending to the conversations across the bar. It was a Monday, but felt like a later weekday. An amazing place to chill, get a few rounds, dinner was above expectations and staff was great!!!

OMG the steak was EXCELLENT! I have lived near this place for 7 years and never thought to go there thinking it was a dive bar. It kinda is... no one under 21 admitted, pretty dark inside and the mouths of some of the loud locals hanging out there can be offensive. The neighborhood is a little sketchy but I left with my car intact. We had a mixed appetizer of Clam strips, Sweet potato fries and onion rings. All good but the clam strips were a little burned and the cocktail sauce was weird. The dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries was weird too but DELICIOUS! My steak was unbelievable! Fat and gristle trimmed so that I could eat every bite and the waitress ( yes the waitress) grilled it to perfection right there in the back of the dining area. I thought that was kinda strange but it felt like I was eating with friends and she was right there to prepare it. The bartender was very friendly and makes perfect apple martinis. It is not your average steakhouse but somewhere you definitely should check out if you are steak connoisseur like myself!

The food there is delicious. I have been there twice. The first time I had the steak dinner and the 2nd time was today and I had the cheeseburger. I was there for lunch around 12:30pm and there was only one server there. She handled everything very well . She took our order, cooked it and brought it to our table ! Wow! She did everything with grace. I did not catch her name but she had blonde hair. 👌

I have been here over a dozen times and had never tried the steak even though there is a sign outside that says best steaks in town!!! I finally did and ordered the small Rib-eye. Nothing small about it and it was cooked perfectly to medium rare... Well seasoned and juicy, steak sauce was not needed as the flavor was amazing as is. I highly recommend trying a steak from here.

Went here for lunch with a co-worker that told me about it. I had the 19oz Ribeye, and during another visit from work I also tried the build your own burger. All the meat was fantastic. The Ribeye and burger were cooked perfectly. The service was excellent also, the female servers kept our drinks full, and consistently checked in with us to ensure everything was good. I took my Father here on a Sunday afternoon, and he enjoyed it also. Very comfortable on a hot day, dimly lit, very relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

OMGosh we got dinner what a surprise! I ate my soup, salad bar and then started on my ribeye steak w/ mushrooms and onions, garlic mashed potatoes and yes garlic bread. Mia is an excellent cook. It was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. Never imagined it would taste this good. Will be back many more times. Loved it

I really enjoyed this place . The food was very yummy and flavorful . The steaks are huge . The drinks have the option for a large size so I got a large midori sour for like 15$: the environment is very chill . Not packed . Plenty of parking. Didn’t get to take photos of the food but it’s a place I would love to come back to. Definitely recommend if your a steak enthusiast

Fried pickles are amazing. Steaks are the best. No one under 21 allowed, so no screaming kids. Our go to date night!

Stopped into this place because I saw the pics of the bar, dark, old school, and tons of leather booths, which my fiancé was absolutely in love with! We ordered the appetizer sampler with fries, clam strips. Strips were really good and so was my Don Julio Margarita!

This is a hidden dive bar - you enter from the back, which looks like an employee entrance, which puts you into the restaraunt walking by the kitchen. This bar is cozy and not super loud and has pleasant service. The food is great - you can't go wrong with the steak or the seared ahi. Not a lot of options for draft beer (only Stella), but they have a pretty good selection of bottles.

My boyfriend and I have been going here off and now for the past two years and it's only going down hill. We waited over 15 minutes to even get someone to notice that we were there, it's a very small place. The waiter acted like she didn't want to be there. After that, found out that they no longer serve food off the menu after 9pm. It used to be after 11pm. And the filets aren't even cooked to the right temperature anymore, most of the time they are under.

The only reason this place is ok is because they have a decent menu and live bands. Waitresses are very nice too. Now to what's wrong about this place. The bartending was the worst by far in my life. I've been to plenty of bars and I always order an Adios. When I received my drink, it was a cluster of nasty. CHEAP LIQUOR is all I tasted, not to mention it had no sweetness to it. I'm sure that she didn't know how to make it a well. Every other drink I had was a cocktail of cheap liquor and little to no knowledge on how to even make it properly. By far, if you're going here, I suggest you only drink bottled alcohol. Avoid the woman bartender with the blue hair. She's very rude and a makes horrible drinks. p.s. The Mac and Cheese was incredible.

Went in on thursday afternoon and the bartender was not attentive at all. Fly in the appetizer basket and she told us that she is not responsible for the flies. Asked her to remove from the tab. After explaining the issue, she goes outside to smoke and talk about us to other customers. So unprofessional. Drinks were fabricated with mixes. Ugh!

Good news first: Our drinks came quickly. The staff was very friendly. Servers do not appear to have zones so you get more than one person making sure that you are OK. I did like the pub atmosphere, and I will most likely return for drinks again, they were pretty good. Their patrons, when I was there, were older people. They are talkative but in a lower voice to be respectful to those around them. If you are looking for a more mature environment away from adult children and bad karaoke this appears to be a good spot on Friday. The bad news: The sign says best steaks in town. Well technically I suppose they can say that seeing that there really is no other steak houses in this valley that are not a chain. I really did hear great things about the steaks here, sadly I was disappoined. The steaks are tough, and under seasoned. I ordered mine medium rare. You can see the server cooking your food since the kitchen is in the dining room. I use the term cooking loosely. All of our sides were microwaved. The worst part is that the girls hair was not tied back so she was touching her hair while cooking our food. I most likely will not be ordering food again if I return.

Literally witnessed the bartenders over serve an obviously drunk patron, and allowed them to drive. This bar is screaming for a fine and begging for a lawsuit. Not to mention the service is beyond horrible. I would not recommend this hole in the wall.

Thank you for your response Neal and my apologies it was the girls working today 7/17 My husband and myself just walked out after sitting there waiting for the 2 waitresses behind the bar who were to busy conversing between each other to come take our order. It wasn't busy there were 3 people besides us in the bar. We use to frequent maxdons alot before we moved always great food great service figured we are in town and wanted a good steak. I honestly feel because we weren't ordering drinks we didn't really matter but we were about to spend a minimum $100 on dinner and we tip good. Neal you need to tell your waitresses (the ones working 6/17 @ 5)just because someone orders a water to drink doesn't mean they're not going to spend good money and tip well. You lost a customer to black Angus tonight.

Decent steaks, but extremely low class staff. Needs complete management overhaul. Literally the worst place to hang out in the Lancaster area. The staff run on a tip sharing system, which in turn makes them extremely cold towards any concept of customer service. They literally prefer customers to not come in, as they only see it as an annoyance.

I ordered a medium well steak and it was extra pink and bloody the service was mediocre at best. The waiters where very slow they took there time to cater to our table and then accused us of not paying the bill. The establishment is run down and needs a makeover steak was not seasoned and the Mac and cheese had salt in it.

I found the prices at this establishment quite high, as I paid $40 for a margarita and a 22 oz tall can. It's fortunate that we chose to skip the food. While I had hoped to enjoy the experience, the prices were quite sobering and may deter future visits.
