A Perfect First Night in Italy at U Pescou After a long two days of travel, the last thing I felt like doing was heading out for a late dinner at 10 p.m.—but our boat captain insisted on taking us to U Pescou in Lavagna. And honestly, I’m glad he did. It was more than worth it. We started with a few shared plates: the Frittelle di Baccalà (salted cod fritters) and Panissa (fried chickpea flour)—both crispy, flavorful, and a great intro to Ligurian cuisine. From there, we moved on to the Seppie in Umido (cuttlefish stew with chickpeas and beets) and Totani alla Piastra (grilled squid), which were equally impressive—fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully cooked. The tuna tartare was light and bright, and we capped off the night with a perfectly balanced lemon meringue and rich tiramisu—a sweet ending to a memorable meal. The atmosphere was just as charming: the outdoor patio was shaded by a large vine-covered canopy, with an orange tree intertwined—exactly what you’d hope for on a warm Italian night. Even as the evening went on, the service remained attentive and welcoming. If you’re in Lavagna, U Pescou is absolutely worth a visit—especially if you want a true local experience with fantastic seafood and unforgettable ambiance.

U Pescou is a typical Ligurian restaurant. They serve some of the most authentic and delicious dishes from the ancient tradition of the land. They are kind. The service is fast and proper. The bill is just perfect. There's a reason why you can find a waiting line out of the restaurant if you don't book in advance. Each time I can go to Pescou I'm happy and I promise myself I'll go again and again. Follow my advice: you'll never regret!! Ps: just 4 start to ambient because in some rooms it can be a little too noisy. I recommend some insonorization materials.
We had amazing friend porcini. The fish was also fresh and well cooked. The food gets delivered very fast which is nice with kids. The back terrace is so pleasant.
Traditional Ligurian restaurant with high quality local dishes, friendly atmosphere and adequate prices. Suggest to try all local dishes that are usually listed in menu with unpronounceable names 😀

Best local restaurant in Lavagna if not the whole area. As usual ypu should reserve a table in advance, otherwise you risk to wait until 9/9:30pm. The quality of the food was amazing and the staff was, despite of the completely full house, very friendly and forthcoming. The food focuses on local sea food, so don't expect a hamburger...;) The prices are overly fair and vino blanco super tasty. Recommended!
Great experience for us! The bread that was brought to the table in the beginning was AMAZING! We told them that it was tasty and they brought us another basket 😁 (sadly we couldn‘t eat all of it bc the food was good as well) We also had the farinata and will definitely try to make it at home. The pizza with stracchino cheese was unbelievably good and the pasta (tortellini of some kind) with walnus sauce was very tasty as well. Friendly staff, highly recommend this place!

Great place to eat. Food is great, and excellent service. Despite being busy at the weekend, the staff went out of there way to find us a table, 2 days in a row. I definitely recommend U Pescou, if you are in the area.

Wow! Everything here was fantastic. Veal roast, home made noodles. Yummy trofie noodles with pesto. They have a local anchovie dish (butterflied, coated & deep fried) that would be nice to share for an appetizer to share (2-3 people) but was served as a main course. It's not at all salty like we get preserved. Nice desserts. Ciliegiolo wine was fantastic!!

We go here often, both for lunch and dinner. The seafood is always fresh and it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy a nice and authentic ligurian meal. At night they make farinata, dont miss it!

Good Ligurian cuisine and pizzas as well
We had bad luck because we ate some starters in the garden, they were good and tasty, but then it started raining and we could not eat the main dish. The restaurant was full so there was not a possibility of eating inside. We took the food with us, but of course, it got cold until we could eat it and it lists it's properties. A pity. Service was top, they are really fast and friendly. I hope for a better time to come and enjoy it.
Overall great experience and service. Unfortunately the Frito mixto was nothing special but everything else spot on!
