A delicious lunch enjoyed in a beautiful and thoughtfully designed little restaurant - the real feel of a neighbourhood restaurant with all the high end qualities. The considered attention to detail across food and interior design alike was a great touch - this was the perfect setting for a belated valentines lunch. Rarely these days does a meal out surprise you for the better, but this was happily the case at Dalla. The staff were wonderful and the food spectacular - I'm not sure how they produce such exquisite dishes from such a small kitchen. Some simple, some far more complex - both perfectly pleasing. Dalla punches way above its weight and I'd highly recommend you try it.

Dalla holds a special place in our hearts! We had an intimate wedding lunch here and our friends and family are still talking about how amazing the food was! From start to finish each course was a delight. We went to Puglia the day after and kept saying how nothing could beat Dalla’s standard of pasta. Super fresh and thoughtful food, very creative, gorgeous wine and the best tiramisu I’ve ever eaten. Special mention to Gianluca for his attentiveness and for making everything run so smoothly start to finish. Jess & Freddie :)

I loved this restaurant! Every detail was authentic from the subtle elegant design to the beautifully executed food. This chef understands Italian food to its core. It’s about letting ingredients sing without pretentious flourishes. I felt like I was transported to a discovered gem in Milano but happily for me it’s in London.

A fine balance between a family trattoria and a genuine introspection into Italian cuisine. There's a keen eye for minute details in the interior design. The wine-list is excellent, showing enthusiasm and diversity in its featured regions.

Where to begin?! The food was impeccable. Everyone in the know when it comes to excellent food in London has been raving about Dalla. I can see why. Everything was unbelievably good and it’s one of the best meals I’ve had in London recently. I highly recommend the anchovy and butter toast and the sea bass with cucumber and caper mayonnaise. Also, do not sleep on the pumpkin tortelli, it’s one of the best I’ve had! I liked that the coffee in the tiramisu was not too strong and the sour grape syrup that comes with the panna cotta is so unique. I wasn’t sure about it at first but grew to like it. The only downside is that the waiters were a little cold. I tried my hardest to be friendly but the service was not very warm. However, tall guy with facial hair, who I think is the head chef, was very smiley and welcoming so that was nice. He stands at the front as you enter and you can see him plating everything if you have the right table which was fun to see. I’ll definitely be back! A reservation is definitely required - it’s a very popular spot!

5 stars are just not enough to express our love for the restaurant and people there. We always come to Dalla whenever we travel to London. You can never go wrong with anything on the menu and their daily specials. With seasonal food and wine, they always surprise us with the best food! Their service is impeccable too! Lovely people running the restaurant with love and passion. My boyfriend planned a proposal there and they just nailed everything with a wonderful personal touch! Thanks Gen, Gian and Gianluca for calling London another home so much easier!

Amazing place — small and cozy, with a great vibe. The food feels truly Italian, with authentic flavours and that comforting touch of a grandma’s recipe. Loved it and will definitely go back.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING — we had the best birthday lunch ever! Every single thing we tasted was pure heaven.

Probably one of the best Italian restaurants in London! Everything we ordered, starter through desserts, was impeccable. We love how every single dish, even the simplest dish, was packed with flavour. Service was incredible too. Our server and Gen were super caring and thoughtful about all our needs and wishes. We never expected such wonderful experience and would definitely go back!

If I had a penny for every hyper authentic Italian restaurant, operated in a tiny space, headed up by Italian Canadians in London, I'd have 2 pennies. It's not much, but it's weird it happened twice! If you're interested in authentic Italian food that you won't see on almost any other menu outside of Italy, this is the place for you. The ingredients are treated with care, the cooking level is tremendous and the service is knowledgeable, kind and efficient. London desperately needs more craftsperson restaurants like this.

Mitchell Damota clearly has some serious kitchen chops. Everything we ate at this stylish little trattoria tucked away in a quiet corner of Hackney was absolutely delicious. We started with the panelle served with fried borage and Cantabrian anchovy, and the vignarola alla Romana — both beautifully executed. For mains, we shared two pastas: the orecchiette and the pansotti, each bursting with flavour and perfectly cooked. The by-the-glass wines (Alessandro Viola and Tanca Nica) were excellent picks, but next time I definitely want to take a proper look at their promising wine list. My only complaint was the noise: with lots of guests packed into a small space, we struggled at times to hear each other over the lively chatter and busy service. Be ready to rub shoulders and raise your voice a little — but aside from that, it’s a place I’d highly recommend. We will be back!

Ridiculously yummy. Got a last minute table for one outside on a Friday about half an hour before the booking. Amazing time to dine (around 6:30). There were plenty of table available inside and one available outside too. Had amazing service for the friendly staff who were very attentive to the menu and explaining specials and palates upon request. Very comfortable to come here as a solo diner. I ordered their beef tartare with some bread ordered separately too. A beautiful starter. Insanely good, so I understand why it is one of their staple plates that doesn’t leave their menu. Waited a little longer than I liked to received my main after my starter, however it seemed service was picking up inside so this wasn’t too bad. I had the Tagliatelle Deer Ragu which was rich and simple. Lovely flavours and majorly filling. A nice touch was that the entire bowl of parmigiana was left at the table which was lovely instead of a serving being offered. Drink was a campari spritz which was nice too. Overall, spent just over £55 including service charge. A splurge on a just because lunch maybe, but worth it for an occasion dinner, especially if you order one of their specials. Only downside I would have was the fact that both their specials were pork based, which I found strange. It’s always nice when there are options for the specials in terms of proteins. However this didn’t take away from my experience. Would love to come back soon.

Get everything on the menu. I’ve never eaten pasta with such a perfect texture. Staff were so helpful and the vibes are trendy without losing chill. Has preserved a local vibe despite stardom.

It's been a few years since I gave the "best pasta in London" seal of approval, but this charming little place in Hackney (Homerton) deserves it without a doubt. Absolutely amazing, loved everything about it but especially the pasta, beef tartare and migliaccio cake. Lovely decor and service, too, and I think it's perfect for small get together and dates — and l'd love to come back in the evening. Cannot recommend Dalla enough, 5 out of 5.

Immaculate experience from start to finish. The level of service was just the right balance between attentive and overbearing, fantastic wine selection and every dish was handled with great care. Fiordilatte bolognese al sambuco was an inspired dessert that required ordering twice

Dalla is an 11/10 - food, service, atmosphere and all. My partner and I both have a severe nut allergy and the staff made us feel very comfortable dining here. Our server Allison was incredible in making us feel at home, and her passion for the food and wine completely elevated our experience. I crave the day I am back in London to dine here again!

What an incredible experience! Stepping into DALLA feels like walking into a beloved and cozy grandmother's home, but with the finesse of a top-tier dining establishment. This little hidden gem masterfully blends the nostalgia of Italian home-cooked meals with subtle sophistication. The food is exceptional and really honours Italian regional cuisine - and it changes every week! Every dish is packed with flavour and care, from beautiful starters (personal favourite would have to be the iconic Vitello Tonnato) to silky handmade pastas. The service is impeccable, with staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about your experience. Extensive and impressive wine list too. The homely atmosphere is unmatched, making DALLA a rare gem, combining stunning food, heartfelt service, and a cozy charm that lingers long after your visit. Can't recommend it more!

Went on Saturday to celebrate a birthday and we had a great experience! Great menu and quality of ingredients. Everything was just delicious. Personal favourites: ossobuco and ravioli di maiale e seirass. We had to change our reservation few times to accommodate last minute changes in the amount of guests and the team has been always super kind with us and ensured we had the best experience. This was my second time at Dalla and I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Outstanding spot for delicious Italian fare. The raw bream and the chicory appetisers are excellent, the ravioli with mushrooms and the tortellini in brodo mains are AMAZING, and the pastiera is really yummy. The decor / ambiance is really light and lovely. The only downside is that the place is quite small and the service could’ve been better (eg they could have been more accommodating about moving tables esp as it was empty when we arrived and we didn’t want to be cramped). Nonetheless solid spot for food, will definitely be back!

Had a beautiful lunch at Dalla. The service was warm, attentive and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The food transported me straight back to my time in Italy. Every dish was thoughtful and full of flavour, but the ravioli in particular was outstanding. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian with heart!

I had lunch at Dalla last sunday and Dalla is my favorite restaurant in London now. The foods were so good, but the interior and the service made our restaurant experience better! The waiter had really chill, nice service which made me really comfortable. I definitely wanna visit again and try other dishes! Thank you 🎀

This cozy Italian gem embodies the essence of authenticity. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warmth that transcends the ambiance. The dishes, crafted with passion and precision, transport your taste buds to Italy. Each bite tells a story of tradition and mastery. Coupled with impeccable service, every moment spent here is a culinary journey worth savoring. Without hesitation, I highly recommend DALLA to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

Love it! I went with my partner to celebrate his birthday and was amazing ❤️ just to say something... I found the starters a bit small. But full of flavour and beautiful restaurant 😋 The tiramisú, wow 👌🏻

Dinner at Dalla was more than just a vibe…. it was a culinary dream. First off, I have to say that the staff was super accommodating, allowing us to adjust our reservations slightly due to a delayed flight. The restaurant is cozy, but well designed with lots of lovely details that make you feel somewhere chic but laidback all the same. The kitchen has an open concept and we really enjoyed seeing our meal come together. Everything was so fresh! This spot is especially ideal for sharing small plates and I highly suggest working your way through the menu and asking for wine pairings as you go. Our two highlights were the pork chops as well as the bruschetta, but would have eaten everything we ordered again. oh yes, pickled veggies are a must too. Will be returning on our next stay in London. The only drawback was that the space was quite noisy and was a bit difficult to have an conversation without adjusting to the volume of the other patrons, but I think that has more to do with the other guests than the restaurant itself, or could have just been the night we were there. Would still return.

It takes a lot for me to share a public review of a restaurant, but after 3 visits to Dalla - all exceptional - I think one is warranted. As an Aussie-come-Londoner who believes the two most beautiful words in the English language are "long lunch", Dalla had been on my list for a while. It's now my favourite restaurant in London. The reasons why are as follows: 1. Food - exceptional, and without a doubt the best Italian I've had in London. The menu is simple, but perfectly curated. Small seasonal changes also bring excitement to a return visit. The pastas really are the stars of the show - on my recent visit, my friend and I were aligned on the gnocchi being the "best we've ever had" (no hyperbole). 2. Service - friendly and attentive without being overbearing. There's an observable synergy between staff - almost like they're all part of a family (sans the chaos) who are so aligned on delivering a special dining experience from start to finish. 3. Aesthetic - I'm yet to dine at a restaurant that strikes a more perfect aesthetic than Dalla. It's hard to articulate, but from the moment you walk in, it's clear that Dalla is a pretense free zone, where the food speaks for itself. The white tablecloths aren't there to convince you of anything (Mayfair, I'm looking at you) but more as a sincere gesture of hospitality from a kitchen proud to cook for you. Dalla is a very special restaurant, and epitomises everything I love about London. Keep up the great work, and see you again soon. Conor

Really special restaurant. The menu is interesting and impeccably executed, the staff are all extremely knowledgable and charming, and the atmosphere they consistently create is really impressive. Go for the pasta, stay for literally everything else.

I was extremely excited to try DALLA - mainly because it was born as a collaboration with Mitchell Damota, possibly my favourite pasta maker I've had the pleasure to eat from in London (a high praise for an Italian, I know). The vibe is nice and I think takes inspiration from small / family run Italian restaurants and although it presents as such visually, I think it does lack a bit of warmth. Now onto the food: maybe wrongly, when I saw Damota was head cheffing I expected a pasta-focused menu, carrying through his impressive knowledge of rather obscure and authentic dishes he picked up on. Sadly, only two pastas on the menu (with the usual truffle trope that London seems to not get tired of) and a lasagna special. I found it a pretty unassuming menu, which is not a bad thing at all if the food is done excellently, however the food was good but left me a little bit underwhelmed. The winners were definitely the pasta dishes (no doubt about that) and the cacio and egg balls for starters. I am happy I tried it out and it wasn't a bad meal by any means, but unfortunately their vision didn't translate well to me.

A nice cozy Italian place. We had five antipasti, two pasta dishes and a tiramisu. While the tartare and omelette were very tasty, the other dishes were good but not exceptional. The service was friendly, but the prices seemed quite high. I'd rate this place a 4.2 out of 5!

Lovely new restaurant, the interior feels just right, the staff is lovely and the food tastes like a sunday ad nonna’s. Some stuff could be better tho. I would have liked a bit more attention in the table ware. Cutleries and plates should be changed for each main considering the price range the restaurant it’s positioning itself in.

Cosy little restaurant serving Italian classics. We ordered 5 antipasti between two of us and they were all really excellent (pigs head terrine, fish tartare, ndjuda fritter, parmigiana di melanzane, asparagus). Unfortunately the mains were not at all up to the same standard. I have a high tolerance for salt, but the salted fish was was pushing the limits of what I could accept - the table next to us actually sent it back. The sausage ragu that came with our tagliatelle main was just very dry (and also a tad over-salted). Only a handful of wines were available by the glass but there were some excellent choices amongst them.

Gourmet portions, We tried pasta of the day but egg pasta with sausage ragu (Primi) is way better and everyone is ordering it: the menu changes frequently btw. Pickles were very good, nice service(comfortably well staffed). They don't accept Amex 🙄

Charming little Italian with a lovely, intimate setting and warm ambiance. Service was attentive but lacked a bit of polish. Waiters seemed distracted (at times a touch unintentionally rude) and weren’t able to explain the dishes well. The dishes were tasty but not particularly memorable, particularly given the smaller portions at the high price point. It’s got a lot going for it, but overall didn’t quite hit the spot for me. Very mixed feelings about it. Worth a visit for the experience but in no hurry to return.

Dalla is a charming, intimate spot with a cosy atmosphere and a tightly curated menu that leans into simplicity and quality. While the service can feel a little chaotic at times — likely due to inexperience — the staff are warm and well-intentioned. The gnudi toscani was a true highlight: light, delicate, and full of flavour. The tagliata di manzo delivered on taste, though the meat was noticeably tough, which let the dish down a touch. Dalla shows real promise, but it’s not quite up there yet with more polished Italian favourites like Trullo or Bocca di Lupo. That said, it’s an enjoyable experience and worth a visit — especially for the gnudi.

We were not greeted and brought to our seat. I had to walk inside to call their service who were just chatting to each other. Had us walked back and forth to finally get us our seat. The pasta on the other hand tasted nice but were poorly portioned. We ordered a Pappardelle ragu which came with 10grams of beef and 5 strands of pasta. I saw other tables who ordered the same thing with much more.

I really wanted this to be different from the other trendy traps in Hackney but unfortunately it wasn’t. Place is cute and cozy, food was okay (although not mind blowing, with tiny portions — small plates concept innit?) The baccalà mantecato was actually really good, as well as the tagliatelle. Really enjoyed these. A couple of negatives really stood out for me, and I hope you can take this as feedback to make things better next time: 1. Don’t bring a £50+ bottle of wine already open at the table. Do open the bottle in front of customers. If your waiter cannot open a wine bottle standing, hire one who can. £50 for a bottle of wine isn’t cheap, and I’d expect to see the bottle is sealed and opened in front of me. This is really the basics of decent service and I was mind blown both bottles we ordered came already opened at the table. I’m sure this isn’t the case, but what if the bottle was refilled with cheaper wine? Not cool. 2. As a waiter, make sure you take the full order before jumping doing other tasks. Don’t grab plates for other tables, welcome in new guests halfway through the order to then come back to the original customer. It’s not very nice. Also — It’s okay not to force an Italian pronunciation every other word you say. Italians at the table don’t need to be impressed!

C
Christine Kim

Mixed feelings about this place. Only two dishes stood out as great and the tables were so close together that it felt like we were dining with the neighbouring table, which made for an uncomfortable experience. We came here for Sunday lunch and between the two of us, we shared the salentine fritters (very little filling and lacked flavour), grilled cuttlefish with chickpeas (nothing special), risotto with wild garlic (great flavour and enjoyed this one), roast chicken (my friend had the breast bit which was dry, my bit was fine but nothing out of the ordinary), the tenderstem broccoli (good accompaniment to the chicken) and the tiramisu (delicious, with a perfect balance between layers). The service was attentive and polite.

K
Kathryn Alexander

Other than an excellent frittata, the food was fine but nothing to write home about and very expensive for small portions as others have mentioned. But the wine list is what really rankled. Very few bottles under £100. For a lively Italian on the corner in Hackney, that is ridiculous.

N
Nat Terdkiatkhachorn

The service is OK but the food is lacklustre. Was recommended the zucchini omelette with balsamic vinegar but if you're familiar with Southeast Asian omelette this dish basically just tastes like that... nothing special so just skip it (mine came with eggshells). Seasoning of the mains (fish and pork collar) was very unbalanced. Both were too salty. Desserts were the highlight. Unfortunately for the price and the expectations, I would not recommend this place.

R
R L

Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with the food quality .. the photos online looked a lot more interesting so maybe we’re unlucky. The antipastis were ok - but nothing impressive, the flavors were quite bland. The pasta dishes were below average - there’s lot more places with way better fresh pasta with nicer texture and sauces in London. The pumpkin tortelloni was really disappointing as the filling was too dense and overpowering, just tasted like a big spoonful of roasted pumpkin inside - it was too sweet and needed something else to balance it out. The most disappointing dish was the whipped ricotta dessert, it’s literally a whole plate of ricotta and cream spread and drizzled with something similar to molasses…. The ricotta was too rich and it needed something else to pair with as a texture … we all felt sickly after that. The service was very good though - staffs were very friendly and helpful. But sadly for the food quality and price we would not recommend.

Was so excited to come here. Booked in with my partner (and had a booking the next week with friends) but we cancelled the booking for the week after. The mushroom pasta was great. The steak was overcooked and tough. Very squished in, and the service was extremely slow, had to ask many times to pay, asked for butter and no one ever came back to me, long wait for mains and then they were overdone. Shame as was really looking forward to it. Expect more for this price point. Nicely plated but nothing remarkable. Had been at hill and Szrok near by two days earlier and had a much better steak. £130 with no alcohol. We left hungry, but went down the road for food and dessert as we didn’t enjoy the food here very much.

M
Matty

A disappointing visit, what went wrong. Maybe it was a bad menu day, whatever it was it’s a shame but three dishes all poor shouldn’t be happening. The starter ratio is too much polenta to the whipped cod topping which was bland, but to be fair this was the best dish of the night. The pasta dishes were the real let down and seemed like dulled down bland dishes for the children’s menu. The wine was also poor, alcoholic fruit juice ABV 10% at £39 a bottle the house white option is pushing it.

T
Tom White

Extremely overpriced and largely uninteresting food. We spent £120 with no alcohol and left hungry. The tiramisu banged though. Service was awkward and at times bordered on rude. Atmosphere was bang average. I think this restaurant is just another social media hype that falls short.

A
Anna Maria von Hapsburg

The food was underwhelming and tiny portions for the price. The service was very disappointing. We were rushed through our starters (we had four plates) so the staff could clear us out for the next reservation. By the time the mains arrived, the waiter was already hinting that we had overstayed. We weren’t even given the chance to order dessert at the table. Instead, we were told we could have one standing outside in the cold if we wanted. To make matters worse, we were only offered a single drink at the start of the meal and never again, presumably because they wanted the table cleared as quickly as possible. I’m increasingly frustrated by London restaurants that prioritise turnover over hospitality. Dining here felt more like being on a conveyor belt than enjoying a meal. It completely ruined the dining experience, which felt stressful and far from relaxing. I would not recommend Dalla unless you’re in a hurry to catch a flight and don’t actually want to enjoy your dinner.
