Great food, great service. We were a table of 27 people on friday night. It was extremely busy and we received a fantastic service. Thanks to them all.

Do you want the Britishs' Sunday roast at a local pub? We enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service.

We went for a Sunday roast and food was good, nice decor in a mountain atmosphere. They also have a fireplace. Service did not take too long. Our waitress was very helpful as well.

Lovely local gastropub, incredible food as pictured below for vegetarians/vegans/meat eaters. Great setting too with cute outdoor tables enveloped in the surrounding shrubbery. Have been on multiple occasions now and never let down!

Best fish and chips I think I’ve ever had!

One of the best Sunday roast pub dinners! I had the mushroom wellington pie, which was divine. My friends enjoyed the pork belly. We were all happy with generous serving sizes. Finished off with Crumble and sticky date puddings! Would recommend.

One of the best, if not the best actually, pub dinners I’ve had in London! The food was outstanding, super fresh with quality ingredients and a ‘classier’ spin on traditional pub food. The restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming and the staff really attentive. Couldn’t recommend more!

Came here for a Sunday roast. I had the vegetarian mushroom wellington and my partner had the lamb. We both enjoyed our meals and the overall vibe. The weather was really nice so we were able to comfortably eat in the garden. The sticky toffee pudding was also amazing. It's nice to find a good veg Sunday roast that isn't boring. I believe there was a vegan roast as well. Friendly staff as well and solid beer selection - even had multiple non-alcoholic beer options.

Awesome little neighbourhood boozer 🍻 in the heart of De Beauvoir. Crisp selection is on point, darts 🎯, board games, show the football at the weekends and have Stone & Wood 🍺 on tap. Plus there’s a nice little outdoor space. Good crowd of regulars too.

This place freaking ROCKS. And this is reference to the FOOD, not just the drinks Met a friend here for dinner and was blown away by the variety on the menu.. and the quality of the food! Vegan options, carnivore options.. everything in between.. and fusion style entrees too.. from Western, to English, to Thai style plates.. so so sooo cool! The vibe of this spot is freaking cool too!! HIGHLY recommend stopping by! And make sure to get their desserts!!!

Stunning pub with the best selection of what's on tap I've seen in ages. Outdoor garden space made me feel like I was in the countryside.

Had our annual staff get together today and was really pleased with the food and service.. Savannah and the other serving staff were awesome and friendly too Will happily revisit with family… and enjoy the outside space in the spring

We had such a good time at The Scolt Head—it felt like the kind of evening you wish you could bottle and replay. The pub has that rare mix of charm and ease: leafy outdoor seating that feels almost rural, a cozy interior with just enough buzz, and a crowd that’s friendly without being loud. We grabbed a table outside, surrounded by trees and late-summer light, and settled in with a round of craft beers and small plates. The food was classic and comforting—think rich pâté, flaky pies, and a surprisingly good Eton mess to finish. Nothing too fancy, just well done. The staff were relaxed and welcoming, letting us linger without rushing. It’s the kind of place where conversations stretch, laughter flows, and you forget about your phone for a while.

Good beer, decent wine, with a small, beautiful garden/courtyard in a quiet central location. Nice dining area with good food, and a separate room with a big screen for TV sports events. Pretty much a perfect pub.

Exceptional Sunday Roast, duck was delicious (although ever so slightly overdone) and the pork and apple sauce was also very good. Priced quite well too. Staff are friendly and service is speedy. Gorgeous pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Outside section would be beautiful in the summer

The Scolt Head — Where Good Food Meets Good Vibes This friendly neighbourhood pub is known for its seasonal British menu, excellent drinks, and laid-back atmosphere. Whether you’re there for a Sunday roast, a pint with friends, or a casual dinner, The Scolt Head delivers with charm and consistency. Food that hits the spot: Seasonal mains — think slow-roasted lamb, pan-fried fish, or hearty vegetarian pies Starters and snacks — Scotch eggs, charcuterie boards, and crispy squid Sunday roasts — generous portions with all the trimmings Desserts — sticky toffee pudding, fruit crumble, and chocolate mousse Drinks and atmosphere: Rotating ales and craft beers — local brews and guest taps Cocktails and wines — well-chosen and reasonably priced Garden seating — perfect for sunny afternoons Live music and quiz nights — add to the fun, especially with a group

As many others have said, we had a fantastic Sunday roast here. I brought my parents and in-laws so was hoping for somewhere quiet with good service and this was perfect. Our waitress was excellent, I forgot to ask her name but she was Canadian and so helpful. The food is brilliant, including the vegan option. Overall, my best roast experience in the area, after trying quite a few.

The Scolt Head — A Pub with Heart and Heritage Tucked away in leafy De Beauvoir, The Scolt Head is a beloved local institution that blends community spirit, excellent food, and a proper pub atmosphere. Taken over by siblings Richard Haines and Rosie Wesemann in 2006, it was revitalised with care — preserving its identity as a pub first, not a soulless gastropub. Why it’s world-class: Authentic pub feel — no frills, no pretence, just warmth and welcome Excellent food — Mediterranean-inspired dishes, hearty roasts, and seasonal specials Great drinks — rotating ales, craft beers, and a well-curated wine list Live music, pub quizzes, and swing dancing — a true community hub Friendly staff and loyal crowd — locals love it, and visitors feel instantly at home

The Scolt Head — Hackney’s Hidden Pub Gem The Scolt Head is the kind of pub that doesn’t need to shout — it simply is great. Tucked away in De Beauvoir, it’s got that rare mix of laid-back cool, genuine warmth, and a crowd that feels like neighbours, not strangers. Whether you’re here for a pint, a roast, or a quiet chat, it delivers every time. The drinks are well-chosen: Rotating craft beers and ales — local, fresh, and full of character Natural wines and classic cocktails — unfussy but thoughtful Seasonal specials — always something new to try The food is gastropub quality with soul: Sunday roasts — generous, flavourful, and beautifully plated Fish pie, burgers, and veggie options — hearty and satisfying Desserts — homemade and comforting (don’t skip the sticky toffee pudding) The vibe is relaxed and quietly stylish — wood-panelled walls, mismatched chairs, and a garden that glows in summer. Staff are friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming — the kind who remember your order and greet you like a regular.

Delicious food, highly recommend the beef Sunday roast. The service was fantastic, one girl in particular was basically running the whole show by herself and did it with a wonderful attitude even when it was a bit stressful

Everything was amazing and the service was excellent. One of our best meals in London!

Such a nice pub! We came for Sunday roast without a booking, but the team was able to accommodate us without fuss and were super friendly. The rabbit was delicious, and don’t skip dessert!

Had a great dining experience at The Scolt Head - all the Coronavirus measures were in place and made me feel very safe, the service was great and very attentive, we had their steaks and I have never had a better steak in my life, I will never be able to have another steak! Once you have tasted caviar..you cannot settle for catfish ever again...

Lovely pub, nice decoration and dogs paintings. The garden is really nice with outdoor seating. They have live music on Tuesdays with dances. Nice selection of beers and great ambience in general

Just had the vegetarian curry, absolutely beautiful! Perfect blend of spices, nice and warm with popadums and chutney. Lovely!😍

S

Went in because it was close to our Airbnb, expecting some standard pub fare, and was suuuuper impressed, instead. Both the French fries and the chips were crispy, hot, and perfect. The burger was a delightful mess. The fried fish was fresh and flaky. Well done. Lunch took a while to come out, but it was worth the wait. And a real classic pub vibe.

What a great night. We got happy on the easy vibe and some smooth red wine. Spotted Norman Cook in the garden too. Nice guy

This is a gorgeous pub and the outdoor bit is lovely (although a lack of heaters). They also have their own lager which is only a fiver for a pint!!

My favourite local. The only place you can get a pint for under £6, and a solid meal for under £20.

The Scolt Head – A Proper Local with Heart, Heritage, and Pies Tucked away in De Beauvoir Town, The Scolt Head is the kind of pub everyone wishes they had on their corner. With leafy outdoor seating, hearty food, and a lively, welcoming crowd, it’s a true North London gem — equal parts community hub and culinary hideaway. Food & Drink: The menu changes regularly, focusing on seasonal produce and independent suppliers Expect British classics: pâté, pies, Eton mess, and roasts done right Meat from rare-breed farms, fish delivered daily, and house-made chutneys and ice creams Drinks include rotating ales, solid wines, and a well-stocked bar — nothing flashy, just well chosen

L
Lisa

The burger is excellent. The steak was expensive and overcooked for a medium so tough, and rather small - so very disappointing. The red wines by the glass - whilst there is a selection, weren’t great. Nice vibe and friendly place.

S
Steve Simms

A really good place ..great vibe , food and local beers Took one star off due to the fact that one had to go into the beer garden ( which really is very beautiful...secluded from the ravages of Islington/Hackney) to get away from the level of music played inside the pub. Can't ever get my head around why playing the volume at '11' is the establishment's way of thinking that this is the 'perfect environment'- Fortunately the weather was not too cold ...but really guys ..? If you play the music at 6 or 7 ...people will still come....you might even get more people frequenting the pub.... Try it-no?

I had the pork Sunday roast and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All in all, the roast was okay. Unfortunately, it's a little bland for my taste. A little salt and pepper helped a long way. What I couldn’t change was the temperature. Upon arrival, my plate was quite cold. I saw the steam coming from my food, so surely the food wouldn’t be cold. The meat and some veggies were warm, but the whole dish quickly became cold. The potatoes were cold and dry, too. I wholeheartedly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. It was very delicious and not too sweet. The plate and the dessert were pleasantly warm. The service was fantastic, all around a pleasant crew.

Lovely old traditional pub hidden in the back streets of Dalston Junction. Great little garden and plenty of seating..

Lovely interior design for the restaurant seating area. The fish and chips was good, but salad lacks any flavour.. Staff was nice but not very attentive. There’s outdoor seating, amazing for the summer period.

J

Lovely roast in the beer garden. Shame they got our order wrong which meant our roasts didn’t come out at the same time. Everything was tasty… if I lived locally I’d probably go here again for a hearty roast.

It was a chilly morning up until lunch time. Once we entered The Scolt Head, we were immediately enveloped by the warm greetings of the hostess and the rest of the folks behind the bar. Good beginnings! I have been enjoying the British ciders from various regions and the draught Aspall cider was crisp and just the perfect dry/sweet flavor. That went well with the scotched egg with its flavorful crust, runny yolk and black pudding. The side salad and piccalilli (picked vegetables in mustard) were great accompaniments as well. Their fish and chips was crisp all around and the fillet was firm. The onglet or hanger steak was cooked beautifully and benefitted from the horseradish creme fraiche. The cherry glazed duck was tender, the duck skin crackling added a necessary crispy component to the disk and the vegetables were all consumed with great abandon. I find it weird that I rarely see rum & raisin ice cream in desserts so when I saw their menu, I had to have the mulled wine poached pear with the ice cream. The pear was festive and tasted of celebrations while the rum & raisin added the party. The warm toffee pudding will not go wrong with the vanilla ice cream. I should come back here even for a pint.

Really good sunday roast and food. Small quantity of meat though. Would still recommend nice vibes and outdoor when sunny!

Nice place to sit for a summer time drink when its 30 degrees out. The overhead awning really helps. Menu on bank holiday appeared to be the Sunday roast menu.

K
Kaelan Cheesewright

Pretty good pub, food was affordable and staff were nice enough.

E

the worlds loudest pub , 1 toilet per 100 guests. fortunately the atmosphere and selection available at the bar makes up for this

C
Claire L

Went on a warm Saturday afternoon - easy going, relaxed pub with an outdoor space which feels quite intimate despite being on the corner of the street. Food and drinks selection was good too.

M
Mark

This place caught my eye whilst driving past as the outdoor area looked lovely and full of revellers. I visited for a Sunday lunch, whilst the ambience was amazing and I had the loveliest time with my friends, the beef roast was very average. The meat was very chewy and lacked flavour entirely. The treamings were not cooked very consistently. I would most certaintly revisit for drinks but I would not order food. The ambience retained stars.

J
James B

It was okay. The food was fairly good but found the staff somewhat surly. Looking through other reviews people say the service was friendly so maybe we caught them on a bad day? I found the pubs in the surrounding area more pleasant (the Talbot, the Duke of Wellington and De Beauvoir Arms). The beer garden is great on a sunny day with a group.

M
Michelle Dornelly

A Nice quiet pub, food a little expensive, chips a little crispy (overcooked) but the fish was nice. Make sure you don’t leave going to the toilet for the last minute as you have to physically squeeze past a piano to get through the door. Welcoming

G
Glemerson Carrilho

Pretentious pub with really bad service even thou you pay a substantial service charge. I have to clean the table myself. Food was ok, nothing special. Some of the staff were incredibly unhappy and moody. Horse radish taste like yogurt. The whole experience was very disappointing it use to be my local 10 years ago and I’m shocked by the changes. Decadent.
