Recensioni di Sweetleaf Long Island City
Great spot to stop on your daily commute. Friendly staff and plenty of nice sweets to get your day started. The regulars are always here clacking away on their keyboards. Nice room in the back to work in.
They take coffee seriously here at Sweetleaf. Withdrawn from the bustle of Long Island City, it's easy to tuck into an armchair here and get lost in your own thoughts. A true sanctuary. Their baked goods are awesome as well!
This is the first Sweetleaf location. It's started out tiny, but they've done so well that they've opened more locations. The best coffee in the city, in my opinion. Iced latté is very good, too.
Okay, I'll admit it: I only went here because Toby's and Blue Bottle had lines out the door. Which is the main reason I give this place five stars: it's the only coffee joint in Williamsburg where you can find a seat. (Oh, and the coffee is great, the snacks are tasty, and the line for the bathroom is only one or two people long. Even during Smorgasburg!)
A great place for a relaxed place for a great coffee and a snack - their ham-n-cheese croissant is legendary, but they sell quickly. Their vegan brownie bites are to die for - and there's lots of other selections to snack on.
Wonderful coffee and sandwiches. Only wish it were closer. Has the local coffeeshop vibe you want in your neighborhood, only it's not in mine. Unique sandwiches are the highlight for me.
It's a really good cup of coffee. I grab an espresso whenever I'm in the area working. Note: There is 5 dollar minimum for cards. (Baristas could give a bit of a smile to try and earn an expected tip)
The cutest little coffee shop. I grew up in and around Seattle and there were tons of homey little spots like this around my hood. I had time to kill between work gigs and this was a perfect find.
Amazing service, even better coffee. No hot food at this location, but the baked goods are primo. Love this place. Just over the bridge is the bigger location with hot food served.
Great for that great tasting coffee with a lot of body. Rocket Fuel is the way to go. BTW if you somehow don't finish it. Just chuck it in the fridge and it's still good the next day. ... Is that gross?
Wish you lived the 80's punk scene in the industrial heart of 20's with 21st century latte art? Hint: it's the closest coffee joint to Hunterspoint Ave. Transit, for those days when the 7/LIRR leaves you stranded. And it's one of the best in the city.
They have the best coffee i have ever tasted. Customer services are great, the reception is amazing too and the place is luxurious to be in. Am happy i came here. Highly recommend them.
The iced matcha is really good- no grains, not too bitter, not drowned with milk- just right
Excellent coffee/tea/pastry options. 3 different seating areas, to separate the laptop warriors from those looking for a quiet nook to read (in the record room) or just a comfortable place to rest their feet and finish their beverage (on the overstuffed sofa or wingback chairs). Only thing I would change is placing charging stations for the laptop area.
I love this place. It is so relaxing I also love the record player. My favorite coffee is the Voodoo child coffee. It is sweet but so delicious
Beautiful space with separate areas for people using laptops and a small "record room" with a mini library of records and a record player. Free open wifi. Most importantly, great coffee! Get their Voodoo Child, which is Vietnamese coffee-style cold brew.
This is the best coffee place in queens bar none. The feel of this place is great and they also have free wifi. The bake goods here are decent but I would definitely stick to the coffee here. They use Ritual Beans and have stumptown available for purchase. They rotate the beans the blend for other drinks. Also they don't take credit card. It's a cash only kind of spot.
My boyfriend and I like to bike to Sweetleaf on the weekends for a cup of coffee and espresso. I absolutely love "Rocket Fuel" which is iced with chicory and chocolate. The back seating area is really intimate and charming. They also have an herb cabinet with ideas on how to make your own at home. They also have some gluten-free snacks. It's a great place!
Great friendly customer service, they can get pretty busy there's usually a line but service is still quick considering. I love the gluten free/vegan baked goods. They do sell out of the gf/vegan options early which shows you how good they are. I have allergies to gluten and eggs, it's hard to find great tasting gf/vegan baked treats. I highly recommend this place.
Great coffee, delicious baked goods, and chill vibes. There's a table for laptops and a quiet back room with chairs and tables. The Rocket Fuel cold brew is especially good on a hot day.
I've visited Sweetleaf about, let me see, 1, 2, 3 ... 136 times and I'm not stopping now. The drinks are amazing (not too sweet) and they do take their time when making your cup of fresh coffee. The cafe itself is awesome and the staff are even awesomer. Even my brother who is a Starbucks addict (I'm still trying to fix him) gives this place two thumbs up.
This is such a nice spot. I love grading papers here. The staff is cordial and subdued in terms of vibes, but graceful and speedy as well. Nonetheless, Twista's "Kill Us All" is superior to Metallica's "Kill 'Em All," despite the decor. I give them all of the stars in the name of cross-genre community-building.
Holy smokes... Thus far the best shot of espresso I've had in my visit to NYC. Smooth, chocolaty and best of all consistent. I keep coming back. But for the love of all things holy, get a carpenter on that work table with the swivel seats. She's not gonna last much longer!
Love this place. Excellent, carefully crafted espresso. Knowledgeable baristas, approachable owner, quirky decor. All baked goods are baked on premises in LIC. A laptop friendly communal table. What else one would look for in a coffee shop. My coffe shop.
Came in for a strong yet delicately balanced iced matcha soy latte and left very pleased!
I LOVE their Vietnamese cold brew and Rocket Fuel, so tasty and potent. Good spot to stop in when commuting but also has funky interiors and a fair amount of places to sit.
Good afternoon just wanted to take the time out and write a quick review about this place. I miss the taste of real authentic coffee. The coffee is 100% good quality. It's smooth doesn't require milk or sugar but if added it just makes it even more exceptional. One of my favorite scones is the vegan blueberry coconut scone it's soft and fluffy the right amount of vegan butter. And the raspberry oat bar is layers of crunch and rapeberry preserve the right amount of butter and sugar it's just something you need to either start your day or have it as a afternoon snack.
Love the coffee, love the people, love the location! I’ve been working nearby for about 5 months and stop in multiple times a week. The baristas are all amazingly sweet, and I would go so far to say they are basically my neighborhood friends at this point. 🖤 love you guys! So sorry for all the hate you guys get. You are so under appreciated !! 🖤
really quality coffee and solid space for a nice break/hang. i like the breakout of the space with the laptop section and record room in the back (tho that area is quite tight). the staff when i was there is amicable as well. the view of the busy street ahead is not ideal but i really can’t complain about that eh. when i was there, also saw a cat hanging around which was kind of awesome and made me feel at home.
Very good coffee, delicious baked goods. The place smells amazing. Definitely has a slightly pretentious vibe. When it's not crowded it's very cozy to hang out in, but it's often very crowded with your usual squatters with a laptop and an empty cup. The back room is a no computer room but I just saw two of the three tables taken up by people with laptops. Overall it is still the best coffee in the area.
Iced matcha rose latte was incredible! Strong matcha flavor, didn’t just taste like milk.
Love there coffees and espressos and there many vegan pastries. It has a nice homely strange design and you can sit in the Laptop room relax with your treats and pretend to write your next book. The Baristas know what they are talking about and are very nice and personable. You should go get some Voodoo coffee and enjoy your day.
The first one! Even though my favorite Sweetleaf is the one in Greenpoint. This was the first one, I remember when it was a 1/4 of the space of what it is now. It's really a pleasure to see this business grow and grow with it, now it's hard to enjoy coffee anywhere else! Lol. Sweetleaf now has the best and most friendly baristas, and they're all so knowledgeable and armed with skills to make you the beat cup of coffee possible, some of them I call them friends since Sweetleaf feels like my second home and where I've made lifetime friends as well. Sweetleaf is more than just coffee... it IS coffee and they do it more than well!. But it's a lot about the people and the community for me. I can't tell you enough about how unique is this place and if you're a tourist/visitor or new to town and don't know where to go to sit down and take a good cup of coffee, just stop and pick the closets Sweetleaf you can get to now and go. Pastries are made in house every day by and of course they're also delicious. I have always been obsessed with the decor and style of the shops and I love the back room on this location, I'm not saying much since it's something you shouldn't miss if you're there, just walk all the way to the back. I love you Sweetleaf and all the people that are involved in running this wonderful business.
Although I really like exploring different spots around the city, I find myself coming back to Sweetleaf over and over again. Sweetleaf has three sections that all add something unique to the atmosphere of the place. The vinyl listening room in the back feels like a cozy getaway in the big city. The couch in the front feels like I'm drinking coffee in a cozy living room. The laptop room ensures that folks who want to work on their laptops will do so in one section, and the rest of the patrons will be journaling, reading, catching up with friends, going on dates... the list goes on. While these are normal activities for most coffee shops, Sweetleaf stands out due to its friendly staff and homey atmosphere. Plus, I love the mocha lattes and their fall/winter seasonal menu! I think this neighborhood is full of people who are living fast-paced individual lives. A spot like Sweetleaf is important because it's a gathering place for people from all walks of life in the neighborhood who want a cozy place to rest and a comforting drink.
magnificent coffee, wonderful pastries, endearing staff! been coming here for a few months and im in love with this shop. i love the other sweetleaf locations but this one right by my job always helps take the edge off my work day. god bless you guys!
I moved here last year with my husband. And I finally got around to trying Sweetleaf and it was amazing. The coffee was delicious, strong, and out of this world! But the two people who helped us made going even more special! We were helped by Mike and Blair made our drinks. My husband and I were feeling a bit "bleh" so this outing meant a lot and we really appreciated their kindness.
You can get delicious coffee almost anywhere in NYC, but Sweetleaf coffee is both delicious and unique. I love the Rocket Fuel, which is a cold brew, maple, milk concoction - never had anything like it elsewhere. The atmosphere is so relaxing with tables, a cozy couch and the record room in the back. The delicious selection of pastries are made in house (you can see the kitchen through a big window behind the laptop room). They do everything right at Sweetleaf!
the baristas are warm, welcoming and make great drinks here! I don't drink coffee but they have a great matcha (and I am very picky about my matcha). turmeric latte is good too but a bit too sweet for me. I have yet to try their hot chocolate. the chocolate chip cookie is really good too but very big, sweet and rich. I am saving half for my husband. there are no savory options (except plain croissant). it's a great place to chill, chat or get work done. there are limited seats where you can plug in, so do come fully charged. there is a small laptop area in the front and also a small room in the back with 3 tables. there is also a bathroom which makes it feel more homey. I will definitely be back to get work done! this just became one of my favorite cafes to do work at. they keep it nice and warm too, and I normally get cold easily. definitely the coziest cafe in the area. depending on the time and people there, there may be some loud customers so I'd recommend bringing headphones if you want to focus.
I came here to get some coffee and work done, and it's a pretty solid spot! The inside of the cafe is fairly small but there's quite a few tables, and an area ("The laptop area") for you to get your work done. Service here is quick and the barista was nice. I just got a drip coffee and it was pretty solid. The cafe offers free wifi and there's also a bathroom, so it's a good place to study or do work. Would come back.
Smallish cafe with a few tables and a great atmosphere. There is a cozy back room with vinyls. The drip was a Guatemalan blend and had a noticeable chocolate flavor with a sweet and smooth (almost honey like) finish. It was slightly herby/leafy as well. No qualms with this place: straightforward service and solid coffee. I just wonder why they have four locations in close proximity to one another!
Great warm hospitality, good coffee and a great aesthetic, Ill be returning here for sure
I have been going out of my way for the last 2 years (5 miles by bike) to get coffee from SweetLeaf LIC. The baristas are extremely knowledgable, and the staff in general is very nice and pleasant. Their pour overs are always a great cup of coffee, and their snacks are homemade (if you get there early enough you can even score a gluten free treat - muffins, cookies, ...)
Good atmosphere. Servers are friendly enough to get the job done. Great normal coffee and well balanced coffee based drinks. Cute old furniture.
Coffee and food are great! My only complain is the way they serve coffee during rush hour in the morning, the cashier is the same person who serves the coffee and it takes ages to serve 3-4 people, I had to skip my morning coffee so many times because of the waiting time.
Quaint location right next to the subway. Friendly staff, great service, great coffee! Would do 5 stars but the bathroom toilet is terrible, the seat doesn't stay up and really needs replacing.
I stopped in several times when I went to the court house in Long Island City. Good place for breakfast or a quick meal. The coffee was very good. Service was excellent. Extremely reasonably priced.
Lovely place with a (very) shabby chic decor and a record player room. Espresso based drinks are a tad over-roasted and bitter, but still very good and strong.
Solid coffee to go. Specialty drinks are fun and sugary. Wouldn’t hang out in there. Smells kinda funky.
Coffee is good, service is friendly for the most part. Dislike the 5$ card minimum, especially as I usually purchase a drip coffee. Orange poppy seed cake is incredible though- a must try!
I love how Sweetleaf has that neighborhood coffee shop feel. It serves some good coffee beverage as well as coffee cocktail! There are a bunch of sofa for you to chill out. I saw a lot of young moms hang out here with their babies. This is definitely a great hangout spot for young parents and working professionals.
Cozy coffee nook. A little overpriced generally but clean and comfy. This location has a huge bench outside and is centrally located near to the B62 and B32 bus stops and 7 and G trains. I live nearby and every now and then I pop in. Coffee is very good! I prefer Dunkin, more bang for my buck. Lol.
Great place, usually can't complain too much about prices but I just paid $5.50 for a 12oz hot chocolate which came out to $6.50 with a 25 cent tip and tax, just seems insanely high for a small, simple drink.
The coffee is an acquired taste. Some people find it too sweet or aromatic. I think it's fantastic. The lattes are particularly well done. The cheddar and jalapeño biscuit is also excellent
An institution! Many talented baristas pass through here and the coffee is top quality. I don't love the space (I much prefer the beautiful and airy Sweetleaf that opened in Greenpoint) and it has more of a college-age vibe than their other places. But it certainly has its charms. PS--their beans are well priced for the quality if you want to buy coffee for home.
Very good espresso and soy latte. I frequent here during work. Staff are kind, comfortable seating inside and out, and clean overall. Wish they had a loyalty program.
I only had coffee during my visit, but the place is really nice — perfect for studying or getting some work done. I especially loved the seating by the windows. They mainly offer pastries, muffins, croissants, and similar light options, which adds to the cozy atmosphere.
This coffee shop is gorgeous. It is far enough away to not be crowded from the park LIC crowd, but close enough to have someone here. I had the pictured hot Vietnamese style coffee, which was new to me. It's very nice, but the atmosphere is the star. Always take a look at the Record Room when you come in.
The atmosphere is nice. The music isn’t too loud, there are multiple places to sit, and the location is convenient (next to a bus stop and on a busy corner). I especially like the varying kinds of seating arrangements. There is a couch, bar seating that looks out a window, and normal tables to sit at. It’s inviting. For the coffee, I personally think their espresso is gross. I always get a normal cappuccino with 2% milk. The shot was pulled too long I think. The initial flavor is incredibly sour and slightly burnt. I was disappointed, to say the least. The staff on shift was quite nice. Very soft smile and inviting vibe. We didn’t converse or anything, so I can’t make any more comments on that. I came pretty late (5pm), so things might be different during rush hour. Apologies for the photo! I forgot to take a picture before I sipped.
Great little spot to hang out and get some work done. Coffee and pastries are good and priced pretty typically for the area. The strong point is the atmosphere, with a cute seating area in the front and the record room in the back. Also, whoever they had on aux while I was visiting has great taste in music!
Very insta-genic cafe. Coffee tastes good. Staff OK. If you just want to grab coffee, it should be fine but if you want to work/study, I'm not sure if it is right place because it's kinda noisy and there are few small tables..
1. It's cash only 2. It's pretty small, so there aren't too many places to set up your laptop 3. It's expensive 4. The week I went, their wifi was giving them so much trouble, and it would stop working NUMEROUS TIMES, which was frustrating. Their workers are awesome, and fantastic and really helpful.
I am a coffee drinker.. I found this place around July 4th of last year... I was wondering how I missed this place for so long.. the decor is quaint.. I love the foosball table they have there. However I digress.. this is about the coffee. I have to say that on a hot day... Voo Doo Child is the drink to get if you like great coffee with some condensed milk. It only comes cold so if you are not into cold drinks.. I would get the rocket fuel which I think comes either hot or cold. Also their food is good too.. if you come early enough they would have a package of the leftover food from last night. The thing is that you get about 4 or 5 muffins or cookies.. for 4 bucks.. given that a fresh one cost about 3 dollars.. this is a no brainer
Has a nice place in the back to enjoy coffee, and a separate room for those with a computer. Coffee was good too. These things are plusses in comparison to other coffee shops. Their bathroom, however, is disgusting. This reflected on the whole experience.
Not a bad place to relax or work but I’m honestly not a fan of the pastries at all. The cookies are too hard. Matcha is disappointing so stick to espresso based drinks.
I’ve been going to various Sweetleaf locations for the past 3 years or more now. Unfortunately, through these years, they’ve almost always gotten something wrong. From completely wrong coffees, to missing items, to straight up being forgotten. It doesn’t matter how busy the shop is, it happens ~60% of the time. It’s a bummer, because the selection and atmosphere are great, it just seems that the teams could be trained better.
The wife was in the mood for some tea while we were in the area, so we googled. Sweetleaf was the closest to us and the best reviewed. We had tea, iced coffee, and hot chocolate. Honestly, everything was OK. Don't think anything is wrong with OK. If I am within walking distance I'd drop by again. The decorations were different. Decorated in 80s punk and glam rock wallpaper and memorabilia. Also, the place was a little tight. Great for a party of 2, but I wouldn't suggest more than 4. Service? Well I didn't feel unwelcomed, but I didn't feel welcomed either. 🤷♂️
I appreciate that the coffee has its own personality and different from what you get elsewhere. The pastries can mostly be skipped. The baristas are pretty consistently mildly rude. They always seemed annoyed that I showed up and that they're too cool to be bothered. Greeting me with a stare and a "I'm waiting on you" while standing at the espresso machine isn't inviting.
The associates were so sweet but I was not a fan of their coffee nor their iced tea. We grabbed a pack of their brownies too and the taste was just not there.
Fine to get a drink to go, not to stay in. The drinks (coffee drinks) here are fine, better than that the other location In LIC, but not anything I would seek out in terms of coffee. It always seems dirty. I've never seen them come out and wipe the tables or chairs. There are always crumbs on the tables and little bits of food or sticky drink rings around and it doesn't seem like they care. Also, the big table seems to be falling apart.
LOVE the coffee and the baristas are the best. Would normally be a 5 star review but my experience was soured by an owner/manager screaming at one of the baristas. It ruined the usual chill vibe of this place. I felt VERY uncomfortable and was left wondering if the lovely baristas are regularly subjected to verbal abuse from management, which made me wonder if I should be spending my money there.
Went there to get my Too Good to Go and they were closed (when they were supposed to be open until 5 pm, as a sign on the front door said). Sad because their carrot cake is perfect!
They don’t pay attention to your order and give your attitude on top of that for the gal of coming in and ordering a drink. Sadly they are the only coffee shop around that’s open that late. But they are full of entitled workers who can’t stand to be bothered by customers. If I could give 0 stars I would. (And I NEVER leave reviews….sad excuse for a coffee shop)
For a regular milk latte they charged almost 7 like if it where all organic. But that wasn't the problem, i send a guy over bc i was standing where i couldn't park and he only speaks Spanish, i send him with a photo and written text to make it easier but guess what? I got back whatever but what i order, he came with a latte i asked for iced coffe no sugar, got latte with suggar. He said someone came from the kitchen and " helped ". Not buying again, not a customer anymore, ans since milk makes me sick and my coworker don't like coffe i end up throwing 7 dollars.
Acidic overpriced coffee served with a major side of attitude. Their Center Blvd location is even worse. Entitled hipsters too confused to figure out how to provide basic client service. Much better alternatives all around the area!
The cafe is great, the coffee is great. I just wish the baristas would do less socializing behind the counter. They are obnoxiously loud. You might as well take your laptop to a high school cafeteria.
If you want a great cup of coffee this isn't the place to go. I ordered a pour over and immediately received a look of death from the barista behind the bar. Apparently I had just made her day harder by ordering a pour over, just because she had to do extra work. The coffee wasn't that great, the water was cold. I don't know why Sweetleaf would hire such incompetent people who don't know anything about coffee. After she handed me my pour over she made a snark comment about how nice a person she was for making a pour over, as if she had done a favor to me. Very disappointed with Sweetleaf.
I’m appalled by the lack of hospitality at this location. I’ve been to the Greenpoint location and the difference in attitudes is like night and day. There was absolutely no greeting by the guy who rang up my order, no acknowledgment for the payment, simply tapping away on the device and just proceeded to prepare the beverage. There were no other customers waiting to place their order, so there was no need to be hyper-focused on preparing the drink, which was actually premade. A simple, “hello” and “thank you” doesn’t cost anyone anything. I would not want to come back again.
