Amazing meal extremely tasty from every course. Very pleasant staff has time for a chat and advised on what was best when ordering, very quick service no waiting for your drink when you placed your order it came very quickly. The restaurant is really big and beautifully designed. Crispy duck was delicious as was the satay chicken skewers and crispy seaweed. For mains we had chicken curry and sizzling fillet steak Cantonese style which was cooked perfectly and tasted just as good , finished of with egg fried rice and chips. Very good price considering location and quality of food. One of the best Chinese meals we have ever had we will definitely be back again.
The little brother to famous Yang sing, I always preferred the little yang sing, Highly recommend for Dim Sum. Always Fresh and tasty, no frozen supermarket rubbish here. Always been very good food, lovely surroundings and a step up in service. A must try if you're in Manchester China town.
this place is amazing! all the food was incredible and portion sizes are huge. staff very attentive and so much choice - a little more on the expensive side but so perfect for a celebration or treat.
Visited as a party of three on 30/12/25. Certainly not the first visit here. The menu provides a lot of choice, including good vegetarian options. We had dim sum to start, with a main each with rice. The battered prawn dim sum was excellent, as was the beef dumplings. For mains we went for a chef special shredded steak chow mein in black pepper sauce (the most succulent steak I have ever had in such a dish - clearly quality ingredients), a sweet n sour duck and a lamb with spring onions and ginger. The duck in sweet n sour was particularly awesome. Very moreish!!!! Service was polite and attentive throughout. Food quality has been excellent every visit I've had here.
Absolutely 💯 % from walking in to getting served our meals delicious food so fresh staff very friendly very warm cosy atmosphere definitely will be going back again.
Amazing restaurant, great reputation and certainly one of the family favourites. The food quality is always too notch and when they shred the duck for you (highly recommend!) it always adds a bit of theatre for the kids too. Service is always very welcoming. 10/10.
One of the Best Chinese restaurants in Manchester, highly recommended by a friend! Located in heart of the China Town in the basement of the building in the main quarter, have to go down to the stairs to enter the restaurant. Highly recommended to make a reservation too. Food and Services are excellent! Truly enjoyed shared deal from the menu, must make sure it is what you want before ordering, quite generous portions. My steamed Sea Bass was best ever tried! Highly recommended!
Recently came to this restaurant for a family meal and loved every single moment of it! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was incredible! The staff were very helpful and friendly! We had the Blooming Blossom banquet and we enjoyed every single meal that was included in it! 100% worth the money and will definitely be back when I can! Thank you Little Yang Sing!
Chrysanthemum buffet was the banquet we ordered. Brilliant table service including shredding of duck and filleting the fish. Staff were excellent and professional. All food was piping hot and tasted delicious. Not sure on the beef wrap as the middle course though. Good drinks selection. Big portions and option of fork or chopsticks. Only off-putting thing is the delivery drivers sitting in the doorway we thought it was closed at first. The restaurant was very busy all through our time there.
Best Chinese I’ve been to in Chinatown. Everything is delicious! The prawn toast and dim sum is excellent. The fillet steak in black pepper sauce is stunning. Soft steak and delicious sauce.
Been coming back to this place for years and tonight was exceptionally good so had to give it 5*. 4 of us, two vegetarians and 2 carnivores, and we are like kings and queens. My daughter and I had the steamed bean curd rolled vegetables, mick duck pancakes, pal Choi, steamed rice, Szechuan chilli aubergine and vegetables in curry sauce.
Shoutout to Michael who offered and helped us debone the fish by table side!! They also offer steam fish dishes by fish fillets for those that don’t want to see the head and tail (we requested for the whole fish). Loved the beef stir fry noodles, wish it were the flat wide noodles but this hit the spot. All portions are on the larger side and delicious.
An early evening meal when the restaurant was empty and getting ready for the evenings trade. Food was very good, along with excellent service.
Best Chinese I've ever had. So many amazing vegan options that are clearly shown by the green card they can provide. Everything was super delicious. The service was impeccable, quick and very attentive (replacing dropped chopstick and water without asking). I've never been this impressed by a restaurant.
Me and my friend found this place in search of a good and authentic Chinese food, to satisfy our craving for it. We were gratified as not only the food was temptingly tasty, but the ambience was also soothing. The staff was friendly and prompt. Noodles and tofu were good, but I liked Dim-sum the most, properly cooked full of flavors. It's a great place to enjoy appetizing Chinese cuisine with friends and family.
This is the 2nd time we've been here and, although there was a 30 minute wait, we didn't mind as it was Saturday night so to be expected. The staff never stopped and worked so hard throughout the time we were there. The food was amazing, in fact it may well have been better than the last time we came, if that's possible. The gyoza is to die for and the only downside is that it can't be bought as an entire meal as we could've eaten it all night. The setting and decor is lovely and it's obviously very popular and for good reason. It is expensive but as we don't eat there all the time, we see it as a special treat.
Excellent food, however service could have been better! We were a table of 14, but food came out at stages, with some guests having to wait about 15 minutes for the other guests to get their food!
Wow! What a great find in Chinatown Manchester. Tucked downstairs from the street, this authentic Chinese restaurant serves up some seriously delicious food. We tried the crispy duck, sweet and sour chicken and the pork with black bean. All we’re super tasty. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and don’t know where to go. We went with our kids, and it was a hit with them too. The staff were very friendly and helpful!!
I called in today with my wife during a bit of Christmas shopping for a light lunch. This was our first time trying this restaurant but it won’t be our last. The service was excellent by the lovely staff. The food choice was good and reasonably priced. The food itself was excellent.
Best vegetable chow mein I’ve ever had! Service was amazing too, we arrived super late and they stayed open for us and were really attentive. 10/10 recommend Portions were also big so I took home the leftovers Salt and pepper chips were a bit weird though, they were almost sugary, not bad just different.
Enjoyed a great meal on a Saturday night with 10 work colleagues. Good value for money. Definitely worth a visit! Great value meal! Vegetarian spring rolls followed by sweetcorn soup and then tofu in black-bean sauce with noodles. Polite staff, clean surroundings a nice meal for two for under £60. (take advantage of the £3.50 parking offer for the NCP carpark next door - saved me £1.50!)...
Best Chinese food I’ve ever had! A great selection of vegetarian food which was the main thing which pulled me in to ordering from here. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very clean and modern inside and very Covid safe. The veggie dumplings in peppercorn sauce were delicious! I’ve never had dumplings before but after this, I will be ordering them from here again! Also ordered the Singapore noodles which were great! Thank you to Lester for looking after us on our visit! ☺️
Wonderful food and very lively atmosphere. Staff were exceptionally pleasant. Highly recommended.
I started reading the reviews after booking my table and was a bit put off by the negative ones, but still decided to go with the family and… we loved it. The staff were extremely professional and proactive. We were asked if we wanted to be moved to a different table because there was another party who were a bit louder than us - we didn’t mind, so we stayed within the original setup, but it was very nice of them to even suggest that should we prefer a quiet corner instead. I had the best crispy duck so far. Can’t wait to be back 😋
I ordered here on uber eats and everything was seriously delicious. Everything I ordered was vegan, and everything was excellent. The mock duck pancakes were especially delicious
Had a fantastic time here. Cannot fault it. Bit expensive but the food was very nice. The staff were all very nice and took good care of us. I've been here a few times and would definitely recommend this place. We will be back thanks again
Excellent Chinese restaurant. It’s in the Chiba town area which gives a nice overall experience. Everything we had was superb and the service was great as well. Highly recommend as the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time.
Great food, friendly service. Menu has a good selection of dishes, from classics of English Chinese to more unfamiliar dishes. Nice atmosphere.
Food was delicious - aromatic crispy duck, aubergine and minced pork casserole, Sichuan chili chicken, Singapore vermicelli. Staff could not have been more kind and considerate. Decor is a bit dark and dated, but who cares with food this good.
I had a solo dinner here. I ordered the special fried rice, seafood dumplings, spring rolls, duck, and some sauce ( can’t remember its name). It was a quiet night.
Went for a dinner on 13th May 2023 at 8:30pm. Not too sure it was newly decorated; the restaurant looked pretty clean and fresh. The platter was nice, it’s pretty large, very tasty with good selection of different food, definitely one of my favorite starters had in restaurants. The main courses were well made too. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. Only one thing, it was probably told by the manager, there was always some staff circling the tables over and over like sharks, probably saw them every minute or two. Once one plate emptied, it would be taken away by someone immediately. It might be the way they manage it, however I felt a little stressed and like they were trying to push everyone out as quickly as they can. Over all a very good experience. Will consider to return if go to Manchester again.
The staff was friendly and welcome. The restaurant wasn't overly busy for a Sunday evening, which was nice. Service was hit and miss depending which waiter. Ill manner by taking plates when not everyone was finished eating on the table. The decor was nice and the atmosphere was ok. The food was nice and a good portion, slightly overpriced but understandable as it's in the city centre.
Went for a work meal, first thing I loved is that we were on a round table so we could all chat with each other. Service was very good, quick and friendly. Food was probably one of the best Chinese food I've ever had. 100% recommended!
Popped in to Manchester Chinatown before catching a flight back to France. Wasn’t disappointed. Friendly welcome and excellent authentic Chinese food. Disappointed to discover later that a 10% service charge was added to the bill without my knowledge. Check your bill before paying!
Myself and my partner went last night with his parents. When we arrived we were told there was a wait which was fine as its Saturday night we had no booking. The bar area we had drinks in was quite small and the main bartender we found quite abrupt can clearly see she was very stressed. When we were taken to our table the service seemed good except for when one of the waitresses knocked the table and my drink spilt all over my jeans which as you can imagine was very uncomfortable. She then blamed my partner for it which was a little odd as we just expected her to apologise. She said theres dryers in the women's toilets… but this kind of ruined my evening anyway as they were not that powerful therefore didnt really dry much! The food was fab the servers seem very attentive.
A great find in Chinatown! Down the stairs and led to a table with everyone else, it was quiet and only a handful of people. But seating us near each other helped build atmosphere. There was a long wait time to order but once the ball was rolling, things came pretty fast. Food was delicious, but not as good as other Chinese resteraunts in town. The duck in lemon and honey was delicious, but very very fatty (more so than usual for a duck dish). The food was on balace extremely delicious, hot, well seasoned and despite the complaint of fatty duck, delicious. A small annoyance, their Cola's are quite expensive for cola and come in very small thin glasses. It's quite a rip off of your money especially when the food is reasonable priced. Staff are very pleasant, but hard to flag down to place another order. There was a 20 minute wait from the mains being taken away and a desert menu given to us finally managing to get their attention to order said desert. Overall, if the staff were a bit more attentive, and they sorted out their pricing for soft drinks in comparison to the quantity of soft drink you get, it would easily be a 5* rating.
As a foodie with a fondness for China town in Manchester and a penchant for authentic Chinese cuisine, my experience at Little Yang Sing was a mix of highs and lows. Arriving as a solo diner on a business trip, I found myself sandwiched between two fellow solo diners. To my left, a disgruntled chap lamented about his hour-long wait without any food. However, the swift response of the manager, who promptly apologized and took action, impressed me. Opting for a selection of dim sum to start, followed by quarter crispy duck and spinach in sauce, my order arrived promptly, perhaps spurred on by the urgency created by the neighboring diner's complaint. The service, particularly from Lisa and Chris, was impeccable, with a dedicated water server ensuring my glass remained topped up throughout the meal. Reflecting on past visits, I reminisced about dining here during my university days in the late 90s when it was known as "Little Sister" or something akin. While the nostalgia was palpable, the similarity in prices to those in London left me slightly disappointed. Despite this, the overall experience at Little Yang Sing was positive, with its efficient service, delicious dishes, and a touch of nostalgia making it a place I would consider returning to, albeit with the caveat of managing expectations around pricing.
Service very good, atmosphere and surroundings good, and food ok, except for the rice. In the egg fried rice it was dificult to find any egg. That was so called egg fried rice with hardly any egg masquerading as egg fried rice. It needed a lot more egg.
Food was great just felt the pricing was a bit unfair. I received great service though! My partner would love this place because they have so many great vegetarian options. Would definitely come back to try more of their food.
I would recommend you go elsewhere if you want to make your money worth. Dishes are around £17, most don’t come with rice or noodles (so that has to be added). I took the shredded duck with vermicelli, and it tasted dull -despite it being in the chefs’ recommendations section: not much duck, preserved vegetable very acidic, overall a bit too salty. Bill comes with sevice charge (10%) and they also charge £2.50 for a glass of water. The staff was reactive and nice, but the most important to me is food quality and price, which sadly didn’t meet my expectations.
Service is quick but they delivered us the wrong dish at first. After we asked for our correct dish, the made it fast. Dimsum taste quite nice but I am not happy with the duck with sour and spicy sauce b/c the quantity of meat we have is so little.
Food was slightly under Average service was pretty slow. My dish was the bbq duck with honey and lemon the duck was deep fried and pretty dry. The lemon sauce was so overpowering I tasted no honey..my plate was a bath of lemon sauce it was just everywhere. My other half's main was decent certainly better than mine. Her sauce on the dish she had was lovely & our appetisers was OK to. I expected better from a city centre Chinese. I wouldn't go again.
The place is in a side road and is spacious with traditional Chinese décor. Prices are reasonable. Unfortunately the taste of the hot and sour soup was not good. The main dishes were expanded with vegetables and the main items like prawns or chicken were sparce.
I visited during my citybreak in Manchester, and honestly, there might be better places to eat at Chinatown. The Staff was very kind, the man at the enterance, wearing the suit is absolutely fantastic. The place inside also looks great. My main issue is the food, most dishes do not include rice or noodles for the price, also information on the menu was preety vague, for example, I have ordered the "Curry Chicken" but I think that it didnt specify anywhere it came with onion and mushrooms, which im not the biggest fan of. Also the food was a bit too greasy for my liking, but the taste was good. If I have to advice you one thing, get the dim sum dumplings, especially prawn ones, they are absolutely fantastic. So overall it was fine, but there are probably better places to eat at Manchester Chinatown.
Have been to Yang Sing many times and thoroughly enjoyed everything from food to service. Went last night for a 70th birthday and was disappointed in the service . Dishes were thrown on the table, no staff interaction and looking miserable. Appeared to be short on staff so rushing from one table to another. Waiting at least half an hour for order to be taken and drinks.
Cold, grumpy, patronizing. There’s really no other way to describe the service we received from a lady we presume was the owner or manager. Most of our party wanted to leave but we stayed due to time constraints. The Har Kau and Siu Mai from the Dim Sum were a welcome upside. But the Duck with Garlic and Spicy sauce was overly sweet and not at all spicy. The restaurant itself is a pretty cool space. We opted out on the 10% discretionary tip.
Good day fellow hungry peoples. Okay listen up folks. This is awful food and awful service. After receiving an extremely over salted and over priced food deliveroo. Chillie chicken king pau and beef and vedge dish We reported our distain to the manager Luke. His response was …’’it’s because of those sauces we use, sometimes they go wrong’’ instead of an apology he said he’d never had a complaint and could I bring the food ( accross Manchester ) for him to taste. 🧐 I told him a far easier option would be to go into his kitchen and taste his ‘‘ go wrong sauces ‘’for himself and then call me back with his thoughts. He told me he doesn’t have the time! He actually treated me like the problem was mine and not his and seemed to get annoyed when I repeated the food is too salty to eat and that we have guidance in uk that we can only safely have 5mg of salt per day. This food has about 15 mg of salt per dish plus the same amount of MSG thrown in too. I’m not fussy but honestly it should come with a government health warning. 👎
IF YOU HAVE ALLERGYS STAY AWAY. Took 5 mins to be seated. 15 minutes to get a gluten free menu. Then another 5 to find out that technically 80% of the GF menu isn't actually GF even after being told by the server it could be done, he only confirmed because it was highlighted this was serious.... it's all cooked together in same fryers - What's the point in bothering advertising it when you don't do it correctly?
I’d like to start by saying the servers were great and I can’t fault them at all. Food wise, however, awful. The prices are astronomical considering the food was reheated from a microwaveable packet. The portion and size quality was not reflective of the price or the promise on the menu and I left disappointed and still hungry. I do not recommend going here if you are a foreign local. I could have made this at home while exerting minimal effort. I could have made a higher quality dish on a hangover.
Had to wait for +2h30 just for the bill to finally come after requesting it several times. Even going to the counter ask and try to pay was not enough to finally get that bill. It wasn't full, there was enough staff. We sincerely thought about leaving without paying for it. It ruined our day. At least the food was very good...
