I'm writing this review to thank and recognize the customer service of one of the team members. His name is Hector, I was amazed by his kindness when I asked him if there was anything spicy. He pointed at the salsa and mentioned it was really good but not so spicy 🔥.. then he offered to make some bothered jalapeno peppers, I told him that he didn't have to do that but he insisted and man they were good 💯💯 Hard to find workers that really care and go above and beyond for the customer. Thanks Hector I hope this company appreciates the dedication you put in your work.

Can get rather busy during the weekends, but the food hardly runs out. Restrooms red to be serviced more often during the weekends - overflowing waste basket and wet counters. A great feature is the ability to open the door using your forearm, but this would be made better by also adding the door opener. Also, the hand dryer nearest to the door does not work. Waiters are usually spot except that on a Friday afternoon my glass of water was never refilled despite the slow hour. I had noticed my waiter grouped with other waiters, chatting and only every so often clearing tables. I would like for there to be an accessible emergency exit on the south dining area because it is the only face of the property with an exit. If a fire broke out in the kitchen, then south dining area would be cut off from an exit. Do not eat in the south side.

I tried a couple golden corral in a different states, this one is the biggest I’ve ever visit. The steak was perfect, they dont put too much salt in it, not like the other golden corral most of them like spill the salt on the steak, it makes me “duele la cabeza” 🤠🤠. Overall the food was good and fresh. They have a Friendly staff as well. Totally recommended 👍🏾👍🏾

Our server was great, the food was pretty good & the staff did well to maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant. I'd definitely go again.

The food was good, their shrimp were a bit overcooked and it was a long wait for their sirloin but everything else was very tasty. Their dessert area could be cleaned a bit more since there was tons of mess around the dessert trays. The mashed potatoes were super good and my favorite entree was their beer battered fish. The location was really busy which is pretty normal for the area. It was also super loud so heads up if you aren’t into loud spaces.

Last Golden Corral location standing in McAllen. Typical buffet, they've got a Large variety of food from Chinese to Steaks to Seafood, large salad and dessert bars. It's a pretty good value too. I'd try going in the evenings when they offer premium cuts of meats.

Food is delicious but plates tend to be dirty sometimes.

Restaurant tables are very close, so I chose 4 stars. I did like the music at this location. The crowd was very engaged. I enjoyed the steak. I like it medium temp. It had a little fat but the rest tasted great. I liked the scalloped potatoes, salad and banana wafer pudding. Food tasted fresh, it was very busy so that helps with the turn over.

Your average golden corral. Just a lot of food for an affordable price. We came at the busiest moment, and people were pretty annoyed, but that's their own fault. There was a big line, but there's not much you can do about. Just pick a more quiet time. The food was okay and the staff was busy refilling the containers.

The waiters and waitresses have to be hunted down in order to get any service from them . Many of them could not speak english. The food that freshness and the quality of the meat was poor. Other than that the Sounded bar was very well . Prices have been increased by about 2 to 3 dollars for the average dinner plate which was higher in cost than corpus Christi Golden corral.

I like the place but.... it's become so expensive i rather buy a stake plate at Texas Longhorn. Food is ok. Always the same items.

Food was great! Very fresh and tasty. However, the desserts section was disgusting. What also wasn't appealing to the eye and disgusting was the lady (staff) behind the counter eating and licking her fingers while watching us look at her to restock and clean the area.

Food and the waitress were great... but the manager isn't very welcoming to large groups... this is the second time this happens. He doesn't want tables put together... they finally do but it's very uncomfortable knowing they aren't happy to see you there. First group was about 10 people including children. Today's group 14. I called Friday to make sure they could accommodate a group of 14 with the time and date and i was told yes so I don't know what the problem is

The waitress was friendly, but most of the food was dry. The steak, fish, shrimp, meatloaf and even the bread was dry. The ribs were very tender and the chicken was good. The salad bar lacks attention as well as the dessert bar. The veggies have no flavor. When compared to the Harlingen location, this location lacks love in it's food. I don't know if it was because I came at the 5 o'clock time and the staff is tired. The Harlingen location adds butter to their bread on top. This Mcallen location lacks a lil attention, love, and a smile or two from the cooks serving. If I am here again I will give it a second chance during lunch to see if there is a difference.

This is a great place and food is good. It was very smokey inside. It was packed on a Saturday. The service was good however they seemed understaffed and had difficulty keeping up. I'm not sure about other tables but, ours had sugar ants on it. A person couldn't really change table as it was crowded. I have to say we probably will not come back, at least not on a weekend

The prices are ok, they do have a lot of food, I would highly recommend to go before dinner. The employees are making food through the day. Be prepared to eat pasta, meat, fish, ice cream, cookies, all kind of desserts, potatoes, fresh menudo, tacos in the yellow tortilla, bread, soup and salads. (I must be missing something). Be aware that a lot of people visit the place, so be patient, the staff is efficient.

This place has declined some, dated and food is ok. Best part is you can consume as much as you want. Salad bar is the best part.

Just nice, it haven’t special anything. If you’re starving, and you want a lot food and cheaper and you’re around the area, it’s fine…

I went with my parents. I had a feeling that the servers were lost or unaware that we were there. The host had to tell us and sit anywhere. Still no server finally my Mom asked me to get her more soda so I went up to a “server” and asked her to please get me a refill.

The food was a bit bland, overall it was ok in flavor but the mashed potatoes did taste and had the texture of powdered mashed potato. Desserts were pretty good. The price was a bit much for the quality of the food, I tried most of the food.

We loved the food but all the dishes and glasses to get our drinks were poorly washed!! Disgusting!! 🤢 We spent like $50 for 2 people.

Today was not a good day for food delivery and service. My lady and I mainly go for the fish. The fried fish. We served ourselves after waiting for a while because no fish was available. Once we served ourselves 2 pieces each...after that they could not keep up with the fish, or the pork, liver, meatloaf, and roast beef. After we ate our 2 pieces of fish. I took it upon myself to go get our diet coke refills because we had yet to get a server to our table. Once I go to the fountain drink station. A server filled up our drinks of diet coke. Then I proceeded to clean our table. We still had not had a server or act kind of service. Once I cleaned the table and was taking our 2 plates away from our table a server approached me and raised her voice. She said she was very busy and short on keeping up with her tables. I said for her never again raise her voice. I said I'm not sorry abs that she didn't have a right to come after me for her not doing her job or a matter of another server helping her. It was a bit after 13:00 hours and a rush. Management failed to have adequate personnel in the service area abs the line cooks or cooks, preps.

There were many dirty tables in the area we went to. The servers like to stack dirty plates all around the tables where people were eating just so they don’t have to walk to the back and put them in bus tubs. I used to serve tables and bartenders for 14 years. They do buss boy work. The fact that they had a sign up that suggested we tip the servers was a laugh. Food was good.

The quality of the food here is okay, sadly a lot of the food is overcooked to the point where they are a bit dry, there are many options to choose for food. The sirloin steak here is good if you don't get a overcooked dry steak(ask for medium). I will be coming here for breakfast soon to rate them better.

Food wqs not yp to par with other Golden Corrals. When you go to GC, you expect hot food, the grill going..the place is usually buzzing. They were out of Ribs which were on special, fried chicken was luke warm, baked chucken was dried out...just nit what you expect from GC. I think i threw away more than i ate because it was either not hot, or dried out.

There aren't that many options and nothing stands out. The food is very basic and cheap. Salad bar was decent. All the chicken options are terrible. Too salty or no flavor, cold and undercooked. We gave up trying other options. I wanted to get a refill, but nobody offered, so I tried to get my own. Noticed a guy in a sports jersey refilling his drink, when I tried to get my refill he told me it's for employees only. I guess he worked there? Couldn't tell by what he was wearing. He didn't offer to refill my drink. Another employee did. Long story short, for the price it's not worth it. Average at best. First and last time for me.

This location in McAllen Texas is the worst golden coral. The place is filthy. Food and hair on buffet and ground in dirt on baseboards. Register area disgusting. I was gonna get some soft serve ice cream, and there was hair stuck to the nozzle. Many items out and not replaced in the 45 minutes I was there. The only positive was our server.

Have been to GCBG before at other locations before and was looking forward to eating here during our vacation. Place had napkins and food all over the place on the floor. Food did not look fresh at all, although they were busy that night. Was out of steak as the grill cook couldn't cook steaks and pork on a huge flat top grill he was using, so I had to wait for the pork to be done first, but half hour later he had disappeared and never saw him at the grill again! Were all out of ham, and there was a turkey there that was never carved, so I couldn't get any. Ice cream machine was out. Most desserts available look like they had been there all day. My wife's fried steak was good, but her hushpoppies were totally dried out! Drink refills were timely, and floor staff were nice and kind. I am highly disappointed at the food quality and lack of cleanliness we encountered at this location.

Steak was chewy, fish was just warm/bland, Taco meat was Horribly Greasy and chunky. Ribs were tasty and broccoli cheddar soup was good. Desserts were few and Messy. Just not like Corpus Christi, sorry.

Edit to add the service from a server named Edith in particular was extremely rude and disappointing. Never had an issue with customer service at this location. Not only was her attitude horrendous but her attention to tables was not there. Even for plate removal she was unavailable, when we tried to take plates off the table ourselves she came to give is more attitude and speak disrespectful to us. We then later caught her gossiping about us to a group of employees by the fountain machines in the back.

Not the same experience as when I was a child. Rosted chicken was overcooked, no pecan pie, steaks were thin and tasteless.

They didn't have a variety of food it was mainly chicken and the only thing that me and my family enjoyed eating was the sweet treats. The soda machine reeked of dirty water and it was dripping all over and other people as well were complaining about the food , I even witnessed two cooks fighting over something they did wrong and tables weren't being serviced well. If I'm gonna go dine in and waste a good penny I expect good service and good fresh food.

No Meat or Steak on Buffet I paid same price as everyone else on a Sunday after church, I had to wait till 2pm for steak on the Buffet so DO NOT go eat here AFTER Church in morning at 12pm you will pay full price for nothing!

I remember going to this golden corral when was a child and would LOVE it. But maaaan this place has changed. Ishould have read the reviews first bc they are all almost true. Food was mid and there was hardly a variety. And for that price??? I fr just ate $25 dollars worth of mash and mac and cheese. (I am NOT a picky eater). The food overall just looked suspicious. I understand its not the cooks or service staff at fault but do wish their menu options would be better.

Women’s restroom water is running faucets don’t close. Usually this restaurant has a good variety a plenty today it was scarce and not much variety. All golden corrals need to change and upgrade their food from salads to deserts.

The plate stand and holder is disgustingly dirty. The plates are not clean. The food is mislabeled and cold. People do not seem to really like their job. All in all it is a mess and a great way to catch something. There is meat just lying out on a rack waiting to be cooked. I do not recommend this place. In fact, stay away!

The truth is I am hugely disappointed with the quality of the food served at this famous buffet!! I went with my family to celebrate my brother's graduation and the truth is, in my opinion, the experience was NOT worth it AT ALL. The food was very low quality and ugly... The service we received from Miss Gloria was the best part of the experience, but I am very disappointed.

This place is a disaster! The food is mediocre! The service is absolutely horrible. I can't get anyone to refill the drinks and clean the plates off the table. And the place is like an oven! It's sad to pay so much money for this kind of treatment. Nobody should be eating dinner with sweat dripping down their face.

The food was good, but I dont think they can keep up with the number of people that are going. Especially when it comes to wanting to get a steak. They have one person making them, and the line for that steak is long. Hadn't been here for years, and I got reminded of why with this last visit.

Oh my God where do I start! Our server was amazing I would never complain about that because he did a great job and he was on the ball! Other than a few dirty plates on the racks and the dirty silverware fresh out of the packages that part was fair the atmosphere was good as it always is the floors are clean, but my biggest complaint is the food, they have no quality control whatsoever and when you can walk up to a food that looks like it's from the day before like wilted salad that's brown at breakfast time no less and all of their food is absolutely ice cold doesn't even meet the minimum temperature, people start getting sick in that haphazard environment! I literally had to call the manager over there and point out the fact that the food look like it was so old it could have been from yesterday dried out beans Brown salad and it was only 9:00 a.m. I only go to the breakfast at this location because the last experiences have been good but this time? I am never going back ever again I'll drive all the way to Harlingen before I'll go to the McAllen location ever again, the vibe i got was the manager didn't really give a damn she was just humoring me and the ladies behind the food counter were pissed off that they were having to replace it and you could tell! What kind of manager doesn't walk her own food line and make sure that the food is the kind of food they're willing to eat or feed their family, yeah that's what I thought this place does not deserve your business and that is a huge disappointment for me!

It used to be great but now it’s not. First of all very expensive. Second of all we all want to eat steak and what do they do? You pay , you get a table, you get a plate and if you want steak you better be prepared to stand in line and that’s a short line like 3 people waiting to get a piece of steak. And when the steak is ready they give you a little piece. By the time you sit down and start eating like 40 minutes already passed by. And then they turn off the stove on purpose so they take longer to cook . That way they don’t make as much. The managers don’t care and it’s just not worth it. If you want good steak go to Logans Road House . Over there they treat you like family. Never ever coming here again.

The salad looked brown not green. The meats cold, the tortilla child old and a lot of food was mixed up with other food, like the mash potato had some green things not sure if it was greenbeans or jalapeño. It was just nasty, not cleaned, not at the correct temperature

I had always loved to eat at Golden corral, loved their food until last weekend when my husband and I went to eat there, I went to get a plate and saw 2 roaches crawling in the pile of plates, I jumped out and all the pile of plates fell down, instead to taking the plates to the kitchen to wash them, the kitchen guy put them back in the pile. I think thei restaurant is in need of health inspection ASAP, I told my husband we are not returning there what a shame.

This place needs a major upgrade. My dinning experience was not good. The air-conditioning wasn't working. Ladies facility was dirty and wasn't properly working. Their ice machine had broken down. My entry time 6pm and no food on the line. Had to wait around 20 minutes till any food was out. For what I paid for 3 people wasn't worth the wait.

Staff were in horrible mood and rolling eyes , food was cold and horrible and with no flavor , there wasn’t much food to eat since they didn’t refill nothing , another waitress said she was going to take our table from our waitress away , ice cream lady did terrible service , we didn’t get most of our drinks , plates weren’t washed well , Terrible 👎🏻

I have never really had a bad experience at other Golden Corrals except for now. Food was either overcooked or undercooked. No flavor or just out right nasty. No service had to go to wait station and get what I needed myself. Gloves were too small and all they had were children's forks. Won't eat at this one again. Ok, update... now it's the day after. I'm sick now. Thanks Golden Corral.

If I could give them 1 star then I would. The food is not hot. We went in for Sunday morning breakfast. There was no omelettes or French toast. They only had apple juice working on the bar, so I ask the waitress to bring me some orange juice. The orange juice was watered down! I won’t be going back.

They close “whenever they want” 🤣 got there exactly at 8, so misleading. Update y’all’s hours if y’all don’t intend to honor them 😂

My partner & I were in McAllen, so it was easy for us to just come to The Golden Corral here. As soon as we walked in, HUGE line. It was HOT. We still decided to wait, considering that the only Golden Corral we like is in Harlingen. Ladies were nice, but I have to say. There wasn’t much options to eat. They didn’t even have lemons for my fried fish 😔 I’m not going to lie guys, we walked out. It wasn’t worth the wait at all. All I touched was the Mac & cheese & my parter only ate Mashed potatoes. I Just wasted $45 on a “buffet” that didn’t have much options.

All employees were on their cell phones while fixing the food in the bar. People waiting in line for the meats. The bar was never clean food scattered everywhere. Nothing compares to Lubys. Will not go back again. You be the judge of it all

The atmosphere and service was an uncomfortable one to say the least. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing sit down with their family. It all started with the line that you are greeted with and having to hold your beverage in hand to get seated. The managers are constantly watching your every move and is very unprofessional. I gave this place a chance and it was a big mistake. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN.

Horrible service ! First the waiter dint want to to get tables together even tho we were a party or 14 ! She said you guys can find another place I’m not moving my tables thankfully another beautiful souls older man help us and got us another tables ready for us , Then I waited in line for the steak with 6 of my party for 15 minutes everyone got tired so they left I stayed waiting with 2 plates for me and my disable grandma while she went to sit and my brother stayed with me the guy gave me a piece and my brother But REFUSED to give me the other piece for my grandmas plates and gave the rest of the line wich mind you there was about 10 people after me already, I OBVIOUSLY got upset because to my knowledge the buffet is ALL YOU WANT TO EAT no where it’s says it limited he got upset and yelled at the manager “me voy a ir “ and left the building , ALSO the Pizzas my 4 and 2 year old had to wait also 25 min that because they had a big Oder of pizzas to take out before they could put some FOR THE BUFFET that we all paid entry for I paid $250 for my party to have had this awful experience on my little brothers birthday!

Love how they say they support military/ veterans but don't offer discount for disabled veterans. It's just a front. Other golden corals do except military/veterans a discount except this one..never will I ever go their..not only that, food was overcooked or undercooked. Management sks

This is the most dirty and disgusting place to eat. Complaint was made and employee said the managers are aware but they don’t care.

The fried chicken was good, but the cheeseburger had a chicken bone inside the patty. The 1st manager blamed Tyson, saying that they receive the patties ready to go. The 2nd manager admitted they prepare the patties themselves and it had to have gotten into the meat in their kitchen. He barely even apologized and went to talk to the kitchen. I did get sick within a few hours, possibly from that cross-contaminated burger

Very poor service from the waitress. She was so rude. I had to tell her I would get my own refills if she didn't want to do it. Its breakfast there are hardly any customers on our end. She only offered my mother refills and walked away from me. The food taste was questionable also. (Burnt mini waffles sheesh!)

Despite reading the less than favorable reviews we gave it a chance as we have had great experiences in other states. After an evening of stomach aches and questioning my sanity I decided to write this review. The pictures do NOT lie. The “clean” dishes were dirty, the floors are sticky, endless tables had piled up dirty dishes stacked on them. Some of the crew was superficially busy while others were hiding in plain sight. In EVERY bar section the main foods were missing/empty. The counters were dirty; NO ONE was cleaning anything. This is one restaurant in the RGV that I will NOT visit a second time. The service was non-existent. The food I wanted and got to look forward to from other locations was not available. Desert Selection was dirty and lousy. I am sorry I brought my husband here. No need for superficial responses like you left for other reviews.👎

Me and my friend went here about 1-2 weeks ago. I decided to get a variety of options. All of them weren’t good at all. Bourbon Chicken had the texture like it had been sitting there for hours. The pot roast with potatoes had a LOT of fat. I took one sip and it made my stomach ache. The Chicken and Gnocchi soup wasn’t even hot. Very hard biscuits. At the ice cream stand, me and my friend kept trying to get a cone that wasn’t broken. One of the ladies that was “attending” the stand, told us we should sprinkle the nuts and cookie crumbs over the cookie crumbs. What if someone dropped their ice cream in there? That’s unsanitary. The place was just extremely gross. There was a stray hot dog on some plastic. A lot of possible cross contamination issues. The pizza area to be specific looked the worst. With so many “cooks “ hiding behind the counters, maybe one of them should clean the area that holds all the food for the customers. I didn’t count the options but there were almost none. Just one pie, a plate of old stale brownies. You think there could at least be cookies, none. T I’m not sure if it was because it’s a weekday, but all days should have equal options and equal quality. I used to go to Golden Corral with my mom all the time, this is likely a management issue or staff issue. We will not be eating here again, it just feels like we’d get food poisoning.

I have never reviewed a restaurant until I came to this place. The plates, cups, tables, and floors were all dirty and unsanitary. Even worse, a majority of trays in the buffet were utterly empty. What little food they did have looked downright nasty. I was forced to eat chicken, which was pinkish/purple. It was either that or fish. My first thought sitting down with the food was, "How can we get our money back and leave?" We paid over $90 for just 4 people, and every single person was unhappy. We were relieved to leave. I never had such a miserable experience before.

Why don't you change the time on the app to the right one? I arrived here at 8:50 and I thought I could have breakfast, but I found it was not open.OK. Then a few minutes later, the same other people drove up, and it was the same situation, wasting other people's time and energy.It doesn't take a long time to modify the information on the Internet.

The restaurant is so outdated and the price is NOT worth it! They barely have any food choices and what they do have out looks old. The desserts look like they were bought from the store and just placed there. They used to have more food choices back then, now it is worse than a cheap Chinese buffet.

Lunch with friend, few good food choices for the price? Especially the 🍖 meats are limited to Dinner and not available during lunchtime (just poultry and fried fish, meatloaf ran out). Disappointed, No steaks, or roast beef. Attendant was polite and efficient. How about upgrading dishware and cups Management. 🚻 Restroom needs attention. Early bird discount for Seniors including drinks. Overall experience not impressed.

Do not recommend going after 5 PM. They only have sides out and no meats at all. Paid over $100 for 5 and it was a waist of money! Over a 20 minute wait for pizza or any sort of meat!! was very disappointed and manager only said "well after 5PM we don't cook much food" mind you, the restaurant was full and people were very upset! You guys ask to email you my number, yet not one single call have I received!

So expensive. But yet hardly any food is done. Simple as chicken tenders. I asked if they can make them. Literally the cook told me u should of came another day. I'm a regular and it's always served. Hopefully this one closes down like the one on 10th Street so a new one opens with a fresh minded set of managers

Paid $20 pp for weekend buffet (with senior discount) and reviewed all the food items and never in my 1.5 hrs. stay saw one single solitary shrimp in the hot trays; let's say I'll give them a pass on this one as probably they ran out purposefully. What I won't give them a pass on is the grouch at the carving station- what a disgruntled, sour and bitter being they have serving the ribs and ham; as a new slab of ribs was coming out I told him what piece I wanted, after giving me the "look" and vociferating an unclear phoneme, he proceeded to cut my piece in half, in half, what a disgusting arrogant individual- he wasn't going to let me have my way; he wanted to show me he was the "boss" of the carving station; you know what, keep your ribs now and forever; thanks to this individual you lost my business as well as my whole entourage's business.

I can't believe this place is still operating. Most plates are dirty. The waiter was very kind and the food was not bad but it was disgusting to use their plates. I was going to take pics but didn't want to embarrass my daughters. This place should be shut down. They're probably paying off the inspectors. I hadn't been there in a long time due to the same reason but my girls wanted to eat there. GROSS

SO SAD. We have always loved Golden Corral and just moved to the RGV and realized we have one near us. Went tonight and it was so disappointing. We paid $61 not including tip to eat old, nasty food. Literally nothing we ate was fresh and had probably been out for ATLEAST an hour or two. The desserts were disgusting and stale. The banana pudding was literally turning brown and the serving spoon had dropped into the pudding and remained there the entirety of our visit. Seems like the staff doesn’t care at all about the quality of the food or cleanliness of the restaurant. Our waiter didn’t check in with us very much and the restrooms were gross. Also the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was just sad. I can’t believe we spent so much money for such bad quality food. We hardly ever go out and will definitely not be back unless improvements are made. Spend your money elsewhere.

Every time I've gone, chicken has been almost raw in some parts. Some pieces still have pink on them Chicken could be cooked a little bit more. The beef was overcooked, gray in the center after I've asked for medium-term, beef cuts full of fat and very little meat The best part was the seafood and the salad bar
