Any place can make a sub. This place is fast and kind. The people here interact with the customers instead of just doing their job, which is always nice. You can get in and out fairly quickly regardless of the line or order.

Good is still fresh and tasty after 6 years. I left the area years ago. It whenever I visit. This New York area. I must have their sandwich a particularly the Italian mix

OMG! It's like the little yellow shack that makes the best subs fresh and soft I had trouble making up my mind with the selection they hadn't sandwiches so I settled for a Philly cheese steak that was so succulent I ate that bad boy quick so I really recommend this little tiny establishment for sandwiches or El fresco outside enjoy the day with a beautiful sandwich.

LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Please ignore the other reviews about them being rude. They obviously know each other! Who calls at lunch time knowing it's busy, places a huge order, and then wants individual amounts. Figure it out yourself and estimate it. That's what people at work do.

I highly recommend you give them a try under new ownership, but they strive to keep each and every customer happy with a full belly. Food taste great and will go out of their way to help you out.

I've been a regular here for many years and the quality and prices are unbeatable. Love the daily specials. They also make great tacos. ;)

I ordered a turkey bacon sub when they had their open sign turned off. They did have the lights on I walked up to the door. A Gentleman gladly greeted me said if you see the lights on we are here. I'm not going to let you leave hungry I highly recommend them. They are keeping it original.

We ordered sandwiches for our whole family. I had plans to save half of mine until later...didn’t happen. The bread was soft and fresh as were the meat, cheese and toppings for a reasonable price. My family was impressed. So impressed, we are here right now ordering again before we return to the city.

I never really eat steak. I will tell I had best steak and pepper jack cheese sub it was amazing. If you go stop and get one The new owners are great.

If there were more than 5 stars I'd give more. Went yesterday for the first time in awhile. Had a reunion and mozzarella sticks! So good!! Will be back soon.

Haven't been back in a while,due to the size,but I did go back fri and it was on point!! Great job!! Will be going back now....4/19,so I went back, ordered a Italian mix...I got home and it was ham and bologna,2slices of bologna,2slices of ham.... Never again..sorry

Went for a Philly yesterday and had a bet with the guy if it was better than Jersey Mikes. Long story short, I came back for lunch today. The new owners have created an absolutely magnificent menu, adding the depth and flavor of Italian authenticity to every single bite. Pro tip, try The Grilled Mortadella, #29. *chefs kiss* Perfecto.

I was hesitant to try because I was a enormous fan of the original, but I have to say, I was impressed. Friendly service, fresh and tasty food. Cheeseburger sub was phenomenal. Will go again Only negative, I'm dying for the original Mac salad there and as of right now,salads are not offered. But, I will be back. Bravo submaker 1981.

I love submaker! Great subs with lots of flavor, Italian style. I love the shredded lettuce on the subs it adds the perfect amount of crunch. They are good sized subs and the bread doesn't take up the whole sandwich like other places which I love to see. Staff is always super nice and helpful, I'll definitely be back!

This was my first visit to this place. Martha (the lady in the front) provides excellent customer service. Was very patient and sweet, just like the guys in the kitchen. The Philly was delicious, with plenty of meat and great flavor. I will be back!!

So happy to see The Submaker is back open, These are some of the best sandwiches in the capital district. The bread is always amazing and the meat, cheese, dressing, ratio is always perfect, every bite is delicious! I see some bad reviews and to be honest can’t imagine how? A+ for The Submaker! Any time I’m craving a good sub this is my go to spot.

They’re back!! Not sure who the owners are but the subs seem the same. Thin rolls, shaved lettuce and the awesome pepper sauce. Window ordering only which wasn’t so nice in the cold. But it didn’t really bother me. Also a little hard to hear the guy taking orders but we were patient. Give them a chance if you can. Nice to see them back so far. Prices possibly went up slightly but I couldn’t remember. Seemed reasonably priced to me. 10 for a footlong Italian mixed isn’t bad at all.

Great food for good prices, and nice staff! Since the renovation they've been adding more options, it seems like every month there's something new and exciting to try! I come back at least once a week to get my favorite subs for me and my coworkers. I've never gotten bad food here.

So good! Ordered 2 cheeseburger subs for pickup. Once I arrived, service was prompt, professional and extremely friendly. Sean even threw in a free cookie for my mothers birthday! And the best part, the subs were absolutely delicious and just what my mom was looking for. Perfectly portioned and cooked to a tee. Can’t beat the classic taste!

Hands down the best subs I've ever had. I've been going there since the 1980's and there is no comparison. The sub rolls are great and a huge plus when compared to other shops that give you a whole loaf of bread. It's not heavy on the meat, everything is fresh, and I don't know what's in the oil but it tastes fantastic. I would describe it as a perfect, old fashioned sub.

Awesome subs. Huge menu. Bacon cheese burger subs are insanely delicious get it with the grilled onions. Only thing is do not eat inside unless you want to smell like a sub joint till you shower and wash your clothes. I always call in order and do an in and out fast. Family owned local and great.

My fiance and I both had the bacon cheeseburger sub, which was delicious! It's a nice little spot with seating inside and out, and the service was great. The two women who were working at the counter were friendly and made our subs fresh to order, making sure we got them how we liked. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, especially the potato salad. For the two of us, it only cost 22 dollars with full sized sandwiches, drinks, and potato salad. I'll definitely go again to try a different sub.

You MUST try the cheeseburger sub!! Put Russian dressing on it. Everything else is great, too. I took off one star because there's not much seating, and no restroom.

Food is delicious!!! & prices are good. That's the only reason why I keep coming back, because the young girls who work there now always have attitudes. I don't know what happened to the friendly middle aged women who worked there before, haven't seen them in a while. But I would not be surprised if this place is losing business because of the current staff.

The food always smells so delicious! Call ahead and have your food ready and waiting when you arrive! They have hot and cold subs, tacos, and daily specials to choose from each day. Delicious!

The subs are good but I watched her make my sub and there is only one slice of deli meat that goes on each half of the sub. That blows my mind. For the price it's not worth it unless someone else is paying for it

It's good. The bread is soft, fresh and tasty. It is currently only take out; other than the one outside picnic table waiting customers utilize. They do go light on the meat, but it is fresh and reflected in the cheaper prices. It beats a chain sub shop any day of the week.

Average. Ordered an Italian mix. Mostly bread. Pretty light on meats and cheese so while the price is pretty reasonable, relatively speaking, I wouldn't call it a bargain. Their Italian mix only has ham and salami. Bread is very light and fluffy if thats your thing.

The experience of ordering was nice. Sliding window and super friendly staff.. we stay outdoors. The sub itself was very thin for the price. At deli brew you pay 15 bucks for a 2 meal sub. At stewarts it's 7.15 for 6 ounces of meat. I feel like this sub had about 4 ounces or less and was about 8 bucks

They say call ahead to save time but they just add time to your order while getting everyone else who ordered in person out first even though they ordered after you placed yours. Smh.

There seems to be a "Fundamental" change with the restaurant, Phone calls take longer to be answered and the Sandwhich bread are not as fresh as they used to be. I think the store was sold to someone else that does not keep the same level of quality as before.

Disappointing. Those waiting, after having ordered, said the place was the greatest. I was excited. Friendly, patient order taker. As for the food, though... Turns out the turkey was that rubbery deli kind. Lettuce was iceberg. Sub roll was white and utterly tasteless. Potato salad was minced and mucky. All in all nothing special. Go home and make your own sandwich instead. Oh well...

Typically love this place. However got a sub yesterday only half the sub had turkey and cheese on both sides so basically I paid for a full sub but was really only given a mini. So disappointed... not sure if there are new owners but won't be returning any time soon... 😕

Seen that the submaker was back open. Wanted to stop and try it out. Convenient cause it's on my way to work. I normally give a place 3 tries before I review but this is needed to get out there. I hope the owner reads this. The service was good. Little difficult time getting my order in cause it's loud with traffic, hard to hear. They have a walk up window. The sub it's self.....very disappointing. 9 dollars for a half sub with barely 2oz of meat and cheese. I asked for lettuce, not alot on there either. I asked for Italian dressing on the side, they put it on the sub and forgot to get me the side. Even for a half sub it was really small. Super nice people and I wish them the best with their business. I will try again in a few weeks. If it doesn't get better I will have to pass on them in the future

I was excited that this place re-opened but if you are expecting it to be the same as before, its not. They have changed how they serve people to just outside which would be ok if they were more efficient. In the cold winter wind, waiting more than 20 mins for 2 subs is unacceptable. Add to that a customer who got there after you getting served before you (who also ordered when they got there) it makes their service even less desirable. However, the food was good and the woman taking orders and presenting finished orders was very nice. Overall, not the best first impression of what can be considered a new business.

The.shop is under new ownership. Food quality and Portion are not the same. Wait time is a lot longer. Made.with the wrong cheese.

Almost nothing on the roll, was literally a stale supermarket roll. For the same price, you get literally 5x as much at deli and brew.

If I could give zero stars I would. Idk what all the hype is about. The person who took our order was beyond rude and barely even looked at us. The food was awful and honestly after two bites you could tell it was not fresh and had been sitting out. I threw it away fearful I might get food poisoning. Never ever coming here again.

Took over 30 minutes to get 2 cheeseburger subs. The meat was also rolled into a tube for some reason and the sub was put together very sloppily. Sad to see this place go down like this.

The new submaker is terrible the subs are gross and I paid 40 dollars for two subs which is outrageous. I will never go there again and unless the become more realistic on there prices the will not last.

Bread sandwich. One piece of ham and one piece of turkey. Two subs for over $15 with nothing to it. How does this place have almost 5 stars?

This was our first time here and will be our last. Ordered 1 turkey bacon with lettuce tomato onion and mayo. Took 25 minutes to get my sub. When I got back to the car and opened it up (I always check my subs anywhere before I leave) they had forgotten to put the turkey and bacon on my sub and I just got a roll with the veggies on it. I went back and was given my correct sub finally but when we were eating it one of the pieces of parchment paper that they put between slices of meat to keep them from sticking together was in the sub. At this point I didn’t feel like driving back and waiting another 20 minutes in hopes I’d get my order right.

So..this used to be my go to place until now..they just raised the prices on their subs by $4..now I can understand increases especially now adays but...they made no improvements in fact I think they are actually putting less meat on the subs. Also..I think they may be using a different roll...either that or the one I got was stale as hell...either way the quality of the product they provide is not worth the price increase...I will not be returning and will no longer be recommending this place to others.

This place used to be wonderful. It must be under new management and it has really gone downhill. My coworkers and I called ahead and ordered, the order was still not ready 20 min later and many people on line had been waiting 10+minutes for one sub. This is also the second order that has been incorrect. The bread was stale and the sub was awful. Sadly this place used to be a favorite of my coworkers and I who work in Menands but we will not be returning.

I frequent this place several times before and It's a sad day when you go to a restaurant to get something that they specialize in (subs) to find out that I could have gotten a better sub at Stewart's or Cumberland Farms!!!! Hardly ANY meat on the sub could only taste the lettuce and tomatoes. Called and was told to bring it back they will remake just to get the same quality. Sorry this place lost me as a customer!

I ordered my husband a roastbeef with double meat and extra russian, lettuce, tomatoe, onion & cheese. Unfortunately it didn't come out as ordered. Very little roastbeef or russian, no onions or cheese. Not to mention the roll was stale! The man taking the orders had filthy hands and & nails and no gloves on. It won't be long before the Health Dept. gets called in. Very disappointing after 42 years!!

If I could give this place a -5 Starts i would. I recently called to place a Large order for me and my employee's , and when i say the person who answered the phone was extremely RUDE and very smart with the lip ! I asked the young lady for each price for the order so that everyone knew what their meal cost, the rep got upset slammed the phone on the counter, and made a rude comment. She got back on the phone and began to proceed. I then asked her if there was a problem she immediately became defensive stating she has been nothing but nice to me which was never the case. I then asked for her manager, she said why so you could waste her time since its so busy. i almost lost it, her manager got on the phone i asked if i was wasting her time, she had no comment . I hung up on them, they called back i told them i will not order anything from them, nor do we no longer need their services. Caller was very apologetic but i will not order food from unprofessional people. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE !!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND EXTREMELY RUDE!

Was excited to see it reopened. New owners. Ordered a cheeseburger sub. 12" cost $14.85 plus tip. Was one of the worst things I ever paid for. Dry burnt burger that was cooked in the morning and reheated. Couldn't see the cheese and a sliver of tomato with shaved lettuce. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. I could have gone to BK and gotten a whopper for half the price and it would be 100% better. Do t know how they can put out food like that. Never again. A shame.

STAY AWAY!! Burger King is better, please believeeeee.!! The classic cheeseburger bacon sub I got was a shame compared to its predecessor. This was shameful, I couldn’t even take more than two bites. They also forgot my bacon! It literally tasted like frozen patties, consistency was terrible, flavor, you name it. I’m beside myself, I wanted to support local business but not at this price for inedible food. This coming from someone who never sends anything back but I just feel betrayed. Not going to get what you think. I’d try to get my money back but it’d for sure be a waste of time. I hate wasting food.

I was informed it was under new management and it shows. I ordered a Philly cheese steak and it was heated roast beef with one slice of cheese. The sub is dryer than the Sahara desert. Luckily, I have Popeyes bold bbq to moisten this baby up. This sub isn’t even worthy enough to be served as someone’s last meal on death row. Also, they charge extra for bacon that’s already included on the sandwich. It’s like getting charged separately for turkey for a turkey sandwich. Maybe I was suppose to pay extra for the moistness. Signed, some very disappointed hungry, and just wanted a decent sub human beings.
