We had a birthday lunch here and it was amazing. The location is beautiful, the decor is soothing and the service was impeccable. It was too cold to sit on the patio but we went outside after the meal to take sone pictures of the hillside. The food was excellent across all three courses with the savory puffs being everyone’s favorite fish.
Went for some drinks after work with my friend and had a great time. Jason and Lauren at the bar were very warm and made us some yummy petite cocktails then recommended some tasty appetizers to pair with. Vitsu, Guillerme and Leo were very attentive and checked in on us a few times, which we greatly appreciated that! The atmosphere was very nice and cozy, I really liked the fireplace lit as it was quite chilly in the evening. Definitely a nice relaxing girls catch-up time after a long day of work!!
12.18.25 In the Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel, which I could write a separate review for but won't as it was over a decade ago. Delicious lunch menu, salmon and steak dishes were excellent, service was wonderful, setting and restrooms were beautiful and portions were perfect for us. Lunch prices were excellent. Will try their brunch next time. Reservations only. Dining here after 13 years, this time with my parents instead of with a suffocating venture capitalist, was much more pleasant, at least this time I could actually taste what I was eating. This was my 4th time dining here, could not remember the food in the 1st 3 instances. Dine with people you enjoy your time with. Thank you.
Lovely Atmosphere, Cozy Lighting accentuated by dark wood paneling and tan leather seating creates a gorgeous ambiance with Mountain Views. It was a Magnificent setting for a romantic rendezvous and she loved the creative cocktails complimented by attentive and unhurried service at the bar. A Fabulous Holiday Jazz soundtrack made the whole experience over the top while sitting by the crackling fireplace. One of my favorite places. Cheers.
I had an excellent time at Madera. The restaurant delivers a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere, with dishes that are beautifully presented and full of rich, balanced flavors. The service is attentive without being intrusive, and every detail—from the bread to the entrées—feels thoughtfully crafted. A perfect spot for a special night out.
We had a wonderful experience at Madera Restaurant. We went for dinner. The atmosphere was romantic and elegant — perfect for a special evening. The service was attentive and truly excellent from start to finish. Every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the cheesecake was absolutely heavenly, served with dried fruit. We also loved the thoughtful touch of writing “Happy Anniversary” on our dessert plate and surprising us with a Polaroid photo to take home. Overall, Madera is definitely a great place for a special occasion. Highly recommended!
Madara Restaurant is such a great spot! The views are absolutely beautiful and make the whole experience even better. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The food was delicious—every dish felt fresh and well-prepared. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for a treat and a memorable meal.
Nestled inside the luxurious Rosewood Sand Hill hotel, Madera offers classic California grill fare such as oysters, crab rolls, chicken and salads. The best part of this restaurant is definitely the crowd it draws, from tech bros (complete in Patagonia vests), wealthy house wives and country club regulars, this is the perfect place for people watching, casual get togethers power-lunches or business meals. Reservations are highly recommended given its location right across VC firms north of Sand Hill Road.
We've dined here on several occasions and always experience excellent service and delicious meals. Located in the Rosewood hotel near Stanford University, the atmosphere is calm and cozy. The menu changes often, offering a mix of seafood and comfort foods. We actually prefer ordering several appetizers and share an entree. Wine list is extensive. This is certainly one of our go to places.
Elegant dining experience at Madera. Service was top notch starting from the check-in and all the way through the meal. Lively and chic atmosphere, coupled with a decent selection of food and wine. The pork chop and grilled octopus were both tasty. Nice view from the patio, as well as from the bar next door. Large parking lot makes it easy to find a spot.
Great food, elegant restaurant! The restaurant is on the first floor of the Rosewood hotel. Went on a Sunday night and there are a lot empty tables - great for having a group convo! Everything is delicious - Sunday roast is $80 that comes with bread, salad, and a large slice of meat. Definitely more than enough for 1 person. The meat is so tender and flavorful! Scallop crudo is very fresh, and surprisingly goes well with passionfruit (?) sauce. The sweet-sour tastes opens up appetite and taste palette. Summer risotto tastes super good as well, and very filling. It was just a little over $100 pp post tax and tip. With this quality of food and environment, definitely not bad at all!
The location is fantastic. The views of the balcony tables are breathtaking. The service was very good. The bloody Maria was to die for. The cucumber ginger beer cocktail was very refreshing. Great menu selection for brunch. The fried chicken sandwich was crispy and very filling. The prices are much higher than the average Menlo Park. Great spot for a special occasions.
My husband surprised me with a reservation to Madera for our anniversary on a Monday. Our reservation was at 5:30 pm but they suggested getting there about 15 minutes early, so we got there around 5:15 pm and was seated right away. They have an open kitchen close to the entrance and lovely dining room with vaulted ceilings as well as outdoor patio spaces as well. I requested to sit inside but closer to the windows for the beautiful green scenery in the background. The menu is nice and small which was great because I am typically overwhelmed when the menu is endless. We ordered the smoked deviled eggs, grill octopus, Ora king salmon, liberty farms dry aged duck breast. The smoked deviled eggs were really good and topped with trout roe so it was a great combination. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked and have a nice Smokey taste to it as well. The star of the night were the large dishes, Ora king salmon and livery farms dry aged duck breast. The Ora king salmon was hands down the best salmon I’ve tried. The skin was very nice and crispy, while the salmon was perfectly cooked. The salmon quality itself was the best I’ve had. I wasn’t served a belly piece but it sure feels like it with all of the omega oozing out of it. This was perfect paired with small cuts of citrus and a type of herb sauce. The duck breast was also perfectly cooked and amazingly flavored. The duck skin itself was very nice and crispy while the duck breast meat was still juicy. My husband and I both would come back just for the salmon and duck breast. And of course we had to celebrate our anniversary with dessert! We were so full that we ended up getting just 1 dessert to share. I unfortunately don’t remember the name of the dessert but it was a cheesecake made out of sheep’s milk. The cheesecake wasn’t a traditional cheesecake. It was just soft cheesecake with no breading served on some type of glazed with strawberries and topped with pistachios crumbles. I didn’t think I’ll like sheep milk but this cheesecake was amazing and out of this world. For two people that were too full to look at the dessert menu, we ended up scrapping the plate clean! Service was amazing here as well! Our server, Andrea was very kind, patient and attentive. She made the experience way better with her recommendations of the menu, drinks, and constantly coming back to check in on us.
Had an amazing breakfast. Tried the Granola bowl which was out of this world, and my guest tried the egg white omellete which mushrooms and goat cheese. Amazing ambiance great breakfast. Quick and Easy.
We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. We decided to go there for brunch on Sunday. Every thing was amazing. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious. My wife is vegetarian and even though they had a set three course menu for Easter, they made a lot of accommodations for her. I highly recommend this place. There was one thing I was annoyed about. We asked if we could be seated outside and the host said that all the outside tables were completely booked up. But the whole time we were there, about the half the tables were empty.
For the $108 price each, I’d say the experience was just OK overall. It felt like most of what we were paying for was the ambience. We got the first sandwich plate, then had to wait nearly an hour for the second afternoon tea tray - and only got it after asking when it’s gonna be ready. I was expecting something a bit more special from the Dandelion collaboration, but aside from a chocolate canelé and a marshmallow dessert, that was pretty much it.
Not a memorable experience. None of the dishes we ordered stood out for us. The prawns dish was dry, had a strong burnt taste, which overpowered any other flavors. The chicken was extremely extremely salty, and we couldn’t eat it. How can a Michelin star not get the salt right? The risotto was good. Service was slow. After handing out the menus, no one came to our table for 15mins. Our server didn’t bother to explain the menu, or tell us anything about the dishes we ordered. Only saving grace was the desert.. it was delish, and the views are great! Probably my least favorite of all Michelin restaurants I’ve been to.
Food didn't feel particularly specially enough for everything to total almost $100 While I did leave feeling very full and satisfied, wat we got didn't justify the price. Nothing felt particularly special or creative to me. Every dish was perfectly cooked, but lacked a variety of texture and flavor that makes food exciting for me. Would not recommend this place for a Michelin star restaurant experience. It was extremely underwhelming.
