Maddie's Diner is a small family-owned diner. It has been renovated it's cozy. The food is great I had the taco 🌮 omelet which was very yummy my hubby had the meat lovers 🍳 skillet. Their coffee is very good. Rarely I feel that diner coffees are good. Would keep going.
My daughter and I went around lunch time, but we still wanted breakfast. I had french toast, bacon, sausage and eggs. My daughter had pancakes, bacon and grits with cheese. The food was very good, not one complaint. I will definitely be back to try different food choices.
They have gluten free options but be sure to ask beforehand. Some of the items might seem gluten free at first but they aren't (breakfast bowl for example)
Went in for breakfast today and was very glad I did. The food was excellent!
The restaurant was clean, food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. For breakfast we had Irish skillet, eggs Benedict, breakfast tacos with Chorizo and the avocado toast with 2 eggs over easy. The avocado toast had fresh avocado. The food came quickly
Solid solid diner with a lovely staff and vibe. Very clean as well.
Wonderful breakfast and friendly people
Service was great pretty big spot first time going waitresses were friendly and welcoming
Great service and food was amazing
I truly enjoy this diner. With all of the diners in Middletown not all of them as friendly as the workers here. The food is good. Also they are the only diner that has grits which to me is a plus.
Haven't been here in 10 years. The place has really changed. So much bigger now! But still had that old Maddy's atmosphere. Great service and great food!
The food was very good. I wasn't a fan of the home fries besides that food was amazing. We tried the biscuits and gravy and grits. Wasn't disappointed.
Love Maddys. Always good food at reasonable prices. The waitress was very sweet with my 4 year old great grandson. All the staff are friendly!
Best breakfast place in Orange County you won’t regret it food is served very fast always nice and hot waiters are very nice and attentive love this place and highly recommend
Amazing food, great service. Always on point. Henry is an exceptional waiter and host. Pleasant and friendly. Would give 10 out of 10 stars if possible
What a delight! The food and the service were excellent. They have great gluten free options and were safe to eat if you have Celiacs. Highly recommend!
We were greeted when we walked in and a waiter was at our table getting drink orders within 5 minutes. Our order was great and the food delicious...will definitely be back!!
Great place to eat. The food and service are wonderful. Definitely recommend
Great place, food is fantastic, service is great, and the place is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Come here for great food!
The place is very clean, they practice social distancing. The food is always very good. The Staff are always helpful, fast and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend this place
Great food. Nice atmosphere friendly service. Must visit when in town.
Good food, great staff, and very reasonable prices!
Looking for a great diner then this is the place for you! Great place! Great food!
Being from out of town, this was exactly the experience I was hoping for when I read the name of the diner. Found myself surrounded by town regulars and enjoyed every minute of the vibe. Service and food was great.
Man, let me tell you about this place anytime I get a bonus at my job. I go there in the morning and I order the breakfast they primarily known for their breakfast so just this place is a breakfast spot just so you know.
Very nice local diner, looks and feels like a family run business. Great food, fast service, and overall feeling you are home
I attended a lunchen with fellow members of wakefern local 445. The dining room they gave as was perfect size. The service was great and the food was out of this world. We all had a great time. I am sure we will be back. I recommend going here.
This is a great casual diner, with wait staff that is friendly and knows you. No matter how busy they are, they always serve you coffee quickly. Breakfast is always good and they have a good lunch menu. They have plenty of seating inside. It is worth the trip!
Great service and good price
Maddys diner is a wonderful place to eat the waitress was so very nice making sure that we were satisfied with our meal service was above and beyond and the food was excellent Definitely will be back
What can I say about this place that hasn't been said. I found this place on Google maps and the reviews were correct. I love diners and this one was clean, great service awesome food at the right price and q friendly atmosphere. Defiently my new breakfast place when I stay in Middletown.
Go there for breakfast alot, great food. Great service. What else could you ask for.
We have breakfast at Maddy's at least once a month and it's always great. Like any good millenial--let me recommend the avocado toast. ;-)
We love Maddy's Diner! It is a Middletown institution! It's great for anyone from a small group to a single person, all are welcome. They have the friendly wait staff around. I go here regularly with a close friend of mine and we are never disappointed. I had the Western omelet. It was very good. I love the melty American cheese in the middle. Plus I get a serving of vegetables for breakfast. With this I had fresh fruit. I skipped the toast and home fries. Many times when I ask them not to bring me toast at restaurants, they do anyway out of habit. This is a huge challenge for me. I love toast with jelly with my breakfast. Them not bringing it helps me immensely. I am newly diabetic, and I don't need that temptation. Anyway, they always have the freshest fruit and it's always naturally sweet. When I have ordered it, there has always been cut up bananas, strawberries, and whole fresh blueberries. It looks great and is delicious. We go here regularly for numerous reasons. I can't imagine getting a bad meal here ever. Plus they have recently added what I would say is an ice cream and dessert bar. Not good for me, but others love it!
Very, very friendly staff, quick service, nice and clean. Told my boss about it, he went and picked up his lunch (we're 60 seconds away from them) and he raved about how nice they were and the good food!
I never have any complaints. Everything is always cooked the right way the first. They have great prices and friendly staff. If im not mistaken this diner has been here long enough to be considered historical. Did i mention they have very fast service.
We've gone here for 12 years now and we always enjoy our meals. Love the French toast breakfast sandwich
Good food, great price, and very clean...
Good food, the avocado toast was delicious. The waitress's attention was really good. The place looks clean and has more room in the back. Highly recommend.
Love the French toast. The Cinnabon is so good
This was a great find! We were tired from driving and running errands. We didn't know the area and chanced upon Maddy's diner. Upon arrival 50s music was playing. The place was clean the furniture was new and the service was extremely friendly. The food was outstanding 😀 I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area!
Maddy's food is great. It's the best kept secret. You don't want too many people to know about the place. Because the atmosphere is great as it is. Please, no change. Keep it just as IT is.
I went there on St. Patrick's day with my husband and 3 young kids. We wanted corned beef but didn't want to deal with large crowds. Someone had told me they were making corned beef and cabbage so we went to check it out. The food was great and the service was really good too. They have high chairs and kids cups- as well as a kids menu. Definitely check out Maddy's. They have really good breakfast too!
This diner is a favorite of mine for the many years I lived in Middletown and even when I come by to visit family I like stopping by here for breakfast. They have great coffee, delicious milkshakes and savory breakfast platters with good portions! Go see the Server Henry as he always takes care of us with prompt and fast service.
We had 9 people in our party. Friendly & took orders quickly. Not a long wait for Food & was hot upon arriving. My only suggestion is to put the condiments (ketchup, syrup, butter, cream etc) out before Food comes.
This is a first class vintage diner. Food is delicious with nice presentation. Service is everything the average customer could ask for. Very friendly & attentive.
My favorite are pancakes with blueberries and walnuts inside. I like that Real Maple Syrup is an option but you must request it else you get the fake stuff like at IHOP. There is a slight up charge for the real syrup but well worth it flavor and health wise. The restaurant is split in two. The 4 stars is for the smaller part up top. The bottom part 5 stars. The clean restrooms are a plus too.
I love going here for breakfast, the staff are always so polite.
What a fabulous place! Food was delicious, portions were generous and the service was spot on. I had the black and blue burger. The burger was juicy and had such great flavor. Just wow! My daughter had the french toast with a side of biscuits and gravy. Delicious!! My husband had the Reuben and it did not disappoint. My mother-in-law had the eggplant panini with a cup of New England clam chowder. She said it was the best soup she's ever had. Tons of clams and so tasty! We will definitely be back.
Little tough to get to on a Saturday morning but well worth it. Food was great and service wonderful as well. Just overall seems like a very positive and very diverse place!
The food was good service was good. Really good grits with cheese, it was top tier. This diner is a home to the locals. Being from New York City, I know good grits. The staff was warm and welcoming. One thing I appreciate is quality service. I wish I could speak to the food but I eat the same thing all the time.
Went today for the first time for lunch. The diner was spotless, food was fantastic, and the service was excellent!!!
We go to Maddy’s Every Sunday for breakfast…except for vacation and stuff. THE food is consistently Excellent as is the service. Perfect for a Family Sunday Breakfast or Brunch. I’ve seen parties of 10 seated w/o a long wait. QUALITY PEOPLE , Good Service too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s ALL ABOUT FAMILY
I visited while traveling. The food was delicious and well prices. The establishment has the kind of vibes that will make you feel at home anywhere in small town America.
Great place to grab a bite to eat!! Great friendly staff and the food is delicious!!
Muy lindo y buena atención
Buena comida
The service was fast and friendly. My food arrived very quickly. The burger was delicious! I was sad that waffle fries are no longer served here. The sweet potato fries were hot, but a little too soft for my taste and lacked salt.
Classic diner with a classic diner feel. Food is good, and they have specials daily. I like their selection and are dependable. You can bring a crowd or just for two.
Food is great and service is even better! Friendly and takes care of children from special courtesy wet naps to comfortable highchair, booster seats. Great family diner...
Was here only once but will definitely return. Prices are very good, waitress was very friendly and attended to my group well. Atmosphere was as is your usual diner yet I was still impressed with our service and order.
We often have breakfast or lunch at Maddy's diner. Always have a great time. The front part is a real diner with that kind of vibe. The back part is more of a restaurant dining room. The food is always good, the prices are very fair, and the service is always very friendly.
They just started offering gluten free bread, although depending on the waitress I'd caution those with Celiac to double check (one understood cross contamination from the fryer, another tried to give me a salad with croutons). Still very promising and I always enjoy giving them business - used to come here years ago as a kid to have breakfast with my grandmother.
This place has been here most of my life and has become a staple for real, American home-cooked food at a fair price. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between.. My best friend and I used to come here for deliciously crispy frenchfries smothered in mozzarella cheese and gravy after school, and now, over 20 years later im meeting my mother here for real eggs, bacon, home fries and toasted rye for breakfast before we head out to shop. Nothing has changed about the quality and love they put into their food, helpings are always more than enough and service is always done in a friendly manner. This place has truly made a name for itself and has become a well known landmark in Middletown.
It was nice to be able to eat outside for lunch. Social distancing was achieved through scattered tables under a tent. Waiters and waitresses all wore masks and gloves. Service with a smile and fresh air. What more can you ask for.
Great place for breakfast, friendly staff
It looks like a hole in the wall from outside. If I passed it along the highway, I probably wouldn't stop. That being said, it was cute inside, just like a little train car, but it actually had a whole other room. The food was fresh and delicious! I got an omelet, and my husband got a sandwich for lunch. We were traveling, but if I am ever up there again, it's guaranteed I will be back! Don't miss this one!
I've only had breakfast there, but the food is always good and reasonably priced. Service has always been excellent by all staff. They really make you feel welcome.
Food was good. Perfect portions. Shared breakfast tacos and french toast. Prompt and friendly service.
Comida americana estilo diner, sin pretensiones pero buena. Lo mejor, el servicio, el chico que nos atendió fue muy entusiasta y atento.
I recently visited Maddy’s Diner and had a decent experience overall. The parking situation is a bit of a hassle, which made it a bit difficult to get in. The customer service was alright, but it could definitely be improved. It feels like the staff has been there forever, and unfortunately, they seem to be more welcoming to regulars or people they know rather than newcomers. As for the food, the chicken and waffles were a bit underwhelming. It tasted more like a frozen chicken tender with a dusting of powdered sugar, which was a bit of a letdown. On the other hand, the steak and home fries were decent, though we did need to add a bit of salt and pepper to bring out the flavor. I was hoping for the home fries to be more on the crispy side, but they ended up a little soggy instead. If you're looking for a casual meal this is your spot. Overall there’s definitely room for improvement in both service and food quality.
The food was decent, the service was less than decent. I'm willing to go there again and give them another chance because everyone has an 'off' day
Very enjoyable experience...now... I can eat pretty much any place I want to.. That being said... I try to frequent the places where the person behind the counter has a little bit of a personality... As opposed to being one of the walking dead.
Once, my goto Diner had to erase my original review. they have definitely either changed cooks or owner or just simply changed the way they cook certain things. They use to have great homefries, now they serve you these chopped up small potatoes that you never know if they are coming out burnt.or cooked well not the same flavors as before, the new breakfast sausage links are horrible! Small and thin and over cooked. And definitely have gotten pricey. Now I have to drive to jersey for a decent diner, rt 17 Mahwah. I wish they wouldn't have change.
Would give it a higher rating/ review but Google reads 4pm it closes. Call at 2:47pm and they advised it was closed already. Lunch is barely over and they are closed before 3pm? Update Google!!!
Food fresh and well presented, although my rare burger was cooked nearly medium. Extra charge for using credit cards, which is evil already, but was not disclosed on any signage or the menu I was given, it came as a shock when I got my bill. Probably an illegal practice by not warning ahead of time, but I chose not to fight it. But I will not be returning. Prices acceptable but a tiny bit high.
So, I was in this morning for my usual, HEC no egg. Got the bill and it went up $2. Okay. Normally I'd pay with a $10. $6.xx to the owner/sandwich and $3.XX tip for the lady who took my order. I was settling up and thought to myself "$12 for a breakfast sandwich? Nope." I still paid my $10. Who lost money on that deal? The woman who comes in everyday to run your business and allow you to not be there to make even more money. Let's be honest. You raised the prices so what goes in your pocket doesn't change but the people making your money will make less all while earning $6.25/hr. I'm closer to another diner and their sandwichs are under $5 but their servers are scabby. Your sandwich is great and so are your employees. What's gonna happen now? The economy is getting worse and luxuries are going to slow down. I work in a luxury driven business and i already see the slow down. I'm not buying an $8.XX and leaving a $3.XX tip for a breakfast sandwich. I'm also not going to get one and leave a $1.27 tip. So, now I'll make them at home for half the price and no one gets money. Losing my business won't be a drop in the bucket for you but I'm not the only one cutting back. Ask your servers, they're probably already feeling the shift. It's brewing into a perfect storm where eventually your employees won't be able to afford to work for you. It's such a shame too. I've never seen anyone in there not working hard.
Bien. Un ambiente muy americano años 60 recuerdos 60/70. Buena atencion. Comida lo normal nadadel otro mundo.
Solo he visto el lugar se ve tranquilo.
I came here with my boyfriend from leaving his parents house just to get breakfast. It was small just as I expected. Really old school. The tea was good, the grits could have been cooked a lil more and my bf said the apple juice was watered down (I tasted it and thought it was ok). Food was cheap, our bill came up to almost $20 which wasn't bad compared to eating in the city. I left a $2 tip since I didn't have cash on me, felt kinda bad lol.
Way over priced for the food you receive. 2 small eggs , small amount of home fries and toast. No meat. For 9.00 Don't forget to add tax and 3% paying with card. And of course the tip. No morning specials and Coffee not included.
I'm taking time to review this place because as of late, when I call in my order for pick up, its NEVER correct. I spent $40 for two soup and salad combos, 2 Texas dogs with a side of onion rings and a grilled cheese alone without fries. They charged us for a large size onion ring and 2 full size salads. To boot, my soup was broth and noodles. No chicken, no vegetables. In total... according to the menu I should have spent 10 bucks less than that. For normal diner grade food. It's a shame because as a local who frequents this diner, the night shift has fallen off significantly. There was no reason to assume I wanted full size salads and on the menu it shows you can add onion rings for like 3.00. They took it upon themselves to give us more and when we questioned it, they blamed it on the owner raising prices. Not worth it at all!!!
Went in with my aunt and had breakfast. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. Hash browns had no flavor. Eggs were ok. Will never go back. And i live so close to it. But on the upside... Lots of ppl like it..
I was thinking what a quaint place it was when a Hispanic couple came in and the owner went on a political rant about building a wall so crime would fall. I came in for lunch not to hear any political opinions. Obviously she had an issue with Hispanic people because they were just having lunch and causing no issues. The food was ok and service could have been faster. Won't go back.
We went here for breakfast/lunch, and the good was average to below average. Everything was mildly overcooked and also lacked flavor. The server, on the other hand, was warm, enviting, and very attentive. Also, the price was above average for a diner in Orange County.
it's a shame, clean place. Food had no flavor, they charge you $2 extra for potatoes that had no flavor & $2 for toast saturated in butter. server 17 had no personality. not worth the money.
Old lady behind counter had no personality. Prices are extremely high 2 eggs. A small portion of home fries and toast for $9. That's crazy.
New to the Middletown area I just purchased 4 houses on linden Ave very familiar with upcoming black businesses Owner Salons and Barbar Shops. My son arrived in Mandy’s diner and he was stared at from the time he opened the door until the time he exited. Ording pancakes who doesn’t put syrup maybe napkins a fork butter something I called the guy who took my offer stated he was too busy my son said there was 5ppl in the diner in total. So u not busy to take black ppl money but you too busy not taken orders that u could place condiments in the bag worth 48$. My black ppl if they have a business in our neighborhood but don’t want to serve u one thing to do put they out of business!!!! Don’t go there don’t support them take ur money and go someplace else!!!!!
This was my favorite diner for a minute. Lately, I've had too many negative experiences with elderly waitresses who clearly do not want to be there. July 1 was the last straw when the waitress rudely informed us that we better not expect to hang out for a leisurely meal because they were closing soon. This was 55 minutes before the posted closing time. What an attitude.
Once a month I would order from here with with a group of disabled individuals that I care for until today when I went in before my group to use the bathroom before having my group come in so my co-worker could keep an eye on the group which can be difficult in our van while I relieved myself. The waitress waited maybe sixty seconds before banging on the door to the bathroom like I was an intruder. When I left the bathroom she ran up to me to make sure I knew the bathroom was for a customers and customers only which was extremely embarrassing in front of other patrons. The time was 2:45 on 12/16/22 with literally from what I could see one other table. I was so taken back because the waitress had waited on my numerous times before. She explained that the wait staff had to clean the bathroom so she has to police it apparently. Me and my monthly group will now be going to the Americana dinner from now on.
This place was horrible- I experienced horrible service today, I ask for some milk and the waiter completely forgot! My pancakes were undercooked and my Mom's Hashbrowns were burnt! My sister ask for no ham in her breakfast burrito and there it was.. covered in ham! The other waiter was talking with other costumers like nobody else was waiting for their food!! And when I asked for the milk, THE WAITER SAID THAT THE MILK FOR THE COFFEE WAS FOR ME, Like do you want me to drink it out the tin?!. Unacceptable, My mother asked for more tea, no tea. My sister asked for more coffee. No coffee. We ended up having better quicker service at the gas station across the street.
Total rip-off!! Visited this location on 01-18-24, and ordered one plain bagel w/cream-cheese, and one black coffee, which is their large, but in reality is small sized, and it came out to be $9.02 What an abuse.
9$ for a bowl of chicken soup that has a lot to be desired and 18.25 for a tuna melt has officially been my last visit
Yesterday, 12/31/24, I was shut out of the ladies room, due to an employee having a lengthy bowel movement. Couldn't go in there, afterwards, it smelled horrifically. Then I had a hair embedded in my omelet. The waitress couldn't care less, and the "manager" addressed me as "sweetie"...we are done, after being there often. The only thing I can say is that the one server, Ashley, who wasn't working yesterday, is a nice young lady. The other staff proceeded to chat, in Spanish. Well, I'm Portuguese and Irish...they need to adjust their attitudes, and remember that they are at work, not at home.
Looks nice and staff is friendly. However, the food is generic/lackluster compared to a stereotypical NY diner. Corned beef and hash had no seasoning, potatoes undercooked and they threw on a slice of american cheese. Over all, looked just like it tasted. Disappointing and a waste of money, save your tastbuds from a new York flavor crime and go to the deli down the street.
I can only speak for the breakfast I eat, which is scrambled eggs with home fries. It’s horrible. I ate there several times hoping things would improve. The home fries are squares and taste like plain boiled potatoes. No peppers or onions, no flavor. They just don’t taste good. I’m a vegetarian so I don’t have much to choose from. Staff is friendly but I won’t eat there anymore. I’ll go to Colonial Diner instead.
Terrible I had the Turkey Sandwich with Bacon also which is strange the menu says Turkey BLT which i thought was Turkey Bacon I feel like I was bamboozood
I came here last month it was great! but i can this time the home fries were literally sogged in oil , none of the food has taste … worst eggs i ever had .. what happened ! the best part of my meal was the BREAD 😩 this was so disappointing.
the service was horrible. The food was terrible and disgusting . The older lady that sits us was TERRIBLE to us. She was mean from the moment we sat down and we thought maybe she was having a terrible day so we let it go. When it came to pay, she already added a tip into our receipt and told my friend that it was because this is the third time we came and we didn’t tip. We tried to let her know this is outrageous second time coming and maybe she was mistaking us for someone else. She started telling us no Ï remember you guys you didn’t tip. We tried to tell her maybe you mistook us for someone else she kept accusing us of coming here three times and said you sat there and pointed at the wrong place. This time we didn’t tip because she was horrible to us. Never coming here again. Came to eat before a long day and got racially profiled instead and paid 40$
