Recensioni di Ratanà Milano
Superb! Our lunch at Ratana was the highlight of a week-long Milan dining adventure. Luckily, when walking past the restaurant before entering, we were able to meet owner and chef Cesare Battisti. He took the time to introduce himself while filming a food preparation video. Every dish in our meal was incredible, with the risotto the star of the afternoon. Since I am a connoisseur of risotto Milanese from living in the area for several years, we started with that, and it was absolutely superb. If anyone is listening, I wish I could know the recipe for the Ratana gremolata! You could sense there was great skill in the preparation, with noticeable quality in the rice grains (I’d presume carnaroli) and the amount of saffron pistils. A perfect risotto is much appreciated, since many lesser quality restaurants that cater to tourists short cut their risotto by using basic short grain rice and powdered saffron. Next - our pasta course had us tussling over each other’s plates deciding whether the “Tortellini con fonduta di lodigiano e aceto balsamico stravecchio” or “Gnocchi di patate piastrati e croccanti con ragù di vitello e lodigiano tipico” was better. The two were equally delicious, grateful we could try both. My compliments could easily continue through the entire meal. My only regret is that I did not order the “Cotechino brianzolo, purè di lenticchie e salsa verde,” which is a seasonal dish available for the Christmas holidays. Looking forward to our next visit. Observations: Making advance reservations is a must. Try often and don’t give up. Openings will surface. Have your server recommend a wine based on your meal. The wine list is too extensive, and they know the pairing. I understand that the cotoletta alla milanese is a silent specialty of the house that is not featured on the menu; however, it may be ordered with 2 days’ notice. A couple at a nearby table were served the cotolleto, and it looked as good as you could possibly find in Milan. Save room for dessert, and keep an eye out for what looks good as soon as you sit down at your table. Have an open dialogue with the staff on what desserts are being served to other guests.
It's rare for cuisine to live up to expectations, let alone exceed them, but Ratana accomplished it. The trout was sublime. The risotto was the greatest I've had anywhere—utterly perfect texture and balance between richness and brightness from the gremolata. The cutlet, with its simple potato/chicory/fried sage accompaniment, also could not have been better. My one minor nitpick: while I like the look of the wall of wine, I'd rather see the nicer bottles stored in a cooler place. That aside, I'd be happy if I could eat here once a week for the rest of my life.
I love this place! Cesare Battisti is an amazing chef. The service personnel were very nice and accommodating. I basically convinced my friends to plan a visit to Milan for which we drove 4hours and half, just to try the food here and we were all very satisfied. I would plan more visits to Ratanà in the future. I would highly recommend them.
Tasting menu and wine pairing was phenomenal, the risotto alla milanese will be on my mind for weeks to come. The vibe was modern and eclectic without being very pretentious and the staff was kind enough to give me menu details in English. Also you could spend a whole hour there just going through the wine list.
I had a reservation for one on September 12, 2025 at 2 PM. I showed up at 12:15 PM and the manager accommodate me and allow me to dine in for lunch at this time. I tried their tasty menu which included five dishes, the tasting menu dishes I received included as Pacho card, the famous risotto Milano, and a coffee/tiramisu dessert. The service was great, and the staff was very attentive and prompt brought the dishes in and cleared the table out as I finished in dying on the various options. I greatly enjoy this experience, and the restaurant itself had a very relaxed, laid-back vibe with an outdoor seating area in a verygreen area of Milan with a wonderful park nearby overall highly recommend this restaurant in the risotto. Milano was wonderful with great flavor great texture not to al dente.
We had the five-course tasting menu and it really showcased the best of the restaurant. The risotto Milanese was the standout — a classic taken to another level, and I could easily have had five more portions. Every dish was fresh and exciting, highlighting excellent produce. The wine pairing was spot on, the atmosphere cosy, and the wait staff attentive and genuinely welcoming. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.
We ordered beef carpaccio, seared trout fillet, Milanese meatballs, whipped cod with crispy polenta, risotto alla vecchia Milano, and ravioli with cottage cheese and figs for lunch. Some dishes were a little salty for our taste, but overall the quality was good and the service was friendly and attentive.
Holy moly. I don’t even know where to start with this outrageously amazing food. We decided to go with the tasting menu. It offers the perfect amount of food to have you leaving not overly full, but enough to have you sleep well tonight. Next the service. We had a reservation at opening, but as the night packed up, the service stayed amazing. With every dish, they brought it out and described everything in the plate. They gave you enough time to eat then let the food settle before bringing out the next dish. They give amazing recommendations and never let us down. The atmosphere was beautiful outside. Even though there is a park behind you, I found it quite peaceful listening to the little water running, the people around us, and the families at the park play around. Truthfully an amazing Italian restaurant!!
We recently dined at Ratanà and had a very enjoyable experience. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and relaxed comfort, making it an ideal setting for a refined yet informal meal. We started with a selection of antipasti that were beautifully presented and full of flavor—each bite showcasing the kitchen’s attention to seasonal ingredients and careful preparation. For the main course, we all chose risottos, which did not disappoint. Creamy, well-executed, and rich in taste, they reflected a deep respect for Milanese culinary tradition with a subtle contemporary twist. Service was courteous and professional throughout. Overall, Ratanà is a solid choice for anyone looking to experience high-quality Milanese cuisine in a welcoming and well-curated environment.
Great traditional cuisine in a modern elevated version enjoying in a very elegant restaurant full of Italian style and very helpful service! I was impressed by the cheese risotto and the slow cooked beef. Really flavourful! The dessert and our dessert wine were also great! I will definitely come back again next time I am in Milan!!!Great dinner choice to enjoy the Milanese flavours!!!
Oh boy this place was good. Highly recommend. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and the food was delicious. The risotto was perfect! Great vibes - this restaurant is located in a park. A lot of locals and cool neighborhood. We made reservations in advance. There is a cute outdoor area for when the weather is nice.
We had a lovely meal at Ratanà. The food was fresh and full of flavor and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Service was kind and the whole evening was very enjoyable. Would happily return.

Amazing meal! Service was outstanding, best meal we had in Milan. If you like meatballs, order them…delicious. Was nice to have more variety than the typical pizza/pasta menus.
The appetizers are indicated as sharing dishes which was an inconvenience for me as I was dining solo. The mushroom curry - Curry di fungi - while delicious, would have been enough. The roast chicken served on a chick pea purée - Pollo ficatum alla cacciatora - was disappointing. The chicken was overcooked and quite dry. The chick pea purée redeemed it somewhat. Interesting selection of wines by the glass and professional wine service.
We had dinner at Ratanà last Friday and overall it was a great experience. The beef carpaccio was absolutely delicious — fresh, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The saffron risotto with bone marrow was rich and flavourful, though a bit too heavy for my taste. The veal with tuna sauce was also very tasty, but the creamy tuna sauce made it slightly rich as well. A beautifully presented meal with a nice balance of tradition and creativity.
Great Atmosphere & Quality Ingredients, But Our Choices Missed the Mark We were really looking forward to dining at Ratana, especially since it’s a bit out of the way when staying in central Milan. The restaurant itself has a fantastic ambiance, but as we didn’t have a reservation, we had to sit on the terrace as it was fully booked inside. There’s no doubt about the high quality of the ingredients and the excellent service, but unfortunately, our choices didn’t quite hit the mark. The dishes we selected felt either too traditional or too modern for our tastes—though the dessert was absolutely delicious! It’s a shame, as the restaurant looks wonderful, and the quality is undeniable. Perhaps with different choices next time, we’d have a better experience!

Nice vibes, nice place. Food may be a little too rich or taste over seasoned and salty. Most of the dishes felt that way with the exception of the starter. Unfortunately, service was marred by one of the staff who was wearing two ringed earrings (there’s only one of them). He was clearly racist as we were asian. Too bad, could have been a better experience. Paid 200EUR for the lunch. Would gladly have paid that if not for the unfriendly waiter.
We were excited to try Ratana based on the reviews. Most of the dishes—such as the gnocchi, pasta, and beef goulash—were good, but the portions were larger than expected compared to other restauran…
