What a great space for a coffee shop. We only stopped in for a coffee and pastries on our way out of town. Would have loved to try the pizzas as they look great. The twice-baked chocolate croissant was phenomenal. Highly recommend
A local gem. Fantastic service, great decor, and really good food. Funny thing is that I visited there from Seattle and the 2 out of 3 coffee options they had were from Seattle roasters. Would definitely go back if I were in Missoula again.
Incredibly beautiful setting and the pork belly sandwich was the best I have ever had! My iced vanilla latte with Oat milk was the best one in Missoula!!
Great food, excellent service. We especially enjoyed the outdoor feel when the large patio doors are open.
Local source upscale food.. I have been many times for breakfast or brunch. Great beer selection, usually rare craft or premium import on offer, wide selection. Very open seating which can be a little noisy, but there are sound deadening panels high up in the main dining area which help. Other seating areas are cozier and there is outdoor table options in warm weather. Happy staff from what I have seen.
Classy, tasty, fresh food for the sophisticated pallette. Very impressive wine selection, house-made caesar dressing was incredible. Sasha was amazing as a server!
Our waitress was the kindest most attentive server I have ever experienced. She went what I consider above and beyond to make out visit as enjoyable as possible. The food was outstanding and environment fantastic.
Good vibe, large seating area. Sandwiches were the best I had in Missoula and close to university, highly recommend.
Some of the best food I've ever tasted in my whole life! You walk in and it's like suddenly you have been sent straight to Italy with this light and airy architecture yet warm atmosphere. It's absolutely perfect and I won't be able to visit Missoula without coming here again! Get the Gravlax if you want to try something new and wonderful 😍
My fav Sunday brunch spot! We can't ever decide what to get because we love it all! Crab benedict and pistachio waffles are up there though! We each order something different and share.
Nice looking place, good clean water, good menu options, on the pricey side. Although i just had soup it was very good!
Great spot for breakfast or lunch and the gelato was delicious too!
You got to try their Lamb Burger it was amazing! Great service and friendly staff! Will be back!
I visited this place during my road trip to Yellowstone National Park for a lunch break. I am going to give five stars to this place for food, service and interior decor. We ordered their latte, vegetarian sandwich, penne pasta with marinara, tomato soup, and minestrone soup. The vegetarian sandwich was flavorful. It had unique ingredients like green apples, asparagus, and arugula which I don't see in a sandwich very often. I totally devoured their soups, just brilliant. I think the only preparation which felt pretty average was the penne pasta, I have experienced better. They have a cool outdoor patio and a huge indoor space as well.
This is on my walk home from church so I like to stop for a pastry . I buy a different one each week and all delicious and even have unique ones. As we get further from COVID, there have been more choices. My favorite is their Almond Croissant but they’re always sold out. I may need to stop on the way to church😃 They have lovely salads and dinners so I’m looking forward to when they can expand their service.
Love their food, the venue, and the wonderful people who work there! They have this great outdoor area, but the inside room is just gorgeous. Their cooking is classy and experimental. Always enjoy being there.
Love cafe dolce for my coveted girls nights out. The wine list is always great and the food is worth every $ listed next to it. The servers are always kind and thoughtful- everything you want on an evening out.
Great atmosphere. The first place in Montana to thank us for masks and really take the pandemic seriously. Missoulians think it's nothing and they are going to get burned soon sadly. But staff were very nice and myself coming from years in fine dining, I got the sense that they are on top of it. Wish we had more time in town.
I had the lamb burger with goat cheese, which I was reluctant to share until I had a bite of my boyfriends pasta! High quality, fragrant tea was the perfect way to start the meal, but the friendly service and sweet smiles brightened my experience. Not only is the food here a 10/10, but the service and peaceful atmosphere is why I'm giving my experience 5 stars!
That Banh MI... A little bummed that the brunch menu is only available on the weekend but I get it. The lunch was worth waiting for. Love the tables outside. Friendly attentive staff, very helpful at the counter and reasonable wait times and communication. Beautiful building. Feels like you're there for tea.
Such an awesome atmosphere. The food was delicious and served quickly. Wonderful selection of teas and coffee. Service was amazing. We both wanted to sit and stay longer long after we were finished eating. Can't wait to go back!
This place is fantastic. I moved stateside from Europe 5 years ago and one of the things I've always missed is really good Italian food. Like, ACTUAL Italian food, not just noodles with queso. These guys deliver in a big way. I had the half board charcuterie which was amazing. Great selection of cheeses, meats, and pickles. The pasta I had was amazing. Staff were handling the new reality very well, with lots of well thought out house rules etc. I can't wait to go back and dine in many many times.
Fantastic place with great ambience and decor. Croissants are to die for, flaky and fluffy, just yum! Baguette is delicious, with a perfect crust and dough inside. And to top it all off, Ben and all staff were super nice. We also got to taste the ginger pastry, which was a winner. Coffee is excellent and nicely presented, just a great match for all the baked goodies. Thank you again!!
Fantastic food and friendly service. Three of us ate here and we all ordered different things. I had the breakfast sandwich, and my only regret was not ordering a second one for later. The minestrone soup was delicious and the other sandwiches were given high marks by my compadres. Will definitely be back next time we're in town.
Caffe Dulce is the best place on this planet. I go there every single day I'm in Missoula. Their coffee is the best I've ever had. The food is AMAZING. My sister claims the eggs are the best SHES EVER HAD! The whole atmosphere is absolutely to die for. I LOVE sitting out on the deck in the sun with a coffee. It's my happy place. And there is flowers everywhere and an umbrella if you don't want to sit in the sun! Plus sitting inside is good too! The whole building is absolutely perfect. THIS PLACE IS FIVE STAR MATERIAL.
Went for breakfast after a long night. Friendly service, good espresso drinks, and really good food. The fried egg sandwich and salmon gravlox were awesome. We sat out on the patio and it was really relaxing. Highly recommend.
Fabulous food and great takeout service!!! Yesterday afternoon I ordered the Roasted Vegetables with Thyme and the Short Rib Ragù Kit for our dinner. I cooked the ingredients at home and we had a perfect meal. Everything was measured and packed. It was a delight to put the meal together. Thank you Cafe Dolce for providing a wonderful “Stay-At-Home” experience.
Pros: top-quality food and coffee; beautiful, light-filled, and spacious; amazing beer and wine list. Cons: can be quite loud when full, music is often too loud and irritatingly bass-heavy. One of Missoula's true gems, but very reasonably priced compared to similar spots in town. Great throughout the day for almost anything you could want. Note that their service format changes depending on time of day: Dinner and Sunday brunch are seated with table service (plan on 10-30 minute wait times; a few tall tables are available during these times for walk-ups), while all other times are walk-up ordering and seat yourself.
We compare every fine dining experience we have to this shining emerald of deliciousness. Sad to have moved away! It's a tad expensive, but totally worth it. Lovely atmosphere, too. It's just a great place for a perfect casual breakfast or lunch, or a fancy dinner.
Not only a beautiful building interior , but very well prepared food. We had egg sandwiches pastries and good coffee. All of the sandwiches were on a very nice sourdough thin sliced bread with perfect eggs and avocado with bacon. We can’t wait to try this place for lunch and dinners. This is one of our must-stop locations whenever my friend and I pass through Missoula. Not only does it make us believe for a moment that we’ve stepped over into Tuscany , but we come here for the Lamb Burger!
Out of town and looking for a good restaurant. Absolutely not disappointed! Excellent Service- five star pasta, and a succulent steak. Kept the kitchen open to send us off with a mac and cheese. We will be back.
I was traveling and my hosts highly recommended Caffe Dolce. I had a salad and pizza. They were both phenomenal, and I'm very picky especially about salads. It was so good that I ended up going back before I left town. Also it has a nice airy ambiance.
The atmosphere is amazing here. Love the super high ceilings. The food is pretty good too
A high-end cafe serving delicious, light food that's as authentic Italian as Montana cuisine can get. Top-notch coffee, pastries, and lunch are the highlights of Caffe Dolce. A comfortable, pretty venue in a relatively nice part of town make this a good place to take anyone you want to impress. Of course, everything is very expensive - expect to pay twice as much as an average restaurant and get half as much food. Certainly, the food is gourmet, but it feels just a tad bit too expensive to justify more than a very occasional visit.
The food was really good here. The mimosa's are made with fresh squeezed OJ which is nice. Our party arrived shortly after it opened (we had a reservation) and I think the wait staff and kitchen staff were slammed as it took quite a while to take our order and a very long time for it to come out. We were there for over an hour with no food, nothing even to snack on which was tough because we were having brunch. Anyway, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and still recommend this place for brunch based on the quality of the food alone.
Classifying this restaurant is difficult. It is like a neighborhood restaurant in that the parking lot is smaller than the seating - street parking otherwise. The evening offering is like a fine restaurant. The breakfast and luncheon menu is much simpler. The food is always good. Pastries and gelato are also good. The outdoor seating is delightful, depending on the weather. Pricing is moderate.
Very few vegan options. Ambience is lovely. The food is also as delicious as it looks. Somewhat pricey, especially for dinner. And also long long waits on busy nights (for a table of 2 we had a combined wait from being seated to served of about 1 ½ hours). Too long in our opinion. Visit Dolce when it's less crowded for a quieter, more enjoyable experience.
This is a trendy place. Lunch is especially good, with several sandwiches that are notable. In summer, the Heritage BLT CANNOT be beat anywhere in this country. Best I've ever had. The portions are really just right. Can be a bit noisy inside. Parking is a challenge, so plan to park on a side street, or walk or bike. Dinner is good, but a bit pricey. My wife and I will walk on hot coals to get a chocolate mousse cake here.
Had dinner there on Friday. Wait staff ... exceptional. A little too dark and noisy for my taste. Ordered linguini and clams. Very sandy. I had never had to return a meal before. Had a different dish --- excellent. They compt the clams. Yes I'd go back again. Tuscan wine was delish!
I frequent this place for coffee, meet-ups, and business one-on-one meetings quite frequently. Great coffee 5-stars there. I'm also a 5-star on the lunch menu. It's a perfect lunch portions and an quite a healthy menu as well. My favorite lunch item is the cheese sandwich. Trust me it's awesome. The dinners are a bit over priced in my opinion and I have not been overly impressed. They are often complex dishes that seem to be trying to hard. Sometimes simplicity could be better than a million flavors. But, that being said, it's good food over all and I would recommend it to folks looking for a nice find dining dinner atmosphere in Missoula.
Used to be 5 stars. Got a new chef in 2016-2017, and removed several of the best items from the menu. Moved to a tapas style menu, so portions are overall quite a bit smaller now. Food tends to be too salty as well now. Still a lovely restaurant with a multitude of great options. Great outdoor seating in the summer.
One of my favorite cafes! Cafe Dolce needs to get back on its feet. After looking at their breakfast menu selections on their website, we discovered that they did not serve breakfast but offered some pastries and bagels as an option. Very limited lunch menu due to not enough staff as well. 😕
I went in for breakfast and after looking at the menu and deciding what to get I was told they didn't have it. Staff was not good about suggesting alternatives and we're distracted when I was talking to them. The girl taking my order turned from me and talked to other staff and then another customer, so I felt like I just wasn't really too important to me. Got a drip coffee that the girl knew nothing about and got no refill, although it coat me a couple bucks. Food was ok. Don't know that I'll return. Better places with better customer service than here.
All the dishes we ordered were incredibly salty. The food looked pretty, had special ingredients. The waitstaff were professional. The building itself had a really nice feel inside with very high ceilings, and big windows. But, the food was so salty as to be almost inedible. (Spring 2017)
This place is beautiful. My first time there and honestly, my last. I went to lunch with a friend, ordered before her and got a simple, not grilled sandwich and soup. She got a grilled chicken sandwich and soup. Her food got to our table and I waited thinking mine would soon follow. After a few minutes I asked someone to check. She was not friendly about it at all and told me several of those orders were being made and they were backed up. It was a BLT. Her answer was completely unacceptable. After another few minutes someone came out with my soup and tried to give it to my friend. That already had her while lunch sitting in front of her. Then after another few minutes my sandwich finally arrived. I could tell it had been hastily thrown together. The soup was good. The sandwich was mediocre. The service was seriously lacking. And for a $15 lunch, I really expected more. Not impressed.
I had this at 5 stars years back but I showed up today and it was super disappointing. Menu is just weird now. Used to have soups and biscotti, now it's effectively sloppy joe and pizza. Coffee and environment is generally the same, save for how the building used to be packed every brunch I attended. It was sparse today... Not good. Don't see there being a recovery as long as pizza and sloppy joe's for brunch are the new standard. But hey, maybe that's the new style of Cafe Dolce and I need to move on. Edit: Turns out they're closing regular service from today on. Fascinating. Also heard through the grape vine they conveniently lost a lot of their great workers that really made this place shine. Such a shame to restructure when you already had the right recipe for success and not properly support the staff who really helped you get where you are. I'll be tucking this place in my mental memory box and it is probably staying there, untainted by Caffe Pizza.
Say it ain't so! I used to have lunch here with my mom. We'd order the House Salad and Soup combo. It was a great deal and was always delicious. I recently took a friend there for lunch. It was quite a bit more expensive than I remembered, but so is everything else. The sad part was - my salad had some thin, green matchsticks on top, with some white sprinkles over the top. I finally realized they were the pears and feta cheese in miniature. I dug around and found a few candied nuts. So, with a sigh, I turned to the soup. Meh. I think I got carpal tunnel from grinding so much salt and pepper on it in a gallant attempt to give it more flavor. I was also disappointed in their credit card reader that was set to automatically give a15% tip. Granted, I should have caught that before signing. My bad. But, considering I had to wait in line at the counter to order, clean our table off, get us water (and refills), napkins, utensils, butter, and the soup-saving salt and pepper shaker, 15% seemed excessive. But the bread was good, so there's that.
We hadn't eaten there in a year. It had always been good in the past. My dinner was so salty I couldn't finish it. The top item on the menu was already sold out and we ate 6pm. All other diners in our party were unimpressed with their dinners and had always loved the food before. before. They must have gotten as new chef. Probably won't go back.
Every time I go there they are out of what I order. If you dont show up ten minutes after they open, they're out. Employees are pretentious hipster teenagers. The food is amazing but it's too bad they never have any. The place is just too much a pain in the butt. I suggest one of the dozens of other trendy little cafes Missoula has to offer such as catalyst.
The wine list was awful, limited and overpriced, the main dining room was loud, cold and cafeteria-like, and we were all but ignored by our server. The menu was completely unoriginal and lacked any attempt at incorporating any sense of seasonality. The food was decent enough, but absolutely not worth the price.
