Great food and fast competent service! Pleasure to pickup and takeout! Good website for ordering. Friendly staff! Recommend highly.
I had heard about Lord Empanadas on TV and through a number of friends. I got a half dozen order of miscellaneous flavors and they were done to perfection. I can't wait to go there again.
This is my son's favorite breakfast spot. Always asks to stop by for a pizza empanada. Everything is great. From the empanadas to the sandwiches. Highly recommend this spot!
Loved our food so much! Everything we've tried has been amazing. Can't wait to order again.
I recently visited this restaurant during a trip from Scotland, and it came highly recommended by family—and it did not disappoint! The empanadas were absolutely delicious, both as appetizers and in the mains and dessert. The decor is cute and cosy, creating a lovely atmosphere for a meal. What really stood out, though, was the service—outstanding from start to finish. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. And the chimichurri sauce? Phenomenal! It was hands down the best I’ve ever tried. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fantastic food and a great dining experience.
This is a must stop spot to eat! The empanadas are delicious, and the crispy fries never disappoint. Try a sandwich as they are all yummy! Parking is the absolute worst, so don’t expect to park at the small lot. You have to park across the street or in the neighborhood and walk but it is worth every step!
My husband and I have been coming here for the past few years. We make our way out of San Bernardino County just to come here for their breakfast empanadas. The salsa and chimichurri are so good. Nothing beats Lord Empanada. The empanadas are soooo good! Can’t skip on the spicy black bean empanada.
Ordered takeout. Food was great and so was staff.
My wife and I finally made it here after driving by for so long. We really enjoyed the nice service we had and I particularly like the mushroom empanada and of course for desserts and apple pie empanada. The only criticism is the lack of parking. It seems like there's just five spots, we didn't have a problem but I could see it easily filling up.
Next best thing to homemade. My go-to comfort food. And I appreciate their excellent customer service. 100% accuracy on all of my orders. Love it!
Love this place! Handmade empanadas and great people!
Absolutely delicious. Always made fresh, I always get the beef empanadas, just recently tried the breakfast empanadas and the chorizo was my favorite. Great hole in the wall. If you drive too fast you will miss it. Parking is a bit tricky. I've been coming for some time now and food and service is very consistent. Congratulations on your 2 yr anniversary Lord Empanada!
I've had this spot bookmarked since it's opening, and we finally got to try it this past weekend. It was so good. We're looking forward to going back soon to try more empanadas. The service was also great. They were happy to have newcomers to the restaurant. Parking is a little tricky, but it's worth the little walk if you don't find space in the tiny driveway.
Ordered ahead and came for pick up. It was ready ahead of schedule and was delicious as always!!! My favorite is the spicy black bean. Yum!
Please, never change!!! The empanadas are absolutely perfect. The best in all of CA.
Love the food. Love the people. Great prices. My favorite place to eat.
My first time here. I've lived here for about a year, and this place has been on my list. I knew I wasn't going to regret it! The dough itself, is so flaky and buttery!!! So delicious! The red salsa is spicy and flavorful! The chimichurri is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! You can taste all the fresh herbs. I AM COMING BACK!!!! Thank you to the establishment for good service and great food
Absolutely love this place. Never disappoints. Great prices for consistently delicious food.
Picked up on a Saturday at Noon. The restaurant was busy, but the kitchen staff were working hard to get the orders out. I purchased 3 empanada's to go (beef, chicken, and spicy asada). All 3 were good, but I really enjoyed the spicy asada with the provided red sauce.
The empanadas were so delicious. Definitely will be going back.
Amazing food!! Tried the beef, chicken, chorizo, and pizza empanadas. The beef and chicken are def the ones you must try! Not a huge fan of the chorizo and pizza but will try one once in a while. The dining area is not as big so I feel other parties are a little too close to each other which is not really my cup of tea.
Brought empanadas for my coworkers to try. They loved them and the Chimichurri. Will be back to buy a jar for myself and then
Oh man such a great spot. Came up to Monrovia to pick up an offerup item and looked up places to eat and this place caught my eye. Walked in to the little restaurant with a small but beautiful setting. The staff were so nice. The menu looked like it was written in chalk (that’s how you know they like trying new things and experimenting) and there was a lot of options and was really easy to read. We got a few empanadas and the tri tip sandwich. The food is excellent. The staff is excellent. One of the best spots I’ve been to in a while. Thank you.
Great food and service! Their empanadas are delicious and chimichurri is the absolute best!! Definitely something different than the normal burger or sandwich.
I cater from LE often. I enjoy their variety of food. Everything is fresh and absolutely amazing!
Truly a favorite. They have the best empanadas, they are both crispy and soft. I appreciate that they have multiple vegan and vegetarian options! Every time I introduce their empanadas to someone new, they’re never disappointed!
The food was great! Wish you could make gluten free versions. We got them because we’re studying North and South American countries.
I ordered empanadas for a family party. They were delicious and everyone loved them. My order was ready of time. I would definitely order with again.
I hit this place hungry and destroyed 5 empanadas before thinking about taking a photo so you get the aftermath instead. Anyways, made the drive out to Monrovia from Santa Monica to eat these well reviewed empanadas. We ordered almost one of everything and loved them all including the apple pie for desert. Our favorite was the birria but I doubt you’ll go wrong with any of them. The birria also came with consommé that I dipped everything in short of desert. Definitely glad we made the drive!
Lord Empanada is such a good local spot in Monrovia! The empanadas are always fresh, flavorful, and made with care. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite or pick up something delicious for a small gathering. The staff is friendly and the vibe is super welcoming. Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area!
I ordered 2 dozen empanadas for Super Bowl Sunday & as always they were a hit. Lorde Empanadas never disappoints!
Ordered food for a business meeting, got the food on time and the team loved the food . I just got a bunch of Empanadas as well, you know, they are the lord of them.
First time trying this restaurant. We used to drive by it frequently until we decided to finally try it. The food is fresh and very tasty, the staff friendly & knowledgeable about their menu. I tried the Choripan and birria empanada with consome and was happy they had Topo Chico!! My favorite mineral water. My husband and I will become regulars for sure I want to try their whole menu😋 I highly recommend Lord Empanada!!!
Empanadas were so delicious! They traveled well too. Still crispy and warm 😍
So, I had to take a job that I didn't particularly like. But the type of job I had caused me to pass by this place daily but I wasn't able to stop and have a meal here. So I vowed that the day I quit this job, I was going to drop in for some empanadas and maaaan was I pleased 😊😋 My daughter also feel in love. They had plenty of GOOD options and the staff was very informative. I especially liked all the cute notes describing what was in each container. ❤️ We will definitely be taking that drive from Cerritos, ALOT, to grab some more orders
Delicious empanadas and sandwiches! I’m not Argentinian, but the food tasted great to me! I tried the birria, spinach and cheese, black bean, and bacon breakfast empanadas. My favorites were unexpectedly the spinach and the bacon ones. I also tried the tri tip sandwich and the porchetta sandwich, though I like their empanadas better. The side salad was ok, and the fries were good. Overall, great place to try and I highly recommend their empanadas.
Been wanting to go try this place out and was finally able to go. It was definitely worth the trip. The empanadas are not that big and I recommend at least 3 per person. Between my wife, son and myself we had 10 empanadas (including the dessert ones) and a sandwich with fries. There are about 8 booths to eat there. The only thing is the parking is limited and I wish they had an A/C instead of a swamp cooler.
Man o’ man. This place is no joke. Super nice folks, INCREDIBLE empañadas: Fluffy dough and scalding hot, they’re nice and big, the asada and the Al pastor were delicious. The salsas are tremendous as well. At $3.75 a piece as of April 2023, it’s a delicious inexpensive lunch - I recommend 2 or 3 and you’ll be full and satisfied! Worth the trip.
The empanadas are delicious. We had beef, chicken, spinach and cheese, spicy black bean and Birria. The sandwich’s are pretty tasty too. They make a secret sauce you can purchase too. I’ve been a coupe of times it’s always clean and the staff is really nice and helpful. Ten out of ten would totally recommend.
Best Empanadas we’ve had in a while. We got the beef, breakfast, birria, spinach & cheese, and the spicy bean. All were freshly made and delicious. The restaurant looks great and would be a nice place to sit down and eat. The only issue I can imagine is parking. Very small parking area, but street parking is around the corner. New favorite spot
Got to Lord Empanadas around 7pm. I was afraid they'd have a limited selection so close to closing but they had everything we wanted. Great service, the lovely cashier was warm and welcoming and gave recommendations for items on their menu. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Empanadas were crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. Would come back for their fries, sandwiches and beer selection.
After we finished with breakfast and shopping around I told my wife I wanna go to Lord Empanadas not that far away where we are and then we headed to get some delicious empanadas. My wife and I enjoy empanadas very much we try different style of empanadas from Mexico,Argentina, etc. The empanadas has expanded in many ways that have become very popular especially Argentina empanadas if you like bake or fried everybody has their favorite empanadas. When arrive at the restaurant the parking lot is very small then we step in we notice the restaurant is very small and there's a long line for ordering empanadas and there's a waited to get a table. When we were front in line the cashier was telling there's a 30 to 45 minutes waited because there's were so order then we decided to waited. We order chicken, beef,al pastor and others flavors. The empanadas cost $3.75 each if you like a dozen it's $41 a dozen. Our was ready we the empanadas were very warm fresh from the oven. They were very light and fully of flavors in the empanadas. We wer were eating the empanadas in the car if we take them they've ill be cold. Be sure make phone order it's going to take awhile if you want eat at the restaurant come early.
I gotta say this place is one of the best places I have had in a long time. We found this randomly looking for places to eat on Google maps. So glad we came here. Really nice and chill atmosphere. I love the vibe. The workers are really friendly and have great attitudes. Very helpful as well. Everything we tried was great. We had Birria, beef, mushroom and spicy black bean empanadas. All were great. We also got the Choripan which is an Argentine Sausage with a side of fries that was really good. They also have great sauces and salsa. We tried the Chimichurri, red salsa, spicy chimichurri and the consume for the Birria. Overall 10 out 10 for the experience and the food. They also have a small selection of craft beers available. We are definitely coming back very soon.
I travel a lot and I think these are probably the best empanadas I’ve ever had. I tried 5 different savory ones and 2 different sweet ones. They were ALL amazing. My favorite were the al pastor and the birria. Both sweet ones were good but the cheesecake was beyond. For all of them the crust is think, crispy and flaky. Do not sleep on this place!!
We had the Porchetta and the choripan. Both sandwiches are pretty good. The flan was delicious. The birria empanada is my favorite . The chicken empanada didn't have much flavor but it wasn't that bad. They sell wine and local beers. Overall, cool place and good customer service. I'll definitely be back for more.
WOW! I tried almost all of their "classic" empanadas (beef, chicken, chorizo, mushroom, birria, pizza...). They come out, piping hot and adorable, in two lines of labeled parchment paper so you can know which one you're biting into. They come with chimichrri, which is a wonderful touch. They. Were. All. Delicious. Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of empanadas. These were different. The dough was crunchy, the fillings were generous and tender, and the flavors were incredibly savory and creative! For $3.75!! If you get the chance, check out their dessert empanadas too! The apple pie is like a mcdonalds apple pie on steroids. Usually, I'm all in on meat fillings, but the mushroom empanada blew my mind today. I'll definitely be back with the rest of my family!
Amazing Food, Good Service, Can’t WAIT to be back! Their empanadas are ridiculously good and their service staff are friendly and helpful! Cooks in the kitchen workin HARD! I got their breakfast sandwich with bacon, eggs and cheese, with fries, thinking it would be small. Oh no. It was HUGE, delicious and VERY filling! I couldn’t finish their delicious fries. They also have a lot of amazing dips for their empanadas as well. Very tasty and the flavor is out of this world. Dining area is very tranquil and intimate, very nice coffee house kind of vibe to it, without the loud music. Great place to grab a bite!
Every empanada we tried was absolutely delicious!!! Shell was perfectly flaky and fillings were unique and tasty! Can’t wait to come back
Second time ordering empanadas for a family party. Everyone loved them and no leftovers were proof enough for me. My favorite is black bean and I’m not usually a fan of black beans. So delicious, I might have to go again this week.
I heard great things about the empanadas from other yelpers and finally got to try them this past weekend! We started with five and devoured them so fast, we ordered 6 more just to try all the flavors. The inside of the restaurant was pretty small and cozy, with just 5 booths. There's an outside patio area that they had set up that day to host their 3 year anniversary party. You order at the counter and they bring out the empanadas right out of the fryer pipping hot. Ranking from the best tasting IMO: 1. Birria - the most juicy and flavorful! Dipped in consummé, the perfect bite! 2. Beef - very authentic Argentinian, great with the chimichurri 3. Pizza - like a mini deep fried calzone 4. Bacon breakfast - little bits of scrambled eggs, bacon, potato, and cheese 5. Mushroom - great for mushroom and cheese lovers 6. Soy chorizo - vegan cheese was surprisingly cheesy 7. Spinach - was okay 8. Black bean - a bit spicy The chimichurri sauce and spicy chimichuri sauce were so good with the empanadas. We will definitely be back
Picked this spot off Metro as a new place to try for dinner. Loved all the empanadas I had, especially the beef, birria, and chorizo breakfast ones, as well as the beer I had. It seemed to me like this is a well known local spot, as many people were stopping by for dinner or snacks. I also liked the little flowery ornaments at the tables. Looking forward to trying their sandwiches during another visit in this area.
Super satisfying Argentinian food that is packed with flavor and value. The empanadas are perfectly made, hot and crispy and filled with tender meat. The sandwiches are generous with the meat and delicious. You order at the counter and the friendly staff bring the food out. Limited parking lot but there is nearby street parking.
We ventured out to this quaint little restaurant in the Pasadena area to get some Argentinian food. I was very satisfied with the steak and Milanese sandwiches, they reminded me of my trip to Argentina. The empanadas were also filling and flavorful, I overall had a great experience and I would definitely come back.
I ordered the birria queso and spicy asada empanadas they were so 🔥 and I also got the grilled chicken club and the al caballo beef milanesa sandwich both were so good also but the chicken club was 10 out of 10
First time trying empanadas, they were very good!! But I felt like they are “American Stlye” not really like traditional empanadas.
I really love this place. Lord Empanada has quickly become one of my go-to spots, and I’ve been telling all my friends and family about it. The empanadas are incredible—crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked inside, and packed with flavor. The meat isn’t overcooked or soggy, it’s not drowning in sauce, and even the dipping oil they craft makes everything taste like perfection. The variety is amazing, and they just launched an Ube flavor that they completely knocked out of the park. Added bonus is the desserts— obsessed with their bread pudding Some of the best I’ve had anywhere. You can tell everything is made with so much love and care. I highly recommend!
Lord Empanada is like one of those hole in a wall places that you need to know about. I say hole in the wall, because this place is a little hidden and I drove past it. The parking lot was small so you do need to find parking. There was a sign saying you can park across the street as well. Everyone I talked to was nice. The cashier I spoke with is approachable and fun to talk to. She was able to help me answer all my questions and provide recommendations. She knew her stuff. By the way, I loved the recommendations. I got the beef (the Empanada that started it all for Lord Empanada), birria (another recommendation), and an apple pie. The beef and the birria that were recommended were so delicious! The meat was tender, and they didn't skimp on the fillings. The chimichurri sauces that came with it were so good. I'd definitely buy it the next time I'm there. It tasted like it was infused with garlic and herbs. yum! The apple pie was ok and not a favorite. I should have gone savory instead of sweet. But my friend did compare it to tasting like a McDonald's apple pie, so it wasn't bad tasting. Just not for me. Overall, I will definitely come back if I'm in the area. Another one to add to the books. Come check them out! I didn't dine in and did take out. It's still delicious, even when I ate it later.
I'm so glad I choose Lord Empanada to cater my event. I had to feed 30 people so I ordered 60 empanadas. Two each of full size was perfect. I made a salad as a side. I purchased: chicken, birria, pizza, spinach, and mushroom. Everyone tasted great! I sampled the spicy asada and that too was yummy. Each flavor came in their own box which made it easy for setup. They boxed the salsa and chimichurri separately. The restaurant was clean. My order was ready on time. The staff was so helpful when I was there ordering and asking questions. I am so pleased with them. Will definitely use them for future catering.
I've had many empanadas before, and I can attest that LORD EMPANADA is among the best. Convenient located at the Myrtle exit on the 210 freeway in Monrovia, this Argentine joint always hits the spot for a quick empanada fix. You won't regret ordering their SPICY EMPANADAS.

Lord Empanada has great empanadas and is vegan friendly. The vegan options are flavorful and filling, and the chimichurri sauce is especially good. On top of that, the customer service is wonderful, with friendly and helpful staff that make the experience even better.
This has been on my bookmarks for a while so when the new metro station opened up near me, I decided to try this place. It's a block away from the Monrovia station on the LA metro A line. The parking lot is small and they have a few tables inside. I decided to try a dozen empanadas, half chicken and half beef for my family and I to try. I also got their nutella banana and apple pie dulce de leche empanada desserts for myself. The wait time was not long and it was packaged securely. The pizza box that contained the dozen empanadas plus the chimichurri sauce containers was taped shut. The desserts were in a bag and it leaked a bit during the subway line back home. They gave around 5 regular chimichurri and 5 spicy sauces for the dozen. My family and I prefer the beef empanadas than the chicken which were a bit too try. The filling was seasoned nicely and they didn't skimp on the filling. The desserts were sweet and I did like the apple pie empanada, than the nutella banana.
I have been coming here for well over a year now. These flavors are unlike anything I've ever had. I bought myself a jar of their chimichurri because it's just that good and there's a lot of different dishes I'd love to try it with. They are amazing at what they do. And I will never enjoy other empanadas thanks to these guys

Fun experience but a crazy busy place due to the recent PR. I liked how they presented the empanadas with their names written next to them so you knew which was which. The dough of the empanada was great and not greasy at all. The fillings were okay but I think I needed to eat more than just empanadas for dinner (kind of got bored). My favorites were the dessert empanadas - the chocolate banana and the raspberry cheesecake - YUM! They were out of the apple pie but I would go back to try it. May be best to order ahead for pick up (seems like lots of people do that) as the seating is limited and the place is small. Cute find. Give it a try!
Food was fresh hot and delicious. Unfortunately it’s was so hot. We all were sweating the whole time we were dining there. They only have one window AC unit on the opposite side where customers sit. Customer service was in point.
The owner is half Argentinian and has all sorts of empanadas to pick from. I ended up getting their beef, spring roll, birria, spinach, chicken Alfredo, and apple pie empanadas. All the empanadas had a bready, slightly crisp, yummy fried flavored shell. Usually I don’t like beef empanadas cuz I think they’re spiced weird but this one was actually good, savory, and comforting. The spring roll one was eh. Large pieces of crunchy cabbage. Would’ve liked them to be shredded a bit finer. The birria one was filled with that yummy shredded beef that was a bit dry but the side of consume saved it. The spinach one sounds like it would be boring but BOY WAS IT NOT. Super flavorful and herby in the best way. The chicken Alfredo one was also really good and filled with those big chunks of savory chicken. Each one paired really well with their made in house chimmichuri which added a nice little bright herbyness to everything. Pro tip add some of the hot sauce with their chimmichur on an empanada and MNM. For dessert we had their apple pie empanada which had a cinnamon sugar coating that made it taste like a churro and it was filled with their tender, caramelized apples. Overall this place is pretty good.
Had an opportunity to check out this place for different types of empanadas. It’s a cute little deli shop with a dozen or so parking spaces. There is parking along the side street. Or see at the counter with different combinations of empanada’s filling. We ordered the Birria & queso, the house special beef, which had embroiled egg and potatoes and the spicy beef. They were so good especially the Birria n queso along with the salsas and chimichuri sauce. They were so consumé dipping sauce was a bit too lite compared to other places. Plenty of tables to dine in but it takes about 20 minutes or so to get the food. Call ahead to save time. Go order some and support local business.
Was craving for empanadas the other day and saw Lord Empanadas in Monrovia. Decided to give it a try, it is a little pricey, $3.50 per piece, 1 dozen for $36. At first, I didn't see the price for 1 dozen, so I bought 8 empanadas which cost $36, I wished the lady at the cashier told me about the dozen special. I went back 2 days later to get 1 dozen, 3 beef, 3 chicken, 2 pizza, 2 sausage and 2 bacon. The reason I went back was because my wife and son wanted more, they loved it very much. The beef and chicken empanadas are very good, a great mixture of spices and flavor. Pizza is pretty normal which my son loved. The breakfast sausage and bacon are great too. Overall, great empanadas w/ excellent outer crust, however, in my opinion the fillings are too little.

Love their empanadas! There's so many to choose from, ranging with sweet to savory. Been here twice (it's been hard getting here before their 7:30 pm closing time for me), and each time I've tried something different and ordered their dozen empanada deals. A single empanada is $3.95 ($3.75 when I had first drafted this review) and a dozen for $42 ($41 before). For savory, I've tried the beef (fair warning - there's olives in there =/), chicken, spinach and cheese, birria, spicy asada, al pastor, and chicken fajita. For sweet, I've ordered the apple pie and Nutella. Absolute favorites were the birria, spicy asada, spinach and cheese, and apple pie. We've also tried some of their other menu items, like the stroganoff ($20) and the gaucho burger with fries ($16), and enjoyed both of those too. For dining in, it's best to be a group of 4 or less to get a table. Otherwise, grab your food to go for home enjoyment. Parking right outside Lord Empanada is few and small, so make sure to park at the lot that's at the southwest end of Myrtle Ave and Pomona Ave. Plenty of space and spots there and a very easy minute walk to Lord Empanada!

It was a solid made empanada and I got the chicken, the pizza and the spicy bean. But I'm not a good person to judge because most empanadas are the same, a thick somewhat flaky outside with ok filling. My favorite empanada was from a place at the Irvine farmers market where the tasty juice always squirted out from pastry. Still looking.
The food was delicious! We ordered empanadas de spicy beans, spinach and cheese, carne asada, and pizza. My 2 year old really loves the pizza one. The sauces are also a great addition to the empanadas. We also got a Tri tip sandwich. It is a bit small in here so seating can be a bit tricky to get and the restrooms are outside the building and very small. Parking is also a bit tricky because there is no actual assigned parking for this location.
The empanadas were ok. The best was the spinach, the worse the chicken with no flavor and smelled like boiled chicken, meat was ok. The milanesa sandwich was also ok. With Argentinian family and being in Argentina many times, I was not very impressed. Service was fast.

We are from Argentina and know what is authentic. This is not it. The milanesa sandwich especially was terrible! The meat was fried till almost black. The place is not staffed by Argentines either. Also way too expensive for what we got. There are better places to eat if you want Argentine food.
Food is good it will make a big difference if cashier has a more positive attitude. It was my first time here just wanted a little more welcomingReally bad attitude // not friendly Not having a good day // seems like don’t like to work at Christmas time// understandable please change the cashier not looking good first time & last time coming

Recommended to try this place and I ordered 1 beef empanada. When I received it to my surprise it was the size of a golf ball! I thought it had to be a mistake, but I didn't want to complain and just ate it. The filling was ok , it had to much onion.(still upset about the golf ball size). The Chimi was good. As I was leaving i decides on a Chori and it was real heavy toasted with butter. I told the lady I only wanted Chimi. Anyways I hope the person that fried my Empanada will know that it was not cool to serve me a golf size empanada especially after the cashier showed me the size in which they look. Won't be back.
