Phenomenal Java Spot… this is the what LA + COFFEE should equal! Have some of the best brew in the Balcony of So Cal in this Mountain Rose of a town.

This is the benchmark of a superior coffee house: smart inviting open bright thoughtfully designed space, approachable and present service, excellent coffee and espresso programs as well as a stellar house made chai plus their pastries and insanely tasty GooeyCenter cinnamon rolls make this an enviable spot for locals and a definite destination spot to visit often.

5/5 best place for coffee. They do everything right from the beans they use to taking their time to make a proper cappuccino, latte, you name it. Everyone that works here is so friendly and the dry cleaners turned coffee hang vibes is just fun all around.

Stopped by the new retro-vintage coffee shop in town. We were greeted by one of the owners, as we admired how well they restored the former "Regal Cleaners" building to it's former glory. They added garden area where you can sit and enjoy a beverage. We were offered a complimentary coffee and orange juice during their soft opening. She explained that they will soon be adding food items to the menu. I recommend stopping by and giving them a try. I will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu.

This place is has a super cool laid back vibe and the coffee is great. Favorite pastry is the ham and cheese croissant. The owner, Michelle, is really nice and always around to chat and make sure you’re enjoying yourself. 10/10 would recommend. Love supporting a local business like this

I'll tell you how's it going to end... With a great cup off coffee from this place! The owner, manager and the crew are amazing. If you know Food & Beverage, you know that you just can't build a place like this from day one. It takes years and years of working front of the house, back of the house and owning a business to understand a place of such caliber and detail. The baristas are all kind, friendly and professional, The architecture is absolute mid century perfection that opens up into a stone garden / landscape that's sublime in the morning when sipping on your drink. The coffee is sourced from some of the best producers in the industry. I usually drink an Americano that tastes like coffee, chocolate and fruits but I've had their drip and it goes down like a fine tea, Very well balanced. Also do not skip out on their decaf. It's damn good! Glad HIGTE is my morning place...

I love this coffee shoppe. I almost don’t want to post about it cause it feels like a little magic gem I want to keep all to myself. I complained for almost a year about not having a good coffee spot in my hood after being so spoiled in the DTLA arts district for so long. And sometimes you just gotta wish things into existence and lo and behold HIGTE was given to us!!!!

I work in La Cañada, so when I saw this pop-up on Google maps I just had to try it (especially once I saw photos of the cinnamon rolls😋). I absolutely love the reuse of the old regal dry cleaning building (which I believe is landmarked), as it gives the interior a display of mid-century modern rarely seen in coffee shops in the LA basin. Between that and the low desert vegetation and landscaping, it can feel like you’re relaxing at a Neutra, Wexler or Frey house somewhere out in Palm Springs. It’s a nice departure from the brick walls, high ceilings & exposed trusses/ductwork now typical in modern coffee shops. That being said, at some point they really should update the signage to the store name to avoid confusion. As others have noted, the food can be somewhat expensive, but honestly it’s pretty par for the course for what you can expect to find at trendy cafés in higher income areas across LA these days. I also recommend parking across the street in the Ross parking lot, as onsite spots are usually taken and street parking fills up fast.

Obsessed with this place! From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel like a longtime friend—super welcoming and just awesome vibes all around. And the matcha and pastries here are DELICIOUS! Plus, I love how diverse the team is; it adds so much personality and makes it feel like a spot made for everyone. So happy we finally have a go-to place like this in the area that’s serving up not only the best drinks but also such good energy. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out big time!

This was incredible! We've driven by at least 100 times and did not know it was there. We were treated so kindly by the staff who engaged with my kids and served exemplary beverages. Highly recommend the espresso tonic! We got a cinnamon roll and drip coffee and everything was to the highest quality. We will be taking all our guests here to showoff!

Nice coffee shop with a relaxed vibe, tasty baked goods, and a pleasant outdoor seating area. The batch brew was very flavorful, they have a nice selection of beans (including La Cabra, an excellent roaster from Denmark), and plenty of space. Being right next to a busy road is a little unfortunate, but I still enjoyed sitting outside in the sun.

Not sure what the haters are smoking, but I’d be in trouble if I lived near by How’s It Going to End. Cortado 10/10. Decor is minimalistic and the vibes are high. Cute place to catch up with a friend, enjoy a cup solo or work on your laptop. The garden / outdoor sitting area gives major zen. Wish more spots like this existed in LA.

Lovely, beautiful coffee shop. Good regular latte. The prices are a little high for certain things ($8 for a flavored latte/matcha latte). Really cool exterior and interior, service was great. I showed up at 3:30 and they gave me a couple baked goods so that they wouldn’t go to waste. It looked they did the same with 3 people who were also there until close. Looks like they could add way more interior seating options (might have only been two tables inside) and better workspaces, but if you’re alone and not staying long - highly recommend!

In response to some of these reviews: this place is not overpriced. A latte at Starbucks is just as much. LOL. But here, the coffee is GREAT, featuring high quality roasters like Heart, and La Cabra. The cafe is a repurposed midcentury dry cleaner. The minimalist decor, including a giant boulder for a table, sets the stage for enjoying top-notch coffee in a serene environment. Their espresso drinks and cream tops are great, and the native landscaped patio is rad. A true gem in Montrose for those seeking quality coffee and a peaceful space.

Amazing coffee, delicious pastries with beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. Our coffees (and pastries) were very fairly priced in our opinion for specialty coffee. Barista was very sweet and the place was very clean. Sad this is place is a little out of the way for us, but so worth the drive and hype! Can’t wait to come back :)

I pulled up google Maps and hit coffee. Up popped, 'How's it Going to End?' And who wouldn't want to stop for coffee with a shop name like that? (Don't Let the Regal Cleaners sign fool ya). Open for a bit over a year. They had some great looking treats on display. I went with the shortbread cookie, made in-house. It went perfectly with my Americano. The staff was courteous and professional, and they get what customer service meant.

Good but not outstanding coffee. Probably best for those who are going to stay and sip- for a to-go order it's not the best value in the area.

This is not a laundry, why they have the cleaners sign there?

j

Love the atmosphere- it’s simple and clean but has a warmth about it. The drinks are good 👍 the price is higher than typical. On my rotation of not-Starbucks spots in la Crescenta/Montrose area. Staff has always been nice. Minor con for those going to work or chat for a long while: Knocking one star for the sitting arrangements. They could definitely tear out one of the displays in the center to make a little coffee bar there. The stools are pretty uncomfortable after awhile. It reminds me of aggressive architecture. The little metal legs poke out the top just enough so that you feel it. More seating outside with small tables and umbrellas would be nice too. Change that or add cushions and it would be perfect.

B
Brian

This place is EXPENSIVE. Sure, with inflation nowadays, you could say the price they’re charging is justified. But there are other small mom and pop type coffee shops in the area that serve just as good of coffee for a much lower price. This place charges $8 for a TINY vanilla latte. Overall though, they still get 4 stars since the drinks, although small, are still good. And the customer service is great and the atmosphere is very spacious and clean.

Matcha latte was delicious. Note to self, they can't use their cold brew to make a hot beverage. Nice space, I would bring friends here. I don't live in the area so probably won't be back. The windows are freakishly clean. I could see myself walking into one. Music a bit too much

Finally figured out why I kept seeing so many people hanging out in front of the dry cleaners: it’s a coffee shop with cool midcentury vibes. Love they kept the Googie architecture, and the light sculpture in the bathroom. The hot chocolate was more warm than hot. The ham and cheese croissant was excellent. And the patio is dog friendly!

J

Another is phenomenal. Retro modern. You'll never know it's there because there isn't a single sign that says it's a coffee shop. Just the old dry cleaners sign. Coffee is on the weak side but good nonetheless.

I wish I could rate the atmosphere, but unfortunately the past five times I’ve gone here there is zero seating!! Drinks are good, but more expensive than the average coffee shop around here. I do appreciate the vegan pastry items, that are also very good! However— please add more seating!! Or at least some tables outside. I wish I could actually enjoy this place in person. Maybe place some barstools at the standing table?

C
Catherine Bernardino

Employees were nice and atmosphere was ok. But I paid $9 for an iced oat milk vanilla latte and it tasted like water. I’m just really confused on how a simple, probably one of the most common ordered, drinks can be messed up. Pretty disappointed :/

J
J

there’s absolutely nothing special about the coffee at all but definitely understand why it stands out for those in the immediate neighborhood as there’s no good coffee in the area. wildly overpriced for what it is, some of the best cafes in la don’t even charge what this place does and their cups are way larger. paid $10 for a tiny coffee smaller than my hand. robbery. don’t see this place surviving out in la. maybe just this tiny neighborhood… but it’s cute inside! love the sign and desert-y decor.

Staff was not friendly for starters. Coffee was just coffee. Nothing special- actually not special at all. Wouldn’t go back. But the place itself is kinda cool.

Coffee is good. Not sure if it's worth the price. I rated 3 stars because I made a stop here to do virtual meeting after a doctors appointment. It was "quiet" enough for a meeting, but no access to Wifi was unexpected. Lastly, the cleaners signage was confusing as I drove by a very busy Verdugo Blvd. 😑

I dont drink coffee but friends of mine do so I go here with them. The Ham and cheese and regular croissants are very good. The iced tea is also good but $6 for a tiny cup with no refill? I will never order it again!

Listen, i finally tried it out because i have my other local go to s…within walking distance! Small simple menu and bakery items meets gluten free standards. They allow our fur babies in and out awesome! Friendly for little human babies as well! But damn … your customer service is all lies… friendly? More like annoyed i’m here it was only 9 am on a Saturday and it seems you two guys have been working for 3 days straight.instead of a welcoming greeting or gesture it’s a what do you want…when i accidentally forgot to ask about a substitute for my vanilla latte drink after paying , they both gave me a death stare like it’s too late, forget about customer satisfaction, nooooo, but they didn’t call my orders out until a few mins later….(2 drinks total). One and DONE :)

D
Devin Zweifel

Like a beautiful woman with no personality. I've given this place a few tries because I love the vibe. But the customer service and quality of coffee just do not mach the aesthetic. Last time for example, I ordered an Americano. It was acidic and under-extracted. I tried to power through it but thought, why am I doing this? I sent it back and, with a dash of self-defensiveness, gave me a fresh cup. It was only slightly better but this time room temp. It's unfortunate because it would be such a great place seeing as Montrose needed a great coffee establishment. But until they hire baristas who are both trained and care about the company's philosophy and reputation they are only going to get patrons who drink Maxwell House. All the best. 6/8/25 Update I thought about giving these guys another go today because i love the atmosphere but I fear a reprise of my last three attempts. I would love if the owners were to read these reviews constructively and work at adjusting their process and training their baristas and possibly reaching out. That would garner a great deal of respect and trust in their product. Peace be with you.

M

If you want overly priced, bland drinks, this is the place to be. We tried it a couple times and not only were the drinks so expensive ($6 for a small glass serving) and terribly made. So disappointed at how hyped up they made this place be. We went on a weekend and weekday and both times we had to ask for the drinks to be re-made since they were not edible. We hope they do something so they can stay in business and we can try them again!

J
Janice Joe

Yeah this place is great so I don’t really understand why the service lacks? The best part is when the transaction is over and i can finally rest with drink in hand. Baristas sound like they’re having a great time behind the bar which is great but I feel like a bother whenever I order. My bad?

N
Natalia Reyes

Was here a few months ago and nothing about his place stood out. Coffee was fine but nothing extraordinary. Service has much to be desired as they only seem to cater to a certain demographic of people. Also the place has a weird smell. Ive heard this place is owned by the same company that owns dinosaur coffee in sliver lake and it was the same experience there- so it tracks. They need to be friendlier to POC. Hopefully they improve!

A

Younger staff working there don’t know how to make any sort of mixed beverages, hot or cold. I paid a lot of money for a small latte which didn’t taste anything like what it’s supposed to and the staff was rude and you feel like they didn’t want you to be there.. I ended up giving my cup back which almost fell off my hand because the lid popped off. I wanted them to know that the coffee wasn’t good enough. I hope this review would help the owner to make some positive changes.

Ive heard this place is owned by the same company that owns dinosaur coffee in sliver lake and it was the same experience there- so it tracks. They need to be friendlier to POC. Hopefully they improve!

I paid $8 for an iced vanilla latte, which tasted very standard. The atmosphere was very chill, which I liked. And I appreciated the large windows for natural lighting and good ventilation, as they were wide open. However, the service was terrible! I have to agree with some reviewers that some workers are not friendly. I couldn’t believe my ears when a male worker said you’re welcome when I went to the counter to pick up my drink, which was snarky to say the least. I will not return!

Shit “cafe” offering no WiFi for guests, yet still they charge a lot for their drinks/pastries.

Do not recommend this place. Just weird. Matcha was not good at all. Service was worse. They were very unfriendly and rude, the baristas were just chatting away, ignoring customers. Weird vibes ...one of the weirdest and rudest coffeeshops ive been to.

I just drove 20 minutes here and it’s closed even though on google it says it’s open…… #sad #why

Quite possibly the WORST coffee I have ever had. Never understood why people leave bad reviews but after paying an absurd amount for something that is disgusting I understand why people would be upset enough to leave a review. More than eight dollars for a chai latte that tastes like cayenne pepper powder with milk is absurd. Such a shame that the atmosphere is beautiful but the coffee is extremely un enjoyable. Save your time and money.

The coffee and food are overpriced and don't taste good (my coffee tasted bitter and had weird floaties in it) Not enough seating and it's just bad...also why does the bathroom have rgb lighting!?

My first time at this place. I ordered a simple coffee. Had to wait 5’! Three other people were served with more involved coffees who came after me! They did not even apologize for this mistreatment. I think they want to mistreat non white; non Asian clients to discourage them of coming here. In the heart of an Armenian area; no Armenians here ! I am wondering in this day and age; running business (a coffee shop) that wants to be selective on clientele is a wide move Definitely my last time here.

Very unfriendly and coffee is subpar. $8 for a tiny vanilla latte that doesnt even taste good. I do not recommend. How’s it going to end? Not good at the rate they are going.

Super expensive; no seating, or poorly organized seating so no one has their own space and still no is being social; and so so so sunny... How can you open a coffee shop for the end of the world and not have a little bit of shade?

My experience was very bad. Service was extremely slow to the point they were probably ignoring me. Which was absurd because they greeted me right when I walked in! Why do that when you’re gonna ignore me anyway? ended up waiting there just looking at them while the employees talked and none of them approached the register. Coffee was just okay. The ham and cheese croissant was good but a little stale even though I was there early. It’s overpriced for what you get. There’s a minimal aesthetic but it might be TOO minimal because there was no trash bin, utensils, or napkins, which didn’t come with my order so it’s kind of essential to have these things out if you’re not gonna provide them! Like they had fully stocked merch shelves but you can’t even throw away your empty cup?
