Awesome and hidden go to mex! first time there and he recommended mole and grandma sauce on my enchiladas. Great service. Great food. Chips are thin crispy. Sauces were great. Please try! Short opening time so plan accordingly.
This place is amazing. They have one of the best orange sauces I have ever had. Get anything with Grandma's 100 year old sauce and you will be beyond happy. Have great salsa that comes out with delicious chips. I always order a Sierra Nevada becasue it just goes so good with all their food. YUMMY.
Grandma’s sauce is my favorite. Their salsa will test all your taste buds with the spice. Tortillas are fresh as you can get. Enchiladas, burritos and quesadillas, you name it, it is the best you can find in the city
The food here was completely amazing. My wife had a chicken taco and the chicken was unfathomably moist. You could stand in a coop with a hose and not get chicken this moist. The flavor was also wonderful in that way when a bunch of disparate elements combine in a perfect way to make a delicious unified whole. I had "Grandma's Especial" which was gloriously decadent and I used the last of my tortilla to scrape the every remaining vestige of sauce from the plate. The rice and beans were both very good, as were the tortillas. Complimentary chips and three kinds of salsa made an appearance. We will definitely be going back.
This gem is tucked away in a residential area, easy to miss, but don't miss it! I was warmly welcomed when I walked in the door - it's clear the staff love their job because everyone was smiling and energetic. The waiters were quick to give us chips and sauces, and prompt on refilling them and our drinks. The food feels like really authentic Mexican, not just Tex Mex. Everything is very fresh and flavorful! I got the fiesta enchiladas, highly recommended!
Great sauces, especially grandma's special sauce. Although I wish they put vegetables in enchiladas instead of beans in enchiladas because you anyways get beans on the side too. Their patio sitting and dedicated parking are nice too. Although it is more expensive than usual Mexican places in Bay area.
They seem to have a new chef. Same menu but the flavors are crisp, fresh and more delicious. I had the vegetarian salad and added meat. Fabulous. He had fish in a perfectly balanced sauce with a citrus flavor and peppers. Excellent
Ordered take out here several times over the past year! Always have good experience. The food is as delicious as it's always been and ready for plick up within a reasonable timeframe (depending on time of day the order is placed). I also noted the outdoor dining area is a well arranged setup!
The grandma’s sauce is amazing. Incredible and all things awesome. Equally as amazing and awesome is Hector. His recommendations, kindness and attention is above and beyond world class. We will comeback because of Hector!
Been coming here for over 30 years! The best Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area hands down. The mole and Grandmas sauce is homemade and unforgettable.
I have been visiting regularly for a couple years. Close to downtown Mountain View, walking distance from Castro. Has a really nice outdoor seating area with umbrellas and heaters to help with the sun/cold. Dog friendly outside. Service is always great, salsa is amazing (nice and spicy!), margaritas come by the glass or the pitcher and there are a ton of options. Never been disappointed by whatever I've ordered!
I can't say enough good things about this Mexican restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of spices and flavors. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. But what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere - it's warm, inviting, and perfect for a casual night out with friends.
Extremely noisy! Impossible to talk. The food is excellent!
Lovely family restaurant. If you’re up for spicy, try the Suizas with achiote sauce. A great enchilada with mole sauce, spicy enough to make you sweat a little but not over the top and super flavorful
Love the house special sauce. It's creamy and very slightly spicy. Love the mole too. Hadn't been here in several years, very pleased the experience is still great.
The chicken was amazing. In every dish it stood out. So delicious.
This quaint restaurant has always been a favorite of my parents and they would go here monthly. Now that my father passed away my mother only goes when I am in town to go with her. The owners are always so kind to her and gave their condolences when they noticed he was no longer accompanying her. The menu never disappoints, delicious authentic Mexican cuisine.
No other Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area comes close to this. The food is phenomenal and to top it off the service is great - the staff members are all just incredibly nice human beings. Nothing like digging into a warm meal here at the end of the day. And the ambience is the cherry on top of the whole experience.
Amazing ambiance, good service. It was packed! The chicken special was delicious because the sauce is good, but it doesn't come with any veggies and the chicken is quite dry. That said it's still a good dish on the strength of the sauce and the delicious flour tortillas that come with it. My wife got carne asada tacos and they were amazing. Overall the food quality is very high. Also their limeade is delicious and they give you a huge glass!
Excellent. Came here for an early Saturday lunch but didn't realize they have brunch here as well. My friend and I ended up getting eggs and it was great. Their tortillas are fresh and homemade and amazing. I can seriously make a meal out of the tortillas and Grandma's especial sauce. Delicious!
I went here for a large party and the food was great. I got the chicken mole and it was just the right balance of spiciness and tasty. The restaurant is small but they're accommodating of large groups. Parking is a bit difficult but there's street parking within a block of the restaurant.
Great consistent food. The salsas are perfect, I love their green salsa! Good margaritas and the staff is great, I swear I've seen the same people there for years. Definitely worth a try if you have never been, try the enchiladas!
My favorite Mexican restaurant. Get the enchiladas. Grandma's Special Enchiladas are the best. Mole also very good. I like their pork and their cheese fillings. Sometimes chicken (which is shredded) can be a little dry. Enchiladas camarones en salsa blanca (with shrimp in white sauce) are creamy and very garlicky--perhaps not an authentic dish with this sauce, but oh-so-good. Some of the sauces are too spicy for my somewhat spice-averse older parents, but I like it. The free chips and salsa that come with your meal hit the spot, too! The dark red salsa is quite spicy. They used to have a lighter red salsa that was even better, but they haven't given us that one for a long time (in person there's been a trio of salsas, but during the pandemic, I've been ordering to go, and they give only one--the dark red--with to-go orders). They seem to do *really* good business at dinner time, so if you order to-go, you may have to let it ring a long time before someone picks up, even letting it ring until it cuts off, and you have to call back, or there's a busy signal and you have to keep calling until it's not busy--but it's worth the effort.
100% recommend! The service was amazing, they were on top of it and never had us calling out to them. The food was delicious 😋! My new favorite spot that I'll be frequenting.
La Fiesta has been my go-to place for authentic Mexican food in a homey, comforting environment for over a decade. The service is warm and friendly without being overbearing and fake, and the food is delicious and fresh without being too fancy. The prices are reasonable and haven't changed much since I went for the first time in 2005. There's usually street parking on Villa Street or somewhere nearby, and the area is nice and quiet. I recommend!
Great hidden gem in the Old Mountain View neighborhood. Super family friendly - they've got plenty of high chairs and don't mind the little ones running around. The water fountain outside can keep a toddler entertained for a long time! Chips & salsa are quick to arrive, fresh and crunchy. Service is relatively quick and food shows up hot. If you enjoy margaritas, La Fiesta's hit the spot. We had 2 pitchers for 4 adults and finished every last drop. Food is consistently good. Great place for families to go for a fun night out!
La Fiesta is a must-try restaurant! I wish i could remember what year I first discovered them. I was on my way home from Castro Street in Mountain View and decided just to take Villa to Calderon, when I noticed this crazy-busy restaurant, with its tiny little parking lot. This was at lunch time maybe in the late 1990s? Anyway, I made a note to check it out but to go early. (BTW, they don't seem to be open for lunch anymore.) The food was soooooo good! The staff is attentive and friendly. The place is beautifully decorated and clean. I have lived everything I've tried there. I used to think it was a tad pricey. These days everywhere is so pricey that I see La Fiesta as guaranteed value. Check it out!
We’ve been coming here for years and the owners are incredibly nice. The portions are massive and highly recommend getting any burrito “crispy”. They broil the burrito and it tastes so much better.
Best Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area (and one of the best in the entire world). The Grandma’s Special Sauce is divine with everything. The Fiesta burrito is humongous and great for vegetarians. It’s loaded with rice, beans, and veggies; smothered with green sauce, cheese, and sour cream; before being baked and served piping hot. I usually get it with a side of Grandma’s Special Sauce. The enchiladas (I like the cheese ones) and chiles rellenos are fantastic as well when I’m seeking a change. Everything is served with a large portion of rice and beans on a heated plate. The chips and salsas (red & green) are delicious and spicy. They used to have a brown salsa as well that was the tastiest, but it was sadly discontinued during Covid. I’ve been coming here with my family for over a decade and the food quality is consistently top notch. It’s a family owned restaurant, and the owners are incredibly kind and hardworking. The service is always great, and they go above and beyond to make sure you feel taken care of and get everything you need. Please come & support this hidden gem in the South Bay Area! You won’t regret it.
My sister T for a few years now has raved about a Mexican restaurant in Mtn. View that she wanted the family to try. Over the years for one reason or another getting the family there just did not happen. After getting my youngest son to work and then picking up food for the furry family (two beautiful yet extravagantly spoiled cats) we decided ok this is the night to try T’s recommendation. We looked up the menu to La Fiesta, checked with both of my sons as to what they wanted then T called in the order and we headed over to Mtn. View. First impression of the outside “ Ok sis, this charming”. Then as we walked to and through the entrance we were greeted with an array of holiday decorations guaranteed to bring smiles to the grinchest Grinch and scroogest Scrooge! We were warmly greeted by two employees (a man and a woman) who let us know our order was being packed up. As my sister and I waited; I explored. In addition to the wonderful holiday decorations the restaurant is full of absolutely stunning artwork. I was completely enthralled. I’m sure I sounded like an annoying broken record as I kept saying “wow this is amazing”. Turns out the man who greeted us is the genius behind the decorations and the art. I had not had a bite of food yet but La Fiesta was already firmly secure in my top of the top places. T and I gave our thanks and headed out. The aromas that filled the car on our drive home were pure bliss. We arrived home, did the Covid clean, dug into the bags to separate the dishes and then finally it was time to eat. We are not a family known for holding back our views on food. If we don’t like it, we are not rude but we will not eat it and we will not return. I took my first bite. I took my second bite. I looked at my sister and I let her have it. How dare she brag on this restaurant for years and not find a way to insist we go. I told her she was wrong for keeping this gem hidden. I will be honest and say the words I used were not words I can or will use in this review. I highly recommend La Fiesta. What an incredible gem. The food is so amazingly delicious. We had a smorgasbord of dishes; Chile verde, flautist, burrito, fajitas, taco, flan, beans and rice, chips and salsa, lemonade and a margarita. I cannot wait until the day we are whole and hearty in this country or at least this state so I can experience dinning in. La Fiesta has several life-long patrons within this family. And big kudos to my sis for finally sharing this hidden gem. 💚💛💚
My ohama and I have been coming here once a week for the last 10 years. They consistently produce great food and great service. They all treat us like a part of their family.
Excellent Mexican food. Definitely the best I’ve had in Mountain View. I live walking distance and finally had a chance to go over with my parents. The restaurant was cute and the staff was exceptionally friendly. My parents are vegetarian and there were plenty of options for them. They ordered the chimichanga and enchiladas, while I had a chicken enchilada and cheese quesadilla. Everything was excellent!! They also give you chips and salsa when you arrive. The rice and beans were very good. I think the rice might have been the best Mexican rice I’ve had recently. We cannot wait to go back!
fuego 🔥🔥🔥 Good options for vegetarians, especially the mole and the grandma’s enchiladas. Service was fast and the staff was very nice. New favorite in the area!
This place is amazing!! It’s definitely a Silicon Valley/Mountain View staple. It’s really hard to find a sit down authentic Mexican restaurant. I’ve had several dishes and they are all incredible. The red salsa they serve you with chips is nice and spicy and the green is on the mild side. The grandma especial is my favorite 🤤. Highly recommend this place for any setting. Enjoy the wonderful dishes and atmosphere. This place is a GEM!
I’m brightly colored atmosphere greet you as well as the smile from the host. This is a local family run business with fresh food. That is absolutely delicious. Enjoy eating inside or outside. I love tortilla soup.
Been eating here for 20+ years. I always get the Grandmas Especial with shrimp and it’s fantastic!! Also, the broth that they give at the beginning of the meal is outstanding and so comforting. The servers and the front of house are always friendly and greet us with a ‘welcome home’! Highly, highly recommend!
Love this place, been coming here for years. Pretty much on the menu is good, and good margarita options.
This place has the best enchiladas Mexicanas! Their salsas are also great - especially if you like spicy salsa, they have a good red salsa. If you like margaritas, they have you covered. They have tons of good marg options. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for good Mexican food in a friendly atmosphere.
Just came back from Mexico City. I went there looking for an authentic culinary experience that wasn’t your typical street taco. ….To tell the truth, I was a bit thrown back. La Fiesta, the spot just down the road that I’ve been going to for years IS that experience. I just didn’t realize it until I was in the heart of Mexico Great drinks and tons of Margarita variations. I like the Yucatán I like a lot of the Pollo variations but I usually get Pollo Rajas or the chicken Enchiladas. On the enchiladas I typically ask for them “divorciados” with the Mole sauce and the Grandma’s special sauce or sometimes the Red. I get them “Tampiqueño” (with Steak added) sometimes too. I like to branch out and try new things but the grandmas sauce is just so good, so divorciados allows me to test new things while still getting my fix. My dad likes the Chile Colorado.
Excellent service and very tasty food. I got grandma's especial, and although the chicken and sauce is the star, I enjoyed the rice and beans as much. Make sure to ask for a couple of tortillas to mop up the sauce. It's nice that it's not on Castro street. It makes the place feel calmer and more like having dinner at someone's home.
The food was pretty good. There were a lot of vegetarian options. The achiote burrito was really good but pretty spicy. The salsa was pretty spicy too. The Grandma's special enchiladas was different from other enchiladas I've had and quite nice. The portions were quite large once you include the rice and beans.
Highly recommended..La Fiesta is a Very nice Mexican restaurant in San Jose. You will enjoy Nachos 1st picture or the Chipotle second picture( shame on the brand Chipotle which does not even have the real thing on the menu) so do try them... Not to mention the Mexican drinks menu, do try La Gunitas.. Very very friendly staff and very colorful & lively atmosphere.. I loved this place & will go again..

Service & food amazingly good after 40+ years in the same Mtn. view location! This family owned restaurant is a gem with the best mole!

Excellent Ambiance and value for money! We went around 05:30 pm on Saturday, the restaurant got super crowded in an hour. Food was tasty and I would come back again and again to this place.

That was my first time here and I must admit that the food is pretty good. The tortilla chips are home made and are excellent. I took the flautas, which were very good as well. Same thing, the tortillas seemed to be home made. I'll go back if the occasion arises. It's a little pricey but it's worth the money.
The Mexican food here is authentic and tasty. Sometimes it's too hot for my palette. The service is pretty quick and no-nonsense. It can be loud here, but it's not overbearing. The location is a little out of the way, but the walk is worth it.
This is a nice place to eat away from Castro St. Im not a huge fan of Mexican food but its decent. The grilled shrimp salad is yummy but its the atmosphere really takes you away. Dining is on the outside and they decorated it really nice with lights.
I have had a great dining experience here!
Attractive decor and intelligent service were the outstanding features. My friend and I each have food restrictions, and the servers were very helpful in meeting our needs. Chile Colorado was tender and flavorful beef in a very tasty red sauce, but the portion seemed small for the price, and the rice, beans, and corn tortillas were just OK, not as good as the beef. Red dipping salsa with the tortilla chips had a good kick of spice, and the starter cup of chicken broth was a nice touch.
Authentic and tasty Mexican dine in restaurant. Dishes like the grandma special burrito and enchliadas are very good....has seafood items as well. Outdoor seating. Kind of a warm homely atmosphere to eat. One of the better Mexican restaurants in the Mountain View area and has been a popular local favorite for many years. Obviously more expensive to eat than typical Mexican food but I think it is worth it as a treat. Good service too!
Overall the food was good. I had a chimichanga with beef. The portions are enormous. I love the guacamole here as well as the salsas. The sides are solid. I'd definitely eat here again as a reliable restaurant. Our servers were nice and prompt and always kept us filled up with drinks and food. Lovely place overall. Also try out the camarones y chorizo and the burrito Verde. Folks swear by the grandma sauce, but I've not delved into it. So let me know what you think!
A solid Mexican restaurant in old downtown Mountain View that has been around for many years. The food they serve reminds one the old times. Their mama’s special sauce over chicken or enchiladas has a unique combination of tomato sauce, cheese, and spices, very rich and memorable. Chicken soup was homey. Service was attentive. Price is a bit high compared to other Mexican restaurants. We only wish they would serve some vegetables (e.g., lettuce and tomatoes) on the side as many other Mexican restaurants do.
The chicken soup is amazing! Been going here for over 20 years. Either soup is fine. Also recommend the tacos.

We've been eating at La Fiesta for about 25 years. We hadn't been there since covid hit over a year ago. It was a warm evening so we decided to see what their outdoor dining was like. It was very nic…
It is open on Sunday, so that's a plus. My chili relleno was OK but nothing special. I had probably one of the most odd tacos I can recall, and that is saying a lot as I have lived my whole life in California. A pre-made supermarket shell containing two very dry chunks of roast easily big enough to choke on. They were prepared with no Mexican seasonings that I could detect. There was absolutely no way to eat it like a normal taco. I cut it up with a knife and fork. Nothing in my meal or that of my dinner companions seemed homemade. Everything looked like it had come out of a bag or a can. The outdoor patio area seemed nice.
Decent classic Mexican food, well prepared, but very expensive. Try the mole. I'd give it 4 stars but the high prices weaken the value of the meal. The service was very attentive. The decor was pretty, but it was also very cold in the rear dining room.
I would have given 4 star but deducted 1 star for extremely spicy salsa and they're not able to accommodate by giving any milder version. I love spicy but this is so spicy you can't eat it. Deducted another point for service, they should have better service. Now good things, location is nice and food was tasty.
Great host. Burritos were awesome. But the Veggie Fajita I ordered was loaded with french fries. No other Mexican restaurants in my previous experience ever added potatoes in the fajita. Also, there was no sour cream or guacamole on the side.
Very friendly service in a welcoming environment. I loved the decorations - it definitely made the place more fun. The drinks were good. The food was mediocre though it might be my taste. It has the feeling of heavy and fatty Tex-Mex. There was nothing that feels fresh with interesting layered flavors. All the sauces along with the beans felt like that smothered anything that could have emerged from the underlying flavors and textures.
Carne Asada 4 pounded thin steak, tasteless Grandma's sauce 3 spicy sour cream
La Fiesta has excellent service, but the food doesn't live up to the high prices. We were seated and served chips within 2 minutes of walking in the front door, and our waters were refilled quickly without asking. Even our meals were served within 5 minutes of ordering! My partner ordered a mole chicken plate (~$26) and I ordered a mole pork burrito (~$21). Both were served with generous amounts of rice and beans, and the mole sauce was flavorful if slightly diluted. I was a bit disappointed in the burrito, as there wasn't much sauce inside so the pork pieces tasted plain. The shredded chicken was more flavorful. The chips were stale and the salsas weren't refilled with the chips. At least the red salsa was quite spicy and the green salsa had a flavorful punch. The atmosphere is homey with a medium loud buzz of conversation. Don't expect fancy interiors despite the high prices; my table had a scratched coat of ugly brown paint. I would be fine with all of this if it was 30% cheaper, but at these prices, I was hoping for better. I'd recommend going to a more economical taqueria, as most local ones have more flavorful meats and crispier chips.
La Fiesta seems to be an institution in Mountain View. The servers are very friendly and there's definitely a family-run-business vibe. Felt very homey. The food was good. I had the fish and it was cooked well (4/5). My wife got the veggie salad but she expected more of a taco salad style whereas hers was more iceberg (3/5). My main criticism is that the food is SO expensive! It's $30 per plate for anything, even the salad! You can get the exact same food for about half or at most $20 at almost any other Mexican restaurant.
Came here for Valentines Day. It was easy to get a seat for 5. We spotted this while going to our reservation at Don Giovanni downtown. At Don Giovanni they were serving a special expensive menu without pizza (the main reason we went here was my niece loves the cheese pizza here) so we left and returned to La Fiesta. It was a sign spotting it on our way downtown so we returned! Chips, salsa, and our first round of drinks came quick. I got the skinny margarita since I didn’t want sweet and sour in mine and it was good. Not amazing, but good. We ordered our mains when our drinks arrived. Food came quick. I got chile Colorado enchiladas with the grandma sauce on top. It was good and hit the spot that night. The grandma sauce is mild and it went really well with the chile Colorado. Other folks got the mole which they really enjoyed. It is a deep rich mole. Next time we go I’ll get that. I had to dock some stars because our service that night was not very good. Maybe it was because it was Valentine’s Day. It seemed like they were down a server or something. Initial margaritas came quick but we never got the chance to order another round. We were never really checked up on for more drinks. Overall the food was good but the service was lacking. I enjoyed our meal on Valentines Day and I want to try this spot again so I’ll definitely return and I hope to give this some more stars.
Host was great and attentive. Waiter was ok. Was really looking forward to having the Mole Poblano. Was disappointed in the serving. 3 pieces of chicken leaves you to desire for more. It was very authentic and had good taste, but not worth the price. Flan was overly sweet and didn't seem from scratch.
A co-worker recommended this restaurant. First time there. There was 5 of us... Salsa was super hot! Chips were too too hard. Originally, I ordered a Hard Taco and quesadilla combo plate. My quesadilla was not cooked thru and my crispy taco fell apart at first bite. That was so Disappointing. They offered to make me something else and suggested "Grandmas enchiladas." It came just as everyone else was done with their food. My mom, got Flautas. Chicken was white meat but dry, very dry and bland. My sister and her husband got chile verde. It was good to them. My nephew got quesadilla plate. The quesadilla was smothered in quacamole and he is allergic. They made it over. His plate was quickly fixed with a new quesadilla. Back to my plate... it was ok. The grandma sauce was tasty. The chicken was breast but also dry with not much flavor and overall plate was not warm enough. Was disappointed to not get a discount even though waiter had said he took off the price of my plate, but that was just the first plate that I DID NOT Eat. Overall... gave 3 stars since waiter was nice and helpful. Also, the woman (maybe boss / owner) was fast to help us all be happy. Also the water guy gave us water and soda refills.
It’s definitely just an average restaurant. We went there on a Wednesday night and had to wait for 10 min to be seated. We ordered the vegetarian salad, Grandma’s Especial, the Enchiladas and guacamole. Well, we didn’t like any of them and the guacamole was certainly overpriced for its portion. Overall the service was average too, we had to wait a long time to get our check and our waiter wasn’t that attentive. I don’t recommend this place and don’t think I would go back anytime soon.
La Fiesta Restaurant in Mountain view has a nice, casual sit-down vibe and friendly service. The mole was the highlight -- rich and full of flavor. Some of the other dishes were just okay for us. T…
Not the worst meal I’ve ever had, but I will not be back. While the food was decent, it was way too expensive. My salad was 23 dollars for some iceberg lettuce and a few pieces of shriveled shrimp. Also, while my husband and I were eating our food slowly, attempting to enjoy each other’s company, one of 5 waiters would come and interrupt our meal every 5 minutes trying to take our plates away. Lastly, when we got the bill, there was something completely off about the total. Turns out, they had given us the bill for the wrong table. For those who do want to dine here, I would recommend just having a couple of drinks on their patio. Not a great place to have a good, relaxing dinner.
Well, the margarita was good. Taco and quesadilla was terrible. Beef taco was in a taco bell tortilla and the beef was WAY overcooked, quesadilla was not great either. Refrieds were ok cause that's…
I was excited to try this place, first of all it was not busy at all yet it took forever to get someone to our table even though there was a guy right next to our table (but apparently he only grabbed water and chips). Our server was kind of rude, I ended up having the enchiladas 1 mole and the other grandma's special. The sauces were ok but the chicken in the enchilada was so bland. Will never eat here again.
We came in with high hopes. Chips were served cold. One waiter did not speak English and instead of bringing water with no ice, he brought me an extra cup full of ice. Then they serve a mug of chicken soup which my husband liked, but the meal went downhill from there. I’ve never had worse fajitas, not served on a sizzling plate, hardly any veg, too much garlic (why was there garlic anyway!?). Beans extremely salty. We won’t be back. Disappointing.
