This was our first time at this location. We had never heard of it before. We are entirely gluten free, because of autoimmune issues, so eating out is tricky. 98% of their menu is gf, and they take great precautions to keep cross contamination being an issue. We had ribs, brisket tacos, steak, Buffalo wings, a burger, and an awesome brownie. All were amazingly delicious. They also had live music, which we enjoyed. Great food, and fun atmosphere. We highly recommend this place. 😊
Had to cancel valentines plans so decided to try a new place. BEST DECISION EVER!!! This was the most amazing burger place with a twist or 2. Had brisket burger and pulled pork burger and this is now our favorite place by a mile. Deviled eggs and jalapeno poppers also to die for and best sweet potato fries i ever had. Just made our valentines go from ruined to best ever!!! Truly a must try
This place is so universal. Great place to just pop in for a beer or come with family for great food. Restrooms are always impeccable, service is great, it is obviouse this establishment guides their young staffers into greatness. If your going to give it a shot, start out on Wednesday for their burger special, skip the fries and get the flash fried green beans! The best!
The Backyard in Murphy is a great spot with really good food and a fun atmosphere. The music is always enjoyable, whether it’s live or just the playlist, and it adds a nice vibe to the whole place. It’s a perfect spot to relax, eat, and hang out. Definitely worth checking out!
Love coming here with my kids. I’m gluten free along with one of my kiddos (gf cheese burger and grilled chicken on the kids menu!!) because I can order all but a couple things on the menu! It’s so great and delicious! Also a great area for the kids to hang out and be themselves in the back yard so the adults can enjoy hot food while they’re getting their energy out. ☺️ These are the brisket tacos. So yummy!!
Great place to chill with a drink I had the chicken wings. They were really good. I had the habanero. My wife had a cheeseburger which she really enjoyed with french fries. The service was outstanding. Our server checked on us regularly. Tonight we had live music, which we really enjoyed. There was a gentleman with a guitar who was really jamming. Highly recommended
I have been quite a few times and have always been very impressed with the service and the food. They have many, many gluten free options and those options are GOOD. best gluten free banana pudding I've had. The appetizers are amazing. And we get to bring our dog for outdoor seating, so the kids enjoy that
I had the most delightful experience bringing my furry friend to The Backyard for lunch. This charming restaurant has truly mastered the art of creating a dog-friendly atmosphere while serving up some of the most delectable pulled pork sandwiches in town. From the moment I walked in with my four-legged companion, I was greeted with warm smiles and a friendly acknowledgment of my furry friend. The staff at The Backyard went above and beyond to make both of us feel welcome. They provided a water bowl and even a little treat for my pup, who couldn't have been happier. As I settled into the rustic outdoor seating area, I couldn't help but appreciate the serene ambiance of The Backyard. Surrounded by umbrellas and outdoor lighting, it truly felt like a hidden oasis in the heart of the town. My dog seemed equally thrilled, with plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the fresh air. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the pulled pork sandwich. The moment it arrived at my table, I could tell it was something special. The aroma was mouthwatering, and the presentation was impeccable. The sandwich was generously piled high with tender, smoky pulled pork, and it was served on a perfectly toasted bun. The accompanying coleslaw and pickles added a delightful crunch and tangy contrast to the rich, savory pork. Every bite was a symphony of flavors and textures. The pork was succulent, with a harmonious blend of smokiness and sweetness from the barbecue sauce. It practically melted in my mouth. The coleslaw provided a refreshing crunch and a burst of freshness that balanced the richness of the pork. What made this dining experience truly exceptional was that I didn't have to leave my furry friend behind. We enjoyed our lunch together in a serene outdoor setting, and I could see the happiness in my dog's eyes as he watched the world go by. The Backyard isn't just a restaurant; it's a haven for dog lovers and food enthusiasts alike. The combination of a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and mouthwatering pulled pork sandwiches make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy a delightful meal with their canine companion. I left The Backyard with a satisfied stomach, a happy dog, and a heart full of appreciation for such a wonderful dining experience. I'll definitely be back for more pulled pork sandwiches and puppy-friendly ambiance.
Great place! Happy hour…. Half price appetizer pulled pork nachos $5 Tito’s spiked lemonade Pulled pork spud Rib plate w/fries My husband is a BBQ lover and I might have unintentionally lead him to think this was a BBQ smokehouse. It is not, however, the food was delicious. My husband felt the ribs fell short, but he was wanting reall smokehouse BBQ. They were tender and fell off the bone. The pP nachos were huge and half price. Can’t go wrong. The PP Baker was huge as well loaded with lots of meat and fixings. The service was spot on and we were in and hour within. 45 minutes.
I'm mad at myself for not trying this place earlier! I always passed by the colorfully lit patio until yesterday when I decided to dine in. It was pretty crowded, but there's more space in the back and the backyard. It was a little chilly that day, but the workers turned on the patio heaters. I had the deviled eggs with brisket to start. It was good, but I wish the brisket was served warm instead of cold. I ordered the brisket burger, which was SO. FREAKING. AMAZING! The meat was cooked perfectly. It also came with a generous portion of delicious fries. The employees were nice and made sure to check in on us regularly. I totally understand why this place was packed! (Btw - they have different half-off specials throughout the week!)
Food is mediocre Texas. Good but nothing special. Bartenders know their job very well and the atmosphere is generic, a bit impersonal. Ok experience but not more than that.
BackYard Murphy got that backyard vibe for real. The food came out fresh and full of flavor definitely worth pulling up for. Service could’ve been a little tighter on the timing and attention, but they were cool once locked in. Atmosphere? Chill, wide-open, and felt like a spot you can kick back with family or crew. Overall solid 4-star experience I’ll be back to run it up again.
Backyard Murphy is a great spot with a friendly small-town vibe, perfect for local families and neighbors. The staff is young, welcoming, and attentive, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. There’s a spacious patio, cold beer, tasty cocktails, and affordable, flavorful food. It’s family-friendly with safe space for kids to play, easy parking, and plenty of seating options. A go-to hangout for good food, drinks, and a true community feel.
First time here for lunch. I had the brisket sandwich which I thought was pretty good. Medium sized sandwich filled with tender brisket, BBQ sauce, and some red onions. Glad that it was not drenched it sauce so that I could actually taste the meat. The fries came out luke warm. My wife had the tacos with brisket, pork and chicken. She thought the chicken was the best of the three. My son’s cheeseburger came out hot but was not really anything remarkable. Just a burger. I didn’t drink that day but seems like a nice laid back place for a beer and some pub food. Several TVs were on the walls for sports.
Fantastic happy hour drink and food specials. $2 drafts and $5 deviled eggs. Some staff don't seem to know what's going on, but overall a great experience. Lots of kids outside. Live music. The burgers are good. The potato skins are more like big fries. We didn't enjoy them as we were expecting a hollowed out potato half filled with cheese and toppings. The brisket queso is pretty good. Cheap quality wine selection. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner. Great guy, great energy, great conversation.
When I went there was a fairly small menu (all the food options was on one side of a page). Nothing wrong with that. I like places with limited options. It usually means there is more consistency in being able to make everything on the menu well. This place also seems more BBQ focused. I ordered the brisket burger with sweet potato fries. It was good. I kinda wish there was a different sauce that was given for the fries other than ketchup, but that is just personal preference. The outdoor seat looked nice. Don't come to Murphy very often but I can image this being a fun, local hangout.
The customer service was great! Our waitress was awesome, and so were all the other people who checked on us. The environment outside was relaxing and fun. This would be a great place to sit outside and have a drink or a dessert while the kids play. However, I did not enjoy the food at all. I got a burger, and the texture really bothered me. It had some sort of filler or something that made it seem like it wasn't real meat. I can't put my finger on it, but it was not good at all. I would recommend this place for the kids to be entertained while you relax or play with them, but I can't recommend the food.
Deviled eggs 4⭐️: Good enough to order 2x during happy hour (half off all apps) enjoyed the cabbage/slaw with them as well. Would have been even better if the brisket was warm. Presentation could have also been better. Brisket queso 3⭐️ : It was ok but barley any brisket in it and wasn’t very flavorful. Wouldn’t order this again. Ribeye + Shrimp + Green Beans 5⭐️: VERY good and was cooked perfectly to our liking (medium) The 16oz was $29 and both my husband and I were able to enjoy it and we had maybe 4oz or so left over to take home. It was even good re-warmed up the next morning. The shrimp was also perfectly grilled- good flavor and not over cooked. Green beans were crisp and seasoned well but not overcooked/smushy. We also added a baked potato 2⭐️(not pictured) and it was not very good. Came with bacon, shredded cheese and sour cream but NO seasoning at all. The cheese wasn’t melted and it was just overall lackluster and not worth the extra $$ to add this as another side. Ambiance is nice and like that there was a kids area with a few games, blocks, and balls for them to play with. Happy Hr drinks are also a good deal. Would have given it 4 ⭐️ overall if it wasn’t for the seating delays. We came on a Friday ~5pm and were told to sit anywhere. We opted to go to the ‘backyard’ / patio as it was a beautiful day but more than half the tables had “Reserved” signs on them and the other half were taken- many who seemed to be done eating (although it was HH so some were ordering 🍻& other drinks) After walking around for a few minuted we decided to just sit inside then a waitress came and said we could sit at one of tables outside and removed the reserved sign. Several others after us encountered the same issue. Think some people come early and sit and order drinks until the live music starts (~7pm) or maybe make reservations then don’t come for a while— so hinders those of us who want to eat outdoors then leave.
The place itself is pretty cool. There's an outdoor backyard you can eat in with lawn games like giant Jenga, Giant connect 4, and corn hole. There were mini arcade games that our kids loved. There were picnic tables to eat at and the service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was not great however. My burger was dry, the kids pizza tasted terrible, and my friend's chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. The manager apologized and they cooked her another one. Another friend ordered the brisket baked potato and said there was hardly any meat but it looks huge. But the fries were good! Also it took an hour for our food to come out. There was no soap in the bathroom!
Nat’s are flying all over as the tables weren’t wiped down good. I asked for my check and the waitress ignored me and decided to play football with the kids. Had to ask a different waiter for the check and she assisted me but my waiter never came over an even apologized. People also walked out as they weren’t even acknowledged. Seems like a bar for the their regular's or family only. I don’t recommend at all. Run 🏃🏾♂️
