First time in New Orleans and my friend introduced my to this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was insanely delicious. We shared the gumbo (hearty with the perfect amount of spice) and I got the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits (decadent but with a portion that was the perfect size to clean the plate).
Awesome! One of, if not my favorite restaurant in NOLA. The perfect restaurant,. The Service was quick, personal and energetic. The food cam hot and flavorful…and the atmosphere was appropriate for fine dining. I had been here in 2021 with my wife, and made a Point before coming back to reserve a table….it is THAT GOOD. Hard off to JT and Jerome for making it an unforgettable experience!
We can understand why Pres Raegan dined at Mr. B's Bistro twice! We're here to celebrate our 25th anniversary while in NOLA for a mini- moon and was seated at the same table as the great man himself. Jeremy was a wonderfully attentive server (just the right balance of attentive and discreet). His personal knowledge of the menu was a fun conversation starter and we'd ask for him again. One of my favorite things in NOLA is the bread and the bread here with the salted butter does not disappoint... hint: break the bread up in the bag to keep the crumbs contained. The gumbo ya-ya and oysters were cooked to perfection.. flavorful and meaty. I am so glad I ordered the crab salad appetizer because the pork chop my husband ordered was huge so I helped him with a few pieces but we still took a third of it back with us. The ambience is a lively one and we'll be back again to see how things went for Jeremy in Montego!!
Our first visit to Mr B’s Bistro did not disappoint!! The food was delicious, our waiter Rhu was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect!! We will definitely add this to our favorite list to visit each time in New Orleans! I recommend the Honey Ginger Glaze Pork Chop - a generous 14oz chop. The sauce was amazing!! Hubby had the American Snapper and it was amazing as well.
Mr. B’s deserves an “A” in my book. DAMN. If you’re looking for authentic barbequed shrimp in NOLA, do not go anywhere else in Crescent City. What a knock-me-over dinner experience from end to end. This is a big city eatery, so I recommend dressing it up. Sure, you might have a table next to you in Big East attire (via a vis flip flops and Bermuda shorts), but pay them no regard. Just straighten your tie and prepare for a next-level experience. Again, Mr. B’s Barbequed shrimp… WOW. This is the best the French Quarter has to offer, and you won’t be disappointed. They even provide a bib to keep your Sunday duds clean. The also had the filet, which was cooked to perfection and sublimely charred. Try the duck spring rolls if you’re feeling adventurous. I would recommend ending on their signature bread pudding - sweet, dense, and a delight to the last bite (you might fight over that, BTW). The cocktails were also inspired, and I have to say, decently priced compared to other upscale watering holes. If you’re visiting New Orleans, don’t miss this place. It’s charming, boisterous, and just the right blend up living it up in a laid back town.
I picked this for Jazz Brunch as my last restaurant in the city. I made a reservation via OpenTable. Oddly, the system wouldn't let me pick 1 person as I traveled solo, so I ended up booking for 2. My seat was ready very timely, and the waitress introduced herself shortly, bringing me water and taking my order. I've ordered the Pearl Cosmopolitan, Duck springroll, and BBQ shrimp. The food was fantastic and I had a blast during the meal. Simply put, love the food I ordered. Not a single bit of regret. The waitress, Isabel, (I think that's her name) was very friendly and very attentive to ensure I have all that I needed throughout the meal. The Jazz band enhanced the meal environment to another level.
Definitely recommended to eat here. The BBQ Shrimp is a must try. You have to use your hand to eat it but you're missing out if you don't try it! The shrimps are huge, creamy, the sauce is so flavorful. 10 out of 10. We got the cream puff with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was delicious as well. We had good time.
There are many stellar restaurants in New Orleans, but Mr. B's happens to be a gem and my favorite. For 46 years they've been satisfying guests with amazing food and stellar service. A must is their signature dish, the barbecue shrimp. Messy but delicious. Gumbo Ya Ya and Shrimp and Grits are also amazing. All the desserts are worth saving room for! Good cocktails Decent wine list though honestly I think here the beers pair better with some of the foods (depends on your choices and tastes, obviously). This place is an overall winner.
Mr. B’s was such a pleasant dinner! We had the loveliest server who was so attentive and kind to us. I liked the bread service here and the mains were incredible. We also had dessert and some cocktails that were great. The atmosphere here is quiet despite the large dining area and a nice peaceful retreat from the outdoors. I highly recommend both the bread pudding and lemon ice box cake as well as the fish of the day! Very well prepared! Bathrooms are downstairs, may not be the best for someone with mobility issues!
The food was delicious. We had the duck spring rolls, oysters, and gumbo ya ya. Each dish was seasoned well. The entrees were also delicious! I would like to take this opportunity and thank our server Mary for providing excellent service even when she was busy! Thank you for making this experience great for us!
Visiting town to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and was recommended this restaurant, what a blessing! The food was amazing and our server, Jeremy, was super on point. We had a delicious crab cake that was more crab than cake, my boyfriend had the grouper and I had the pork tenderloin. Upon our first bites we were already impressed and grateful to have come here. Icing on the cake was definitely our server. Very attentive and personable! We didn’t tell him we were celebrating (we are rather lowkey) and still he made us feel special and like he really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time! 10/10!
Brunch at Mr. B’s Bistro didnt disappoint! I took the waiter’s recommendation and ordered the Shrimp BBQ, OMG! Hands down one of the best meals I can remember enjoying. Not the easiest of dishes to enjoy because the shrimp are not peeled, but well worth the challenge. Go Sunday and enjoy some live jazz!
Mr. B’s Bistro lived up to expectations. My wife really enjoyed her cocktail the cuke I believe. I just had a brew from parish brewing company. We came for the barbecue shrimp and wow was it great. We just split the meal. The bib is a great touch and necessary when you’re digging into the shrimp and getting messy. The sauce is amazing, bursting with flavors. I was dipping the bread into the sauce until I couldn’t anymore. We also split a dessert that was cream puffs with ice cream and chocolate sauce that we really enjoyed as well. The staff was fantastic, super attentive, they even tie your bib on for you. But the bbq shrimp makes this a must stop every time in Nola. I’ll be dreaming of that sauce.
My husband and I had an amazing experience here! We came for brunch and even though it was super busy, the service was top-notch. The bartenders were a blast to talk to, and even the chefs/line cooks stopped by the bar to check in. You can really tell this place is a well-oiled machine. We can’t wait to come back!
We've been to many Brennan's restaurants and this was our favorite. We enjoyed an amazing experience there on Mother's day. Our waiter, Jeremy, was GREAT!. He was knowledgable about every nuance in each dish. He was super friendly, efficient and professional. We really enjoyed his service! The food, was amazing, as all Brennan's cuisine is! Something about the breading on the fried oyster, light/crispy/flavorful. It was accompanied with a jalapeno creamy dip. Delicious! The pork belly starter was just as good, with its Asian tones. Our main entrees were the bacon wrapped shrimp on the best grits (ever made!) which may be an understatement! The lox and bagel topped with the eggs were also good, although they could of been more generous with the salmon. Delicious, nevertheless! Our last entree was the soft shell crab on a bed of succotash corn relish. So So good. Again, the undertones of pepper and jalapeno, really made the dish unique. Our deserts were the Lemon ice box pie and Pecan Pie. Of course, yummy. The lemon pie tasted similar to a Key Lime Pie. So so good!! We ended our meals with Mr. B's special coffees. You have to try it all! I highly recommend this as a truly genuine New Orleans meal! We will return! Thanks Jeremy for making our brunch so special!
I had heard that Mr. B's has incredible BBQ Shrimp, so I came here just for that. We were surprised to get in without a reservation, but we weren't complaining! The service here is good, Bret knew the menu very well and didn't leave us unattended. I starter with a Brandy Milk Punch. That was really good! It tastes like a spiked eggnog, yum! For our appetizers we got the crab cake and duck Spring rolls. The duck Spring rolls were really good, well-cooked with great texture and flavor! Same with the crab cake, and that might be the best crab cake I've ever had! It was amazing! The time came: BBQ Shrimp. A waitress prepped me with a bib, so I knew they take this very seriously! When I peeled the first shrimp and dipped it in the sauce, I was delighted...It was incredible! The shrimp is very fresh, and that sauce is to die for! I drank the last of that sauce when I was done with the bread and shrimp 😂 For desert I got the chocolate salted caramel cake. It wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping, but it was still good, and pleasantly light! Overall a very good dinner experience!
Our experience at Mr. B's was very enjoyable. A friend and I dined in the early afternoon and enjoyed classic Louisiana dishes. I'm from Tennessee, so I wanted to experience Gumbo, Shrimp & Grits, etc, and these dishes did not disappoint! Mr. B's tries to source local ingredients and prepare everything fresh, and we were very impressed. Would definitely return to Mr. B's!
if you're looking for a rich, decadent gumbo that hits all the marks, look no further than mr. b's. by far the best gumbo i've ever had. go in the afternoon after the lunch rush to get a good spot at the bar. the atmosphere is elegant and unpretentious, what nola does best. i've craved this gumbo since I left.
Excellent local recommendation! Atmosphere was nice but not stuffy. Food was delicious. Gumbo was the only thing that wasn't my favorite...had more of a gravy type base which some might like. Just wasn't what I prefer. The corn and crab soup was very smooth and flavorful. Duck eggrolls were wonderful. Pork chop had great seasoning and the sheepshead fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly with the sauce on the side and flavorful rice. Wanted to try dessert, but we were too full. It was busy while we were there. Waitress seemed like she was less than excited about working that night but warmed up by the conclusion of our dinner. Looking forward to visiting again another time we are in town!
First visit to Mr. B’s Bistro and it was phenomenal. My friend and I are very picky diners and were completely blown away by the food. The BBQ shrimp and the Wednesday chicken and mac special were outstanding. Huge compliments to the kitchen team for the incredible flavor and execution. The highlight of our visit was Bret, who provided some of the best service I have experienced in New Orleans. He was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. We will absolutely be back.
Mr B's was absolutely amazing. We went on our first night in New Orleans and what an introduction! A week later and my wife is still thinking about the barbecue shrimp! Isabel, our server for the evening, was great and made some excellent recommendations. The food was outstanding. Mr B's is very firmly on our "must visit" list if we ever came back. Best food we had in the French Quarter.
We stumbled upon this restaurant very last minute after a recommendation, and what a treat we were in for! A special mention to Logan, our waiter for 10/10 service. The food was all incredible. Definitely try the Gumbo Ya Ya and the BBQ Shrimp. The jazz band that played at your table was also a lovely touch. Our favourite restaurant in New Orleans.
If I could give 10 stars I would. Amazing food. Kagnee was our server she was impeccable, the Pinot Noir was *chefs kiss* the gumbo, short ribs and bacon wrapped shrimp and grits were perfection! The cherry on top was the lemon ice box pie! I will dream about that pie FOREVER!
Our first meal in New Orleans and we're worried that all meals from now won't meet the standard that Mr B's has set. The deep fried Oysters, the shrimp and the Boudin sausage were amazing. Justine, our waitress, was great with the service and recommendations! The live band were great! A must go place!
My husband and I visited Mr. B’s Bistro to celebrate our anniversary, and the food was amazing! We tried the crab cakes, truffle fries, gumbo, soft shell crab, and duck spring rolls—everything was delicious. We were so impressed that we came back twice during the same trip with friends. Highly recommend it for great food and a memorable dining experience!
First of all, Cristina was wonderful such a joy. She gave us so much history about the Brennan family and the restaurant and New Orleans. This restaurant is a gem, fantastic menu options, creative with chef inspired unique options. This is a Restaurant that should be on your list anytime you go to New Orleans, as well as any of the restaurants in the Brennan family. We also learned that emeril Lagasse. Came out of the kitchen at the commander, which is another one of the Brennan restaurants. The drinks are fantastic and their selection of liquor is top shelf. At the end of the meal, don’t forget to ask for the blueberry bourbon sorbet it’s not on the desert menu and it will blow you away. Thank you. We will be back. PS make sure you make a reservation
This is place is GOOD. I got the bacon wrapped shrimp with grits and those grits were finger lickin good. Perfect seasoning and even better service. Our server, Maggie had to be the star of the show. Excellent service, and was very friendly and welcoming. But as you think you can’t get better than that you can. The live jazz band was the icing on the cake. That music was amazing while eating some authentic Lousiana food. Overall, I would give this place 6 stars but 5 was the max.
First time in NOLA. We hada a managers meeting this past week. This is the place our company chose to have dinner at. Everything we had wes excellent. 1st time trying Shrimp and Grits. It was really good. But the Duck Springrolls.....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Great staf and atmosphere. Definitely need to go there when I come back.
Got a recommendation from a random local to check this place out, and boy was it a great lead. He told us to sit at the bar and order the Gumbo Ya Ya and the crab cake. He forgot to add that the BBQ shrimp is the best meal in town. Food was tremendous. The bartender, John, was impeccable. I thought I was in a movie. Food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. I cannot believe this place is only 4.5 stars. The bar is a full five stars. Thank you random local who directed us here. I will definitely be back…and tell everyone I see that they need to eat here.
I have no words this was the BEST dining experience ever! Mr. B’s Bistro is now officially my new favorite stop in NOLA. I can't wait to tell everyone I know about it. The bartender was amazing, the staff was incredible, and the whole vibe just hit perfectly. We devoured the BBQ shrimp, a dirty martini, gumbo, and a crab cake. Every bite was unforgettable. I had the absolute best time and can’t wait to come back. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go you won’t regret it!
We had an amazing experience at Mr. B’s Bistro in New Orleans. From start to finish, every dish we ordered was full of bold, authentic flavor. The gumbo was rich and deeply seasoned, the perfect comforting start to our meal. The fried oysters were crisp on the outside and tender inside, showing off the freshness of the seafood. The crab cakes were packed with lump crab meat and lightly seasoned to let the ingredients shine. One of the highlights was the BBQ shrimp—served in a buttery, peppery sauce that was absolutely addictive (don’t skip the French bread to soak up every drop). The red snapper was fresh and perfectly cooked, with a delicate texture and a flavorful sauce that paired beautifully. We finished with a hearty jambalaya that was savory and satisfying, with just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive throughout. Mr. B’s is a true taste of New Orleans and a spot we’ll definitely return to.
Oh my gosh! I am from Arizona and the culture vibe is so different. We are in Louisiana this weekend because my daughter is touring LSU for her PhD! We decided to go to New Orleans for the day and stopped by Mr. B's because a young man in another town told us his dad worked here and we had to try it out. Not only is the food amazing ( definitely try either the shrimp and grits or the tuna and crawfish) the atmosphere is so lively and fun and all the servers are so friendly. Our server Jerick was one of the best servers I have EVER had anywhere!! He was so kind, funny, and very professional. He treated my daughter with so much respect and congratulated her on her accolades thus far. We could hear him talking to the other tables, and he treated them with just as much respect. We were seated by a waiter stand where they would wrap silverware and ring up guests and could hear how he treated his fellow co-workers and I was blown away by his charisma and kindness. I am not sure if your establishment has a head server or prime locations within wherr they prefer to be ststioned, but you should absolutely consider him for it if so. If we are ever back in the area, not only will we be back because of the food, but I will specifically ask for Jerick!
We had such an amazing time . The food was fantastic. We started with barbecued shrimp or appetizer add Caesar salad, gumbo and crabcakes for our dinner. Had delicious drinks. Everything was fantastic. Our waiter Jeremy was superb. He was so personable. We swap stories about our dogs saw pictures of his Doberman Phish and Blink and he saw photos of my pup Chloe. We had all the table interacting. This was such a great time. Jeremy thank you for such a great experience.
We love Mr. B's! We eat here when we are in New Orleans and we are never disappointed. This time I had the BBQ shrimp and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. We also had a chocolate cake for dessert. Yummy! Clarence was our waiter and he was absolutely the best. Great smile, great service and just a super great guy. He made our visit even better.
Mr. B’s is a solid French Quarter staple— usually a hit, occasionally a miss, but mostly memorable. I love grabbing a seat at the bar for a drink before heading across the street to Monteleone for a show. The service is consistently warm, and the ambiance is refreshingly calm and low-key. It’s the kind of spot that feels like a quiet exhale in the middle of the Quarter’s chaos.
Limpio, elegante 👌 pero sobre todo comidas con auténtico sabor. Todo delicioso
Otro lugar al que hace honor a su fama. Excelente comida, sazón y oferta.
Buenísimo.

Buen lugar
Delicioso!!!
The BEST barbecue shrimp I’ve ever had. Nothing bad to say about this place at all, we loved our server Steven, he was so kind and gave us the best recommendations. The truffle fries weren’t too oily and had great flavour, the classic gumbo was nice and warm and very hearty. The star of the show was definitely the barbecue shrimp, not too heavy but the sauce was delicious, buttery and peppery and just perfect. The bread pudding was a great dessert, I would definitely recommend coming here. A great memory for our New Orleans trip!
This was one of the best dining experiences of my life! Our server Terrence was very nice and accommodating! He was patient while I was deciding what to order when my whole table had already decided, and even recommended the honey glazed pork chop. I told him I also wanted gumbo ya ya because I'd neber had gumbo before, and he offered to bring me a "trial gumbo" in a little dish so I could try it. The gumbo was delicious and the pork chop was hands down the best I've ever had! Thank you Terrence and Mr. B's for the best dinner during my first New Orleans trip!
The most amazing meal I've ever had in NOLA. Our server, Steven, was amazing and had the best recommendations at every step of our dining experience from cocktails to dessert. He made us feel welcomed and made this dining experience special for us by checking on us regularly and sharing his knowledge of their menu and talented chefs. We both ordered the corn and lobster soup as suggested and it was delicious especially when paired with fresh crusty bread loaf which was presented in a bread bag which we thought was pretty cool so no one's hands touched the bread amd it stayed warm. We decided to share entrees and ordered the shrimp and grits as well as the beef shortib special. We both agreed the shortrib was stellar and fought over the last bite (seriously fought). We ordered the walnut cake for dessert and that did not disappoint. Our cocktails were also very well made. Service from beginning to end was fabulous. Overall, the food and drinks are amazing here. I loved it so much I immediately spread the word among fellow foodie vendors and colleagues attending our national legal education conference at the Hilton Riverside. Everyone I sent over loved Mr. B's too and shared byond the amazing shortrib they also tried the pork chop and seafood dishes and lemon ice box cake and bread pudding to rave reciews as well. I swear I tried my best to go one more time before leaving NOLA this week (which I never do repeats on a business trip) but will definitely be going back to Mr. B's Bistro before 2026 is over.
I came here to try the BBQ shrimp that I heard about and it did not disappoint. The sauce was absolutely delicious that I kept dipping more bread into it to soak it all up. The shrimp was a bit messy to eat but totally worth the effort. I did find the consistency of the shrimp not great as some shrimps were not cooked as well as others but it was overall still very good. I also tried the seafood gumbo which had a great color and flavor. They also have a great bloody Mary or margarita deal from Wednesday to Friday until 2pm where they are just $1.50 each!
Our group of 4 had an incredible dinner experience here! Two in our group had the pork chop and they were still raving about it the next day. I had the duck and it was the best duck I've had in a long time. The other guest in our group got the burger with the truffle fries and it was delicious as well. Our server (I wish I could remember his name) was amazing! Hos recommendations were spot on and his service was top notch. We will be returning here on our next visit to New Orleans.
We loved the whole experience although I would say the duck spring rolls were just not for us. The goat cheese was just way too over powering, but the sauce it was served with helped me get them down. The bbq shrimp sauce was so good it's crazy though. We enjoyed the free bread and butter while we waited. Bathrooms were very nice as well
The BBQ Shrimp was one of the best dishes I have ever had. It was steeped in tradition and you can tell everything was done the old-school way, no corners were cut in the sauce preparation. Deep flavors and fresh caught shrimp and generous portion sizes. My wife and I split an order and it was plenty for a light lunch , 10/10 Must try if you are looking for an amazing experience. Live old timy jaz music at lunch only added to the amazing atmosphere. Our server Bryan was just the right blend of attentive and helpful. All and all DON NOT MISS THIS PLACE!
Very modern, elegant environment. The balsamic used is the salad was the most tasty I've had for a while. Both the fish and duck entrées were very good. You have the same wait staff throughout the meal, which is not always the case in New Orleans. The price certainly reflected the quality.
Went in for thanksgiving lunch and was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar. Great atmosphere, food and service. Emeril was holding court at a corner table and Cindy Brennen said hi at our end if the bar. I had seafood gumbo and the grilled red fish. Wife had the gumbo ya ya and barbecue shrimp. Everything was delicious and the staff was awesome.
I had not been to Mr Bs in over 10 years. I came back for the barbecue shrimp and pecan pie. The shrimp was amazing, I had to order more bread to enjoy the rest of the sauce. If they just offered the sauce with bread as an appetizer, I would orderit every time. And the pecan pie was delicious. I was a happy fat kid.
The duck spring rolls were delicious and the barbecue shrimp was good too. The sauce was the best part. Table service was in full swing but I was able to find a spot at the bar. The bartenders were great and it was still an experience even while sitting at the bar top. Will definitely be back!
Visited Mr. B’s for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! We arrived early since we couldn’t get a reservation, and the staff kindly seated us at the bar so we could enjoy a lovely cocktail while we waited. We started with a bowl of gumbo and then had the grilled BBQ shrimp as our entrée, loved the addition of the bib! And of course, we finished with their famous chocolate cake. Already looking forward to returning!
So we weren't able to actually sit at a table because they don't serve at the tables between lunch and dinner. Which is a bit odd, because it's at New Orleans, and people eat and drink at all different times of the day. So we had to sit at the bar and only could choose from a smaller menu. Which was very disappointing. It looked like a very nice place. Our bartender was average. It was odd because I got soup. But the person next to me also got the same soup and they gave them bread, but not me. Even when I commented he still didn't give me bread. The soup was delicious and we really liked our meal. The drinks were okay. I would definitely try again and have lunch/ dinner at an actual table.
Have had wonderful meals here in the past. Was really excited about ordering the Gumbo YaYa. Taste was outstanding but very little meat, no chicken a two small pieces of sausage. Same for Seafood Gumbo. Three tiny shrimp, no crabmeat or okra. Bbq Shrimp was outstanding. Kirk was a fantastic server.
Food was simple but superb. Service was poor. Our waiter, Terrrence (or Gumbo as we called him), had a personality bypass. No smiles, no chat, no friendliness. On top of this, zero waiter skills. Poured the wine for my wife first then a small amount for me to taste and as soon as I had and before I had said anything, he filled the glass. Food was served leaning over one person to serve another and unceremoniously dumped in front of us. It is a strange restaurant, as it pertains to be higher class but has basic glasses and service. The prices however are high so a strange mismatch. We loved the food and that was important. Changes need to be made however to the training of the waiting staff. As a Brit, we like to tip for outstanding service and of course in the US it is expected that we tip to subsidise wages regardless. Hard to swallow anyway but especially when service is not great.
We visited New Orleans for 3 days. On our last night we were so tired we just chanced it and walked into this restaurant without doing any research like I usually do. The restaurant was full which is always a good sign. And I strat with the food: it was simply amazing! Cannot fault it! Beautiful flavours! Loved every bit of it. The waiter is what ruined it for us a bit. We don’t expect much but we felt like we are the greatest inconvenience for him, felt like a quick diner service, not smiled once, the food was ‘quickly dumped’ and off he went… Not good enough for a restaurant like this! And usually a custom in Europe is to tip ( at your discretion) for an amazing service. Here is expected regardless: good or bad . We respect, that is what you do but it feels so wrong to tip someone for bad service!
This is one of those reviews if I could do 4.5 stars I would. I was staying just down the block from Mr B’s and decided to stop in for a drink and to order some food to take back to my room. I sat at the bar and had a drink while I waited for my order of gumbo ya ya and bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. Very cool place inside with an old school steakhouse feel with a lot of dark wood and white tablecloth’s. Location is just steps off Bourbon Street. Bar area is not very big but the service is top notch. This place is always busy for a reason. Food took about 15 minutes to be packed and ready to go. This isn’t the cheapest place for sure. I was close to $100 with my meal and 1 drink at the bar. Shrimp and grits was very good. It came with red eye gravy which put it over the top. Photo doesn’t look great because it moved around when I was walking back to room. The gumbo wasn’t my favorite. It might be I’m just not a big gumbo person. It almost tasted a little scorched to me, like the roux went a little too far. It could just be me though. The shrimp and grits plus the service and atmosphere make this one of the better places in the FQ. Don’t hesitate to give them a try.
Excelente servicio la comida la esperana mejor! 8 calificación
Mixed review for sure. The BBQ shrimp is 5 stars, contemplated going back for a snack one day. The shrimp and grits, grits were good but the shrimp was over cooked, likely due to the bacon wrapped around it. Grouper serving was small for the price (we ate a lot of fish during the trip so feel this is fair when comparing similar tier places). Cocktails were good. Atmosphere was good, service very friendly.
Had dinner here last night. 3 of us with a very small medical service dog. We started with drinks at the bar while waiting to be seated. The drinks were actually fantastic and bartender was engaging. Upon getting seated at our table, a manager approached and told us that we could not have any animals in the restaurant. I very calmly explained that it was a medical alert service animal. He responded that it didn't matter and that the dog would have to be placed on the floor. I continued to inform him that this dog is a specialty service animal for true medical emergency alerts and needed to stay in very close contact with the owner. He told us that if it was properly trained that it should be just fine on the floor or we would need to leave. KEN TERRIO is his name. (BTW, i will be consulting our lawyers this week concerning the legality of his actions) We complied, stayed and ordered immediately upon being seated. 1 hr later we are flagging down our server to ask about our food. Not once during this time food our waiter approach, ask to refill drinks, nor update us about our food. It did finally arrive, the gumbo had good flavor but was mostly rue. The duck spring rolls were delightful. The snapper (ordered medium rare) was cooked perfectly and the flavor was perfection. So... food is good. Service is questionable. Management is terrible.
The mixed drinks were not made properly so they weren’t very good. We got the duck appetizer and the pear salad. I would not recommend either. The duck eggrolls had too much feta and it overpowered the taste. The pear salad was rather bland. We had the Anne Amie Pinot noir which was very good with dinner. I had the BBQ shrimp and grits which were very good, my husband had the chicken, which he found to be just ok- too much broth was added to the plated portion. The desserts were also very good- loved the King cake and my husband really enjoyed the white chocolate brownie. Our server was good, but clearly over taxed- maybe some folks called out sick? She did her best and we could see that. The restaurant was just OK in my opinion, but in fairness, this could have just been an off night. I see it has received many other positive reviews.
I was told this was the best gumbo. It wasn't. It was good though. The food was good, it wasn't great. With all the food experiences that I've had in NOLA I wasn't blown away. Why go here when there is Brennans or Commanders? Or Bayona? Our waiter was so funny, helpful and made our visit.
Sat at the bar. Our waiter was nice. Drinks were great. But we waited over an hour for our food. And when I got my short rib it wasn't hot or even warm. My husband's barbecue shrimp was Slightly over cooked. And for what we paid. I was really disappointed.
It was okay. I think the service is WAY too slow and the food is WAY overpriced. The jambalaya was indeed tasty, I liked the noodles in the dish, but again it was just overpriced. The crab cake- good, but small portion for the price. Again service was annoyingly SLOW. Ended up paying over $100 for only 2 entrees and 1 drink. They charged $4.50 to split the jambalaya. And we waited FOREVER. We had a reservation as well. Won't be back on the next trips to New Orleans.
Ate here for a Sunday jazz brunch. Had a reservation. It was very busy. The restaurant is nice and it was decorated for Christmas. The food, drinks, and service were not as great. Our waiter was very slow tending to our table. It took a long time to get a drink order, then a long time to order our food. The bloody Mary I had was the worst one I have ever drank. There was no seasoning in it. It was like tomato flavored water. Some of the food was cold by the time we received it. The waiter than came and collected plates without asking if people were finished with their food. It was a nice restaurant but I doubt that I will return. There are other options.
Attended Lundi Gras lunch- was told the martini special would be available when making reservation. When our party arrived our server was flippant in his response as if we were all tourists and how we would never of been able to make a reservation if they had the martini special. 5 of us were locals... we've dined there several times. It was a rude response. Our server then continued to fumble our entire meal... cold entrees, forgotten soup/salad course- never arrived and still charged. We had large lapses in the timing of our meal and drink orders. Overall service was lacking. However reservations and management team were great. Excellent welcome, attentive when we had an issue, and also held on to my sunnies when I left them behind. Kind & congenial management at the podium. Hopeful for a better service and dining experience next time.
I researched well before our trip and booked a lunch reservation at Mr. B's Bistro. Atmosphere was lovely; very busy but not too noisy. Our experience food-wise was a bit mixed. The warm bread and butter was lovely as was the cocktail I ordered. My husband got the seafood jambalaya pasta which was delicious. I ordered seafood gumbo that was basically black beans, rice and a couple pieces of okra -- no seafood to speak of (I think I detected a few strands of crab meat but that's it.) I also ordered the beet salad which was pretty standard. Overall, I was disappointed for the amount we were charged for an unsatisfying meal.
Nice atmosphere and excellent service from our server Joshua, but our bowl & gumbo entree and two orders of BBQ shrimp were served barely warm. The fresh oysters, however, were amazing and we ordered another half dozen after our first dozen. My husband's old fashion was also delicious!! Sadly we received no special recognition, even though I noted in our reservation that we were celebrating a 60th anniversary and a 59th birthday.
A evitar.
We went to this bistro two evenings in a row because it is close to our hotel. The first night we had grilled fish and salad, plus cocktails. The food was good, the portion of fish was fine. We were seated at the back of the restaurant, to the right of the entrance, and the noise was so overwhelming that my husband and I could not even talk to each other. The service was polite but very minimal. We were still hungry but decided not to order anything else just to escape the noise. On the second night, we ordered a salad, fish gumbo, and pork chops. The salad arrived immediately, but the fish gumbo and pork arrived after 1 hour and 20 minutes. The fish gumbo was bitter—so much so that it was inedible. The pork was well cooked, but a bit too sweet. The service was inattentive, and the absence of a maître d’ is noticeable. The place was frantic and extremely crowded, and that fish gumbo should have not been served. We will not return.
