Fun, loud, intimate atmosphere. Great for small groups. If you like booze forward cocktails, I'd highly reccomend trying the Private Eyes!

This cocktail bar is easy to walk by in the midst of 23rd Street's busy intersection with 3rd Avenue. The whiskey/bourbon collection is impressive and the small space is cozy, yet not cramped. Tables in the back are perfect for larger groups, and be sure to order the potato chips which come nacho-style, piled high and with tangy blue cheese. The service is fast and reliable, too!

An unbeatable cocktail bar since the day it opened, Ampersand has added a touch of (unpretentious) class to the neighborhood. Great staff, awesome light food options, and an always impressive arsenal of cocktails and drinks, I'm yet to have anything less than a stellar experience in here.

OMG this is the place to be on a Saturday evening, I had beer last night but the cocktails looked so delicious, my date had the white bean dip and mushroom tacos , I ordered the lamb burger and was not disappointed, service was on point! Will definitely come back to try some cocktails

Came here with my friend for drinks and dinner. I got the old fashioned and we split the white bean dip, mushroom tacos, and veggie burger. Everything was delish!! And I loved the old fashioned also. I only wish we showed up a little earlier for the happy hour!

Ampersand is one of those rare places where you walk in and the door closes and the rest of the city kind of disappears. It’s so intimate, it’s a jazzy crowd with a deep bench of experts behind the Bar and on staff. Julian is a master of his craft and takes care of his customers- new and returning. I asked for hot sauce and he made sure to get me the one with less sugar that would compliment my tacos better- obviously I ordered a second round. Really just a hidden gem and I make sure to stop bye every time I’m in the East 20s. Good date spot, good spot to bring visiting friends who was to feel like locals, just a good, good spot.

Moved into the area recently (abt 2 mos of this writing) and found this spot. Extremely good cocktail menu. Known for that. A buddy in hospitality also told me about it so many in the industry also seem to hang out there. Expect appropriate prices as well to go along with the high end cocktails. (As it should be!) Great service. Staff had been there for a while. Definitely has a date type feel to it. Not a happy hour type place. Food is also REALLY good. Definitely a plus. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite bars in NYC. The location has a surprising amount of seating for such a small bar. The staff are all great. They have a good beer and wine list as well as a great cocktail menu. It's the perfect neighborhood bar for meeting a few friends. They also have a good happy hour menu and surprisingly good food.

Ampersand is a nice cocktail bar with some creative cocktails and excellent food. The bar has friendly bartenders, the ambience is intimate but not so much that you'd feel it's a date place only. It definitely isn't. There are so many cocktails to choose from. I am sure you'll find one you like. The food was expertly prepared. You don't normally rave about shoestring fries, but these fries were cooked so crispy that it took on potato chip qualities while also still being a fry. So damn good! All and all this is a great place, one worth visiting and a great experience!

Small bar with great seating for groups serves really tasty typical bar food. Lamb burger is great but the traditional burger is amazing. Guacamole is really excellent. Great music not too loud, and the crowd is light. Good spot for drinks and a conversation. Really like this place for dinner!

This place is fantastic! My bestie and I were in NYC for an end of summer trip and found this place by accident on our way back to the hotel. The atmosphere is very chill and inviting. The staff is awesome. I loved talking with our bartender and just enjoying some beautifully crafted drinks. Definitely check it out.

Been coming here for 8 years , day it opened. By far the most consistent quality cocktails in Chelsea (just) ..or city IMHO. Julian and now Coffee ( new guy who I hung with tonight) are true mixologists. Having just returned frombtoo many European cities to mention (exception of London) an DC, Baltimore, Raleigh, etc tour. This place makes me as happy as my basement, and that is another story.

Do you want a cool cocktail in a dark, hip, quiet space? Are you wondering where to take a first date for a casual drink and maybe an appetizer? This place is perfect as far as my experiences have gone. The prices may be a little steeper than some other places in the area, but it's in the quality of the drinks that that concern goes away. I haven't had better cocktails in the area that is this accessible and this well priced. (They even make the completely transparent ice cubes for the rocks drinks, a very cool effect)

The craft cocktails are fantastic some even including house made ingredients. The atmosphere was also great with cozy seating at small tables or around the bar. The chips and guacamole was also delicious. I highly recommend this for a cute date spot or catching up with friends.

Perfectly lit space to tuck into for an excellent cocktail. We wanted a dimly lit, moody space to kick off our visit to Manhattan - this place nailed it. The classic gin martini and the black Manhattan were primo.

Great burger. Owners are really cool but the service is not stellar when they get packed (understandable). The drinks are always good and that's what matters most. I don't hang out in the Union Square area a lot but at least I have a go to bar now.

This bar is right next to our hotel so we figured we go grab a few cocktails. Although very packed the bartenders noticed us and got us menus right away. The cocktails were wonderful, perfectly crafted. We loved the atmosphere and the liveliness of the Bar. We will be back.

The burger-burger was delicious as well as the "I'll have another" which is similar to a mint Julep but with extra fruit. Bells two-hearted ale on draft was a pleasant surprise. Bartender was friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and easy to hold a conversation without having music blaring. Overall a great find!

We stopped in here for drinks before our dinner reservation. The place was very busy on a Friday night (to be expected), and we were immediately greeted by our waiter. They were attentive and kind, and had a warm demeanor about them that is hard to come by in this city. The drinks were incredible and although we didn’t eat here the aromas coming off of others people tables wish we had stuck around for dinner. P.S. can we talk about the pricing?! 😍

I came here for a few drinks on a Monday night. Wasn't that crowded around 7pm, but it got busier later on. Cocktails were creative and tasted good. Recommend if you want a nice place that isn't too loud. Great place, would return.

Always an amazing magical type of time here. The ambulance is unnatural and everyone's so amazing. Don't sleep in the cocktails. Try things you never wouldn't normally have, you won't be disappointed.

Stumbled into this place late at night, after the first place we went to dinner was closed. From what I remember (ha) the ambiance was lovely and service quick. I thought the wine was just fine but my date thought it too sweet.

Ampersand bar had a nice atmosphere, plenty of young people and good music. Drinks are reasonable and very quickly maid, and the bartenders are quite attentive. It was however very hot even in April with very little air, or air conditioning to be found.

Cocktails are lovely and when I went there at 6pm on a rainy Saturday night it was not packed but had a decent crowd. Got a table no problem. Ambience is lovely for a cold winters day with low yellow light. The cocktails were well made and reasonably priced.

This review is for drinks/late-night only. I've yet to try the food (although I want to!). They have a very diverse cocktail menu and something for everyone. Not to mention, they are yummy! We walked in with a group late on Saturday night and easily found a place to sit. It was a fun crowd but we could also easily have a conversation without shouting over others. Have gone back since and will continue to go back! Hidden gem on 3rd!

A good place for a late night bite and drink... cauliflower bites, and all the tacos were good. Price was OK, too. Probable the thing I loved the most was the service since it was unexpected to see someone so attentive and smiling at that time of the night.

Nice little bar in Gramercy. I visited on a Monday night and it was pretty crowded. The White Negroni was on point, although there were not many innovative drinks. I'll probably try it another time.

A steady four This establishment is good, however, there are several points on which the owners may wish to improve. For starters, the continued use of QR codes. It may horrify the owners of this bar to learn that, despite what you read on CNN, the Covid pandemic is, in fact, over. As such, nothing less than paper menus will do. And I don’t want to hear any carping about the environment from people who live in a city where the paper straw is practically legend. Second, the ceiling. I understand that Celia in the flat above loves a good bath, but the dangerously warped ceilings she has produced pose a real danger to customers. I would recommend a quick repair job, before the rafters fall on some unsuspecting guest - resulting in legal action and, eventually, the closure of this establishment. Someone may also want to potter around and replace the QR codes, several of which are faded and frayed - making them now impossible to use (a photo of one such code I attach). Overall, a lovely bar and I look forward to my next visit. Shame, however, about the oversight of the little details that can really make a place shine.

Although the cocktails were okay (nothing more than that), the service was awful. Whenever the female server seemed to realize we were not locals, we were treated with a lack of respect. The atmosphere is nice, but I would avoid this cocktail bar the next time and so should you.

Just had a terrible experience here. My fully vaccinated wife was denied entry after providing her ID and CDC vax card by a rude young staff person who claims the bar does not serve patrons who have only a Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Won't be visiting again and will be filing a complaint with the City.

We had a fairly large group so this review may be misleading. We wanted to sit in an area towards the front where multiple tables were available but were shown to a single table with 2 seats. I'm not sure why we were seated there. We all got one drink and decided to leave. When we passed by the seats we originally wanted to be seated, they were occupied by very few people. Odd to say the least.

Sat outside and the unfortunate, awful element overpowering my group's experience was the nauseating stench of dog urine. I ordered a classic margarita on the rocks and was served a spicy margarita. Mmm okay. It took so long I couldn't send it back for fear of not getting a drink for too long. It was okay, so ordered a second. Huge pet peeve: different drink - another margarita with different, cheaper tequila. Can't stand inconsistent drinks; and paying for the same cocktail with well liquor.

I spilled my drink and the waitress was super rude. Not only did she not replace the drink, but she came back to the table with the check, which was not asked for. Spills happen- quality places will bring u a new drink. I have never been somewhere that gives attitude and doesnt even ask if u want something else. There are so many places in this neighborhood, i wont go back to a place like that. Nothing special - so u might want to train staff better on how to treat customers. My friend said something to the waitress and she responded that i had “just stumbled to the bathroom”. People are allowed to pee, maybe admit when you are wrong?

I came into the bar last night to meet my friend and didn't even get acknowledged by the women bartender. She seemed inebriated but acknowledged the other people at the bar with full drinks but ignored my friend and I. My friend had already gotten a drink before I met up with her but noted that she also had to wait over 5 minutes to be acknowledged, as the bartender took care of her friends and other guests. It was a weird vibe and we were the only two POCs, which made it very odd, to say the least.
