Good dim sum food at reasonable price. The servers were friendly. Service was reasonably fast. The steam glutinous rice and Cha Sao Bao were really good. The fried carrot cake was a little soft. We also had dumplings for takeout.
BBQ Boneless Ribs Lettuce Song (ask them not to fry the lettuce) (favorite) Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs Sesame Seaweed Roll Sichuan Beef Five Meats Appetizer Sampler Cumin Lamb Mango Pudding Have spent a lot of time here for more than a decade. The food is unexpectedly and consistently outstanding. The service is swift from the time you order. Buy so much to take home to last about two weeks while still going there on my lunch hour of work. Stop by when you can, often as you can. ( My suggestions above, enjoy )
This is my absolute FAVE SPOT in Chinatown for Veg Chinese! I always go for lunch when I’m in the area and the staff is so sweet! Best dishes/dim sum IMO are the BBQ Meat Fried Rice, Sesame Chicken, Pan Fried Buns & Curry Dumplings. Chicken Chow Fun looks great too. Every meal comes with a pot of tea and the portions are very generous. Fun to come with a group and try lots of different things.
Amazing place if you’re vegetarian and looking for a good Chinese meal. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and tastes delicious- the chicken lo mein was a favorite for my friends and I. If you are gluten free, the waitress will give you a separate menu and will let you know if what was ordered is GF or not. The BBQ meat was also very tasty and had a lovely texture, and you must get the beef buns.
I cannot praise the chefs and servers of Bodhi enough for their delicious cuisine and attentive service. The taste and texture of the plant protein served in many of their dishes bears a striking resemblance to meat. All of the servers are great; in particular a friendly woman named Christine always makes our experience memorable. Prices are reasonable considering the quality, and their daily lunch specials are a bargain.
Being gluten free and vegetarian, I can so rarely have any Chinese food, let alone dim sum. It was so delightful and delicious to be able to have so many menu items!! Such a wonderful meal and shockingly affordable, too. (So used to the huge up charge for food that I can eat!) Can't wait to return.
My toddler daughter and I have been coming here for a few years now. I grew up in Brooklyn but moved about a decade ago. I wish I had been going here longer but now its a new tradition between her and I. I'll be honest as a NYer a chef and a vegetarian since 2012, this place is amazing. It is extremely hard to find a restaurant that makes outstanding food, while keeping it affordable and authentic. And since I know how hard it is to make fantastic things happen (so many chefs are against it because they don't know how to cook) I can say, I absolutely love it here. We got the sesame chicken which is reminds me of sweet n sour chicken and of course our favorite, the roast pork buns! The service is always outstanding!! My toddler behaves because of how well the staff treats her. This is a huge plus! Yes, there is a service fee, which all of Chinatown has been doing for at least the last 20 years but the service is so great, that I always make sure to tip on top of it. We will be coming back next September. Looking forward to it. Highly recommend! I would add photos but they have my daughter in them.
Delicious dumplings and Dim Sum and all were vegan or vegetarian! The gluten free menu is also super helpful. One big note: Do keep asking about which items are safe for your food allergies. Staff were wonderful. I had to take off one point for service because the plates weren't marked as gluten free, the staff didn't announce which plates were gf when they delivered food and it became hard to keep track after a while. It would be helpful to add allergen toothpicks to their dishes.
Excellent 👌 for vegan/ vegetarian I highly recommend this place in Chinatown on Mulberry road and Canal. I was with 3 others and we ordered at least 7 dishes and shared all of them, house special mixed vegetables, dim sum, vegetables fried rice, curried noodles and more. Everything was excellent, and delicious 🤤 I went back a second time and when I return to my acupuncturist at 139 canal by Manhattan Bridge and next to Buddist temple I will go here every time I visit NYC from MI
Yes, this is the full name of the restaurant. Yes, everything on the menu really is vegetarian and kosher, which has a really nice change if you’re that person always looking for the vegetarian option on the menu because everything is safe—it’s all made with meat replacements like seitan. This place has been one of my favorites for years, and it’s the perfect place to go with friends because of the dim sum menu: just check off what you want on the dim sum menu (which conveniently categorizes the options as small, medium and large plates), and you’ll have your food quickly with ample refills of green tea. Consider this place your sweet retreat at lunch if you’re called for jury duty in Manhattan, but it’s also a very popular casual dining spot for a low-key dinner at a good price.
The lunch menu provides incredible value for money! Small soup, main and green tea. All superb. Friendly service, good portions and so many interesting vegan options! I had the veg meats and basil sauce with brown rice as my main and loved it. It was very busy but there were a lot of spaces and service was very quick despite the popularity.
First time encountering a vegetarian spot in Chinatown. Completely blown away by the flavors of each dish. The BBQ meat will wow even the biggest critics of vegetarian/vegan food. Whole time while eating the group kept saying If vegetarian dishes this tasty were available everywhere we'd never eat meat again!
a must try for vegan dim sum in nyc! i came here on a sunday with no reservation and they found space for us despite it being quite busy. the menu is very extensive and it is so hard to choose which dishes you want. we ordered the xiao long bao, shrimp dumpling, char shui bao, and crispy duck. everything was delicious! the service was lovely and the food was so cheap considering how much you get - definitely the cheapest vegan meal i had on my nyc trip. i really recommend this place and can't wait to come back
Food was pretty okay. Service was very rushed as well. We got the noodles and soup dumplings and regular dumplings. Soup Dumplings were very questionable and had a very off taste. Dumplings were very good, noodles were quite good as well. Would recommend to try out some of their dishes, good experience for vegetarian/vegans. Would come again.
8.5 out of 10 Highly recommend this place to everyone, I’m vegetarian and I appreciate having a great variety of dishes to choose from. My boyfriend is not a vegetarian and he also loved all the food here. Dumplings were delicious, and both main courses positively surprised us. Very good price considering the quality of the food and the size of the dishes. Service is good and quick. Definitely, I would come back to this place.
Was in the Big Apple for a charity event for a long weekend. Reddit users highly recommended this place, so I thought I’d give it a try. We were seated immediately and the restaurant felt very clean, albeit a bit dated/tired. Who cares, though, right? So long as the food is good. That’s my usual motto. The service throughout the entire meal was very good. Servers were incredibly attentive. We had dumplings and the servers would open the baskets already on our table to serve us, so we didn’t have to do it ourselves. Very kind and hospitable. The food was good overall. This is an all vegan menu of different Chinese classics. The sesame chicken with broccoli and rice was the best thing I ordered. The dumplings were also good, but the dough was a tad gummy, or glue-like. Not my favorite to be honest. The menu is HUGE so it helps to look ahead of time if you’re the type to be indecisive or overwhelmed by option lol. If you’re vegan or just curious, I’d recommend you give this place a try!
