I wish I had a pic of my sandwiches to post but I ate them all. Loved every bite. The bread was so fresh. Highly highly recommend it. Pig & Egg pork belly sandwich. Sausage Egg Cheese: beef Merguez

M
Martin Landgreve

I’m a Viking who’s lived in NYC for 10+ years, throughout which NY burgers have been a religion for me. C&B is now my favorite NYC burger spot🙏🏽

L
Leshya Bracaglia

Sooooo delicious. Everything here is amazing, food is so creative, and flavorful. As said by another reviewer, I love that you can get a turkish breakfast as well as a muffin or a sausage egg and cheese. They have a great variety of food all day. And the coffee is delicious!!

J
Juliana “Caju” Monteiro

Amazing music. Excellent service. The food is insanely good. Best if to-go.

D
Daniel Klein

C&B is straight fire. The merguez sausage, egg and cheese sandwich is the best breakfast sandwich I've had in my life. Great outdoor seating and right next to the park... it is a neighborhood staple. Don't think twice about going.

A
Adrian Parsons

Wonderful staff, coffee quality, and food options across pastries and made-to-order sandwiches. Unexpected for a small space: good vinyl, a good amp, with all classics and "no compilations" played. Wonderful spot.

N
Natasha Isakova

Super nice & Cody discovery for a great coffee and a variety of breakfasts from all over the world 👌🏻

C
Charlie Bryan

Food is unbelievable and, while simple, has incredible depth. Everything at C&B is perfect. The music, the staff, the art, the smells..I love it all. And those POTATOES I mean c'mon. I'm not a regular church goer so the chicken & eggs is the closest thing I get to a religious experience. I love this place.

a
atmane2000

What a great place. The staff is super nice and helpful, the bread and pastries are top notch. Breakfast sandwiches prepared before your eyes. My go to every day for a croissant and grandma cookie.

M
Melanie Chalupa

Super tasty cozy little alphabet city spot. Stumbled across C&B and tried the lablabi - unreal, great vegetarian option with amazing flavors. I have tried the chicken and egg bowl as well and it was delicious. Coffee looks great but have yet to try it. Fresh indgidients over all and friendly staff!

A
Arthur Wu

This is the best place in the world (ok - maybe Manhattan). Food is incredible. Having tried almost everything, my favorites are the curry & egg bowl, the chicken + lemon + avocado sandwich, and the pig sandwich. Everything else comes as an extremely close second. Folks usually get in and out within 45 mins - 1 hr, but space is still tight. It's just a great to get the food and enjoy in Tompkins Square Park right across the street.

Z
Zach Trunsky

Hidden cafe but has some of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The Chorizo sandwich is insane, and the coffee is good too. Doing a good take out business during the pandemic as well.

J
John Riley

Can't say enough good things about Ali & crew. C&B embodies the best of the East Village. Excellent coffee, breakfast sandwiches, but the standout is Ali's love for baking. I pickup sourdough once a week (and usually ask for neighborhood recs!)

J
Josh Zignego

Bomb egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a super fresh roll. The roll is kind of sourdough kind of ciabatta and super delicious!

T
Tj D

A real chill place with nice vinyl music playing in the background. I only got here a single espresso, but I have to say it's one of the best espressos I got here in the city

C
Christopher B.

A "not-so-hidden" gem in a storybook part of the neighborhood. Best coffee, best breakfast! Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh they even make their own sausage and craft every piece of DELICIOUS dough in the place! Seriously, this is "your pastry shop's, Pastry Shop", Something you'll wanna write home about. And I recommend absolutely every savory dish on the menu, your tastebuds and Soul will thank you! So stop by C&B and see what time it is, be reminded you're not the only human left on the planet! Thanks to Ali and his team's unwavering hospitality, And wait till you meet the handsome gardner who ALSO makes a mean Americano! 🤌🏼⚘️😉

S

An alphabet city icon and some of the best breakfast eats in NYC, in my opinion. All of their egg sandwiches are out of this world, and they are really good at baking. They also play some really cool vinyl jams day and have a great vibe

b
ben miller

C&B has the best sandwiches and baked goods in the area. The coffee and teas are also extremely good. The egg sandwiches are the absolute star of the show. This place supplies all the other coffee shops, that’s how good they are. Croissants and Koin Aman are my personal favs. Gets crowded on the weekends so plan ahead. Take your treats to Tompkins for maximum enjoyment.

C
Colin Targonski

Chorizo egg sandwich and the cheesesteak on the baguette are great for lunch. Cannot go wrong with any of the baked items of the day. Friendly staff, sometimes have a jazz trio playing on the weekends

K
Kyle Hamilton

Amazing Breakfast Egg Sandwiches with or without the pork belly. Great Iced Lattes and I had the chopped Salad that was way better than Sweet Green. Nice Patio where you can usually get a spot if you're solo or party of 2

B
Barry Uy

Probably the high end best breakfast sandwich I’ve had. The egg, ham and cheese with watercress is really good. The pig and egg is great but very rich.

A
Amy G

Absolutely bangin breakfast sandwiches - might be my new favorite. There was a line but moved pretty quick. I got the chorizo sandwich and my friend got the pig&egg, both incredible. The bread, the meat, the eggs, all perfect. Will definitely be back to try everything!! I get the feeling everything here is good.

P
Pete O'Connell

Love C&B. Best breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the east village. It's a small spot, so sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. Always consistent and a lovely staff. And the chicken sandwich is a freakin' masterpiece

J
Julia Sienski

The sausage egg and cheese is amazing and so is the lemon chicken sandwich! Would definitely get both again. The only thing is the wait is deceptively very long. We waited 2 minutes to put in our order and about 15-20 for it to be ready. At least you can tell it’s fresh!

R
Rosie Mandel

employees are super nice, owner is there all the time and bakes his OWN ROLLS, which are probably the best in the city. the breakfast sandwiches are heavenly, if not on the heavy side-- great for mornings when you need a fluffy, buttery helping of scrambled eggs with a soft yet hearty slice of pork (pig and egg sandwich, 10/10 recommended). you will not be disappointed.

r

This is the best place in the WORLD! The egg sandwhich, the kale salad and coffee are all amazing. I refuse to have breakfast and lunch anywhere else!!!

J
Jimmy

food was unforgettable, you can see the chef putting is hart on the plate, I feel like i'm lucky to eat that kind of food

W

Just grab your coffee … take a delicious pain au chocolat and sit for a while at Tompkins Square Park …

F
Fritz Bacon

This is the best coffee shop hands down in East Village. Not only does the cold brew give you the kick you need to get the day started, the staff are the coolest people. Over the years I have gotten to know everyone who works there and chatting with them between meetings is always the highlight of my day. If you need coffee you gotta check this place out and if you’re hungry it’s a no brained to come here and grab a sandwich. Also their pastries are handmade and go off.

W
Will Jackson

Had the pig and egg breakfast sandwich and it was fantastic. Can eat in the park across the street if it’s nice.

L
Lauren Wingkun

We’ve been coming to C&B for years, and they never disappoint! Our favorites are the egg and cheese sandwich, cilbir (my personal fave), and eggs and curry. Not to mention the pastries are to die for. Keep up the good work, C&B!

J
Jeff Flora

Amazing egg and cheese sandwich, turkey and chocolate donuts always on point

R
Riley Hamilton

An adorned review on the wall read “the kind of coffee shop you wish you had in your neighborhood..”, was absolutely correct. The chef is Turkish, giving this breakfast cafe a unique flair of its own. Not many breakfast places can you find lamb, Turkish style eggs, classic sandwiches and a variety of pastries on the same menu. Great try 👌🏼

T
Trevor Ristow

Incredible food, great casual atmosphere. The food for dinner is similar to what you would get at an upscale French restaurant in midtown: high cuisine, creative, super fresh. Breakfast and brunch is just out of this world. And everything is sourced fresh from farmers markets or made the same morning you eat it: sausage patties, bread, etc., all made right there. One of the neighborhood's best restaurants.

G
Gernot Wagner

Café expands, takes over store next door and keeps the "Dry Cleaner" sign above the door. Doesn't get more Tompkins Square (or New York) than that. Egg sandwich with avocado, grilled cheese with caramelized onions, and the (vegetarian) soup of the day, all amazing!

T
Tyler Demmerle

Very hip spot the food was delicious from the egg ham and cheese sandwich to the pastries and the classic americano coffee highly suggest if you are around Tompkins sq park

t
travis maki

This place rips! great bread and killer sandwhiches. The scrambled egg and pork belly was literally Michellin tier, cannot believe i got something like that from a bakery. This will definitely become one of my regular spots.

J
Juan Gutierrez

This place is ridiculously delicious!!! Tiny shoebox of a space with a line pouring down the block for good reason. Every detail great. Bread is soft, spongy inside, hard crust perfection, and warm. Eggs are creamy, yummy, healthy. Cheese melts, gooey, tasty. Chorizo patty tastes spicy and like straight Mexico in your mouth. Plus coffees to nourishingly slap you awake. C&B is with all the hype. Plus Corbin is the man, tell him hi when you go there

M
Maya Martin-Udry

Best coffee in the neighborhood, sweeties staff, tastyyyyy breakfast, stellar pastries. Impossible to resist. Get the kouign-amann

S

Probably one of my all time favourite meals in New York. I keep trying something different on their menu and nothing disappoints. Great coffee and spectacular food!

R
Robert Kingston

Always love spending time here with friends. I did have some dates also.

M
Michael Newman

Soy matcha latte & decaf coffee. all the sandwiches come on baguettes

J
JC

Some good music spinning, a very good dark hot chocolate, friendly staff, cool place. And more importantly the food is awesome guys! I tried the chicken sandwich and the Cilbir bowl. Cilbir bowl is interestingly mixing Turkish yogurt and poshed eggs. The chicken sandwich is my favourite: good balance between lemon juice and avocado, the bread is great and the chicken moist and tasty.

P
Peter Rothstein

Absolutely a gem in the east village.

Z
Zeena Lattouf Joy

A reliably delicious and filling sandwich every time. My favorites are the turkey and chicken

m
marcos olivera

Best bread and croissants in town. love the sandwiches

S
Sam Taylor

Bijou and busy. Empty when I got there and packed when I left. Good sign as it's well used by the locals. Breakfast bowls worth a try.

A
Alexis Sabbaghian

Love this place — can’t recommend enough! The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. I come here every weekend for the grilled cheese!

D
Damien B

This bakery has the best bread in NYC. It has all kind of different bread options but also focaccias, pastries and good coffee. The owner Ali and his team are dedicated and passionate and you can taste it in their products made with love. The sandwiches egg sandwich selection is out of this world. They have an incredible vinyl selection that creates a cool chill vibe where the staff chooses the music according to their mood of the day. In other words highly recommended, a must when in NYC. Keep it up C&B! 🤍 🖤

K
Koby Ofek

I actually just had the cilbir which is a dish containing a lot of yogurt, some chili oil, spices and very lightly poached eggs but just incredible. Highly recommended.

A
Aja Brandman

I wish they had some indoor seating and service because that would just elevate everything. The Cilbir was good, but I think it would be better served in a larger bowl so you can really dip the bread in there. The chorizo sandwich was perfectly flavorful with a hint of spice. Their selection of pastries isn’t to be missed.

H
Hannah Lucas

This is my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city. The egg and cheese is so simple but every detail is done to perfection. Buttery, fluffy eggs, fresh yeasty roll…the best way to start a day. You can’t get even close to this sandwich at a bodega or any of the popular bagel places in the area. I’ve heard it compared to daily provisions and that sandwich is nowhere close to as good as this one. There’s no dine-in but plenty of covered (not heated ) seating right outside. Or sit in the park!

B
Brittany Sullivan

C&B is the best. The chorizo egg sandwich, curry and eggs, cilbir... it’s all phenomenal. This is one of my favorite cozy places to catch up with friends, or grab a breakfast sandwich to eat in Tompkins Square Park.

M
Maya Traykova

Absolutely delicious! Got the mushroom and egg sandwich. So good! Update, I went back in the next couple of days and also tried the Pig & Egg sandwich. Oh my!!!! Don't miss this out

R
Ruwan J.

a review 7 months late—not that anyone in the neighborhood has not heard of C&B quality offerings of freshly baked goods (baked in premises), sandwiches, and brewed drinks. there’s only seating outside. stopped in during from winter frosty maw and that coffee completed the mission of warming up my frozen existence at the time. be prepared for short lines during the morning and days…prepare for slightly longer waits on the weekends. the staff seems easygoing. don’t miss out on casual quality calories when you’re in the ABCs.

J
Jud Valeski

Yummines all around. Bread is baller. Staff is kind and attentive. Hot spot though so line is a thing. (No drip refills)

S
Salah Almontaser

I love this place, had the coffee one time it was fantastic, their coffee and pastries are always nice and fresh I'm sure their sandwiches are even better. Best of luck you are running a great business!

R
ReedH

This is one of my top spots for breakfast sandwiches in the city. Both the pork belly and the chorizo are delicious - with fluffy eggs and melted cheese. The pork belly can be a bit of a heart stopping start to the day though! The coffee is good too. It is popular so expect a bit of a line. But service is friendly and they have nice outdoor seating.

K
Kathleen Meanor

Holy moly this place is good! The egg and sausage sandwich is a staple. Mind you, it is a lot of meat so prepare yourself. Pastries and the iced latte were incredible. One of my favorite neighborhood spots in EV.

Matthew Blewitt
Matthew Blewitt

The pig and egg is my ideal breakfast sandwich. 2 big pieces of pork belly with fluffy eggs. I just stopped in for the sandwich but the pastries all looked delicious. Staff was friendly. Right across the street from the park so grab a sando and a cup of coffee to sit in the park and enjoy! Will be back soon for sure.

Anne McCarthy
Anne McCarthy

I was told to come here by a barista in Seattle who lived here for a long time/grew up in Long Island. She said this was the best breakfast sandwich in the city and she is right. Great vibes, wonderful folks, and delicious food. I got the plain egg and cheese and it hit the spot.

Rovik Robert
Rovik Robert

Space is a bit too tight for comfort but the offerings of bread, pastries and sandwiches overwhelm you enough, you don’t mind rubbing shoulders with other customers while you wait for your order. Pig and Egg is divine but also quite heavy so be prepared! Would love to try more of their pastries next time.

Abraham Alarcon
Abraham Alarcon

Been eating at C&B for several years and the food is great. The Eggs and Curry is hearty, savory, and very flavorful. Do not listen to the reviews about the lines and the wait. This just confirma that the food is very good and worth the wait.

G C
G C

Absolutely delicious. Their signature egg and cheese sandwiches are on another level—mine was served on fresh, bouncy bread that had clearly just come out of the oven, and the egg was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the care they put into it and the texture, temperature and taste is perfect. Great coffee, tons of beautiful pastries too. The vibe inside is wonderful—great music playing on a record player—and they’ve got outdoor seating if you want to linger. Since they’re right on the park, it’s also perfect to grab and go for a picnic. Just a fantastic spot all around.

Blake Rasmussen
Blake Rasmussen

An exceptional breakfast sandwich. It was shockingly meaty, and while it’s not the balance I was expecting, it’s hard not to feel they’re giving you value for $14.50. The eggs, despite what any other post may say, are perfect - this is how eggs are meant to be and if you don’t enjoy it just don’t eat breakfast sandwiches. Soft, mayonnaisey, a little salty. The bread is also great - buttery and structurally sound. Yes, it sets you back a decent amount for a breakfast sandwich, but it’s a full meal and it felt to me attention to detail was applied to every ingredient. Also, the espresso is great, the vibe is welcoming and relaxing, and the staff are great.

Jack Werner
Jack Werner

Delicious top notch not so hidden gem on Tompkins square. Try the chorizo sandwich !! Loved the record player and sound system too. Great to sit outside on a nice morning.

Karen Suárez
Karen Suárez

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The shop sells an edited menu of breakfast sandwiches along w salads, loafs, pastries and coffee. We had the pork belly & egg on a roll, as well as the mushroom/egg on toast. So good, can’t believe I’d never noticed this spot. It’s take out w some outdoor seating. There is a big line but goes quickly and they bring out sandwiches when ready.

Andrew Chang
Andrew Chang

Unlike other reviews, I am blown away by this place. I’ve lived in the Tompkins Square Park area for a year and this used to be my go-to. Stop by early and get their freshly made sourdough loaf or really any loaf. Their eggs are fluffy yet simple, basically the theme of this place. Simple ingredients executed phenomenally well. Bread toasted to perfection. Arugula dressed with lemon and actually cared for. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend C&B. Line can get a little long especially on weekend mornings but imo worth. Try the mushroom sandwich and obviously the chorizo.

Ana Bel
Ana Bel

One of my favorite places for breakfast in NY! The mushroom and egg sandwich is amazing with the nice acidity as well as the salmon one! It’s really worth the wait and the park next door is perfect for eating out

F
Feeney

There coffee is really good. The Chorizo egg sandwich is really good too. Although if it was on a bigger piece of bread and bit flatter it would be awesome. It’s almost too big to get into your mouth.

W
William Torsiglieri

Very cozy cafe, good music and decent breakfast The cold brew was smooth and great while waiting for my egg & cheese sandwich. Sandwich had a lovely bun (why place was recommended), with fluffy but a bit overcooked scrambled eggs. Still, very tasty and will be going back trying the chorizo or pork belly or chicken sandwich for lunch. Also got very good choco croissant.

L
Liz Feeser

We got the Grilled Cheese and the Sausage egg and cheese. I thought the grilled cheese was delicious and the homemade sourdough actually held up well despite doing take away! My boyfriends SEC had a very savory, thick sausage patty—not the sweeter kind typically on breakfast sandwiches but it was tasty! One complaint was that the house roll got quite hard and was a little dense but again that could’ve been because we didn’t eat it right away.

S
Salma Qazi

Pretty wonderful! We got the Turkish yogurt dish and the pork belly sandwich, both were great. (Tho if the sandwich bread had been a lil toasted that would have elevated it into a truly godlike experience imo...!) The music was great but a tad loud in the back room and there was a bit of a funky smell, maybe a slight mold problem or maybe I'm imagining it. I'd definitely come back here again, I wish I lived close by just to get hangover brunch here

G
G O Tapia

Decent coffee, but what was really good was the egg sandwich! Simple but really tasty. The live music outside set a really nice ambiance:)

S
Sam Atherton

The guy on the till was great but the girl making the coffee not so great. Coffee was good and the food was good but a little expensive.

Cass
Cass

Literally the most lovely woman on earth took my order so 10/10 for vibes based on her smile :) thank you to the woman with dark hair she’s great. The coffee is that fancy fruity coffee that I know is fancy fancy, but I just don’t like it. I’d rather pay less for a less fancy bean and it just be a not floral/fruity bean. But that’s just me. Always a line here. Their focaccia and other pastries look great.

Shangsi Z
Shangsi Z

The curry & egg is delicious: fluffy egg, flavorful curry rice w Brussel sprouts. The pumpkin soup is not bad but a bit plain. I can only taste the light sourness from it, lack of texture and aroma. Love the sour dough breads tho.

Isabelle J
Isabelle J

The best breakfast in the neighborhood! The menemen — soupy eggs and tomatoes — was delicious with the perfectly crunchy but chewy sourdough bread. The watercress salad (I didn’t see this in the menu but was able to order it as a separate side ) was amazing as always. Giving it 2 stars for service as it felt very disorganized. I didn’t get salad or bread at first and had to go back to ask for it, and it seems like it took the kitchen a few tries before they got everything right. Not much seating so went to eat at the park. Quite crowded Sunday for brunch but the food did come out quick after ordering

Jack Maguire
Jack Maguire

Stopped in for the chorizo and egg sandwich and honestly it did not live up to the price. The brioche bun was soft and buttery, and the eggs were fluffy and moist, but the chorizo missed the mark. It was too lean, which threw off the balance of the whole sandwich. The place itself is small and cozy. Service was friendly, though it felt rushed because they were slammed with a big group when I came in. Overall, the sandwich was just okay. Not terrible, but not something I’d go out of my way (or pay that much again) for.

Bonnie
Bonnie

This adorable breakfast shop serves delightful sandwiches and fresh coffee. I got the mushroom + egg sandwich and it was pretty good but I wasn’t blown away. The wait for the sandwiches is a bit long but the inside of the shop is extremely cozy and just has a great vibe overall.

Jerry’s Adventure
Jerry’s Adventure

Very cozy cafe, good music and decent breakfast Latte is star 🤩 very smooth Sandwich came with fluffy bun and smooth scrambled egg, but bit over salted. Pork belly melts in your mouth 😤, but it’s a bit fatty so it should have some form of acidity to balance it out. If it’s up to me, I would suggest some leafy greens like arugula in the sandwich plus apple slices Chocolate croissant was on point. Overall 4/5 😌

S
Surag Baichwal

Heads up, the Merguez sandwich has sausage in it. They need to update their menu with that information. The food was still good but not a huge fan of being forced to eat sausage.

M
Martin Valentino Cruz

The food is good a place to go and purchase a few things but not worth the hype and the price are just a bit to much. They just keep messing the order when I purchase online or in person. There’s always a girl in front but she seems to be more busy being outside and chatting then making sure everything is in order. Maybe she’s the owner if that’s so then I guess I get it.

M
Matthew Elliott

My friend had been telling me about this place for months. It's his favorite breakfast sandwich spot. I went and got the mushroom and egg sandwich. I thought it was underwhelming. The eggs were overcooked and the shrooms didn't have much flavor. I know everyone goes for the chorizo and meat options so maybe the mushroom sandwich isn't the thing to go for here. All that being said, the bread was amazing. I also got a Nutella pastry that was really good. So was the oatmilk latte. Before you go just know it gets tight in there. Small space. I'll come back and get something else.

N
Nelson Maldonado

I've had their sausage egg and cheese which is delicious. It's what they are known for I believe. But this time I tried their chicken and eggs, which i do not recommend. It was served to me in a container with about half inch of grease just resting on the bottom, the home fries submerged in it. It was gross. The chicken thighs had no flavor. The eggs were decent. Stick to the egg sandwich instead.

J
Jasmine Nouravi (On Instagram: badgal_eats)

Personally didn’t love the pork belly — was so heavy, I had to take it off to be able to finish. Take this with a grain of salt as I’m sure the sandwich is meant to be fatty and not exactly light, but not somewhere I’m dying to go again. Coffee does the trick

A
Ari Isenberg

Got the chorizo and egg sandwich from the NYT NYC 57 sandwiches list… chorizo was overwhelming. Soft scramble had some stringy whites I had to remove. Not bad overall but not as good at all as I hoped. Kinda expensive for what it is. Cashier wasn’t very friendly either, unfortunately. Very loud music inside. Pastries looked good. Would go back and try.

J
Johnson Song

Solidly mid, I was expecting better. Everything was just okay - service was quite slow, the atmosphere is cramped, and the food was not any better than a breakfast bagel from Tompkins. In fact, I'd take a bagel from Tompkins over the breakfast sandwich I got from C&B any day.

K
Karolina Ponosova

I mean the food is pretty good... sollid breakfast spot. But exorbitantly priced. Like come on... lets be realistic when you're selling scrambled eggs......

Arjun Kumar
Arjun Kumar

Had the Eggplant Parmesan and as someone who has had dozens of EPs in my life, this one was easily bottom 5 all time. Nearly $18 for soggy chunks of unbreaded eggplant with a lone slice of unmelted mozz? You will probably have a better experience ordering anything else on the menu!

Alexander
Alexander

Was excited to try out their mereguez and egg sandwich with a black cold brew coffee. Unfortunately, the coffee was forgotten till ask the counter after 3-4 drinks that came in after were made. Then after at least 10-15min wait was given an incorrect sandwich, either pork belly or something else. Unfortunately didn't realize till got home, and noticed the person handing out food take all the napkins out checking the sandwich and order so not sure how still got the wrong sandwich. A bit more care with orders could be taken at this local spot sadly 😔

Breakfast sandwiches: 2.5/ 5 Vibes: 4/5 Proximity to park which is a huge portion of the vibes: 5/5 Overall: 3.5/5 Ok here’s the run down: I went back 3 times to make sure this review was accurate. C&B is known for having “the best breakfast sandwiches in east village” — for $15, I got a delish sourdough bun, egg, cheese and chorizo. The bread was the best part. The egg was good, but like… chorizo was meant to be the whole show, and yes, it was… overpowering. Felt way too thick for me. But maybe I’m not a huge chorizo girl? Nor am I that into meat forward dishes.ok I go back. I get the oyster mushroom version. It’s soggy, not even the bun bread I like, and an even less impressive $15 breakfast sandwich. Drip coffee was alright. It’s mostly to go, with ~4 tables outside & out front. The park is AMAZING nearby, but that is more of an endorsement of the park than this establishment. It’s a vibe on the weekends though. Huge line. People are chatting. Grab a decent coffee and go to the park. They also have baked goods - I haven’t tried - they are pretty huge in my opinion. Also, they don’t label the ones on display; that would be a nice touch since it’s hard to tell the doughnuts apart, etc. Overall- not super impressed by the food, but def glad it’s near my favourite park in New York.

I guess this review is from someone who remembers Alphabet City as a grittier and much less expensive nabe. I ordered the egg and pork belly sandwich, and it was good, but was it really worth around $10? I could go to a dozen diners and food trucks in the City and find a "less refined" sandwich for half the price. But I get it--Alphabet City became Yuppyville. What hit me was the long wait--almost twenty minutes for a sandwich, and the reason I really write this review is when my sister (who ordered an egg-white sandwich) asked for ketchup, there was none to be had. Simple question: what place in the Western world that serves eggs in any form is not going to have ketchup--on a Sunday afternoon? And the exact thing is this. If they had said, "Sorry, we're out of ketchup." that wouldn't have been great, but it would have been acceptable. But they were like, "We don't serve ketchup," in a very curt tone. I had to ask for some hot sauce, and even this seemed like an imposition to the staff. It really feels like a take or leave it kind of establishment. Cool with me. The world is a large place with plenty of elsewheres.

Overwhelming underwhelming. Staff was super sweet but they’ve got a bunch to work on. 20+ minutes for a sandwich - and this was shortly after they opened / still “quiet”. May have been a single egg, not sure if they scramble half-eggs. Water jug was empty which, again being there 10 minutes after open and still quiet, means they just never went to fill it up at open. A single copy of the menu taped at the register makes for a super slow moving line. Just feels and runs like it’s their first week open, but it’s not… Stick with your bodega’s bacon egg and cheese and save yourself lots of time lots of money.

What is the hype about the food in this place? I went in and got the ham, egg, cheese on SD. The ham was so old and smelled, it had turned gray/greenish but they still put it in my sandwich. Sloppy assembly of it all. The bread was hard which I was surprised because they make it in house supposedly. I got an oat latte which was good. Service was good. Tiny place with big attitude. Please fix your food.

NEVER GO TO C&B CAFE!!!!!! This was absolutely the WORST dining experience I have ever had. I was treated terribly by the staff and especially by the owner. The food was disgusting and completely overrated. I asked the owner to add a small amount of rice to the pork belly bowl, which he agreed to do. Following my meal, I went to pay for the added rice and was charged me $10 for a scoop of rice!!!! The cashier explained this was the cost of a 'substitution'. This action was clearly done out of pure spite, because I asked the chef for a side of rice. The meal itself tasted like dirt and was not worth it. However, the treatment by the staff was what made the experience especially horrific. The owner followed me out of the shop and berated me on the street for having asked for a substitution. As a young woman, being chased and yelled at by an older man, I felt scared and threatened by his incredibly aggressive behavior. His business model, treating customers with hate and disdain because they make a simple request is unacceptable. He claimed to be a chef, but I can most certainly say the food lacked creativity and quality. Overall, this was an awful experience, and I hope no one else has to go through what I did. Please save yourself from eating any of the awful meals they serve here and being treated as less than a person in the process!!!

Owner was incredibly rude over the phone. Will not be going back after the way he treated us.

Tbh the sandwhicj was so lame. How they look is completely different from how they taste. The sandwhicj is so bland. I was excited because it got the egg sandwhicj with mushrooms and literally it was so dry and has no sauce. Put mayo on it or something. It was so expensive for a tasteless sandwhich. Or like even butter. SOMETHING! And it’s pricey

Ordered pickup from here weeks back around 1pm and it was a BIG mess for a $20 breakfast sandwhich. Starting off with scrambled eggs that came 50% raw. The dampness from the runny egg whites soaked through the perfect sourdough bread which couldnt hold the sando together bec of that. The sausage and the added avocado were cornered in diff areas. The sausage was more hockey puck shaped so it fell out the other end as soon as I tried to take a bite. Same with the avocado. Shouldve been sliced and evenly distributed. Its a shame because the flavors were there, high quality ingredients were there but it was impossible to eat a broken raw egg wet sandwhich as a unit without a spoon. Unfortunately went hungry during my lunch break.

Feel bad giving this place 2 stars but as someone who’s not a basic white girl or.. lacks actual taste in food, I am extremely underwhelmed by this chicken sandwich. I was told it’s one of the popular sandwiches which is why I ordered it.. it’s literally a baked piece of chicken with some avocado and sourdough…. There is barely any flavor. Why is this over $15??? Either decrease the price to like $5 or add a ton of flavor/ ingredients to make this sandwich worth the price.
