Very nice, quaint "main street" USA diner. Food was great and staff was friendly, attentive, service with a smile!
You haven't had breakfast until you've eaten here. Sure,I prejudice my childhood neighbor bought the place and kept a proud tradition going.Staff is wonderful and the homemade jam superb.easily accessable from anywhere on long Island and the dock is a great place to walk off the extra calories. Always and forever in my heart.
This is a staple of Northport and Tim is a lifetime resident of Northport, New York. The staff here is friendly and helpful and always on point. The food is always quality and comes out hot and quick. I have been visiting this restaurant for 20 plus years and never have I been disappointed with my visits. I highly suggest if you have not tried out Tims Shipwreck Diner, you must! And be sure to leave a good review. You won't be disappointed! Their bacon is always cooked perfect, the eggs are always done as ordered and the quality of food and service can't be beat at a price you can be happy to tip well!!!
I will recommend you bring your family and friends with you to have a really great time! Food is excellent, service is outstanding! Price is worth every bite!! Lucky Bklyn n.y. I had bkfst, then went the same day and had dinner Hot open roastbeef, etc.! 😋
This is a great little restaurant in the heart of Northport! I had the eggs benedict and it was cooked perfectly. Service was perfect and the staff was very friendly and quick. The best part about it is the price$$. They could easily charge 50% more per dish it's that good. Totally worth the money. Come early(before 10am) for almost guaranteed seating. It get packed quickly on the weekends.
A nice casual place that's family friendly and offers all your favorite comfort foods. We were surprised at the very large and beautiful outdoor area behind the restaurant that we had no idea existed. Our waitress was very friendly, too!
Went here for first time with my Motorcycle buds. It was a very busy lunch but they sat 5 of us quickly and we had a great lunch!
I went there for breakfast. The server was great and attentive. All the omelets were great. One of use got the pastrami as there meat andvit was great. Sausage, Moz and red pepper special omelet was great. High breakfast recommended.
New Owner Dennis is great and has kept the same Charm that Tim had. There is always growing pains when you absorb a new venture. But The Shipwreck remains the same wholesome, delicious cozy spot it has alaways been. Built by Tims Father and carried on in tradition by Tim and extended and enhanced by Dennis! An amazing menu with great staff and service and the quality of food is excellent at amazing prices. The home tiwn feel you get at Shipwreck cant be matched. Its unique and delicious.
Just a big Thank You to Tim and his pops Otto for giving our town quite possibly the best diner on Long Island. For over 40yrs I've been enjoying breakfast here whenever I can. I now pass the tradition on to my children. Hungryman Special is enough for a full day! Yet no matter what you get, your meal and experience in this historic train car will leave you satisfied. It's good to be a townie!
Great place for breakfast! Can't recommend the Wreckfast Wrap enough! Yhe wait staff was really friendly and super funny too boot. Even on an incredibly busy morning. Little tip, counter is first come, first serve so sit there if there's a long line (which there likely will be - and for good reason) and you don't need a table. Janet is the waitress at the counter and she's a spitfire. You'll be sure to have a good time. We'll definitely be back.
Our experience here was awesome. The wait staff was awesome a special shout out to Jeannie. The food was fabulous the best seafood bisque I have ever eaten, hats off to the chef. Overall a great experience and a highly recommend place for great food and great service.😊
Just one for brunch my husband had a great brunch
Stopped in with my hubby after another snowstorm. It was great. We enjoyed the food, atmosphere, friendly waitress with great sense of humour. Large selection for breakfast or lunch... reasonably priced and fast service.
Ate outside. The food was good. The service was excellent. Popular place, they are very busy and doing their best.
Great food, excellent service don't be surprised if you have a little wait on the weekend but well worth it. Inside and outside dining available weather permiting.
Utterly delicious food. Service and staff were amazing. Beautiful location as well. Definitely will be back with my family.
Great food, service and prices! Nice outdoor semi closed in or an open patio if ya don't wanna be inside! Matt is a jolly informative great waiter! Recently had a party of 5. All the dishes were excellent! It's called a diner, but I believe it's well above your typical diner! Enjoy!
In a town crowded with bougee restaurants this diner is a traditional gem. Food is great and the service is attentive and friendly. We have breakfast there and dishes are consistently tasty.
Amazing staff and delicious food made with care, best lobster bisque I ever had!
Even though they were having problems with the AC. The staff took very good care of us. Food came out perfect we are looking forward to going back
Great place, amazing setting and food is very delicious!!! First time here and we are definitely coming back! Great for families with kids!!!
Great old time diner. Food was great and the staff was friendly. I was there on a Sunday morning and it was busy as expected but I was seated right away.
Great lunch! Burgers, sandwiches and sides - all delicious. Service very friendly and efficient.
This is THE place to go for breakfast. The place was packed, so we took a seat at the counter. It was the best seat in the house! Owner Tim and the wait staff never stopped moving. The cheese blintzes are perfection. Light and delicious, served with fresh fruit, sour cream and Tim’s homemade jam. YUM! The hash and eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese on croissant and fresh, steaming coffee rounded out our breakfast. But hands down, the best part of our experience was chatting it up with owner Tim and waitress extraordinaire, Jeanie. Don’t miss out on this gem of a diner. Go now!!
What a fantastic special diner in Northport. The atmosphere the employees the food the vibes are exceptional. Beautifully designed but keeping the old time diner experience intact. I highly recommend this place. Definitely will be back.
This diner is truly a piece of history ideally located in the heart of Northport village. A must go if it’s your first time in Northport or if you are just looking for a great meal. Ship wreck Diner supports local law enforcement and is just the local business this community needs!
Real diner with small town, friendly feel. You are greeted with a taste of corn bread and homemade jam. The coffee is hot, and the omelets are perfectly cooked and tasty.
Delicious breakfast & great service!
What can I say. I just love this restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. Their customer service is stellar. The food is delicious. What more can you ask for? Definitely always worth the wait. They have been around a long time and for very good reason. Everything they do is wonderful. At a time when customer service is not necessarily the greatest in a lot of businesses, they go the extra mile to make sure the clients are happy. Well done Tim.
We were at the ship wreck diner last week This diner is amazing. It's like stepping back in time. This place never lets you down. The food and service is amazing. At the end of our meal we were treated to rice pudding. This was a nice touch. The nostalgia and food make it well worth stopping in. I am a veteran and I go to the VA hospital in Northport. When I have time the crowning jule of our trip there is to take my wife or son there and treat them to a piece of history. You can see and feel the surroundings of the rail road dining car. The food is the topping. I am so glad that they survived the COVID-19 shutdown that hit in March 2020 and is finally letting us try to get back to normalcy.
This diner is amazing!! Could possibly be the best breakfast I've had out in 40 years!! The eggs were perfect, the fresh jam was amazing on my crisp yet moist French toast. Thrre egg, two meat, home fries and French toast make up their "hungry man" breakfast and it was delicious!!!
Staff is welcoming! Tim and Janice are so nice! We usually stick with our usual eggs and toast! Coffee is very good! Always enjoy Tim’s Shipwreck. Worth our 30 min drive. Be prepared to wait if you go on weekends. Only open till 3.
We had a wonderful brunch and great experience. I’d especially like to thank the owner and staff as I left my purse there and they went out of their way to overnight it to me since I am not local to the area. We hope to come back soon and highly recommend others to visit.
As always we weren't disappointed with our brunch at Shipwreck. We were offered indoor or outdoor seating as soon as we arrived. Surprisingly quick for a Sunday at noon. We sat inside near the back door, plenty of room between tables, we felt safe and comfortable. We were offered coffee as soon as we sat down by our very friendly waitress. We ordered the flight of mimosas which were tasty. My friend had the eggs Benedict over housemade hash and I had a Greek omelette with hash instead of home fries, all delicious. Our server was very attentive and we got coffee refills without even looking towards the waitress. Can't wait to return. Thanks Shipwreck for being awesome.
My wife & I had our first visit there, and were treated to a singularly excellent breakfast, from their homemade mixed-berry jam and cornbread to the steaming mug of coffee. I had steak and eggs; she had cinnamon french toast. All was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. I myself was a cook for a number of years in many restaurants and I consider myself a reasonably good critic of this sort of venue. It was exceptionally well done. We'll have to go back and try out the outdoor tables.
Probably the best diner I've ever been to! Never disappoints. If you like reuben sandwiches, this one will knock your socks or sandals off. Please take note that credit cards are not accepted, you can pay in cash or hash. :~))
Amazing little restaurant in downtown Northport. Perfect for brunch and dinner. The food is so good and their pancakes are the best. The staff is very kind and always friendly. It is crowded on weekends so getting their earlier before the rush is best. There is a little back area that is outside and perfect for warmer days. Kids receive a menu they can color as well as crayons. The restaurant was recently renovated and featured in one of Food Networks shows. Overall this place has amazing food and I would highly recommend it to others.
The best corned beef melt in your mouth Reuben, PERIOD! No over-stuffed slabs of meat, just a simple, perfectly proportioned melt in your mouth super fresh Reuben! yes, it's actually better than Huntingtons "the Shed" and Northport's Changing times!!! They're good but Shipwreck takes the prize!!! ****Someone below posted cash only! NOT TRUE!!! They take credit cards*****
Great little spot with a totally different atmosphere from front space to back. We sat in the back and really enjoyed the open space, although the front offers a more classic diner experience. I had their BEC on a croissant and the pumpkin pancakes! Both yummy. Fun, homey neighborhood spot with a big menu and good food. Our waiter was from Ireland and spoke Gaelic which added a fun component to the brunch - go raibh maith!
Excellent food and great service! This was our first visit. We've been meaning to come for quite a while. We ordered the fried clams on a bun and the quiche special (ham, asparagus and cheddar). The quiche was awesome! Loaded with so much stuff and soooo creamy! Yum! The sandwich was overflowing with clams. Delicious! Loved the brownie and whipped cream surprise treat at the end. Our waitress, although very busy, took care of us quite well. The open kitchen allowed us to see how well- coordinated the cook staff work. Bravo to you! We will be back!
Delicious food, generous portions and wonderful atmosphere. Got our order correct and was prepared fast.
👌🏾EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON🤚🏿WE WENT TO BROWNSTONES FOR BREAKFAST BUT THEY HAD A 30MIN.😖 WAIT SO THAT'S HOW WE ENDED UP HERE AT " SHIPWRECK DINER"🤗 WHERE WE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO,CONSIDERING WE WERE GREETED BY CO-OWNER JANET! SHE GAVE US THE V.I.P. TREATMENT BY THE WAY KRISTEN WAS HER WING-WOMAN WE GOT THE (KOBE&SHAQ) TREATMENT FOOD,SERVICES,MUSIC IS ALL GOOD OVER THERE HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2021
Bustling with locals but somehow there's room and service is attentive. Breakfast served with great homemade details, like jam and cornbread.
This place is so nice. The food is very reasonably priced and taste great. The owners are so nice.
After going to a Christmas show up the road, I brought my 3 grandchild and 2 daughters for lunch. We have never had such wonderful, friendly and professional service!! We will definitely be going back! The best was when we were done, the waiter brought a treasure chest and told the children to pick out a toy!!
Was so nice and delicious, the breakfast egg Benedict was so good, but the service perfect starting with the host and the waiters, and near the place you can enjoy a short walk to the pier😊💯
Hit the Shipwreck yesterday morning! It has been awhile since I have been out for breakfast because making breakfast is something I'm good at.....at least my kids love it. What a home run...read a review the night before about the corned beef hash and it was off the charts. Solid coffee, solid bacon, rye toast and my date had the cheese blintzes that could have been a cover shot for Bon Appetit magazine. Their homemade jelly was special too! What a great breakfast...and I love the cozy atmosphere and at least 4 staff checked in super friendly as if you were sitting in their kitchen at home!!!
Local place to get breakfast n lunch. Always great food and service.
My family has been going to Shipwreck Diner for over 30 years and I have never written a review. Just picked up a quart of Chicken Soup and it is just as good as homemade! Big chunks of chicken, carrots, celery and the noodles were not mushy! Always consistent and more than enough food and usually bring extra home. Northport residents are lucky to have such a great restaurant in town. Thanks!
Love this place! Was suggested by a few friends. Been here a bunch now. It’s my GF’s and my favorite breakfast spot! They have GF options for those with allergies.
I’ve been coming since I was a kid. Let’s say 25 years so I don’t feel so old. Earlier today, 8/31, was probably the best experience I’ve had. The hostess was so nice and on point with her estimate of time for our table, even dealing with some rude old hags before speaking with me. Cassidy our server was attentive and knew exactly when to check in on us without being overbearing. The ‘Minnie’ pancake was such a great suggestion, my daughter loved it. Thank you for a great lunch. Great job.
This place is a gem. Food, ambiance, it’s all perfect.
Coolest old caboose atmosphere. Wife and I had great sandwiches today. Food came fast and was perfect. Great friendly service. Would love to go again!
Hometown Delicious Fare, Served Quickly in a Delightful Nautical Setting. Service was Pleasant Fast & beyond efficient! Soup, Crab Cakes Benedict Pancakes & More!
There are a lot of places in town to get a good burger. Let me tell you this is one of those places. I just finished my burger and it was cooked absolutely perfect. It was juicy and delicious the bacon was crispy and tasty. I even liked the coleslaw and I don’t like coleslaw lmao 😂 . If you find your self in Northport on Main Street and you want a treat stop by the ShipWreck and get your self a burger!
Came on a Very busy Saturday early afternoon which was also host to a Parade and marathon in the town. We waited about 10 minutes to be sat outside in the back. It was nice back there but it was on the cold and windy side. Good thing I had a hopdie on!. Food: Half Chicken salad sandwich. It was ok. Macaroni salad and Cole slaw were very good. Chicken soup tasted homemade. Wish we had more or wish it came out same time as our food. Quiche was the best we've ever tasted!!!! Our Waitress was very nice.
Make sure you sit in the back! They have the prettiest outdoor area where you can eat. I had the spinach goat cheese omelette that was very good. Service was excellent.
Food great. Owner responsive when i had a small issue with food that i mentioned to waitress. Owner came out very helpul recooked dish even though i said it wasn't necessary . And restaurant was getting ready to close. Great service everyone friendly
First time for our whole group of 7 people so we asked the waitress what to recommend. We ordered most of her suggestions and everything was so so good! Two of us did mimosa flights and all 5 glasses were filled to the top....and mostly champagne no less! Beautiful space, outstanding staff, delicious food, and good drinks. Highly recommend!!
Incredible homemade cornered beef hash eggs Benedict I ever had anywhere. The new owner Denis and his staff particularly Tammy couldn't be more friendly. Highly recommend. Chocolate shake was the best I ever had and the corned beef hash is so good all homemade. Theytreat you with such kindness Tammy brought out a toy box for my friends son to choose 2 toys.it doesn't get any better than this on Long Island or anywhere.
Awesome food. One of the best diners in Long Island. Great food, fresh ingredients, and friendly service in an inviting diner setting. The blintzes filled with farmers cheese, and home made berry jam, sour cream and fresh fruit topping simple delicious. Good diner coffee. Highly recommended.
This place has great food and very friendly staff, great spot to stop and eat before you watch the views of the water or continue your shopping. The only reason I put 4 stars for atmosphere was the noise if you are seated close to the kitchen in the front. Otherwise very nice place and I will be dining again!!
12/24/21 @ about 1ish, I came with my friend who is from Long Island, NY and dined here. It is a cute place to dine, and the place was pretty full of patrons. I ordered the cheese sticks, quiche (spinach, cheese, and ham), seafood bisque, and coleslaw. The fried clams were tasty. It was Very good/Very fresh. The pretty blonde is the sweetest! Our waitress was not too nice at all, though, which made that part of the expereince unfortunate. Thank God the food was good!!
My husband and I love to come here! Yesterday was our second time visiting the diner. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant, so you can watch the staff make the food and know that it's all homemade. The portions are great and the variety is excellent. I ordered a breakfast quiche (asparagus, ham, and cheese) and my husband ordered the Wreckfast burrito. I didn't realize mine came with a small portion of fruit, a pickle and coleslaw, macaroni salad, lettuce, tomato, and onion. My husband's burrito was filling but it also came with potatoes. Overall we had a great experience and we can't wait to go back!
A 100 year old Diner that serves an outstanding breakfast/lunch with friendly attentive service. Folks check in all along the way to be certain you are having a pleasant experience. This last go around I had excellent Eggs Benedict and my wife Fresh Blueberry Pancakes which I sampled . The batter had an excellent flavor along with very fresh blueberries. We try to get there every few weeks. Their daily specials are beaconing. Love the shrimp and grits when offered. There is an outdoor patio which is a delight. The indoor is designed as its name dictates. It is a bit tight with the busy kitchen across the aisle. After you dine take a walk along the water in Cow Harbor Park or if the stores are open some shopping. Overall an excellent place for breakfast/lunch. YUM!!! They do not take reservations.
Went with about 11 friends. Servers were quick and friendly. Food was overall good, but your sausage gravy needs sage. Biscuits and gravy are made with sage sausage, but it was good otherwise. Everybody enjoyed their meals too.
The food and the service were real good. We sat outside which was nice under the overhang. The diner is not handicap accessible from the front door and if you needed the restrooms, well forget that if you're in a wheelchair .
Amazing service and atmosphere, would come here again. The French toast was ok, the sandwich was quite good. The service really made up for any faults though, we felt cared for.
Food was good, service was not. Our waitress seemed to be in a bad mood and took it out on us. We were curious how long this place has been around since we have never been here before, and she was like "I don't know. A long time." Very short answer and walked away.. okay....??? Then as we were still finishing our meals she dropped the check on the table and we felt really rushed, we still had half plates left. Didn't even ask if we needed anything else. I have been a server for a few years myself and would never do that to a table.
Overpriced foods (should be computerized instead of handwritten), feels like the waiter overcharged us, she wasn't very friendly either. Only typical omelets and potatoes platters came to total of $70 for two people.
Excellent breakfast and brunch! However, when you arrive at 9:30am and the hostess tells you 45 mins, but you get seated at 11:30, you know they have a big problem. That problem is their kitchen, which is far too small for their indoor and outdoor seating. So we ended up with hangry kids, hangrier adults and then NO CORNBREAD. Redemption almost came with the blintzes, but they ran out of the jam that goes on it too. I really want to continue loving Tim's, but they need to get their house in order. I will come back for the blintzes again though, they're awesome!
Ordered biscuits and gravy, and maybe I should have known better this far north. Biscuits were NOT soft and fluffy, though better than the hard dry things I normally find on Long Island. Gravy was a pile of surprisingly pale, bland sausage in a puddle of what tasted and looked like milk. Eggs were good, and preserves on cornbread were great.
We live in Northport so we were excited to try Shipwreck after it got refurbished. The staff is great- friendly and helpful. The ambiance is nice, I recommend sitting outside. However, the food is overpriced and it does not taste that great. I paid $16 dollars for a breakfast wrap that was stale and generally lackluster. Two of my friends did not finish their plates, nor did they want to take the leftovers home with them. I won't be going back.
Cute place but absolutely terrible service. We sat at the back patio and it was gorgeous. However every time the waiter came, the item/order was wrong and something was missing. Brought drinks over with no straw. We later asked for straws that never came Brought coffee over, no milk or half and half My husband ordered fries, fries never came I ordered their special jam, jam never came We ordered a burger and the montecristo, it took 50 minutes to come out Absolutely horrendous service for our first time.
The service was fine. We were a big group there for food on Sunday at 12:00pm before the theater. While most of us ordered breakfast, I decided to keep it light with a bowl of “homemade” chicken noodle soup, that was one of 2 soup specials listed on their chalkboard today. It was definitely not homemade! It was Campbell’s condensed soup topped with breast meat from what tasted like a rotisserie chicken. The noodles and the small cube of dark chicken meat that was always in my bowl of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup when I was a kid were the giveaway. This was my first time at this diner and will be my last. Rather than make a scene and say something to the owner who stopped by our table (I think that’s who’s pictured on their instagram page), I didn’t say anything. I did comment to the person I was sitting next to that they served me Campbell’s soup and she suggested maybe they use it as a soup starter. Really? In a restaurant. No excuse. BTW I did try to call the diner after the show was over but they were closed. I did message them privately on their website. But I really doubt that will get their attention. Shame on them for trying to pass off that soup as homemade. I don’t eat canned soup at home and I don’t expect to be served canned soup in a restaurant, diner, cafe etc. how does this place have 4.5 stars.
the food was average diner food, the atmosphere was unique, but the service could use some work.. the food cameout in adequate time. however, we asked the server for something and she disappeared??? we had to wait until we saw her again and asked for the same item-definitely she forgot it-and the food was cold by the time we got it. we were not greeted as you would expect from wait staff, she simply seemed like she couldn’t be bothered with saying hello or introducing herself, she just asked what we wanted (of course I don’t expect that :p). however, we did notice that she greeted the table after us with warm hello (they were a 8 top, we were only 2 and obviously they looked they would tip her better than we could lmao)
We waited 25 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was packed. The two hostesses kept a list of the people waiting for tables. The one hostess said we are next. There were three couples waiting at this point. A minute later the hostess said the next table was ready and escorted a different couple to this table. When the hostess returned we asked why she gave that table to the other couple and not us. She said that was the owner of the restaurant. The owner was well aware of how long everyone was waiting. And he came in after us. I couldn’t believe the owner of a restaurant would do that to a customer. So my wife and walked out.
