Update: We decided to go back and give El Torrito another try. It’s been about 1 year. So, we visited the buffet and ate a variety of foods. Everything was fresh, clean, and delicious. Staff did a great keeping the buffet fill with food. There was plenty available. Also, desserts were also delicious. More importantly, our wonderful server, Sherie, visited our table frequently, was polite, and always served with a smile. We will be back soon! So it’s been about 2 years since I visited this El Torito due to cleanliness concerns. I decided enough time had passed and it was time for another go at it. There’s an “A” on the wall from the health inspector, so that was a positive sign. The cleanliness, however, is still a little subpar for such a main stream business and commercial restaurant. The greeter was sorta nice but not really friendly. The restaurant was fairly empty but we were told the wait time was 30 minutes. We were seated ahead of time in about 15-20 minutes, so the wait time was fine. Our waiter was rude from the start, rough around the edges, and needs real customer service training. Now about the food. The plate I ordered was $17.99. The food was delicious until I chewed on something hard. I felt that had I bit down harder I would have chipped a tooth. As much as I would like to frequent this establishment, I will be skipping El Torito for the foreseeable future, again. Hi Daniel, thanks for the quick reply and reaching out. I think the best way for businesses to improve is to have customers drop in and share exactly how their experience went (for other customers and) so management has direct feedback to work with. Then it’s up to management to consider those customer experiences and make any appropriate adjustments if needed. Hopefully my feedback helps and maybe I’ll stop in sooner rather than later and give El Torito another try. Thank you!

The experience at El Torito was outstanding 👏🏾 I tried the chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. The manager Wendy's was so pleasant and kind had great personality. The restroom is nice and clean and Clausia had great customer service. I would definitely would come back again. 💯❤️🙏🏾

Update 10/13/2022: 68th anniversary celebration until closing at 10pm tonight!! Free tacos. Okay, so they are probably short staffed. Service was a bit slow but our server was still marvelous! AND… it was Happy Hour!! $4 well drinks and $8 mojitos and $5 margaritas. We also got Elote corn (off the cob) for $4. So good! A little over roasted today but the flavor was delicious. Not too crowded, surprisingly, but the bar area had more people than usual. Try, try this place! The people are very nice! TIP your servers! They work hard! Update 10/7/2022: Great service and food was so good. I got the waffles with honeybutter, maple syrup, fruit and bacon. My guy got the carnitas & bacon breakfast fries with a sunny side up egg on top and pico de gallo. Update: 7/23/2022 Went for $8 breakfast. Great service and food was pretty good although my ham was a little salty for my taste. We also got free chips and salsa and a side of sour cream ($2). Our server was pretty attentive and was there when we needed him. I like that! Place is awesome looking since the renovation. Check out pics!

I'm such a foodie and going to this restaurant did.not dissapoint. The drinks. The food. The flavor. Oh my goodness. 20 out of 10. I totally recommend. Had the best birthday lunch ever and I cannot wait to go back. We got the bacon wrapped shrimp, the Fiesta platter(idk if that's the name) and a virgin mango Margarita(best slushy ever) with a Raspberry Margarita. My server wasn't the best honestly but another one came by and made our day better. The food, the drinks, and dessert tho made me over look that little bump on the road. Mario is almost always our server and he makes the experience amazing. So attentive, fun to talk to, and gives great fast service. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the valley, I highly recommend everyone to come here to el Toritos.

Been going here for lunch for several years. I specifically sit on the bar side to be served by Mario as he is the most attentive, fast and amazing person ever. Half the reason we come here is because of his service. I would recommend coming here for lunch and we often still eat and drive back to work within our allotted time.

My youngest son and I chose this location with a double purpose. To visit and try the food for the first time and also to celebrate his 18th birthday. Everyone was courteous, respectful, and kind! The restaurant was clean, had well-organized staff, and a fully stocked bar. The restrooms couldn’t be cleaner—spotless and with a beautiful decor. The treatment was without any doubt the best of the best! My drinks were absolutely made to perfection by EVARISTO! The food was delicious and with large portions. I ordered the birria tacos, and my son ordered buffalo wings, fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and beef, and got a free flan. Come visit for dinner and ask for Jose Luis! He will give you the table service you deserve. Joselyn and Marilu will greet you at the entrance with a warm and welcoming smile! I love them. Delicious food haven't been here in a few years glad I decided to give it a try agaifor appetizers we the bacon wrapped shrimp with jalapeno and cheese. Absolutely amazing highly recommend this. Also tried the quest dip was perfect with the chips. Wish the Salsa was hotter but otherwise was delicious. Tried the special vampire tacos was good but probably wouldn't order again just not want I expected. Also has the combo fajitas which was steak, chicken and accompanied by a cheese enchilada. Food is good drinks are delicious. We will be back.

I have been to this El Torito many times and it was never a good experience. But, I have to say, then must have a new management, staff and chef. Literally one of the best meals at a reasonable price, great drinks and Sam our waitress was amazing! The Tomato basil soup was the best I've ever had! I can't wait to go back!

Most beautiful El Torito of all. 4 levels with Spanish iron railings Spanish sconces. A bigger than life size bull in the center. With brick ceilings and a great wood trellis. Great place for work lunches because the buffet means hot food no waiting. Love the sautéed veggies and The cilantro salad dressing is so good. I use it for my tacos too! Even the made to order tortillas, sooo good. Mario the bar tender was so polite and Joseph the manager is a great host throughout the meal. See it for yourself.

Went for lunch for the buffet for $16.50. My elderly mother, wife, and I opted for the buffet. I was really craving Carnitas. Walked over to inspect options. Sure enough, shredded pork. I was worried it was going to be the cheaper cubed type. We also had table side guacamole. Subtle, but nice flavor. Good thing my mom can eat. I thought the buffet wouldn't be cost-effective. With one soda, our bill with 20% tip was $90. We did enjoy our meal. I had at least 10 street tacos. Wow. We are planning to go back.

We all been here before , so we know what it's like. I had to ask for a napkins , because the only napkin that came on the table was the one that was wrapped with my knife and fork.

The hostess could learn a little more English, pronounced BUFFET with a hard T. Was a bit stuffy in the bar area where I was seated. Waiter was perfect on checking up on the table and drinks. Buffet food; taco meat was not hot, tortillas were not fully cooked. Other dishes were very delicious.

The staff was very friendly. The food is good Mexican food, but not amazing. It took a long time for them to take our order, but other than that, everything was good. The chips and salsa are terrific and I have to control myself to ensure that I don't fill up on chips before the food arrives. I don't recommend their birria tacos, they are probably the second worst birria tacos I've ever had. The enchiladas and tamales are decent. The flavor on the chile relleno was fairly mild.

The food and drinks were delicious and will be going back before I leave. They looked short staff, the poor waitress was running around everywhere.

El Torito is okay, and the service is really good, but the food doesn't have the bold flavor that I enjoy when eating Mexican food. We had the potato chorizo taquitos, which I thought would be delicious, but they were just kind of flavorless and mushy, and you couldn't even taste the chorizo at all--they were not good. The albóndigas soup was yummy, but the meatballs were a little overvooked, and again, the broth did not have the robust flavor that I was looking for. We also had the Macho Combo, which comes with an enchilada, chile relleno, a beef taco, and a chicken tamale. The taco was probably the best thing in this combo--the Chile rellano was okay too (not enough flavor), but the tamale was basically all masa and flavorless, and the enchilada could have just been a lot better. The corn cake that comes with is pretty good, per usual, and we also ordered a side of corn cake, and it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. If you come here, the tacos are pretty much the tastiest thing on their menu--because we also had the Street Taco Trio--and they give you bottomless chips and salsa, which is great.

Decided to stop by for a late night snack for my sons Birthday. The service was good’! Food was fresh and the drinks delicious. The crew didn’t sing happy birthday to us but they did to the table next to us… the one gentleman who did sing was great!

The food is really good. They have a generous Happy Hour till 9 pm but CHECK YOUR BILL! I was overcharged for my margaritas while my companions were charged correctly. I couldn't wait anymore for my waitress I think she left for the night so I just paid the inflated price and left unhappy. Doesn't change the fact the food was good though

I’ve been going to el Torito to since I was young because my mom loves the restaurant ! And so do I. The food is consistently good and I’ve tried many different dishes. This time I got the burrito especial which was delicious! The tortilla had an enchilada sauce on it that was very flavorful and good. I very much enjoyed it! But portion also so I ended up taking half home. My aunt got the chicken and sour cream enchiladas and my mom got the sizzling enchiladas. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The sizzling enchiladas were surprisingly light but flavorful and my mom was able to eat both of hers.

I came here for some happy hour bites, and I’m so glad I did! The cantina offers happy hour every day from 3 pm to 9 pm—who doesn’t love happy hour every single day? I tried the chicken sopes ($6) and the street corn off the cob ($4). Both were delicious, but be warned—there’s a bit of a kick to them, so next time, I’ll ask for a little less spice. It seems like a lot of people come for the margarita flight ($10), which includes classic mango and blackberry flavors. The waitress suggested I try one since it’s a top seller, but since I don’t drink, I passed. However, if you enjoy a good drink, they also offer $4 draft beers during happy hour. They have a variety of specials throughout the week too. For example, kids eat for just $1 on Wednesdays with the purchase of an adult meal, and they offer a fun brunch on Sundays. El Torito I am very conflicted about this review for a few reasons. So let me start with the appearance. It has been a while since I walked through the doors of this El Torito. It looks amazing, most definitely an upgrade. As for their food, here is where some of my conflict enters in. My food was good, it had a great flavor. I ordered the macho combo and luckily for me our waiter messed up on my order. I asked for black beans but it came out with pinto beans. Since our server Evaristo was elusive (aka, not attentive), I decided just to eat them rather than complain and wait. I know you’re wondering why I said luckily my order was wrong. My wife ordered the Sizzling Chicken Enchiladas. Her dinner came with a side of pinto beans de la olla, which she replaced with black beans. I tasted her enchiladas and her black beans (which were not de la olla). I am not sure that any salt came near those beans or her enchiladas. There was a consistency to the lack of flavor within the layers of her food. The chicken inside wasn’t seasoned, the sauce didn’t have a definitive flavor, and those were the blandest black beans I have ever tasted. Essentially, her entree was very disappointing. My wife took the time to join the rewards program for the free table side guacamole. It took a while once we ordered it for it to arrive. The table side guacamole is meant to be a show, a production. However the result was anything but. Our server was distracted and we became convinced that’s how we ended up with guacamole without the flavor of lime or salt. My mother-in-law ordered a strawberry lemonade. Our waiter brought her a regular lemonade before she reminded him that it was supposed to be strawberry. He brought her the correct one immediately. All in all, I think our server needs to work more closely with the support staff so that when and if he is busy, his service doesn’t suffer.

Update 911/2023; seeing that we didn't miss Happy hour and to get free Rams House nachos, first we sat where people dining room but didn't see the Happy hour menu, was told needed to be at the bar area so we sat there. Asked again for the Happy hour menu was told it was on the table but it had nothing but drinks, got the regular menu instead. I tried to pull up that menu on my phone but it also didn't give me that option, so I figure maybe the 3 tacos meal would be half off, but it wasn't the nachos was free but the rest was full price told our server was looking for the Happy hour menu she had to look at two other tables to find it, the service was slow and I had to give a small tip. This was a bad experience for us and despite Happy hour being advertise they don't make sure their customers have the right menu, instead of pointing and saying it's there make sure the actual menu is there instead of the drinks. I like their Nachos and enchiladas, plus their strawberry soda.

We went for their everyday happy hour meal. Street corn was very salty and oily. We only ate half of it due to hunger. The mahi mahi tacos were okay. The shells of the taco were wet. The service was not good. We had to ask for water and they missed to our Guacamole & Chips. Our water cups were empty and they never filled them up. Anyway we still left 18% tips. We will not try their happy hour again.

It's been a while sense our last visit and unfortunately the food was not as good as expected. I had the Mucho Combo and my Tamale had hardly any chicken in it and was really dry. The enchilada was missing sauce or something because it just plain tasted weird. The only good things were the Chili Relleno which was more like the El Torito we're used to and the Taco. Looked great but fell short. Girlfriend had the Salmon which she liked but nothing else on the place. Again looks good but not what we had expected from El Torito.

Good Happy hour prices, and you can’t go wrong with $3.00 tacos with fresh tortillas. But quality and authenticity isn’t the greatest. Do love the corn cake though. Drink prices are very reasonable. Worth a visit

Price was right, but waitress failed miserably by serving the guacamole without chips since they weren't ready and still in the oven. Next time, serve guacamole at the same time with the chips. Waitress also failed miserably when she removed a used saucer from another table and placed it on our table. I should have pointed it out to her, but didn't because it was obvious there was a slight language barrier. We ordered the dish with the four meats that serves 4. The chicken and beef were both overcooked! Kinda hard to screw up tortillas, rice, and beans, so obviously those met our standards.

Me and my family used to love this location. We've been celebrating our birthdays, holidays, and casual dinners at El Torito's all over Los Angeles County for over 30 years now. But our last visit, about 1 week ago. We had a reservation, got there 5 minutes before our reservation, and they made us wait 40 minutes for our table. Also, as we we were waiting for our table, 3 different family's had came in after us (a party of 5 guests, then 4 guests, then 2 guests) and they were all seated within 5 minutes! Oh and we were a party of 4 guest btw. Anyways, once we finally got our table... we noticed it was a little wobbly. Which happens all the time, we just fold up a piece of paper a bunch of times and put it under one of the legs. Instant fix. But this time as I lift the table cloth to see which leg to put it under... I realized they literally pulled out one of those plastic folding picnic tables! And grabbed chairs from other tables and made tried to cover up that it was a damn plastic folding table! That's all I'm gonna say. That should be enough for you to understand the service at this location. Oh and another thing... the staff at this location has the WORST attitude and the WORST service out of the many other locations we go to. That being said. If you want to try out an El Torito that has staff with amazing personalities and great service. I HIGHLY suggest the location on Ventura Blvd. I don't remember the exact location right now... but thats our favorite El Torito. I could be wrong but I believe it's in Tarzana. Revised review: Now that I've tried this place a handful of times, I'm lowering my rating to 2/5 stars. My husband and I have only sat at the bar and the service has been hit or miss. There seems to be only one person working the tables in the bar area and when they're busy the service is pretty slow. The server is definitely running around and working hard but be prepared to wait for drinks and your check. It's also very hot in the restaurant. Not sure if the ac needs to be set at a lower temp or if it just can't keep up with the hot days. For food, the fajitas have been good the couple of times we've had them. The beans were sooo good the first time but I guess that was just a fluke. Since then, they have either been too watery, under seasoned and/or undercooked. For drinks, I've had the margarita flight a few times. The first time it was really good but the other times have been lacking in alcohol and inconsistent in preparation. For example, one of them had sugar on the rim and the next time it's salt. There is another El Torito not far from this one. We will try that one next and hope for the best... Old review: My husband and I went on a Saturday at 6pm and sat in the bar section in a somewhat private spot. It was a nice spot by the window. We were happy to see they have happy hour from 3-9 everyday. After we were seated, it took a while before our waiter greeted us. When he finally did he seemed very overwhelmed but nice. We ended up ordering their mini tacos, water and a beer to start. We waited a long time for anything to come. At one point he looked over at our table like he just remembered we were there then shortly after he brought us chips. We were nearly done with our chips before our drinks came then our tacos finally came. After he delivered our order he left in a hurry and we were not able to order anything else. He never checked in on us and we were already there for over 30mins at this point. We finished our tacos and waited for a bit longer until we looked around and saw people closer to the bar already receiving drinks and food after having only been there less than 10mins. We made the decision to move to the bar in order to be served. The bartender there helped us right away. He said the waiter was there by himself, which was obvious because he was running around like a mad man. Maybe the tall bald guy who was wandering around aimlessly should have stepped in and helped. We ended up ordering a Margarita flight and the steak and shrimp plate. High praise to the pinto beans, some of the best I've ever had. The steak had a good flavor but was nearly impossible to chew. We spit most of it out. Everything else on the plate was good. We will probably return and only sit at the bar. I may edit my review after another visit if the service improves.

Sat at the bar ordered happy hour drafts and some food. Took a good while for both. Gustavo served my draft in a margarita cup, and later double charged me when it was time to leave. I believe the guy gustabo should not be serving drinks this way and needs some attention to detail for over charging customers.

I went to this location for my Uncle's birthday today and I must say I was unimpressed. The service was subpar and they messed up my togo order. I ordered sour cream enchiladas with double rice, no beans. Mind you, I placed a Togo order for my food, so I could go home and enjoy it. When I got home and sat down to eat my food, I found that they had placed beans on my plate, scraped it off and covered the beans that they couldn't get off with rice. They don't know if I was allergic or not. They gave me the same plate with beans on it, even though I asked the waitress to make sure there were none on my plate. I am very disappointed, it seems like they were more concerned with saving a few coins on a Togo plate, vs giving me a new plate with no beans on. This would have been worse if I was allergic to the item I asked them not to put on my plate. Smh..

The food was served cold. I went on a day that wasn’t busy, yet I waited a total of about 40 minutes for my meal to arrive. The waitress didn’t bring me a fork or knife, so I had to take them from another table. Napkins weren’t provided either, and there were no salsas. I asked if someone else could help me, but unfortunately, no one did.

Went for LUNCH buffet with 3 people. LMAO 80 dollars for burnt enchiladas (I mean really burnt) and some other half decent stuff. The flans had obviously been sitting for hours and the other cake dessert was so rock hard it was laughable. Couldn't believe it when I saw the bill. Eighty dollars plus. Servers were nice and all but don't bother. Just go somewhere else for lunch.
