Recensioni di Sea Fresh Seafood Ojai
The food is delicious and plentiful, the service was great and our waitress was tentative. I was there with my 2 cousins and we all enjoyed our lunch. I will go again soon but with my wife this time.
We had insanely good oysters, clam chowder, and trout. Definitely coming back next time we’re in the area.
Wow! We just had the loveliest dinner. The trout was exceptional as were the scallops and cham chowder (a family recipe). Our server was attentive and funny. The bussers efficient and the ambitious perfect for a cool summer evening. Can't wait to go back.
Nice place in the middle of main street Ojai, we always found something fresh from the sea here.
Very nice place. A lot of outdoor tables. Pet friendly, great seafood counter if you want to bring some fresh fish home to cook for dinner.
Wow, hard pressed to ever go back. Use to love this place, have dine there many times but today I realized I don't like the direction the restaurant is going My fish was rubbery even the manager said he had not ever seen a piece of fish like that before, the grilled artichoke was reheated many times and over boiled , in the past they were fantastic. Help was not the usual had some guy that could care less dropped the food off a ran. It was so bad I won't be returning to many other places in the area to try, so sad I use to really like this place.
Very cool restaurant with lots of shaded outdoor seating with a view of the street. Great for people watching. Large menu with plenty of delicious food options. They even have a separate sushi menu. The food seems mostly upscale but the prices are definitely cheaper than other similar places. The menu has a big selection of delicious, refreshing beverages.
Been here 3 times so far and have always had great service. Being an ex pat from the UK, I love my fish & chips and in the last 15 years have tried this dish in many, many restaurants in California. Each time I have visited Sea Fresh with my wife, I have always been hugely impressed with the food and the service. I'd like to give a big shout out to our servers - Shelby and Jackie who were very attentive and always did a great job in making our dining experience highly enjoyable. Looking forward to returning soon.
Brought my family here on New Years Day while they were visiting from Arizona and our service was fantastic. Scott , our server was was extremely helpful about making sure my brother in law who has a pepper allergy did not get any in the food he ordered. He was funny, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. I myself ordered the Melissa roll and it was as tasty as always. Thank you for making my family feel cared for!
Excellent food. The Mexican Shrimp Cocktail was amazing. I ordered the seafood pasta while my husband ordered the Halibut....both had great flavor. The owner came out and talked with us and seemed like a very genuine guy. Highly recommended.
Sushi here is AMAZING! Sat at the bar and watched the sushi chef work incredibly hard to create some very pretty rolls. Rice is something I try to pay attention to on my sushi too and the rice here was literally perfect and some of the best I've had in the area!
This is consistently one of the best places to eat in the county. The food is always amazing .The service is always top notch From Tammy to MO and Rochelle. Colin the bus boy never stops moving.Always working We always say the service is so amazing the great food is a bonus They always treat us like family. The owners must treat their employees amazingly because it shows in the great attitudes I recommend this place to anyone who visits Ojai
We loved Orlando! He is an excellent waiter who goes above and beyond to make the experience smooth and great. The drinks are fantastic, The dips for the artichokes are addicting, and we loved our main courses. Great ambience, great staff, and a good time!
excellent food. Very experienced wait staff and friendly. The atmosphere is very nice. can be a bit loud but I had a very nice experience.
We were in Ojai for a brief getaway and we were there on a Sunday evening after most of the tourists had left. We decided to try Sea Fresh Ojai for dinner. Our experience was stellar! Easy outside seating, EXCELLENT service by server, Orlando. The meal came out fairly quickly and tasted wonderful. It was a great experience.
It was perfect day off for me and my friends. One of my friend is pescatarian so we were looking for seafood place. It was little chilly but the waitress asked us right away that we want heater to be on. We had seafood Cobb salad, pasta and fish&chips. All the dishes are good and size was so good. We could not finish everything. Our Waitress was very friendly and attentive! I saw they have space for selling fresh seafood. I didn’t get anything because we were about to start our day. Maybe next time I can stop by end of our trip in ojai. I truly enjoyed all the dishes and hospitality. I’ll be back again
Outdoor didning is just off the street but feels very protected and is under a roof. Its nice. The food is very good, we got fish tacos with avocado on the side and loved it. Very friendly and accommodating staff!
Deliciously grilled fresh seafood, I had pacific red snapper one night, and swordfish on another, with a good selection of fresh side dishes. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed, not stuffy like the other newer, more trendy, hip, overpriced dinner places in town. I wished I would have dined here earlier in the week of my vacation. The drinks were not overpriced, and they were tasty.... I recommend the Lorie's lavender lemonade lemon drop. 🍋 they also accommodate dietary restrictions unlike the more "regal" dinner place nearby.
Great experience. I love all the food at this restaurant.
Wanted a “light lunch” so just ordered a salad. It was beautifully presented, but much larger than I had expected, although I did eat most of it, just leaving some lettuce! Really like Sea Fresh, food is always of a good standard, and large portions. Highly recommended.
We went to the outdoor book store, which was a lot of fun 😁 we wanted lunch, one of my daughters suggested Sea Fresh. Once we got there, a bubbly hostess with a big smile seated us in a beautiful patio area.
The staff at this restaurant is kind, helpful, and on it. The wait was not long for our order. Granted, we went for an early dinner, late lunch, so there was not a lot of action. I had the burger and fries with a Mai Tai. Tripple yum. My honey had the fish and chips with a Topa Topa Chief Peak beer. He was satisfied. Always love going here, always will probably.
I go here for the blackened salmon salad... Usually get it to go but the restaurant has a nice patio and plenty of indoor seating...
Excellent, fresh food. We had to wait for 5-10 mins as we hadn’t reserved and it’s a very popular place apparently (no surprise!). But we thoroughly enjoyed the food & drinks and we had such a good time!
We were in Ojai for the first time a few weeks ago and we were in the mood for seafood. At Sea fresh, I ordered Wild Pacific sand dabs which comes with rice pilaf. The rice pilaf was very dense, didn't eat much of it but the fish was great. My husband got fish and chips, and the fish was excellent as well. Nice atmosphere, attentive waiters. We didn't find a place inside so we have to seat in the patio and the heat was just terrible, I wish there was a fan, maybe it's just because we're not from the area. We didn't have to wait tough. They also have live lobster and fresh fish for sale.
Nestled in the quaint, small town of Ojai, this restaurant has a large variety of tasty dishes. Great views of the stunning mountains surrounding this area, the food and service is excellent. Walk around this unique village, warning to men.... she's going to drag you into all the cute boutique shops!
We stopped by for a later dinner while visiting Ojai for a conference. Our server was extremely sweet and made our experience - he checked in regularly and gave an update on food and drink orders. Food came out timely and was tasty - we had their salmon teriyaki, which came with a good mix of vegetables, and the trout which is a restaurant favorite. We dined outside as the weather was perfect and got to see the sunset. We would recommend if looking for a reasonably priced bite with friendly service.
Excellent food Very reasonably priced. Great service. Was a little loud so not a place for an intimate dinner but everything was wonderful and huge selection of menu items! Wine bottle prices werei a nice surprise and Steve our waiter was great. We had a large group and he was willing to do separate checks! Also offers an ability to purchase fresh fish
Went during happy hour. Of course had Chris' famous garlic roll ✔️- melts in your mouth, fried zuchini- delicious, garlic edemame- a little heavy on the oil, salmon taco (generously sized), potato skins- good, and peach cobbler- not super sweet, which i really enjoyed. Sat on the outside patio on a warm sunny eve. Fire pit nearby provided some warmth.
Happy hour Monday thru Friday starting at 2pm, with special menu for something tasty to try with your beverage. Breakfast available on weekends too. The dinner menu has so many options, trying something new each time we go is easy. Also a great spot to take friends and family. When you're in Ojai, California, stop by for excellent food, friendly service and refreshing drinks. So glad I finally tried Seafresh, was recommended by a client years ago, she was right on point give Seafresh a try.🔮
Love this place. It's centrally located and very good ambience. Plenty of outdoor seating area, we were seated in the outdoor patio. The waiter Orlando was very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was served pretty soon after ordering and it was Amazing. The seafood options were very fresh and juicy , I loved it.
Pretty good spot and sushi considering location. Pretty affordable too. Loved the white dragon specialty rolls. Pink moment was not my favorite. Also had a plate of fish and chips which was pretty good and really liked the garlic edamame. There was no wait when I went and they were open Veterans day.
Good food at reasonable prices. The service was great. The dining room inside is a little drab inside but the outside dining area is nice (although Ojai is often scorching). I would visit again.
The entrance from the street is flanked on either side by spacious exterior patio dining areas; perfect for enjoying temperature weather and quaint townsfolk. The menu is sizable, with a decent variety of appetizers, salads and entrees. The wine list is robust. The service was great, but the food was just average.
This is an update. Some friends and I went for lunch yesterday and had a great lunch. The ceviche was delicious as was the zucchini appetizer. Also the clam chowder and southwest salad were great. Service was great. We sat where you can have dogs on the patio and were very comfortable. We will be back! Tried again. So disappointed. I asked to substitute blackened wild salmon for the crab and shrimp which i did receive but instead of avocado I received cucumbers and tomatoes. The salmon was mushy not firm and had a fishy taste. Paid extra for the salmon. There was red onion, egg and blue cheese crumbles but I was looking forward to the avocado. 😔 Keep trying. We use to love Sea Fresh but there food has gone downhill. Husband had oysters Rockefeller but only ate half because he said they were not very good. I had tuna on fire and the tuna was cooked all the way through. It is meant to be seared. Nice patio. Service o.k. but not great. Had breakfast there and it was good but dinner I would go somewhere else for the money. Sad we use to go there once a week.
Oyster and mussle appetizers were fresh! My Snow Roll and my wife's fish and chips were great too. Normally, when sushi is an addition to a restaurant's main menu, I'm used to it being subpar, so the quality of this roll was a surpassed expectation. My favorite part of the meal ironically though actually wasn't the food, but this fantastic beer by Figueroa Mountain. If the Mosiac Ale is still on tap when you come, try this beer. It paired well with everything and as a whole, I just love the taste of Mosiac hops with their addition of Amarillo.
Great food!!! Outdoor patios need to be freshened up to modern decor. I done here several times per year. I live 80 miles away!
Great patio with lots of food options. Fried Zucchini is hit or miss. Sometimes it is super crunchy and sometimes it can be a bit soggy. Not sure why the range of experience. Tacos are great, service is fantastic with really great people. Other really tasty item is the ceviche. Patio is covered and excellent if you bring a furry friend(s).
This was a recommendation, the service was as good as it got for either the staff was very new, or just tired. Perhaps arriving at 8pm was late for the restaurant. Main course was brought along with the oysters, and by the time we ordered the dessert, the heating was turned off on us. They were perhaps having a bad day, but I won't be heading that way again.
The place is good but the food is bland! My salmon was very bad, rice without salt and the wasabi atum without seasoning.
Very nice patio. Dogs welcome. Good service. Shrimp mango ceviche was disappointing because it didn't have much flavor and the shrimp were quite chewy. Ahi poke bowl was good but didn't have the range of flavors we have had otherwise. Trout was good but caper butter was a bit overdone; the mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes. Period. Served in a scoop like you would get at the Army cafeteria. Overall, a very average experience and thus the 3 star rating.
With a name like Sea Fresh i expect allot more. I feel a bit bad because I really wanted it to be awesome. I've been there 5 times in the last month and each time I go with expectations that the last time was just a fluke but the sushi just doesn't have the flavor of freshness. Mind you it is NOT BAD FOOD. It is decent. It just isn't what I had hoped. Its got a good bar. It has great service. It is a good place to go if you are getting drinks but the seafood is not all that.
The food was very good. We had seafood : oysters, shrimp, etc. And we liked it very much. Outdoor seating was very pleasant. Unfortunately, one of our family members received very poor service. Therefore, I'm not able to provide a satisfactory score for service and atmosphere. The server made for a very disappointing experience. If the company is interested in details, let me know who I may call.
We went to Sea Fresh for our dinner date night. The seating is nice on an outdoor patio that is enclosed with heating. It was a little loud once the restaurant began to fill up. I could hear conversations from the other tables. Overall, the food was good, but basic. I ordered grilled artichoke, beet salad and the blackened salmon. The artichoke was fine. The beet salad was a letdown. It was large and the beets needed to be bite size. The flavor was over powering with too much cheese. The salmon was fresh but nothing special about it. I really wanted to be wowed, but it was just basic and ok.
Not sure if I hit it on an off night, considering the positive reviews. The clam chowder wasn't anything special; it was pretty bland. As was the greasy fried zucchini. The blackened salmon salad was a tasty dish, and the seafood pasta has generous amounts of seafood. The restaurant offers fresh seafood to go by the pound. In general the seafood was fresh, but the dishes disappointed in the flavor department. Salt and pepper were necessary table items. The service was very good.
I've been coming to Sea Fresh for many years. I remember when the full order of crab and shrimp Louie salad was $17 and it was a big salad. Now you get effectively a half order for $25 with much less seafood. The channel islands location makes it much better. Parmesan crusted cod was tasty but the crust was a bit soggy. Good beer selection and it was served ice cold. But still kind of disappointing for a $65+ (with tip) lunch.
Everyone was very nice and the fish was fresh but it does take effort to ruin the flavor of fresh fish. A common palate my like these dishes but I grew up in a village by the sea in italy and it's sad to taste fresh mussels served in a hospital broth. Fresh fish's flavor must be enhanced not covered. Pricy for what it is. Grateful for the server that was kind and professional.
Came here for sushi as advertised. They don't serve sushi anymore apparently. But the food we did get was decent and Carlos was a top notch server. A disappointing experience for sure but I've had much worse elsewhere.
Friendly ambiance, attentive service, but most dishes were lackluster. Oysters were bland and served with what looked like ketchup and vinegar instead of cocktail and mignonette sauces. Ceviche had no citrus tang, wasabi ahi tuna tasted frozen. Only the cod fish & chips stood out, so I would stick with fried and avoid the fresh options here.
My server, Vanessa, was absolutely amazing. She knew the menu, made great recommendations after asking the right questions and was prompt, courteous, engaging, and just has a great personality. The drinks were mid. Our starter, calamari, was delicious and gave me high expectations for the entrees. Unfortunately, the menu was uninspired and uninspiring for the most part. That being the case I decided for the Captains Combo, a fish & chip deal with added fried shrimp. There was more breading than fish, and the over all flavor was just lacking.
The food was bland. The honey mustard chicken was tasteless. The clam chowder was Luke warm. Soup should be steaming hot. I don't think I will be visiting any time soon.
Everything is from a box. The staff are lovely, but not knowledgeable about the food - when they come back and say “I check the ingredients list for the box of coleslaw/bottle of teriyaki etc…” you know you’ve come to somewhere where the food is going to be sub par and not worth the value you’re paying for it. The mango prawn ceviche was huge and vile. The stomach lines were still in the prawns, so they tasted foul. I think the mango was tinned. The lime juice tasted like it was from one of those plastic fake lime bottles. Two stars because the rosé wine was nice, and our waitress was very sweet.
Beautiful outside area. The inside isn’t as appealing. Staff is very nice. I order sand dabs whenever they are on a menu but was so disappointed with my order. The platter also came with rice pilaf that was also very disappointing. Won’t be going back.
A shell of its former glory. They forgot what someone in my party ordered. Negative attitude from our server. Stated that they have a bad bar tender. Food made my wife throw up. Pass on this one.
Service was off. We had finished 12 oysters, and were ready to order while still waiting for drinks. We never got water. We both had fish. It was quite overcooked and dry, while remaining fairly tasteless. All in all we wish we had made a different choice of restaurant.
Food (4/10) (Oysters and sushi order. The no name oysters were questionable. Sushi does not get cranked out here. I hope their regular food is a lot better.) Waitress (5/10) (Was nice but not really efficient in her waiting skills. Could be because we had dinner on Sat at 730pm, but capacity was definitely at 60-70% when I arrived. Also she could be new. ) Mario (8/10) (Bussing tables or waiter? He should be switched over since he is definitely more personal with the customers while still doing his job.) Flew in from NE for a wedding and decided to visit Ojai which I only heard good things from. Tried this restaurant out as I’m a big sushi and oyster person. Overall sushi experience is that you shouldn’t even try it. Not worth the money. Kind of disappointing since they definitely have prime location. I didn’t try any of their entrees on the menu (which I hope is their specialty). Service could be a lot better. Slow but I’m coming from the city where everything is so much faster and efficient that I kind of should have expected this. First, our drinks came at a reasonable time. Second, our oysters and tartar came only when our waitress looked over at our table and paused while we, gf and I, looked back and she realized we are still waiting for our apps. Third, Mario got rid of our empty dishes quickly which was good). Fourth, waiting on our sushi to come out as I watched the ‘sushi chef’ complete our order already. 10mins go by as waitress is punching in another order at this time which is fine but Mario came to the rescue again and served us our food with requested to get me an extra serving dish because my first one was switched out because it was dirty. Fifth, water was drunken out of a 12oz cup I believe quick and couldn’t get a refill as our waitress was 100% giving an older crowd better service. Sixth, we had to find her to ask for the check which she forgot once more which took 2seconds to do once she realized again. Total was around 111 tipped 20% and tipped Mario $10 on top because he was the actual waiter of my table. My waitress only came to our table for our orders. Only came once to see if we needed an extra drink after we finished our oysters. Overall, not that great of an experience because of ticket times and food quality. Servers were decent. Figured if it’s in a prime location for tourists there would be more quality, but got the opposite. Oysters on a half shell (3/10) (One type of oysters which wasn’t listed. Very basic oysters that were warm and not shucked correctly. We had to get them out ourselves.) Louisiana charbroiled oysters (3/10) (I wasn’t expecting them to be close at all to NOLA but I couldn’t pass them up. Said it was cooked with butter but I barely got any.) Spicy tuna tartar (6/10) (More like a ahi poke stacked on avocado. The wasabi cream sauce was the only best part of the dish.) Texas Mule (8/10) (Can’t mess this up, right?) Mojito (6/10) (GF had this. At least they had mint in stock.) Tigers Eye Roll (3/10) (Not great. Seafood to rice ratio wasn’t the greatest. Eel sauce good.) Mike’s Shrimp roll (5/10) (Ratio was a bit better as the veggies helped. Better sushi then the rest imo.) 2x Salmon Nigiri (4/10) (Discoloration in first cut of salmon. Big is not always better especially if your rice isn’t warm either. Big fish portions which through off the taste.) 1x Yellowtail Nigiri (3/10) (Again disproportionate fish to rice ratio. Rice was formed in a mold before topped fish.) 1x Escolar Nigiri (3/10) (Same comment as above.) Wasabi, Ginger, and low sodium soy (All normal)
Sat outside, nice evening. Ordered drinks. Asked the server where the oysters were from she said she didn't know, but went inside and came out and said they were from some island in Washington. Okay lol. Then ordered appetizer, dozen oysters. After we finished our oysters or drinks came. Wondering why we didn't receive water or even offered any. Weird. Server said the bar is slow. Ordered two different fish dishes, and as the server said it may not be great, she was correct, dry and over cooked. Was celebrating my birthday, server knew this....um do you guys offer a happy birthday dessert or something? Not offered or even asked if wanted dessert. Hum. Sea Fresh is not a great place. Best thing, we made new friends from the table next to us. They joined us, we had such a great time with them, we forgot how poor the food and service was. Cheers to meeting new friends! Our local friend had recommended going to Boccali's Pizza and Pasta, next time we will go there. Not returning or recommending Sea Fresh. The oysters we good, but that's it. Fairly disappointing.
We got oysters, tuna poke and linguine with clams. Unfortunately we returned everything. I've never done that before but in my opinion nothing was fresh. The oysters in particular were old and mushy and tasted like the sea but not in that good refreshing way. The clams also tasted old and the pasta was dry. Our server was very kind and apologetic. The manager came out a little hot defending the food quality but then comped all the food which was very nice. Maybe it was just a bad day but I won't be going there again.
Local here, bought expensive sea bass from their fish counter. Got it home, opened it up, and it smelled like a rotten dead body. I'm not sure I really want to even eat in the restaurant again after this. What a waste of money.
Chicken picatta, chicken was ridiculously overcooked, portion is sad. Butter sauce? Good luck. It had maybe enough for the first two bites. If I didn't know any better I would think they are portioning for the kids menu. I'm so disappointed that I ordered this item. Do better sea fresh.
Was a fended from the redness of the management. One of the party order a beer and was told no because this is a family restaurant and we don't serve drunks. This man had nothing to drink before getting there, not one single drop. He ordered steak well done and it was bleeding when it came out. He sent it back and it was still bleeding when it came back out. Sorry place to eat if you want good food. Also told management that we needed bill spit and she walked away and did not give us do what was asked. Don't go here
Sadly, this rates as the second worst experience to date. We were super excited to dine here, as my girlfriend had regaled me with tales of her experiences here with her mother while visiting Ojai. Upon arrival at 6:58 pm Wednesday, we were promptly shown to a seat outside wherein we placed our hands on an exceedingly dirty and dusty table top surface for the next 12 minutes to wait. And wait. And WAIT..... We were NEVER SERVED. The lone server in our area was at each of the 3 other occupied table around us, making banter, clearing dishes, taking orders, and clearing more dishes. At one point, the server looked directly at me, EVEN made eye contact, and then walked away to see to other tables. A party of 4 were seated in our area almost a full 10 minutes after we were seated, and the server began take their orders as well. *(why any server would do so is beyond me. I can only wonder IF it was because he judged me as a bad tipper, because I am a Dark Skinned Native American Man??) That was the point we got up to leave. I informed the hostess *(who was LAZILY leaning across her podium, and did not stand straight to address us at any time) of what had just occurred over the last 12 minutes, and WHY WE WERE LEAVING. WITHOUT offering a single word of apology, she simply said, "well, if you come back in, I can get you started." Why would we, when our taste was already soured by the negligence and lack of professionalism or even sympathy. We'll probably never be back to this place, unless of course the Owners felt compelled to reach out and express empathy and some sort of restitutional compensation for our time and ULTIMATE NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE.
Disappointing experience overall. We waited over an hour for our food, and when it finally arrived, the fish had a bitter taste and was partially undercooked. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and when I mentioned this to our server at the end, she didn’t offer an apology or even bring water. Very underwhelming service and food quality.
None of the food seems truly fresh, including most of the seafood. The staff usually seems busy/overwhelmed even when there aren't any customers, they are friendly and seem to be trying so feels more like restaurant policies that don't serve the wait staff or customers. If you want previously frozen, deep fried fish or you don't mind the chain-diner style food this may be the place to go. I've been here with some locals a few times who do enjoy it themselves (I've learned to stay away from most everything personally) but when visiting recently with some family from out of town we were disappointed with everything and seemed like an unfortunate waste.
Stood in the rain for a few minutes as directed by "Please wait to be seated" sign. Finally sat ourselves outside under a heater. Rude employee came out with a look and asked if we wanted menus and stuff. We said, "Yes please" and "Thank you" while she said nothing as she gave the menus to us and left. Same employee came by twice, once to drop food and second time to drop Togo box to a table right next to ours, never saying a word. Waited another minute and then left. I guess seating ourselves broke the rules. Won't get into possible race issues, but something pissed her off. Will likely call the owner and/or manager because damm it, I really wanted fish and chips.
On a night with only half the tables occupied, and almost an hour after being seated, I'd received only a single drink and a cup of chowder. Service was so poor, I paid my tab and left to get dinner elsewhere.
My daughter and I ate there Thursday 12/5/25. We had Oysters Rockefeller, Grilled Oysters, Grilled Artichoke and Fish tacos. Both of us were violently ill within the hour. The symptoms were textbook for oysters not kept at proper temps. Thanks Sea Fresh for ruining one of my FAVORITE things. I cannot see a picture of an oyster without feeling ill now. The manager, Andrew, could not be bothered to come to the phone when I called to let them know and the owner has not returned my call. They do not seem concerned with food safety or their customer's well being. Go at your own risk. Note: I have been going there for YEARS without any issues prior. I don't know if they had a change in ownership or management but I don't see us going back.
