Classy place compared to local barnacle businesses. Good oysters, fish and chips was spectacular. The fried brussel sprouts were out of this world. Server wrote down a list of local activities to enjoy.
This is the best place anywhere near the point Ray’s national Park. They have a nightly special which includes wine, dessert and the whole thing for super reasonable price. It’s not the price. It’s the quality of the food. My foodie friends come all the way from San Francisco just to come and eat here because of the lovely food. I had my Thanksgiving dinner here and I’ll give you a picture down below. Great place and great servers also.
We stopped by to charge our tesla on our way up the coast, and decided to get some food, as the reviews were good. The reviews didn't lie, we loved it! The seafood was extremely fresh and delicately cooked by the chef. The calamari was tender. The shrimp was fantastic with a freshly shrimp flavor many can't quite manage. The clam chowder was thick and creamy but did not overpower the clams. They have a good selection of curated cocktails. And the ambiance is warm and intimate. What a nice restaurant. Only downside was they weren't open for our drive back. 🥲 We definitely plan to stop again on our next trip up the coast. Can't wait to try their oysters.
We enjoyed Due West so much on our trip we're going to eat here twice! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food and mixed drinks are superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the mussels and clams, my family also had the fish and chips, clam chowder, and although there's no kids menu they have the most delicious noodles with butter or chicken tenders. The wide noodles looked like pappardelle. We also loved the calamari and even the lemon slices were breaded and fried and we ate those too!
What a gem! We’ve been coming to Point Reyes Station for years but just discovered this sweet little compound of inn, tavern, and cafe/market in Olema (less than 5 mins south of PRS!). Due West delivers on charm, delicious fresh food (oysters, mussels, burgers, eat ALL of it), and friendly local service. I highly recommend you venture out of the busy spots (that are also good, of course) and check out Due West. You will not be disappointed.
Not sure why there are any negative reviews but my experience was perfect!!! I heard many compliments from other diners about how wonderful the main entrees were from the wild boar Ragu to the chorizo mussels... the happy hour menu is great and the oysters are are half price during this time also local from the oysters here in Point Reyes. The restaurant as I walked in had the most delectable smell of garlic truffle fries and they tasted as good as Due West smelled. Staff was beautifully hospitable from the host to bartenders to servers to busers....being from the south you don't expect to get hospitality the same out west but you sure can find it here. The restuarant is charming with relics and photos from times past in the Olema Valley. I highly suggest a stop here if you are staying or passing through.
Great service and cocktails. Had the cioppino for dinner which was outstanding and very rich (in a good way - lots of flavor). The cheese board was really good as well with all locally sourced cheese.
The food is amazing! Service is a bit slow if you’re sitting outside but otherwise really great service. We love this highway 1 small town restaurant and are determined to keep coming back until we can try their clam chowder (we’ve been here twice towards the late afternoon and they’ve run out of it every time).
A great place to stop for food after spending a day in Point Reyes park. We had choppino and cod, both turned out very well, with taste and presentation over quantity. Great selection of craft beers on tap and cocktails. The service is good, but it looks like they are still remembering what it is like when people are dining in.
Stopped into Due West after a hike in Point Reyes, and we're really glad we did! It's a small gastro pub with indoor, outdoor and bar seating. The draft beer rotates on tap aswell as the canned and bottle selection. I tried a local beer and cider based on recommendation from the friendly staff. The half chicken was a good sized portion properly cooked and juicy, though it could have done with some more vegetables. The steak and frites were well seasoned and felt like a slightly too small portion post hiking. A number of people were having a pre-dinner drink before heading over to the restaurant across the road which seemed a great spot also, but not as relaxed. We'll be going again.
Great food, nice and beautiful spot. Steak and fries was excellent. One of my favorite food stops of my road trip.
We ran away Marin for Thanksgiving last year and Due West Tavern and its staff made it memorable. Thank you 🙏
Friendly staff that worked well as a team. Low-key, no pressure, West Marin pitch perfect—and the food was delish with fresh local rock cod. Thank you for exceeding my expectations.
Best burger I ever had! I would definitely recommend, the garlic fries were also amazing, customer service was great and I would definitely come again.👍
Ended up here without planning. I am glad we chose to eat here. The service is A+ environment A+ the food is AA++ delicious. I will definitely come here again when I'm in the area.
This is our favorite dinner place in the Tomales Bay Area. The four of us loved the place much we came back our second night ! The Caesar salad, burger, flat iron, steak, house Chardonnay, Pliny the Elder and more were amazing. It's been 2 years since our last time here and we think it has gotten better. Thank you ❤️
Best fish and chips ever. Fantastic food and service. Beautiful location. Will make it a must stop at any time I’m in the area.
Omg if you're anywhere near Stinson, this is the stop. Discovered this lil gem on the way to the beach, enjoyed a meal and it was totally worth the drive. Made for a perfect day!
My wife and I stopped by for lunch. Great menu (pub fare) , service was good and very unobtrusive. I had a chicken sandwich with fries and a lemonade . Perhaps a little spendy
Gotta say this is a hidden gem. Everyone else seems to go up to Point Reyes without realizing high-quality food and beverages closer by.cozy and classy. Not cheap but of course.
Such a gem. A treat to eat here every time. So thankful this classy establishment is in West Marin. The best!
We unexpectedly happened upon this little gem during our trip to the west coast, and stopped in for lunch. The food was just wonderful, really nice menu, wine and cocktail offerings. Service was just a little slow but no matter - it was such a pleasant outdoor seating area. Could not have been happier. Highly recommend.
I live about 15 minutes away from Due West — and it's one of my favorite places in West Marin. It's a place I regularly go by myself when I want to read, have a glass of wine, and enjoy a quality dinner — and a place I regularly bring guests from out of town. They have arguably the best happy hour around (a la carte oysters, high-quality house wine, individual fish tacos, fries, etc., making it easy to construct a tapas-like meal from the happy hour menu, which I especially appreciate when I'm solo). And their new blue plate special M-F is a great deal. I love the ambiance of Due West anytime of year, whether cozied up inside in the winter or outside on a warm day. When it's nice out, I sometimes bring my dog and let him frolic in the creek behind the hotel before dinner. The dishes are always quality and fresh. The ambiance is so cozy (some of the greatest gallery walls, rich with history, around). The wine and cocktail lists are great. And the staff, many long-timers, are wonderful. Due West will always be a place I favor and support. One suggestion: Please bring back the Beyond Burger; it was a favorite dish (and I'm not even vegetarian!)
We had an excellent meal here. Food was outstanding. We had fresh oysters, calamari and hanger steak. Dessert was creme brulee. Oysters were very creamy and the calamar cooked perfectly. The hanger steak was exactly medium rare and very tasty. Margarita was on point. I'd say this was one of the best meals I have had anywhere. Our server, Nina V was attentive and made great recommendations.
Oh my heavens! My partner and I were on a lovely romantic getaway and as we were about to drive through this quaint four-way stop, I just felt pulled to turn into the parking lot to the right. I'm SO glad I followed my gut! First of all, the stop is absolutely picturesque with a vintage vibe, but when you step into Due West Tavern, you're met with a gorgeously-decorated, elegant atmosphere. The beautiful Mayra was our server and she made us feel right at home and recommended a cocktail (Heart's Delight) and the AMAZING fried brussels sprouts - these things are culinary perfection. Everything my partner and I ate was fantastic - one of THE best ceasar salads I've ever had. The restaurant manager invited us to walk back to the creekside garden where, we're told, they host live music on special weekends. Next door is a charming bed and breakfast - so romantic! I will definitely put staying a night in Olema on my to-do list in the near future.
Stopped in because we were starving, Ben the bartender was fantastic, let's us know all the fish was locally caught, oysters fresh AND local, he made a fantastic coastal Manhattan that my brother loves. And the fish and chips, the chicken entree, were all incredible. For just being hungry and stopping at a random place, this was such a wonderful surprise.
I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here for a couple decades- off and on. It's like a trip down memory lane. The oysters here are absolutely incredible! The best oysters ive ever tasted still till this day. The first fresh oysters I ever had. It's the oysters they serve during happy hour which are my favorites! How can I explain this..? They have this fresh grassy taste? Luv luv luv The air smells like salt water and Eucalyptus.. The steaks are also good. And considering that people are paying over $1,000 per night tonight at the olema house next door... Their food prices aren't that bad considering the quality of food they serve.
It's an unassuming tavern but don't let that fool you - the drinks and food are both excellent. We started with a tavern salad, which was nice and light. And thank goodness, because we had the chicken and short rib as our entrees, and those were both rich. All dishes were cooked perfectly, and prepared fully gluten free. Traveling with Celiac Disease can be stressful, but their staff was knowledgeable and made sure I felt comfortable. We definitely recommend this stop if you're staying in the area, or just passing through.
Sweet little tavern in Olema. We had oysters, smoked salmon croquettes, poached eggs, and the best New York steak! The waitress was delightful. Don’t miss it.
We were staying around the corner and were delighted to find this gem within walking distance. Great drinks and food at prices that were not unreasonable considering it's the California coast, and the friendly service (including a dog-friendly patio) were a great way to end the day after our long drive here.
We booked for 6:30 on a Monday night and a few tables were already seated. Over the next hour the place started to fill. I love the variety of seating options on offer. (main dining, high top with furry chairs, outdoor with heated lamps) In Open Table there is a description of this place being a pub. The decor is true to that with dark wooden walls, bookkeeper lamps and pictures of horses and meadows on the walls. Our neighbors were all tucking into fish & chips, too! We enjoyed the chicken liver starter along with the fresh local green salad. The miso cure cod was tasty however I thought the carrots were overcooked. Rum raisin bread pudding ala mode was so tasty. I told myself I would eat a quarter but ate my share.
37 days into our road trip and we've been avoiding Fish and Chips. To my surprise, my partner selected Fish & Chips with the excuse that I make better Ghindara at home. I still like to sample other chef's black cod so I chose the Local Black Cod. My partner was right, the miso marinated black cod I make at home is better, and we both ended up wish we had order each other's dish. This place seems to be frequented by regulars so it doesn't feel touristy at all. We sat on the side with the bar tables, and the dark wood reminded us of the pubs in the UK that we really miss. The service was good, and we finished with Apple Cake. Yes, this place will make it to our list of restaurants for Inverness and Point Reyes.
We had a group of five for dinner. Nice atmosphere and plenty of staff. My companions raved about the Mussels, Fish & Chips, Cesare Salad, and the burger. It all looked great. I chose the Local Black Cod in a lemon fish sauce. It was underwhelming. Small portion (3-4oz) and the sauce was bland. There were a few slices of potatoes and slivers of veggies, but the overall size of the meal was small. It did not measure up to the price. A side note: the bill had a 5% “Living Wage” addition, and our group wasn’t sure what to tip. (Our issue, really. But I thought I’d mention it)
Nice standard restaurant. Particularly convenient if you are staying at the olema house. Wait staff was friendly and pretty attentive. The food was ok, but not great. The avocado deviled eggs replaced the yokes with guacamole, which has a very different flavor. The beef rib was fall of the bone tender, which was very good. They served it with potatoes, which were good, and pickled vegetables, which felt like they were just thrown on the plate to get some acid. More thought on how they were paired and presented would have been good.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was charming. Service was a little slow. I had the grilled cheese with bacon and the tomato soup. Wayne ordered a hamburger and fries. They were both top notch.
Really beautiful facility right at the stop sign in Olema. Great location between the other shop, the inns/motels in Olema, and a nice short walk from Olema Campground. Nice staff -- good for a tourist crowd. The food is not quite vegan friendly so we did a couple vegetarian things while we were there. Very good food though.
Fish & chips was good but pricey given the portion size. Nice atmosphere, but there are better food options in Point Reyes Station, e.g. Side Street Kitchen and Station House Cafe.
Great food and good beers. Service was average. The atmosphere was good. Parking wasn’t a problem.
Each night of the week there is a fixed price special that includes salad, main course and a glass of very good house wine (red or white). I had the chicken picatta and it was very good. Service was excellent and friendly. Menu in general is somewhat limited but choices sounded quite good.
Had the pan seared duck 🦆 and it was very good 👍. Did not like the 5% surcharge before tax & tip. The only lvl 2 charger does not accept non-Tesla vehicles; all other chargers are Tesla lvl 3. Cop likes to hang out between the chargers not charging.
Maybe because it was mother's day, but the service wasn't that friendly with me, except for the manager or owner: some rash answers and other small things. I was hungry, but even though the hamburger was average, no cooked as asked and small especially for a 20$ burger! No gluten free bread option.
Serviceable but unspectacular pub food. So-called BBQ Oysters were clearly grilled then slathered in a pool of sauce. On the plus side, the burger was excellent. Fish and chips were forgettable. Service was so-so.
Overall a nice family restaurant. Good service. Rather limited seafood and our one big gripe is that their raw oysters were not local but from Washington. My wife’s mushroom pot pie was fair but a little disappointing given the price. Cesar salad was good but the added salmon was somewhat bland farm raised. The Washington oysters were good but when you market yourself as local and even post local raw oysters (online and in the daily menu) but have no local oysters at all then that is a problem. The Hog Island oyster farm is only a couple miles away from the restaurant. We’re getting the real thing tomorrow.
Standard coffee with bad pastries. The blueberry muffin I had was tasteless, with patches of undercooked dough. Blueberries seem to actually just be food dye, and I’ve never had this problem in baked goods before but it’s under-salted? People are nice and cafe seating is cute.
We ordered clam chowder, and roasted chicken. Both are too salty. Other than that, service, atmosphere and view are good.
This review is based on our stay this Thanksgiving (November 28, around 7 pm). Food was wonderful and well-seasoned. Could probably lower the price by a bit. Service was a bit off based from our experience with the bartender. Not sure what his name is (he's around his 60's), but he was a bit rude and pushy in taking our orders and getting payments. We tried to tip him, but he seems like he wanted more, which we cannot give. Overall, the experience was good! I would come back to eat there again.
Food was pretty good but the service was just horrible. The restaurant wasn't busy, and we had to wait for someone to show up at the front to get us a table. Then, it took awhile for a server to show up to take an order. The servers didn't know what we ordered. Beverages were served after our meals came out. The only positive thing was that we were able to charge our car while we were waiting to eat...
Well the reviews of the fish and chips fell well well well short of reality. As a British person with over 3 million US fish and chip review views on Google I would say this was the absolute worst in the US so far. Under seasoned slimy undercooked oily batter with minimal fish lead to an extremely disappointing visit tonight. $165 for 4 people, understaffed, stressed service was at best an embarrassment. The chips tasted frozen and single fried. We was on a 3 night stay, and planned to go to the resteraunt every night, but this will not be happening. Paid the staff a very good cash tip as it certainly wasn't their fault. I would disappointingly say avoid at all costs, I feel ill after eating, it was that oily.
My dining experience here was probably the worst I have ever had due to an awful waitress assigned to our table. It was extremely uncomfortable; I explain more about the interactions below. Beyond the waitstaff, the food was overpriced and bland. I give it 2 stars because it's still decent and edible - but unfortunately, asking for something like an extra lemon or another ramekin will take 10 minutes, and will be met with extreme hostility by the server [at least the one that we had]. To clarify my statements about the experience: my friend and I went to get dinner here and it seemed like every word out of our mouths was met with eye rolls and a sense of our server *seething* at us. We were not loud, rude, and did not ask for any food substitutions - we were both a bit amused and then aghast at how awful our server's behavior was. Then, BEFORE we were finished she brought the check and the hand-held electronic card reader for us to quickly sign and fill out her tip while she was glaring us down. To quote the friend I was with, "yeah, she wants us out of here." I just couldn't understand what we did to offend her, or if she mistook me for someone else. We spent over 100 dollars for a 30 minute meal, and felt really unwanted. The tables behind us and next to us were empty, there was no line at the door - so it wasn't that server was trying to flip tables to get other people in. The main dining room was still full of diners when we left, we did not stay past closing time. The experience was just bizarre.
We experienced what appeared to be racial discrimination. Despite arriving first and being told to wait for table cleaning, two white customers who came in after us were immediately seated at the only remaining table. We had to leave.
