Awesome Mexican food and great service! We ordered the guacamole, which is made in front of you, customized level of hotness. Outstanding, had pomegranate seeds which I never had in guac and it really made it extra tasty! Tacos, burrito, and fajitas also great.

The guacamole was great, as was the roasted corn and jalapeno margarita. The service was exceptional in every way, and made our evening wonderful. I wasn't a fan of the relleno or enchilada but I'm also no gourmet eater, so it is entirely a taste preference and not a reflection on the food. For what it's worth, people were happily eating everything on their tables.

Simply, excellent tacos and an excellent tequila selection. I did not care for the chips that come with the salsa. They are too thick for my liking, but that's a personal choice so I only mention it, not to criticize the restaurant, but to let you know what to expect. But the service, tacos, and tequila made up for it!

I’m not sure how the food is, but I stopped and to pick up an order today for a customer and everybody was really nice and truly helpful. The place also was very neat and a very cool gift shop.

Great place to eat. They do not take reservations for big parties. So get there early to get a seat. Awesome drinks, food and environment. The staff was super nice and it seems like they enjoy working here. Would be nice if they were open later , great place to hang out with friends or family. Tacos, chips and salsa, and much more. Excellent!! Great place with lots of menu options. Queens Cooler very refreshing. Great taco options, mix and match and try something new. Chips and salsa (heat and no heat options) was delicious. We ordered Mexican shrimp cocktail it was delicious also. Our server Brooke was so nice and helpful. Thank you for making our lunch nice 😊

Hands down some of the best tacos I've had in my life. They were so accommodating with my no cilantro and lettuce shell. I ordered 3 different ones and inhaled the one before I took a photo. Each one tasted just as amazing as the other. There was so much flavor packed into them. My bartender was professional, kind, held good conversation, and was very accommodating. If I lived here, I wilt l would eat here all of the time.

Andrea was so sweet and a great server!! We are visiting from out of town and the vibe was great and authentic, we’ll have to come back the next time we’re around! Would reccomend the chili verde entree.

We were visiting Scottsdale and so glad we found this place! The guacamole was outstanding and everything tasted authentically Mexican. The outdoor seating was perfect, and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Definitely a highlight of our visit!

Excellent and authentic Mexican cuisine. Absolutely loved this place! The tacos were packed with flavor, and the guacamole tasted incredibly fresh. Every bite had the perfect balance of spice and seasoning. Definitely one of the best Mexican meals I’ve had — I’ll be back!

I have been to this location a few times and luckily, I’ve gotten the same great server which also turned out to be the bartender. Even while doing both sections, she was so attentive, sweet and just made our experience so great. I’m pretty sure her name was AJ. We will definitely go back again and actually request her this time just to make sure we have a great experience.

We had a great experience at Barrie Queen! AJ was absolutely wonderful, fast, friendly, and incredibly attentive. She gave fantastic recommendations and made the whole meal even better. We’ll definitely be coming back just because of the amazing service.

Great place for what appears to be authentic Mexican food. The Jalapeño margaritas are amazing. You can do everything between stuffing yourself and getting diet friendly food. Love all the locations but the historic Scottsdale area location is awesome.

Guacamole and cheese crisps were both great. Coffee was amazing black. Apparently some servers accidentally cleared out my table while I was in the restroom, but they gave me orders to go on the house. Definitely coming back here, especially with the happy hour menu.

The food was great. The drinks were amazing, and the busser CJ took every plate we finished off the table for us our entire experience! He was very helpful. I will definitely be back.

All Barrio Queen locations are awesome but this one is my fav due to the location. The restaurant backs up against the canal. You can’t see the canal itself from the restaurant but you can enjoy people watching at the plaza if you sit outside. Parking is hard sometimes but worth enjoying Old Town as an experience. Food is excellent and so are the drinks and service.

My husband and I went to Happy Hour at Barrio Queen this afternoon and we give our experience 5 out of 5 stars. Our server Daniella was delightful and accommodating. Though the restaurant was busy, Daniella was attentive. Our Happy Hour menu selections were delicious. The prices for wine and food were surprisingly reasonable. All in all, a lovely experience.

This was my first time dining at restaurant! The food was amazing and I loved the cleanliness of the atmosphere. The employee who gave us our food (CJ) was so kind an amazing! I definitely will be returning!🩷

Food was good, sever was very nice did his job well. Very packed. My kids loved the art all lover the walls made a fun experience for them. Didn't have a waiting, while we waited for our tables but other than that was a good experience staff was very helpful. Beet was cold and water tasted good. I will be going back.

We started out with their "World Famous" table-side guacamole with pomegranate seeds and it was delicious. We ordered the steak fajitas - we had to send them back because the meat was so tough you couldn't even bite through it. They happily exchanged our fajitas for chicken fajitas, which were really good. The chips are thick and have good flavor, but they would be much better if they came out warm. A great location sitting on their outside deck watching people walk by. Recommended, but hopefully our bad steak was an anomaly.

We came here for dinner after a trip to Sedona and a perfect way to end the night with some delicious Mexican food. We ordered the Mole enchiladas (a little too sweet for us), stuffed chilli and pozole verde soup.. the Margaritas were on point 🙂 The service was good- staff were attentive at start but as the meal progressed you couldn’t really get much attention despite the fact that it wasn’t busy at the time we got there. I have raised the atmosphere 3 because the place was quite dirty. We must have got there after a busy service and there was food on the floors everywhere and the bathrooms weren’t clean either. The music was really loud and inconsistent with the tunes so made it all feel chaotic

Great location with a solid heated patio that offers some great people watching. The menu covers all the bases, nice variety. Burritos were huge, neither of us could finish ours. Prices were reasonable for the area, and service wasn’t bad - check it out if you’re in the area.

This is a good choice for Mexican food, with an extensive tequila list. Once you’re seated the servers are very attentive, but we’ve consistently had trouble getting seated with the host MIA. The food is in the Oaxacan style, which is arguably the best in Mexico. It has a variety of dishes to appeal to different people, with flexibility to adjust dishes further as needed. This is a solid choice for groups both adventurous and not. Red rice is a good measure for a Mexican restaurant and the rice is pretty average it has a strong level of garlic, but loses the tomato and other seasonings. The refried beans were a step up from average. We tried a variety of tacos and they all hit the mark. The carne asada stood out across several dishes: tacos, tortas and enchiladas. The biggest miss was the quesadilla which was rolled and more like a taquito. Chips are very thin and salsa is on the acidic side, seemed to be charred tomatillos or chile, but was a little watery.

Food was good. I had the enchilada trio. Beans and rice could have been better. We liked the chips and salsa. There was no one there for lunch besides us and another group while all the other restaurants in town were packed so that made us wonder what was wrong. Prices were a little high for portion size.

My family and I recently visited here for an afternoon meal. We came during happy hour which we were excited about! Our server was nice and very fast. We got water and chips and salsa almost immediately which was great! The salsa itself on the other hand - mediocre. In my personal opinion it had very little flavor and was nothing to get hyped about. If you like salsa with little flavor and zero heat, this may be for you. I wish there were additional options on salsa with better flavor. Our drinks were delicious. My entire family got happy hour margaritas and I got two jalapeño margaritas which were refreshing and tasty! We got several appetizers and shared between the three of us. Plates were well prepared and the food was fine, again, nothing to jump and clap about. Overall it was decent, nothing I would go out of my way for, and nothing I would crave regularly.

Rating this restaurant for FOOD and Service, not the vibe or drinks. We went on a busy night, so, I suppose, we shouldn't expect great food or service when they are slammed, but I can't give it a higher rating because service was slow (and not attentive at all - we had to flag down a manager to get the proper order after food was delivered and no one checked on us for 5+ minutes), and the food, although decent, wasn't as hot or flavorful as I would have expected considering other reviews and the wait-time for a table. Definitely loved the vibe and the overall look and feel of this understandably popular restaurant in the heart of Old Town, and will be back to give it a second chance when I'm back in Phoenix.

I wanted to taste several dishes, so I went with small plates. I first ordered the casa margarita, and it was pretty good. The chips and salsa were ok, for the chips were thick, and the salsa needed a bit of salt. The chicken tamale was way too dry, even after I ordered more sauce and was still way too dry. The shrimp taco was perfect, nicely grilled, and not rubbery. The quesabirrias taco with short Rib was excellent too; nice and juicy.

Busy spot, outdoor and indoor seating available. Tacos were ok, steak fries came out as a large serving and had a fair amount of spice on them... enjoyed, but wish they were served hot and fresh. Fresh made guacamole. Service was good. No complaints, but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Loved this spot. Yummy food and great cocktails, plus the ambiance is on point. Would definitely return. (original post) I have returned to this place at least 4 times over the years when I’m in town and it has gotten progressively worse. Was just there this past weekend and the food was not good. Everything feels like it’s mass produced and lacks any type of great flavor. I got three street tacos and they ate super sloppy and were just okay. The drinks aren’t good and tasted watered down. Nothing is flavorful or inspired. This is just that place you go to because it’s where everyone goes. Pretty disappointing.

I’m sure it was an off night but the server that was supposed to “serve us” didn’t do much but take our Order and then forgot about us. There was however another server who was trying to make up for lack of service we were being provided. Food was mid at best but then finding hair in one meal put everyone else off from finishing theirs. There are other better Mexican restaurants to choose from.

I came here with five friends on a reservation. It took forever for our waiter to come to our table. We ordered drinks and he brought one but forgot the others. We reminded him when we were almost done and it still took a long time to get our drinks. We had to ask for him to come to our table to order and very rarely would he ever check up on us. We also had to track him down for our bill. Great food but not impressed with the service, especially considering that it was pretty slow week night.

Met some friends in Scottsdale for dinner here and it was quite a disappointment for us all. Sat outside which was the best part of the evening. Had the taco trio and enchilada trio. Beef in both was inedible, burnt and dry. Didn’t receive the guacamole appetizer until after dinner, even after asking about it several times. Margaritas were marginal at best. The only thing worse than the food was the service. Unfortunate but we won’t be back.

I ordered the El mexa Combo and it was horrible. The flauta was soft and bland. The tortilla was microwaved and meat was driy. The red enchilada tasted like can sauce. The portion was small. Expensive for the quality of food. Filiberto would have been better. There was no AC. Hot and mucky. The one on QUEEN CREEK IS A LOT BETTER.

Great location. Our second time here after a very positive first experience. Yesterday's visit by contrast was awful. After waiting 15 minutes for a server to attend our table, I went in search of someone to take a drink order. When our meals were served some plates were cold, likely having sat on a counter. One plate had something awful tasting in the tacos. The shrimp served with the enchiladas were over cooked and hard. Generally a very disappointing meal. Will go elsewhere the next time we visit Old Town.

I recommended coming here after eating here several years ago. Food was luke warm. Service was non existent. Three kids couldn't drink their water due to dirty and foul taste. Had to walk from outside to the hostess stand to get salt and pepper. One set in the whole place. Flavor was good on guac and enchiladas. Fajitas were inedible - zero flavor, very little meat on the platter and chewy steak at that. Staff were not the friendliest. Manager did make a couple of adjustments due to the terrible food and service. Go somewhere else. Not here.

Food was pretty generic and didn’t taste like true Mexican to me instead very Americanized. The Barrio Burrito was the standout, but the tacos were mediocre—especially for the price. We sat outside table but were served by the bartender instead of a waiter, and the service itself was friendly and solid. That said, I ordered the guacamole specifically for the tableside preparation/presentation, and none of that happened because of the bar tender service. Without that part of the experience, it felt overpriced, and the guacamole came out overly chunky and not well-balanced. Also took so long to get served. Overall: decent service, one good burrito, but the food and value didn’t match the hype.

Few things that made me give only 2 stars, but I will say our waiter was really friendly. Food is incredibly mid. If it wasn’t a cheap happy hour I would have complained, but it was still barely worth it. Margaritas are WAY too sweet Waiter didn’t give us a full receipt and charged us extra for our happy hour margarita. (They did refund when we called later but that’s still shady and that effects tax and tip…) Churros would be better without the filling — they were fresh and came out hot. Wouldn’t recommend if you was authentic Mexican and make sure you get a full receipt. Update: never was reached out to
