Wonderfully delicious We had a traditional Friday outing and we were up in Apple Hill and traveled to Placerville, CA for our Jimboy's Taco lunch. So very delicious.
It was good. Got the bean burrito and taco combo. I'm usually not a fan of ground beef but this was a surprise. Salsa was great also.
Taco Tuesdays and just the best taco period. Also like there meals as well. This facility has the easiest on/off day access in all of Placerville. If you're towing there is plenty of parking right across the street.
I have been enjoying Jimboys since the 60's, and have never been disapointed. I have to rate this place a great 5 stars! There is no other Jimboy's tacos that compares with this location and trust me I been to a few! You won't be disappointed!! The out-of-Towners just don't understand the Legacy, and probably have no fond memories of the After-Game devouring of their juicy Tacos in College...
Yum yum! I love their tacos with the cheese on the shell. Yum yum
Best Jimboys Tacos within 100 miles! They make them just the way they did when I was a kid. If you are anywhere near Placerville, it's a must do. The staff is great and the food is the best!
Staff us always friendly and the food comes out piping hot and fast. New menu selections are great alongside the old standby options like tacos and quesadillas. Easy hwy on-off.
I’ve been to many Jimboy’s in my day and this location serves the best tacos and bean and cheese burritos. Thank you again for an amazing meal, will be back every time I pass through.
Great experience, received my food fresh, hot and fast. Will eat there again!!
The Tuesday Carnitas Special is so good! Enchilada, rice and beans with a salad and a drink for $10.00. We bought an additional carnitas taco too.
We are huge fans of Jimboys tacos!! We go almost every Tuesday. My only complaint is the slow drive through. But the Trevor's are so worth it
A unique take on tacos, but a tasty one. Staff doesn't bat an eye when I come in and order three dozen tacos (you can get them in six packs!) to take home to family who live too far away to visit regularly. Good stuff.
Jim Boys used to have the best tacos you could get, but now they have no seasonings or shredded beef. Their meals are not as tasty as they were and the whole dining experience was horrible. They should definitely get back to basics.
Back in the day the commercial said " jim boy oh boy oh boy !" And they have the best tacos!! And I really like the bean and cheese burrito..we live close to visalia and there are no jimboys 😔which is actually probably a good thing cuz I'd eat there too often !! Anyway so when en route to tahoe we stop in and as I get closer I always start saying " jim boy oh boy oh boy !!!"
I got food there several times after seeing favorable reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. Good prices and decent Mexican style grub. Not quite the menu of the nearby Taco Bell but what they have is excellent for the money.
An unplanned very pleasant surprise on our way to South Lake Tahoe. Easy on/ off HWY 50. Clean, quiet, excellent menu and prices, heads and shoulders above other "fast food" tacos. Will stop at Jimboy's again on next trip.
JIMBOYS OH, BOY!! OH, BOY!! Food was delicious and Tacos tasted like Jimboys tacos should. Tacos lil pricey but what isn't now days. EXCELLNT customer service at this location. The drive thru speaker needs to be replaced tho..hard to understand. All in all great experience at this location
Another great jimboy's experience, live in the Bay area so the closest one is Fairfield stopped at the one in placerville today on the way home I always get a six pack of ground beef tacos, and they're always nice enough to put the lettuce in a separate container so I can heat them up later
We were on an adventure for the day and stopped here for lunch. The food was delicious...it can be a little greasy... but that adds to the deliciousness! Definitely not for everyday eating, but for occasional lunches or dinners, it is a fun treat. If you are traveling to or from South Lake, you should stop in! 😋
When I have to travel to sacramento I stop to get me at least 2 tacos. They have a distinct flavor. Miss Ana at the counter is always super friendly and willing to help. Thank y’all for your hard work. God Bless
For East food, this place is great. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the greasy, crunchy tacos dusted with Parmesan cheese. This place has a distinct flavor with their food, just like other places do.
Good food, tastes fresh and they're always very polite. They were out of taco sauce, but they gave me fresh salsa instead! Hadn't been to a Jimboy's in 15+ years and I've been back multiple times because it's great for fast food!!
Great food! Love the Parmesan… great touch! Grilled chicken is my fave so far. Will say it’s about the slowest “fast” food out there… but worth it. Still 5 stars
Jimboy's tacos & their enchiladas are the best. They definitely don't taste like they are fast food. The service wasn't bad & the prices are reasonable as well.
Food was amazing the first time i tried it and i will be going back everytime im in the area
My family and I love Jimboy's Tacos. The staff is friendly and always recognized us when we walked in the door. I don't usually like fast food Burritos ( I make my own at home), I love Jimboy's burritos they taste like the burritos that my Mexican friends make. Unfortunately, we no longer live in California and there is no Jimboy's where we live. We really miss it and will definitely visit whenever we are California
First time ever going to Jimboys - I always thought they were in California only but there are some in Reno so I’m definitely going to try to get up there since it’s closer. I was blown away how flavorful everything was. Yeah it’s “fast food” but it’s in a whole other category above Taco Bell or Del Taco. Think of McDonalds and In-N-Out sort of comparison. The nachos were good too!
Fantastic tacos Website is kinda wonky and makes mistakes Their system charged me when they were out of an item and then refused to refund it and told me I had to do it Which is impossible since im customer But I stood my ground and they figured out what to do and how to refund me on their system Crazy to tell a customer they must refund themselves But doesn't change the taste of the taco It's delicious
I haven't been to a jimboy's in over 10 years. Don't know why there isn't any of these in the Bay area, but that should change. Tacos are exactly how I remember them, they are the absolute best tacos. First time having a bean and cheese burrito and I must say better than any place you could get a bean and cheese burrito. I have to find one close to home.
Came into Jimboys yesterday. Had a delicious Taco and side of beans. There was no hot sauce or salsa bar which was a little disappointing but I understandable. Had to ask for taco sauce from behind the counter. Service is very nice and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. I really like this jimboy's. I highly recommend them. Food was so fresh and delicious.
Get the classic tacos. They are great. Idk about any other Jim Boys but the staff in Placerville is always great. We eat here everytime we go to Tahoe. Nacho's quesadillas & Burritos are also great. Personally love the classic tacos. Restaurant & bathroom always clean. With a friendly staff.
Tasty food but the governor's indoor dining shutdown means eating in your vehicle and crumbs to cleanup. We'll be back given the opportunity.
Food is good, nice variety. Placerville lunch staff is wonderful. I'm always greeted by name (what fast food place remembers a customer's name?), and with a smile.
I remember Jimboys when they had one little stand at Denios Farmers Market ,swap meet. Sure do miss them when Im far from those tacos.Always good.
The Jimboys chain can be a hit or a miss. This location does a good job with their menu items. So much better than Taco Bells. The combination platters are actually a Full Mexican Meal under 10 bucks. It's nice we have a good fast food Mexican location in Placerville.
Food is amazing but is full of grease, my steak taco ($1.75) leterally poured out grease. The bathrooms were worse than some gas stations, minus all the graffiti. But overall, a good experince.
Love, love Jimboys. This was my first time at the Placerville location. And I wasn't disappointed with the food. We ordered every kind of taco loaded. Also enjoy the chile relleno . What I didn't enjoy was the wait. The place was really busy for a Mondsy night at 7pm. I only saw one person at the counter, one person at the drive-thru and one in the back. Otherwise it was a great visit.
They are always very nice. Only seem adequately staffed 50% of the time I am there, but I can only imagine how the employees feel about that. The best tacos. Nothing else matters.
The food was decent enough. Queso dip was the favorite. Not sure why we were the only customers during prime lunch time on a Sunday, though. Must be missing something.
Food is good, drive thru takes FOREVER even when ordering one thing. Other than that, employees are friendly and food is hot so can't complain too much 😊
Super, authentic food, friendly staff, great prices. The last 3 times I dined there they had no Horchata ( my favorite drink ) but I know they'll keep it in stock from now on, Right Jim Boys?
We found Jimboy's after finding the Mexican dessert shop down the street, and realizing we wanted tacos instead. A Mexican restaurant with a drive through, Jimboy's sounded like an authentic taco experience, so we parked and came inside. It's the kind of place where the suggestion box is a decorated old shoebox, the urinal is missing from the men's room, and they have Olympic swimming on the two flat screen TV's. The swimming is strangely appropriate, as the interior is decorated like the inside of an aquarium. But hey, the AC was cold, and the service had a smile. We had no idea how the menu worked, so we went with the daily special. We enjoyed our 1-chip appetizer, and the meal was decent. Each plate comes with a build-it-yourself bonus burrito. Not everyone could finish theirs, so the helpings were good. All in all, a good experience. Hats off to Jimboy, who brings his Italian flair to tacos by dousing them in parmesan cheese. Well played, sir. Well played.
Absolutely love Jimboy's Tacos ground beef tacos with a crispy corn tortilla shell coated in parmesan cheese. We make it a point to stop in their Placerville location any time we are in the area on our way to or from South Lake Tahoe. "Fast food"? Yes, but better quality, by far, than Taco Bell and Del Taco. They also serve combo plates with beans, rice and enchiladas, for example.
It's a fast food place so you can't expect it to be super clean. Foods just like it was years ago and tasting amazing and quick service as well as polite employees (some have an attitude though)
Good food. I was In the drive-through line 5 minutes before they Were closing. They were taking the order in the car in front of me and they turned off the lights to the menu. They would not serve me. I understand That Employees want to go home but they should make it a point to put in Orange cone behind the last vehicle that they're going to Serve. They have An Orange cone By the drive-through so maybe they normally do that but they should be doing that each time. I drove quite a few miles to make it to Jim boys prior to closing which I did but did not get service. Pretty tacky.
My kids love their burritos because they grill their tortillas. However, I wanted to try one of their salads. It was roughly $8. No where on the description did it say it had onions. I got home and had to throw it away. Not only do I hate onions, but I couldn't even pick them off, because by the time I got home, the entire salad smelled like onions...Next time I'll know, I guess...
Everything tastes good! I love the tacos the best, especially the beef or shrimp ones. Kind've expensive for a drive-thru, but it's worth it. Service can be slow. Cashiers are always super nice.
Always love Jimboys Tacos..this time they were a little dry. No grease seeping out which makes a Jimboys taco so delious .I also recommend the Tahoe Burrito if you super hungry. Well worth the cost. Full of good stuff and really big. I ate mine in 2 separate dinners. Clean and friendly spot.
Was on our way back to SF from South Lake Tahoe and need some quick food. Convenient location, right off the highway entrance.
Stopped for a bite when heading back into nevada food tasted fresh and authentic I had beef tacos crisp shell excellent Wife had the avocado bacon chicken salad. Her only regret she couldn't eat it all.
One of the better Jimboys I've been to.
It's a tough time to be a restaurant. We were traveling and stopped for lunch. I enjoyed a chicken taco and beef taco. My family also had burritos, chicken and beans. The young girl who helped us was super cheerful and so helpful. Prices are reasonable, on par with Taco Bell. I have no complaints at all except with a family of 6 (mostly over 18) it's hard to find outdoor seating. Jimboy's only had 4 tables and a total of about 6 chairs (taken) so we had to drive around to find a place in the shade to sit down.
What can I say, it's Jimboy's. Slightly overpriced Mexican inspired fast food that is tasty and filling. This particular location has very friendly employees and seems to be, usually, very quick to get your order out. Great for a quick lunch. I usually go for salads or the classic taco.
They have a very unique gr beef taco that I think is super yummy. Salsa is very good. Other items I've tried and enjoyed are fish taco (good size, one is all I can eat), nachos (plentiful as well), guacamole is tasty too. I try to eat here whenever I visit family in the area. **Thing to know is... the tacos must be eaten right away tho, they aren't well suited to take home 'cause they lose their crunch by then.
I'v always liked Jimboy's Tacos. I must say the staff here were great as was the service. They were very friendly and out going. The only problem I had was I ordered the beef tacos and much to my disappointment. When I sat down to eat my Tacos they were missing the thing that in my opinion made their Tacos famous. They were missing the grated parmesan cheese on the outside of the shell. As in none. I was disappointed but chose not to complain. I have no Idea how they could have forgotten this important part of their trade mark. I'm sure if I had said something they would have corrected it. But I was busy and didn't want to make a fuss. None the less as I said the staff were great and I'm pretty sure it was just an over sight on someone's part but I still love Jimboy's
I'd give 5 stars but they keep closing the drive thru or the dining... no consistency. I am tired of not knowing which will be available. Plus the last 2 orders of nachos I got I couldn't find cheese if I tried :( normally so amazing!
Good greasy tacos. Interior recently remodeled. The service is hit and miss. My last visit I waited 12 minutes for one fish taco. Worth a visit but don't expect 5* and be patient.
First time at Jimboys. They had 1 person running the drive-thru and front register. A few people who had been waiting in the dining room decided not to wait and left. I ordered the soft taco combo and added the extra taco for .70 cents. The tacos were ok. Sorry Jimboy's, I was hoping for something better.
My hometown Jimboy’s. Tried it this weekend for the first time in many years and found that it hasn’t’ changed. Cashier was friendly, but couldn’t make eye contact with him as his hair was down over his eyes. We sat down at one of the only clean tables. It was just before 1pm and there was one other customer in the dining room. No Coca-Cola in the fountain. Inside smelled like cleaning detergent. Keep in mind that there’s also a credit card surcharge, which there’s no reason for.
The tacos are ALWAYS amazing but the ladie behind the counter today was rude and uncaring which always sucks when giving someone my money. I'd like to give my money to polite understanding people. BOMB tacos as always of course!
This place is never open after 7pm so it's hard for me to eat here. But sounds like a nice place.
Came in for a takeout order. They forgot all about my order. I finally had to be proactive and ask. It was sitting in back. Also way overpriced but what fast food isn't nowadays.
Very subpar food. Doesn't taste how Jimboy's should taste. Also, the first three bites of our burrito was nothing but sour cream, then just a bunch of mushy rice, then at the bottom was the meat. You can't wrap a burrito I don't know what to say....
Foods "ok" if you get what you ordered the first time or even the second. Way over priced, Mom, Dad, & 2nd grade girl ate for about $35. All in all, poor service, and over priced for fast food. If I paid maybe $10-$15 less this would be a 5* rating. Higher prices comes with higher expectations and they couldn't deliver.
While the food was tasty, the service and cleanliness of the place was less than palatable. The one staff person I saw was wearing a shirt that looked like it had either been slept in or never ironed. The table I sat at was sticky. I ate at the table anyway. Afterward, I went to the staff person and mentioned that the table was sticky. She informed me that all the tables are sticky because of the soap they use to clean the tables. She said, even if the table is clean, it will be sticky. If this is true, Jimboys needs to get a different kind of soap - or rinse their tables after "washing" them with "sticky soap."
The 3 cheese quesadilla was soggy, Cameron parks was crunchy, buttery, and delicious. This was no better than something I could make at home. Feels like the tortilla was only cooked for a couple seconds. The outside was burned as well, making me think heat was just way too high to burn it and have it still be soggy. Had a bunch of shredded chicken tacos, those were good. But I'll drive the extra 9 to 10 miles to go to Cameron Park Jimboys instead.
WOW, this location will teach everyone to check the reviews first; Jimboy's Tacos is staple and always good food, which is why my son and I visited for lunch today in Placerville. All I can say is, (like probably many others) this chain is struggling. Customer service at the location in Cameron Park has always suffered a little, this one is even worse. There were NO customers in line when we entered @ noon on a Sunday, and we still waited 10 minutes to order. WTH? There seemed to be only two staff members working, took forever to get the food, and the entrees (including literally Jimboy's beef tacos) BARELY met the standard of Jimboy's 🌮 tacos. Clearly these chain food restaurants are in a downward spiral. I could go on, but I feel bad for the staff members left trying to prop this up.
This place has had its ups and downs for year. You can tell ownership/management has changed. Usually the food is good and the price is high. But this time the food was not good and the price was real high. My taco the tortilla was burnt on one side. And my street fries were under cooked and soggy from the chicken. Probably not coming back. Things keep going down hill.
Brown guacamole, Spanish rice is horrible, tacos are always greasy ... oh well not eating there again. And to think employees being paid $20 per hour.
T.he meal was awful. They burnt the taco shells. The refried beans were sour meaning spoiled. I will never eat there again. My stomach is all upset.
Nothing worse than it stating they are open until 8pm daily, driving 20 minutes to get there (was there at 7:15pm and locked up tight. You suck!!!
Taco shells were burnt and meat tasted funny. Drinks were weak and tasted like metal. The machine should be cleaned daily. Never eating there again.
First time eating here. Wasn't impressed. Had a chicken Tostada Salad. Looked nothing like the picture they show on the menu. No flavor at all. Hubby had a ground beef burrito, same thing, no flavor. Won't eat here again.
Went in at 3pm. Lobby was dirty. Not a single table was wiped down. Several dirty trays and trash scattered throughout the lobby. Flies buzzing about. Bathroom had a hole in the floor. There was no line and the store was not busy. Employee at the counter was out of uniform and wearing a cat tractor hat. We waited at the counter for about a minute while he texted on his phone. He never greeted us and finally took our order. He didn't give us our drinks. We wiped down our own table while cat tractor hat guy texted on his phone. Food came out ok but we had to eat it while shooing the flies away. Food was ok, at least the cook took their job seriously. If i were to behave the way cat tractor hat did at my job i wouldn't be employed. Never coming back and you shouldn't either. Its obvious this place doesn't care.
Ordered through drive thru, asked for no guacamole because I'm allergic to it. Got my food checked it, it all had guacamole on it, I politely told them I asked for no guacamole due to allergy and the kid look right at me and told me to just "take it off" are you kidding me?? That entire order went in the trash and WILL NEVER go back. Completely unacceptable to say the least
If I could post 0 stars I would. This was literally the worst gym boys I have ever been to in California. I do not know how they messed up the ground beef taco, The beans were cold and appeared to be undercooked. Overall a completely unsatisfying experience especially when your spending 30 to $40 at a fast food establishment. I will never go to this location again and I would never recommend anyone go to this location.
This jimboys was the worst one I've ever had, I ordered nachos and got stale old tasting chips, my step-dad ordered a chicken qeusadia and got a small taco sized tortilla folded in half with very little chicken and cheese, I think the only thing they did right was the 6 pack of tacos. This was just over $35
Super Nacho were not good. chips were stale and overpriced for quality . 11 bucks with the fridge tasting guacamole. Too bad 😞. Drive through guy was nice however.
Ok first thing, bathrooms are closed... I guess that is a new normal. I had three of their signature taco's. First bite, well, just before, the smell of burnt stale grease filled my senses. I could see how the taco shell could have been a great thing. Cooked on the griddle and dusted with greater cheese. But the burnt grease just killed it. And as it cooled, it got worse. On the plus side, the filling was bland. Woops guess there was no plus...
Really like the food BUT I wish getting the order right at the drive thru was something to rely upon. Just got our CHICKEN El Gordo's we picked up to our destination only to find they were ground beef...which my wife cannot eat....can't backtrack today. This is three goofed up orders in a row.....today we checked to make sure we had the right dish but did not think to check what was in it!!! Last two times got handed completely wrong orders....I get an occasional error but.....shheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez....Don't know I can afford to go back anymore.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jimboys... fresh food ALWAYS tastes amazing! I mind going 2x in one week 10 minutes before closing both times and there is no one inside and the worker is sitting in their car outside. I mind waiting 20 minutes just to get nachos with queso to be told there is none because they are out of ingredients... At 1 pm in the afternoon. To be fair the intercom was broken... So all orders were taking a bit longer it the window... But lacking such basic supplies... Which... If you haven't tried the queso... Order it now... Delicious explosion of flavor in your mouth.
I love Jim boys food however the Placerville restaurant is inefficient with their closing procedure. They leave all the lights on inside and out as well as the drive through menu is lit up. No cone in the drive through letting customers know they are closed. No posted hours in the drive through area. They are rude when they finally talked through the speaker to let us know they were closed. Sad part is, it is 8:20 we drive down the street to Taco Bell and there were 10 cars in the drive through. I will never go to the Placerville store again.
Long time jimboys fan. This particular jimboys has the worst customer service I've ever seen. I've only been there twice in the 5 years I've lived up here and both times were terrible. They left me sitting at the drive thru window for 22 minutes while I could see the drive thru girl smoking out in the front of the building. They don't have any consideration for your time when you go there.
So done with this Jimboy's! Lousy service and they never have taco sauce!!! How is it that you can run a "Taco Stand", and not have any sauce? They don't even tell you that they don't have any before you order. Is the ownership that cheap? The staff doesn't care and the food has totally gone down hill. I will be driving down to the Cameron Park location from now on.
JimBoy’s isn’t what it used to be. The servers were very friendly and the food was made quickly, and served hot. Unfortunately, they taste was not great. The place inside looked updated, but it still felt a bit dirty.
I went to jimboy on Broadway in placerville, staff standing behind counter eating. The place smelled like sewer issues, the salz bar was filthy, spilled salza on the counter. No body was in the place but me The server made me feel inconvenience, it was in the afternoon no rush hours. The place is dirty and filthy? Smelled horrible . I took my tacos and eat it in my car. I won't be back there again. Right next to them is a authentic Mexican restaurant, get your act together Jimboy.
I have been here numerous times, and every time I come here there are issues with being short food sauce. The customer service here is horrible and the food is half ass made. Good luck.I’m
In my opinion, quite literally one of the if not the worst Jimboys. Ive attempted multiple ways and times to get chicken tacos with their taco sauce. They are extremely stingy with the amount of chicken they put on their tacos and taco sauce. This is even assuming they have not run out by 5pm which has happened multiple times. I made the mistake of doordashing one time from here and it was even worse. Doordash charges for the sauce packets and I ordered 10....they gave me 2.
Never coming here again. I have been a customer here at the Placerville location for years and have eaten Jimboys all of my life. Today they gave me an incomplete order. When I came in for them to correct it they refused to give me what I had paid for and demonstrated very very poor customer service. I hope not giving me the burrito that you left out was worth losing a loyal customer who had visited your establishment regularly and with how I was treated today I do not recommend anyone to come here and support this business. Taco Bell treats us better and so does the neighboring Mexican Fast Food next to Jimboys who by the way has killer chorizo breakfast burritos.
Got there about 10:50am, sign on door and google says open at 11am. At 11am we went to the door, locked. Stood outside for 15 minutes. It appeared there was only 1 worker inside, assuming the other staff didn't show up for their shift? The 1 worker could have at least came to the door to tell us they would be opening late due to no staff. We left shortly after 11:15am
First employees are nice, but after that one star is to much. Corporate has the heat so high in the place, it's not safe for customers or employees. I'm a Fire Fighter EMT, this place is ridiculous. Also the price for 6 tacos, with hardly any meat in them is a joke. I grew up with Jim boy's, this place I can't see how they are still open. Quality gone down.
i’ve never thought I’d have to leave a review, but I am shocked right now I got two bean and cheese burritos, and as I’m eating one of them, I bite down on something hard. I spit my food out and see a rock. Like a literal rock as you can see in the picture I just don’t even know how a rock could accidentally fall into my Burrito I’m not trying to be a Karen but seriously please don’t choke if you get a burrito from this location.
