My sister Kimberly works here and I'm visiting her this Veteran's Day weekend so yesterday I tagged along with her and while she started the 2-10 shift I rode my bike around town and explored downtown Pleasanton on foot on a classic bay area day. After a few hours I came in hungry and on a kind young couple's recommendation ordered the Ruben Sliders backed up with the Chicken Tortilla soup. I'm not a restaurant reviewer but I know good food and this was outstanding. But the top notch cuisine ended up being just the tip of what turned out to be one of my proudest days ever to call myself a veteran of the United States Navy. On Friday, I had seen many restaurants were offering free meals and discounts to members of the armed forces and veterans. I saw an older gentleman at the store with a VFW hat on and we struck up a conversation in which we thanked each other for his service (he was Navy too) and saluted as we parted ways. It felt good. So after my Sliders and soup I ordered chocolate cake (hey, I'm celebrating) and asked my dear sis if I could get a cup of coffee thrown in seeing as I'm a veteran. Let me tell you, when the quality people who own and work at the Cellar Door found out I was a veteran I was treated to the best Veteran's Day I have ever had. Dorina came and asked for my bank card to reverse the charges for the food I'd already eaten and told me to order anything I wanted on the house. Again, the food was perfect (Bacon Baklava, oh jeez) but the feeling I left with after these folks treated me with such genuine, heartfelt love and gratitude has had me buzzing for this entire Sunday. The kind words, the hugs and the feeling of such kinship with fellow Americans brought a tear to the eye of this old aircraft carrier flight deck hardened salty dog and will never leave my memory. To my sister Kimberly (who inherited the "sweetest lady on earth" title upon our grandmother's passing), sweet Dorina, kind and gracious Jenney, owner Terri and husband Scott, smooth Joe on the guitar, Alex the chef and the entire Cellar Door team I thank you from the bottom of my heart. An owner wearing a MARINES shirt in honor of her brave U.S.M.C. son, a server with a big American flag tattoo proudly displayed, another with a veteran brother bursting with patriotic pride for being so recognized. This is America at its best. Bless you all. Antonio Mena
Not great for our meeting but this is a fantastic place with a fantastic wine list but the glass and the bottle. Also a great specialty drink list mixed just for you!
Always a good time
One of our favorite places. They only serve wines that you can't find in stores. Great small plates, nice servers, nice location in downtown Pleasanton.
Excellent wine list and great food. My server couldn't get my water order right, but everything else was top-notch.
Hi Terri... So nice you came over and chatted with me. I like your place..and meeting you was an unexpected surprise. I'll certainly be in again. Take care. Kent
Great atmosphere, cozy, live music on some weekends... overall a fun place to take your date to
First time here. Loved it! Food was wonderful, service attentive, and music was refreshing. We’ll be back.
Will be back! Cute little wine bar in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. Enjoyed the night! Food was excellent as well.
Really nice wine flights, good food and live music. What's not too love except the bill...its a bit pricy.
Cozy place to wine and dine. Had crab cakes they were delicious. Friendly place. Inside and outside seating. Nice ambience.
Everything was perfect except the prosciutto flatbread - please, please use fresh bread and thinner prosciutto.
Decent prices, good food, great vibe, live music on the Friday night I went :) Nice experience. I'll be back.
This is such a great place! So cozy and dark enough that you look good on a first date! Great service.
Delightful local spot with very tasty treats and a great atmosphere....oh...and the yummy wine of course
Nice local bar with a cafe vibe. Excellent selection of local wines.
Cosy little wine bar with great choice of wine flights and appetizers. Live music on the weekends makes for a special evening.
Great place. Good drinks, good tapas. Nice kick back atmosphere
Great atmosphere with amazing music! I'm happy the summer is back so there will be more music.
We had a wonderful night. The food was amazing. The drinks on point and the music was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
This is a veryclassy, cozy, yet unpretentious kind of place. I love coming here for the relaxed atmosphere, awesome wine selection, and tasty bites (love the flatbread artisan pizzas!!).
Went here before a show at the Firehouse, the staff was friendly and the food was perfect. Great place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles.
Great place to grab a glass of wine and enjoy a nice conversation. Can get wines by the glass or in flights. Plus, cocktails on the menu too. They've expanded the patio, and now there's plenty of room.
Dear Terri Terri, I've just left your establishment and driven home to Albany. We were at the Antique Sale all day and looking for a place to eat and relax before driving back to Albany. Not too fancy and not too expensive. We found your place on our own and walked in to a nice inviting, comfortable place to sit down and have something to eat and drink before the drive back. We found a gift. We found good food, drink and most importantly good wait staff of two lovely women who were delightful and very pleasant (in Pleasanton) to help us select a good beer and suggestions for good wine and food. I wanted to be sure to let you know how much meeting and having your two women help with our meal meant to us. Even the water was over the top in refreshment. Thank you for such a nice experience that will be remembered for a long time. Chip and Nancy
Great ambience, indoor-outdoor seating, wonderful wines, whiskeys & cocktails with yummy cheeseboards & much more. The staff and management are just lovely and there's often marvelous eclectic live music!
Went here to see my friends band play on a date night with my wife. Each of us really enjoyed ourselves. Attentive knowledgeable staff and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back and recommend to others.
If your looking for a quaint place to hangout with friends and listen to live music this is your place. It's a small little spot so get there early, but the service is great and super friendly! They serve great finger foods.
The Cellar Door is a small, intimate tasting room in the beautiful downtown Pleasanton. Serving a local variety of wines, sparkling wine and tapas. My favorite time to visit is for Friday night's live music either in the tasting room or across in the park. (late spring/summer) The staff is so friendly making your visit one of a kind.
Great interior design. Great wine and food selection. We had the red blend flight and the fondue appetizer, enjoyed both tremendously!
Really friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The food is yummy and I love the live music, and Oh yes, great wine too.. This is just what we need in this town.
--Amazing place to start your wine discovery. A good mix of nationally available and locally made wines. The owner Terri is very enthusiastic and willing to help you on your journey.
Fun bar with live music and friendly staff. We were there for a Santa Pub Crawl. Plenty of room with a great outdoor seating area
Amazing spot! I had the best sweet cocktail ever, Pear Pressure. It tasted like a cold Hot toddy. We had a great time on the patio, sipping on our drinks, and snacking on hummus and flatbread. We plan to come back.
This is a fun, neighborhood place to meet up with friends or go on a date. There’s always a fun crowd from all ages and backgrounds. Sometimes there’s like music. They decorate for different holidays and offer special drinks:cocktails based on the theme. There’s a large wine selection and beer on tap. The food is good and can be for appetizers or dinner. The large charcuterie board and the pastrami sliders are great. The flat breads and small bites are yummy too. It’s cozy living room vibes inside and there’s a large patio with heaters and fire pits outside.
Visited Cellar Door with a friend to celebrate my pre-birthday, and it was a great experience! Enjoyed some lovely drinks paired with delicious cheese, making for a perfect celebration. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Highly recommend for a special night out!
We visited this place on Friday evening for drinks and appetizers. The place was decently busy but we got seated quickly. We ordered 4 different cocktails and each of them was amazing. Especially liked the whiskey based cocktails. We also ordered mushroom flatbread and it was tasty. There also live music playing on site.
Wonderful spot off the main drag to grab a glass of wine. They have a beautuful outdoor patio that's perfect for people watching, getting some sun, and is dog friendly. Inside is a chic wine celler-esque vibe that would make for a great date spot. Their wine list is fantastic; just enough options without being overwhelming. They offer flights, half glasses, full pours, and bottles. The staff is very knowledgeable and unobtrusive. Overall, a great place to relax and enjoy life.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a really nicely curated wine list with tons of local favorites!
Wonderful atmosphere. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Relaxed and super comfortable seats.
Wonderful patio for listening to live jazz, eating an Italian flatbread and enjoying a glass of wine.
Awesome ambiance and great drinks, food, and service! Highly recommend.

Wonderful patio for listening to live jazz, eating an Italian flatbread and enjoying a glass of wine.
Awesome ambiance and great drinks, food, and service! Highly recommend.
Great location and good wines. The patio is awesome in the late afternoon with the sun behind the buildings and the inside is very cozy. Their wine tasting menu is cool with some of the flight options and various size offerings. Sometimes I feel like the pours are a little on the small side but not going to ding them on that.
Scott and the Cellar Door team were fantastic to work with for an event we hosted there! Would highly recommend! The food was delicious and they kept it stocked all night. The staff were super attentive to guest drink orders. The music was fun! Scott was very flexible and accommodating with our decor requests. We had a blast!
This place is fantastic. Great selection of wine and food, great ambiance, and exceptional service from Scott. We were there for our friend’s birthday and were craving dessert with our wine, which is the only thing they didn’t have (although he said they are working on getting it soon). He actually went to the local bakery (Primrose) and brought us back several dessert choices! 11/10 service, we can’t wait to come back. Was also really impressed with the value for my cab flight and my friend’s bubbly flight with very generous pours.
Great vibes and cozy spot. Scott made us some great cocktails and had excellent recommendations for our time in Cali!

Great spot for a few drinks before dinner.
Nice little wine bar. Friendly staff.
Classy, good live music, and drinks. There isn't a whole lot of choice for food, but it's good.
Good small plates such as the stuffed dates and nice selection of wines and extensive cocktails.
Lovely little wine bar, nice selection and knowledgeable staff.
Good ambiance and great local selections of wine.
Comfortable bar for a cocktail and some lively entertainment. More mature crowd.
Great atmosphere and drinks, slow service outdoors
Cute little place. Drinks are strong and the vibe is nice. Had a live band while we were here.
Didn't try the food, which looked good. Drinks were great, but a little pricey. Great place to stop for a beverage.
Ok place. Not crowded at all on a Sunday.
Quaint, comfortable and extensive wine list with full bar and live music. Good way to spend an evening.
Great wine flights and craft cocktails. Really good service. The food is good as well I just wish there were more variety
Nice and quiet little place. It has a very decent wine selection and the appetizers are superb. Nice little outdoor patio with heaters. There is no hard alcohol served.
Quaint little wine bar that has a old time, sophisticated feel. Nice staff but a little slow when busy. Good choices for wine and appetizers.
One of my favorite places for live acoustic music, cheese, and a blend of wonderful wine selections. outdoor seating, and a really friendly staff!
Been here twice when they had live music outdoor in their patio area. Rocking good time for everyone. Some food served. Wine, beer & whisky. Indoor, mello live music often too. Terry, the owner, likes to see everyone having a good time.
James is freaking awesome!!! Love that guy!! He made us some super good mules and went above and beyond to get to know us. Sam was another staff that helped us and he was great too. The drinks are so good but I'd come back just for the staff!
Par until the food came out. Then it was impressive. Delicious. Quick. Great server, never got his name. But yeah, no reason to question this place if your ask me.
The bartender was friendly but a bit slow. The wine we tried was enjoyable, though I expected a greater variety for a wine bar. That said, I think we need more places like this with great design and decent service.

they don't know their wines, service can be long
The food was great. We ordered the red wine braised caramelized onion, prosciutto and burrata Flatbread, as well as and pear Flatbread, the empanadas, and olives. There was only one server, and one bartender. The ambience was sooooooo loud and crowded like a dive bar, and had a lot of abnoxious people throughout. We had to wave down the server multiple times to get drinks and food. He didn't even seem overwhelmed, just like he was hanging out and not paying attention. I would say I would be back for the food, but I don't think I feel like yelling at my company over the crowd just to have a conversation. Not much of an "upscale" wine bar in my opinion.
The ambience was great. Came in at the end of their evening. We had a glass of wine each. The bartender was definitely the low spot. Waited for a bit for him to finish his conversation with someone at the end of the bar (and it wasn't that busy). And I still had to make eye contact with him to get him down to my end. I asked if they carried any syrahs (shot in the dark as they have none on their menu). I asked for a glass Pinot Noir ($13), and he had to exclaim that there was only enough for one glass...to which I said sounds like I'll get that last glass. For my second, I asked for a glass of the Pinot grigio ($15). He went on about how busy they had been and didn't have any left, so I began to look at the menu for an alt. He mentioned an international Sauvignon Blanc, but I wasn't entirely interested in that over priced suggestion. Shortly after, while I was looking at the menu, the person that he was speaking with earlier, went behind the bar, and pulled the wine I just asked for from the cooler. The bartender snickered about it not being sure that was the right wine. But other person said it was in the bottom of the cooler where it always is. After pouring the second glass, the bartender made a sideways comment about the total being $100.... I just gave him a look "not in the mood for fockery". He then said it would be $40 or $50. I slid $40 over knowing the total and walked away with my glasses. As I was half way to my seat he (the bartender) said loudly that the total was $40 and that didn't include a tip. To which I ignored and continued to my seats, knowing that he had his, and that I definitely wouldn't be giving one after that comment.

Drinks and food were both lacking and overpriced. The atmosphere was interesting with lots of people watching.
Food was good. Service was terrible. I understand being busy but they consistently forgot the things we ordered. Server came back twice to ask about my husband's drink. Then it took forever to get said drink. The good was very slow and in coming- Servers were too busy talking to drunk guys at the bar. We asked for water and never got it.
It was incredibly loud since there was a two-person band playing with many speakers, it was packed, and it's a very small building. It was fairly dark and their menu was very limited (I am aware that it is a bar and small restaurant). We had to see a show after going here, and they were incredibly slow. The service wasn't too "thrilling" either. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience.
Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst service experiences we had. We came into this place on Thursday after our dinner just before 9 pm (thinking they close at 10 pm per their operating hours). First, it took a while before anyone came over (it wasn't crowded). When we wanted to order, the wines we wanted to order were not available. We tried to order a "Steve's Picks - 2022 M5" and tried to order the 2021 Willakenzie Estate Pinot that was $20 a glass. Both were not available, and the server noted their website menu was going to be updated. We then proceeded to order whatever pinot was available. To our horror, that was probably only the beginning of our substandard experience at this place. Without any warning whatsoever, they turned on all the lights at around 920pm and proceeded to turn off the music at 925pm, clearly wanting to have everyone out. What a way to chase folks out early and close shop!! There were two other couples that were still there. But we got the hint and decided to chug our wines and leave. We are not coming back. Such a turn-off, and what a pity.

Cute place, but too noisy inside, couldn't enjoy the live music & left with a headache.
