Very cool place and very comforting food. U can't really go wrong with a grilled cheese with a side of onion rings right. The prices are a bit high but everything is made to order, hot and delicious. If Joshua is on the grill your gonna get a good sandwich. Owner is, super cool also. And yes they have a bar with very cool bartenders.
I had a really great time here and I’ll be back next time I’m in town.. the bartenders are super fun and took great care of me tonight. Wish I lived close!!
Great place to eat. There's not much on the menu-- but there doesn't need to be. You can eat inside or out, and you can have your food as a sandwich or on tater tots. That's choice enough for me. The kids loved the pizza tots and a regular grilled cheese with enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Quick, easy, good, and fun. Enjoy.
Quarantine Diaries! I have been supporting tons of local restaurants during the past 2 months and here are my reviews! Downtown Redlands has been really quiet during quarantine. Gladly everyone has been wearing masks and most restaurants are open for curbside pick up or take-out! It was my first time ever coming here and it was legit one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten! Like seriously! They use local sourdough bread that is so sour that it complements all the other flavors in the sandwich. I love that the take out boxes are like mini pizza boxes! The sandwiches themselves can be quite rich so I think it’s wise to split them with family or friends! We got the brisket and Mac and cheese sandwich for our entry and the PBC&J for dessert! The staff was really nice, safe, and they have hand sanitizer at the register.
Grilled cheese: a classic American kid’s food. A simple dish: melted cheese in between two pieces of bread. Cheesewalla elevates this American staple, utilizing ingredients like pepperoni and jalapeños to create unique and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. I had the Pepperoni Pizza grilled cheese: provolone + shredded mozzarella + pepperoni on cheddar & parmesan-crusted sourdough. The bread was nice and crispy, and the cheese crust complemented the melting cheeses beautifully. A sandwich worthy of the gourmet title. Don’t forget your beverage! Their lemonade here is really good, not overly sweet.
Amazing food! Their Barbecue Pizza Grilled cheese keeps us coming back, and the PBC 'n J is the best idea ever! Kamran is so friendly and welcoming!
Cheesewalla has unique grilled cheese sandwiches- it can be crowded or have a line at lunchtime. They do move quickly, but they are making your food as you order. They have wonderful flavored water- usually cucumber lemon. They have the key to the restroom available if you ask. There is seating outside (under the umbrellas) and a small amount of seating inside.
Oh man. These sandwiches are the best. My favorite is buffalo chicken. Is exquisite. Totally recommend. Is very popular, so be prepare to wait in busy hours.
This place has so many kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches. If you like In-n-out you definitely have to try the Cali burger grilled cheese.
Love, love, love!!!! It’s the perfect place for a date night, solo serenity or time with family/friends. There are several seating areas to choose from. I indulged in the swiss mushroom sandwich with a side of cheese loaded sweet potato fries. The food was heavenly and actually exceeded my expectations being a big cheese lover and foodie. The staff was also nothing but smiles, warm welcomes and incredibly attentive. Can’t wait to go back.
Cheesewalla had delicious food in a cool location. We had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and some tater-tots. Both were great. Crispy and tasty. The other items also looked great. The location is cool and interesting, but can be tough to find. The umbrella alley is fun. Highly recommend.
We finally tried this place, after hearing about it forever. So glad we did! This isn't your childhood grilled cheese; it's so much better! And the tater tots were perfectly crispy. I had the BBQ Mac & Cheese, and my lunch buddy had the Loaded Baked Potato. We also got a Traditional. All were delicious, with perfectly toasted Sourdough and gooey melted cheese. There were several other options I will be back to try.
Looking for parking is awful! But the place is amazing. Very small inside to order but the seating arrangements are outside and inside the building. My husband got a jalapeño popper, grandpa had himself a mac n cheese and I had the Margherita. We all taste tested our food and it was delicious. Each one of them was so good! I even dipped my sandwich in my tomato soup. I got full of my meal alone.

Great place for some delicious comfort food! Locally owned and operated by two amazing siblings. The tomato bisque is perfect and my favorite grill cheese these days is the Cali burger. It's a twist on a California style burger dub the sourdough for extra buttery crunch! Sky and Juan and so solid and great service every time over in the bar area.

Deliciously grilled sandwiches. I tried the caprese sandwich and the margarita sandwich and a side of onion rings. Make sure to give yourself 5 to 10 minutes for them to prep everything and cook your order. If the weather is good, I highly recommend sitting outside in the alleyway promenade.
Cheesewalla offers grilled cheese galore. A bit on the pricier side, I do find it to be worthwhile. My personal favorite is the bbq Mac and cheese sandwich. The gooey cheese with the rich bbq, grilled to perfection. Delicious. Paired with a soda or a drink from their bar, can’t go wrong here.
TL;DR - If you're in a rush, go somewhere else, but if you have the time, the grilled cheeses here are amazing. Pros: Great food Lots of options Cool area Cons: Concerning health rating (B) SLOW service (but it's a matter of perception whether that's a bad thing - it was nice just chatting with my girlfriend, enjoying the atmosphere) We ordered samosa and caprese grilled cheese sandwiches. Both were really good, though the potatoes in the samosa weren't quite cooked all the way. Overall, we enjoyed the food, but I'm not sure we'll be back if we're in that area again, because there are a bunch of other eateries in that immediate area.
I thought it was fine - greasy, heavy, salty, solid portions. $13 for a sandwich and tater tots seemed a little high for a counter-order and eat-outside place. But that might be nit picking. Cute joint, love the alley vibe. Wish they had some house made inventive sauces for the sides, would’ve made it more interesting. Might try it again someday. The 5year old took a few bites of sandwich and was done quick...
Lots of cheesy goodness! My kids loved their traditional with tots. Loved that I was able to get the traditional with parmesan crust and bacon! Deliciousness! Let my kids try the donut and they were very surprised...worth trying for sure! Outdoor seating would be perfect on a warm California evening. A little pricey but we realized we ordered too much food... Could have shared sides rather than order combos for each person.
Delicious grilled cheese! A ton of variety of flavors and for a decent price, but the sides are a little expensive. I would recommend trying the pizza grilled cheese or the donut, which is a bit wild but honestly delicious. Good quick place for grab and go food, but not a ton of seating space, although I’ve heard they may be adding more inside. Outdoor seating is super pretty underneath the umbrella alley way, and parking is available on state street and across the street at CVS.
First time trying this place and it was pretty good. I had got the BBQ MAC sandwich which seems to be one of the more popular ones. It needed a little more bbq sauce in my opinion. There is a lot to choose from so take your time when picking what you want. It also seems like the loaded tater tots is the way to go as well.
The outside of this place so cute with umbrellas handing above your head. We walked in and took a look at the menu and decided to order the Buffalo chicken sandwich combo and the jalapeño popper sandwich. The guy that took out order was really chill and took our number so we would be notified when the food was ready. I also got a Dr Pepper. Which was way to sweet and not very carbonated.. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich had chips in it and was pretty good but I paid $9.50 for half my sandwich to not have chicken on it.. and the sauce was only on half the sandwich also which was upsetting. Also the cheese was good but didn’t have enough in some bites and a lot in other bites. It was a very badly proportioned sandwich. The Jalapeño Popper Sandwich good the ingredients were hard to mess up. It had a nice little kick to it and had good flavor. The bread on both sandwiches was toasted perfectly also so I’ll give them that. The fries weren’t served right away, they weren’t fresh out the fryer and were kind of warm but still had a crisp to them.. so obviously they were ready before the sandwiches .. they were okay fries honestly. But we got a side of ranch with them and it was a nice thick and flavorful rich ranch! Overall good place but they need a little more attention to detail. Ranch: 10/10

Usually this place is so good that I'm raving to anybody who will listen, but I'm rather disappointed that they're suddenly serving boring, run-of-the-mill crinkle-cut fries instead of their previous amazing crispy fries, with no warning/notice of the change when I ordered. You used to be my favorite place for date night, but I guess we'll be changing it up from now on. It's one thing if you're struggling and need to make the change, but that's a really disappointing substitution to silently spring on your fans, and I liked y'all so much otherwise.

Went here for the first time last week. It's in a great location right at the beginning of umbrella alley. We went on a hot day. The lady that was at the counter, seemed rushed and unhappy. Thankfully I told her we needed a minute to look over the menu and she left to the back. A young guy replaced her at the front and he seemed happy and was definitely patient. There are two seating areas. The outdoor area to the left of the counter in the alley or the indoor area to the right of the counter. Both areas are very warm with zero fans. So we ultimately decided to sit in the interior area, as it was 1 degree cooler than the outside area. Unfortunately the table and chairs are horrible. The metal tables are small and have a huge crossbar underneath so you can't really sit close to the table without bumping your knees. Then the chairs are super narrow metal chairs and are definitely uncomfortable to sit in for any extended periods time. I would say those table and chairs would be best for teens. So in combination of the heat, no fans, uncomfortable table and chairs, we definitely wanted to hurry up and leave. The food was okay.. not great. We got cheesy Tots, and 3 different sandwiches. There is no kids menu. They have unlimited refills on drinks so that's nice. So overall, probably won't go back...unless they add a couple of fans for warmer weather and update their table and chairs. I did see they have bar seating in the outdoor area so it's probably best to sit there if you do go.
Enjoyed The BBQ & Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches & I’ll Say…… Pretty Dam Good. The Reason For Leaving This Review At 3 Stars Is Because Of Customer Service …. Put A Smile On Your Face When Taking Orders! Make The Customers Comfortable Jesus Christ. Other Than That The Environment Is A Dope Scene.

Let me just say how excited I was to eat here after looking at the menu. I love, love, love all things grilled cheese. That being said, my experience was subpar at best. I ordered take-out via phone and waited 9 minutes after being put on hold, to order. 9 minutes doesn't sound like a long time but it is when your're on hold. I chose the BBQ mac, sauce on the side. As you can see from the photo comparison attached (my sandwich and the example from their website) my sandwich first of all lacked any creamy abundance of mac and cheese, second the bread was soggy (and my bbq sauce was on the side) I actually counted how many pieces of macaroni there was which was 8. 8 pieces of macaroni with no cheese on them. The rest of my order was fine which was tater tots and a donut. But how can you mess up a donut with cheese melted on it. I spent $32 total for my order and was super excited to get home and enjoy my discovery of cheese covered food. Even though it was take out I left a 15% tip because I'm a nice person and the staff deserves it especially right now. Got home and ended up throwing most of the sandwich away after picking out some of the shredded beef to eat. Cheesewalla I welcome the chance for you to make it right!

Food is not terrible, but it’s not good enough to be worth the price. You’d think the portion sizes would be big due to the price, but the sandwich was quite small. I was hoping to enjoy this place due to the unique menu, but I’m pretty disappointed.
Terrible customer service the other day. Cashier Mikayla was too busy trash talking other employees to be concerned with taking my order. Apparently, her complaints take priority to her job. Great food though!
Food was good, we came after a funeral as soon as we came in the blonde lady with glasses from the kitchen walked up as rude as possible saying “you guys need to move this is where people will get their food” it’s our first time here and we couldn’t see the menu not to mention you have a two foot space before the register… after we ordered we came back in to order more waited over 5 minutes with no service… when we got our food I asked for a cup of water for my daughter the girl rudely asked is that it… I asked if she’s okay she rolls her eyes and I told her she should probably not be at work if she’s treating people like that… both blonde ladies were just extremely rude and disrespectful to all of my family when we had 7 adults who spent way over $200 without our kids eating. They need to work on customer service and there attitude and faces because none of us will ever return now because of the awful service they gave every one of us.

Horrible food.. I'll never even think to buy food again at this place... I got some kind of cheese soup and cheese bread I would dare to imagine. Extremely salty and flavorless. Soup is a horrible loss too. Salad? It was the only less to throw in the trash stuff. But yeah all went in to the trash. To think you're selling at a California Staple of restaurants. *Fire your cook*. Never again will I buy anything from your place. I been sick just with three bites. Thank you very much.. And I thought Taco bell was awful...
Needs new employees. Rude customer service they didn't like that. We had 10 people come to eat. They'd rather be no people there. To do nothing made our whole experience awkward be better
Horrible, not impressed at all. Got a jalapeno popper sandwich with no cream cheese and sparse toppings. Instead of fixing the sandwich, they just said, "sorry about that". Very poor customer service. It was my first time trying Cheesewalla and I won't be back. I wanted to like it, but it just wasn't great.
The staff was kind and helpful, the food on the other hand was not great. We got the pepperoni and the Spinach artichoke sandwiches and the side of macaroni and cheese. The sandwiches were ok at best, little to no filling in them, it was mostly bread. The macaroni and cheese made me so angry especially for the price... it was literally a sprinkle of shredded cheese at the bottom of the bowl with hot noodles dumped on top. I was absolutely appalled I didn't actually think it was possible to mess up macaroni and cheese so bad, I guess you learn something new every day.
