Recensioni di Hard Eight Pit BBQ Roanoke
It’s a great place with delicious food and a nice atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The prices are a little high, but the experience is worth it.
One of our favorites! We like to get their lunch special, for $10.50 you get a bar-b-que sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink, you can’t beat that. You can choose between pulled pork, chopped brisket or smoked jalapeño or regular sausage. I like to get the chopped brisket on a jalapeño roll, my husband likes to get the jalapeño sausage on a jalapeño roll, both are great choices! Beans are always free of course and their sweet tea is the best! No free cobbler or banana pudding like Hutchins Bar-B-Que but it’s available for purchase for a small price. Hard Eight is one of our favorite places to get bar-b-que. I would highly recommend this place!
Two words - Freakin’ Amazing! You walk into the little reception area and immediately see the board with all of the menu options and the majority of the items are right there in plain sight prepared fresh. I ordered the Ribeye. Dillon was the cook / chef up front and greeted us with a smile and professionalism. He immediately took care of us and my steak came out simply amazing. Charred perfectly and mouth watering. The baked potato and corn cob side were also excellent but this steak was one I’ll never forget. Highly recommended and will come here on my next trip to Texas!
This place has some GREAT bbq!! It's really good and for a reasonable price. I love the decor on the walls and the inviting atmosphere. The employees were all very kind and helpful during my first visit. The next time I'm in Dallas, this is my staple! Highly recommend this place!
Truly well smoked Texas styled meat. Brisket, sausage, chicken, ham and prime rib purchased by the pound, the meats have that deep smoke flavor that only comes from slow cooking over open coals. As you come into the restaurant, one can see the meat pulled from the rack, hand cut and weighed before heading into the restaurant to select sides and pay. The smoked prime rib is exceptional! The sides are traditional, but the potato salad comes in two forms - traditional and loaded baked potato. (I recommend the later). Pinto beans are great... and unlimited with dine-in seating. Yes... not a low cost meal, but worth it.
Hard Eight is easily a top 3 BBQ joint I have been to. Hard Eight provides a unique “pay by the pound” method where you can get a little bit of this and a little bit of that, where you can get pick out your sides and have an easy checkout process. Brisket: best I ever had 10/10 Pulled pork: doesn’t even need sauce it was that good Rib: meat was falling off the bone good Jalapeño Sausage: a great kick of spice and flavor Jalapeño cream corn: a GREAT fun side Don’t forget to try their free beans after you check out. I want to give a final shoutout to their staff. The meat guys were great with their portions and recommendations, and Noah was super friendly and attentive. Make sure to stop at Hard Eight!
This is one of the greats... Admittedly I haven't been to many BBQ spots but I have had the chance to experience North Carolina BBQ & that was fantastic... But this Texas brisket is probably the best I've ever had! I love you Hard 8💖💖... It's not just where you're from but it's also how skilled & adept are you @ doing some serious BBQ!! These guys are @ the Pinnacle!!!! The service was just as you'd expect, that is to say top notch 😍... My good man Namron went above & beyond for me when he found out I was transporting 1 1/2lbs. of that ridiculously delicious Texas brisket home with me for my Mama... Thank you so very much Namron!😎 Everyone else was a pleasure as well from the door to the table... Bottom line is this is the place to go if you need masterfully prepared Texas brisket... The chicken🍗 was dope, the sirloin🥩 was lit, the sausage was nummy, the sides were certified bonkers... but the star is the Brisket⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟... If you're in the area & you don't come here then I don't believe you were raised properly lol...
What can I say...yummy! Mouth starts watering the minute your nose smells the sweet smell of smoke. Then once your eyes glance across the smorgasbord of meat, decisions have to be made, and hard decisions they are...once meats are selected, then comes the trimmings...overall a great meal...
Everything was great ! Staff is so nice and helpful. I had a stuffed baked potato with brisket and pull pork ! It was awesome!! Potato was cooked perfectly !! Peach cobbler was delicious and fried okra lightly salted like I asked ! Everything was great , super busy , that’s how you know the food is awesome. We will definitely be going back !!
I have had some seriously top notch barbeque... Franklin's, Saltlick and now I can happily say. This! They have their own flavor profiles and it can't be directly compared to those others but what they can do with meat is pure Art! Prices in summer 2021 were incredibly fair for good bbq! Highly recommend.
This was my second Hard 8 BBQ Experience! This is in my opinion, the best place to get brisket. They will even throw in the burnt tips if you want or any other part of the brisket that you would like you just tell the pit boss. And he'll carve it for you. The ribs are perfect. They do not need sauce at all. Even though if you put a little barbecue sauce that they have, and that they offer, it's a heavenly rib experience. I had sausage, brisket, and ribs. And they give you huge portions, so it won't go hungry and you'll feel that you had a very good value for the dollar. Colin, the pit boss came along to say hello and ask how everything was and of course I told him excellent. As well as a manager came by to visit with us and see that everything was as expected. The atmosphere at Hard 8 is very inviting !! Very family oriented yet a great place to have adult get together's too. Ribs: 9.8 Sausage: 8.9 Brisket: 9.8 I've been to a lot of barbecues, and I just don't know where you're gonna get BBQ much better. The smokiness of the meats is just perfect not too much not too little, their rub is phenomenal and they're barbecue sauce ( should you even need it ) is outstanding. Just do it! If you have a taste for barbecue and that's what you want. Well that's what you're gonna get!!!
We really enjoyed this place. Good amount of parking across the street on a weekend. Quick line, plenty of choices, fair pricing for bbq. Everyone was served quickly and the tables were long and accommodating for all the friends. The option to have steaks done right there was a great addition to the standard bbq fare. My favorite was the top sirloin (pictured left in the paper boat) with the garlic butter (available Fri/sat/sun) We will be back for sure and bringing friends!
From the time we got out of the truck we were greeted like family. Every member we came in contact with were extremely friendly. The food never disappoints. The beans are the bomb. Very clean too.
Loved every aspect of the place. Decor, atmosphere and the food? Ordering initially was confusing, but they walked me through it. Go a Ribeye, cooked over wood to my order. It doesn't hit the coals until you order it. Took a few minutes to get it as compared to bulk order meats. But Sooo worth the wait.
Honestly, the meats are where it’s at, whereas the sides are just ok. Wonderful dining area in the open air, good food and atmosphere. The staff was very nice and friendly. They certainly helped us order the right meats. The sausage was amazing! Near a fun part of town, parking may be a bit hard if you have kids with strollers.
Superb pit BBQ. Set in an old barn type setting you can get sandwiches or meats by the pound. We had a large group so we got a selection of everything and shared it between us. Everything was excellent. Brisket, ribs, hot and mild sausage, turkey, Mac and cheese, cream corn, all incredibly tender and flavorful. They have a variety of sauces go add additional flavor. Definitely worth a visit for some authentic Texas BBQ.
We are from out of town. And a lot of folks around here try to send us to the place next to HGsply (you know where I'm talking about). But in my honest opinion - Hard Eight in Roanoke is hard to beat. Brisket is melt in my mouth good. Seasoned perfectly. I feel like I could eat it without teeth. Jalapeno Sausage - not too hot, not too mild. Just right! Fried Okra - for a brief moment I thought I was at my grandma's house. Great simple food. Seasoned just right. Pork Ribs - I'm a bearded guy and I do my best to stay away from the ribs b/c I end up wearing a good portion of them home. But tried these and am glad I did. Super tend, great smoke flavor. My only gripe is more of for myself. Don't come in here starving because you'll end up buying about 7 pounds of meat (the guy showing me all choices is a helluva salesman). We ate almost everything we got. Great Food! Great service. We will be back!
We were looking for authentic Texas BBQ and we found it. Our family was able to select several different cuts of meat and just dig in to enjoy. The pit masters loaded up our tray before heading inside to grab our sides and drinks. The pulled pork was the best followed by the brisket and sausages. The ribs had great flavor but I have had better elsewhere. For the gluten free folks, they have a gluten free menu that lists what is safe to eat and it was very inclusive. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a rustic feel. Coming from Minnesota, we really enjoyed the food and overall experience! We would definitely come here again
Best BBQ and Brisket hands down!!! I made a trip from South Carolina out here to Fort Worth for a huge car show back in September of 2021 and I stopped here for dinner and I can’t even explain how great the food was. The brisket and the ribs were top notch. The ribs would fall off the bone when I would just pick them up. The brisket was absolutely the best brisket I have ever had in my life! I would 100% make another 15 hour trip just to come and eat here again. Highly recommend this place well done.
I've been to a lot of BBQ spots from NC to SC, TN, KS, and several in TX. This was by far my favorite so far. I love smoking meats at home, recreating my favorite sauces and rubs from scratch, so I know good BBQ when I taste it. What a cool experience literally walking up to the pit and ordering your meats! I want to go back! I had the brisket (melted in your mouth), the smoked turkey and the jalapeño sausage. All of it was phenomenal! I'm very sad I forgot to order the frozen jack n Coke. Next time!
An overall great experience today, they have everything in your face so you know what you're eating b4 you eat it. ribs 3.4/5, sausage 3.7/5, slice brisket 3.6/5, chopped brisket 3.4/5, Mac & cheese 3.0/5, corn on the cob 3.6/5 & apple cobbler 4.2/5. I definitely recommend if your within 10-13 miles of Roanoke TX area. It's a solid choice.
This was our first visit to this Hard 8 location and it didn't disappoint! The line seemed long on a Saturday evening but the line moved fast! You grab a tray and then order whatever meat you want and amount and the price is by weight! Then you go to another area for sides like salads and dessert .. Servers who cut the meat were courteous and fast, I asked for no fat in my brisket and he did it. Everything was cooked perfectly, my favorite was the brisket and the sausage was really good too. I loved their elote corn, the fried okra and the potato salad! Plenty of seating and they had guitar live music. The whole experience was great! We will be back !
From out of state, I ordered a huge welcome home meal for my friends in Roanoke but the delivery (contractor with a different company) was unsuccessful. (That's a whole separate story...) What impressed me was how the restaurant made it right. They prepared an entirely new meal. The manager was cheerful and kind when my friend went to pick it up. This incredible service is worth recognition and praise! Thank you!
Top notch BBQ! They let you pick from all kinds of meat to make your platter. They probably have specific platters too. My first visit was quite enjoyable
The service is comically good here. They have a patrol to pace the lobby looking for people who are done eating so they can take your tray, I don’t think I’ve ever made it all the way to the trash can with one. Food is always fantastic, honestly love it here.
Ok so I had the Prime rib and it was just fantastic. My husband got a variety plate and my son had a ham stuffed baked potato. I loved everything, the smoked turkey was juicy, but the jalapeño sausage was probably my favorite. You walk up and order your meat and or potatoes of the grill, pay then can be seated inside or out. The staff was patient as my son choose his food and they really explained everything to us.
Great food, fast courteous service. Good atmosphere. Manager personally greets customers. Second to none.
Texas Pit BBQ. The first thing that hits you is the awesome smoked smell that rushes through the building. They are cooking out in the open, and you get to walk through the herd lanes, taking it all in. This sets you off to think "I Want to Try Everything". The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The set up is friendly and you get to interact with the cook team. Inside you gets sides, I suggest twice baked potato salad. Do not miss this place, downtown Ronaoke is up and coming.
We loved this place. The bbq is great. We had the brisket, ribs, smoked sausage, and bacon wrapped chicken. The sides we had were potato salad mustard based very good as well. Cole slaw was pretty sweet but good. The jalapeño cream corn was amazing, sweet with a little heat. The beans are great lots of flavor love them. We love smoked bologna as well . They were out but we will be back for sure.
My family and I were looking for a different place and we saw a line here and thought let's check it out. Boy am I glad we did. The food was great. Definitely one of my top 3 favorites when it comes to BBQ. We ordered 1/2 ib of brisket, 1/2 Sirloin, half a chicken, 1/2 Pulled pork. It was delicious. We also got the sweet corn coleslaw. Be sure to try the free in house beans also a great side...
Such a cool place and really delicious food! We had a spread of ribs (falls off the bone), brisket (melts in your mouth), chicken and the spicy sausage. The sweet potato fries are some of the best I've ever had. I think this is a great place for the whole family to enjoy a great time together whilst enjoying an amazing meal!
Have only been here for 3 months and love this place. Great place to bring family or friends when people are visiting town. I love this place, but watch your eye balls when your getting your meat, it can get very pricey!! Food hasn't been overly consistent, and for the price I feel it should be. We will keep going back, because I love it, but you need to make your own decision.
Great food. Great place for real Texas BBQ. Honestly the best brisket I've ever had. The chicken was nicely seasoned. BBQ sauces are tangy and go very well with the meats. Nice variety of sides as well and very tasty. I really liked the jalapeño sweet corn. Onion rings are nice and crunchy. The staff is the best. Very attentive and friendly and make you feel at home. The place itself is very nice. The food ordering flow is great. Get your meats outside where they are fresh and well stocked. Then go inside for your sides and pay and right to your table. Seating inside or outside. Plenty of TVs to watch sports while eating and talking. Highly recommend Hard Eight BBQ for a real Texas BBQ. I will certainly be back next time I'm in town.
I have never been here before but I was just hired by an amazing company that my supervisor takes new employees and the rest of my department out to lunch to welcome me. This place is totally different from any place I've ever been. First you get hit with the amazing aroma of some quality smoking would then you get inside and you're pretty much got a smorgasbord and you can order proportionally from all things barbecue. It's kind of like a cafeteria style where you walk down the line and pay at the end, but it's not. It's finer than that. The establishment is rustic but in all the right ways. They represent their brand very well and their food is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection.
We had family visiting from the Midwest and wanted to show them a genuine BBQ experience! Hard Eight is just incredible! Delicious food, authentic ambience, and the staff are insanely WONDERFUL! The staff made the experience just that much more enjoyable. Colin and Khia went out of their way to ensure my two young boys had a memorable time! I wish more people were as incredible and as filled with kindness as those two!
I was visiting my parents and decided to bring them BBQ. I called and asked about their Take Out procedure. Rusty told me that if you place an order online, it will not ally take an hour. If you place a phone order, your order would be ready in 25-35 minutes. I called back and spoke to Carlos. Carlos was awesome! I told him that I would have a sleeping kid when I arrived and he said he would take it out to me. How cool is that? I arrived and Carlos came outside (while it was raining). Five star service!!! I will 100% be back here again due to the exceptional service (and did I mention that the food is amazing as well!!!). Thank you, Carlos!
1st time to eat here & I was highly impressed! The food selection was great! The live music was very inviting. The staff were all kind & had big smiles. The food let me tell you so many choices! My favorite was the stuffed baked potato!! The jalapeño sausage, the cream pepper corn was so delicious! Absolutely recommend, plenty of places to sit & enjoy. The beans were perfect. The brisket was finger licking good!!
We live in Michigan and whenever we are visiting the Dallas area we come to Hard Eight. It is one of our favorite BBQ restaurants. Everything is so good. My favorite is the wet brisket and it's always so moist and tender. They heard we were visiting and they gave us a few freebies to try. Thanks so much. I like how you can pick from all of the meats and make a sampler. Make sure to get the jalapeño corn. I am hungry thinking about it now.
I wish I had pictures to post, but the food just absorbed into my body. I love BBQ, I cook it, eat it, what shoes and videos! This place is the best BBQ I have ever had. The price isn't as high as I was expecting. And for the food you get l, it's worth it. I lived everything I got but for me, the jalapeno smoked sausage was the cream of the crop. I recommend hard 8 for your BBQ needs!
I walked in off the street because it looked pretty cool. There was a catered event going on, I think, so it was a bit confusing, but the staff were polite and helpful in getting me to the right place for some carryout. The brisket was out of this world! I can't wait to go back and try more. The dine in experience looked pretty fun!
First time bust and wow!!! Walking up to the pit and seeing them cook and slice the food was amazing! The sides were incredible!! As. Texan I think this place is in my room five BBQ places for short! The food is Good and there's lots of meat options. The sides are good southern staples and the atmosphere is lovely. Absolutely will be back!
Very good food. The Jalapeño cream corn was simply amazing. It compliments very well with the smoked turkey and pulled pork that we had ordered. I think they should carry corn tortillas along with sliced bread as an additional choice. The pulled pork would go so well with the corn tortillas.
This is just something you have to do. When you're in Texas, do as the Texans do and get some Texas BBQ. The whole experience has a ranch feel. You need to get the jalapeno creamed corn and I just get a jalapeno bun on the side with lots of butter. As for the meat, the ribs are okay but the brisket is absolutely pinnacle. Get some extra to take home. I like the Roanoke location best because it's a little historic town and it's got a great little street you can walk on and go and get some candy for the kids next door or get a drink in one of the cantina's.
Ordered the famous brisket along side jalapeno sausage. The brisket was good, well done with burnt ends. Ribs, corn on the cob and regular sausages were also available. The side options were plenty starting with jalapeno street style corn which was creamy and sweet, Mac & cheese , coleslaw. There were some house special sauces like the spicy bbq, sweet bbq, pepper sauce which paired well with the brisket. Overall an authentic Texas joint serving BBQ!
Outstanding bbq, will be going back, the brisket is so tender, falls apart, ribs are great

Some of the best BBQ I've had in a while. Went on Father's Day and still received fast and amazing service. Loved the self serve beans. Will definitely be back!
Solid brisket here. Stick with the brisket and potato and thank me later. I will definitely be back, probably to try the beef ribs.

Best BBQ place I’ve been. Go for the ribeye, 16oz, loaded baked potato salad is crazy good. Can’t wait to go back.
No dine just pick up. Seem pretty crowded when I was there the atmosphere is great. The place feel welcoming about the food it was good juicy tender. I do recommend if your looking for BBQ and I good spot to hang out and eat with family. Sorry about the pick for not making it nice and beautiful but this is what I ordered
We just happened upon this place and we really enjoyed the food here! Watch out when you order because my eyes are always bigger than my stomach making the bill higher than I would like. Couldn't decide between the cornbread salad and okra but I finally decided on the fried okra so I asked them to make the okra extra well done and they didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to trying the cornbread salad next time.
As an Austinite this place is up to par with Salt Lick and Rudy’s! Every single piece of meat we tried was sooooo delicious!! Would give it 5 stars but it fell short on bbq sauce and beans. The barbecue sauce tasted so extremely nasty, I hope they change the formula. And the beans… they tasted like canned beans.. would have loved for the beans to be ranch style or have some flavor at least.
Alright this place is great. Portions are huge and atmosphere is wonderful. Service and cleanliness is A+. Live band is wonderful. Ok there are some misses. As they pull off brisket in foil the cutter scrapes off most of the top fat. Strange because that's usually where a lot of flavor is. Odd. There was flavor but would have preferred more smoke or the missing fat (seasoning) Be warned though take home is a norm. So there is a full pork chop but ours we had asked to be dipped ( in butter pepper ) they squeezed it out of a bottle on top of the chop. It actually added more moisture to the dry chop. The original bbq sauce helped offset the dryness also. There wasn't enough butter sauce though for the chop sadly. The chop is seasoned and then smoked. The sausages were great both regular and spicy. The mac and cheese was good The free beans are nothing special , decent but no bacon , more u load up the more noise for later. Fried Okra was a hit! Perfect with a hit of salt. Good load of condiments, fresh onions, pickles, white bread, original and spicy bbq sauce, etc. Indoor seating is cooler but will cool your food also , remember this is bbq. Hot foods and cold pop! This is my first time there and even joined their Facebook page to try to find some discounts, also Yelp but to no luck. Good food , great atmosphere.
Happy to say I've officially filled my monthly meat quota. Take this for what it's worth from a New Yorker, this place has some great BBQ. I had some ribs, a popper, and turkey stuffed potato. And some cold beers. Good atmosphere too. Bit of a wait though, only one guy caring the meat.
Overall - excellently cooked food with a different approach to food preparation and purchase. There is a wide variety of BBQ food options with an almost cafeteria approach to food preparation and payment. It creates an atmosphere of pure enjoyment of the food waiting on staff to provide needs. Steak is cooked by demand while all other main dish meats are prepped and then given as desired and charged by weight. Sides are delicious but were out of stock of Mac and cheese upon our arrival. The chicken on a stick with jalapeños and onions was also somewhat dry.
Bbq is hard to rate people have different taste. Kids and wife loved it. To me not my flavor. I ate so it was not bad but different. Still is a great place to eat.
Was in town for a wedding and was told by many that we needed to stop by Hard 8 BBQ before we left. Great little spot and atmosphere. Pay by the pound type ordering. I wanted to sample all the meats so we got a bite of each minus Turkey and Ham choices. After choosing the meats you walk inside to another line of sides to choose from if you desire. We got spicy corn and a cup of peach cobbler. The meats we choose were brisket, bacon wrapped chicken, bacon wrapped shrimp, pulled pork, ribs, spicy sausage, regular sausage and slice of sirloin steak. Out of all those the sausage, ribs, steak, pulled pork and chicken was the best. Awesome flavors The brisket was over cooked, no smoke ring and tasted like a roast. The bacon wrapped shrimp was tough and the taste was of something I never want in my mouth again. The spicy corn was great and the icing on the cake was the peach cobbler! Could have made myself sick eating 3-4 more cups! Overall great experience and would return again and hopefully the brisket isn’t over cooked!
The moment you pull up in the parking lot, you can smell the most delicious BBQ food you can ever ask for. You walk in and they are literally smoking the meats infront of you. You can't get closer to the kitchen than that. I ordered the following 1 - smoked sausage 1 - beef brisket 1- baked potato 1 - cherry cobbler 1 - beans 1 - BBQ ribs 1 - sweet tea Not one of those items missed the mark. Amazing job Hard Eight BBQ. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
I visited the Roanoke location. I am not a fan of seating that they mostly have. I'm a big guy and don't like stools much or stools bolted to the ground. I can't get comfortable at the table. They have tables with regular chairs but there are fewer of them and do fill up fast. I try to go during off times when not busy to make sure I get one of those tables. Aside from the seating the food is really good. I have had a few different things, the sliced brisket sandwich, ribs, smoked jalapeños sausage. The Mac and cheese is creamy and thick, the corn has jalapeños and cream in it. Also really good. The fried okra is well seasoned. FYI, one order will be enough for two people. It's a large serving.
Had 1/2 lb of Brisket & Sweet Tea Brisket & Tea were excellent . Set up was odd in that when we walked in we weren't sure what to do as there were just people sitting down on a stone mantel. We figured out we were to go behind a fence where they were cooking Then we were told to go through another door . There was a server there who offered bread, white or wheat ( would have liked toasted or garlic bread options ) Then wasnt aure what to do next, walked through a line with unmarked food options , got what I thiught was butter, but was hot mustard or something Was looking for baked beans & got some dessert item They have cooked beans for free, but would have l liked BBQ flavored baked beans, but they were good. The oroginal sauce was excellent As a bonus their qas a bar area Chairs were all on the harder side , girlfriend didn't like that Was confusing on how to leave
This is a place we always go to when in town visiting family who live in the area. Everybody has their own preference on BBQ and I personally like a different style of BBQ sauce than what they offer here and the potato salad isn't my favorite, for example. But, their sausage is some of my favorite I've had! Overall, I'm always very happy with the service and food here! Any place you walk in and they pull the meat right off the smoker for you is a place that I'm gonna recommend. Worth the stop in!

This was so disappointing!! The atmosphere is AWESOME! Such a cool patio and experience! The food was such a let down though!! We tired so many things and honestly, we really didn't like any of it …
Ribeye was grilled to perfection, tender and juicy. Service was friendly and knowledgeabl. Loved the bull heads on one side and rump mounts on the other! drinks were very good.
Service was friendly. That's about all I can say about this place. The BBQ was just not very good. meat had very little taste and was quite dry. Had to put BBQ sauce on everything to eat it. Mac & …
The food is decent and expensive. Didn't seem too clean. Wonder how they stay open? bbq fatty. Long wait.
First time here, wanted to try a little of everything I could. We got brisket, turkey, jalapeño sausage, and couple of ribs. When you first walk in the foods right there and ready, you pick your meats, get it on a tray then they weigh it and figure up your price. It was different than what I’ve seen before. You get your food right away, but most of the meat was just sitting there and all of it was cold by the time we sat down. Then you pass through to inside and get your sides, everything sitting there in small containers cafeteria style. Grabbed almost one of everything to try. So out of all the meats, the brisket was just ok, turkey was good and moist, ribs were cold and dry, and the jalapeño sausage was really good. Out of the sides twice baked potatoes salad was good, reg potato salad wasn’t good, it was really sweet, which is odd for potato salad. Jalapeño creamed corn was good, ranch beans are all you can eat, they were good. Mac and cheese was good and creamy. Ended with two desserts, banana pudding and rum pie. Pudding was decent, rum pie thing wasn’t very good. All in all most things were just good, nothing great or worth going back for any one thing. The portion of meat in the pic was 40 bucks, everything else another 40, so a little expensive.
Where is the flavor? Skip this place and go to Hutchins BBQ a few miles away. I’ve been spoiled by great Texas BBQ in Austin - Franklin, Mueller, Salt Lick, et al. Most of the meats are light on flavor that need sauce to be good. The brisket was dry and rubbery. All sides came in styrofoam which feels a bit outdated at this point. Overpriced. Under-delivers
Food got 3 stars only because of a culmination of my visits here. However, if I were rating off my experience tonight, it would be 1 star. I came here - far out of my way - because of past experiences with their steaks being tender, flavorful and cooked with precision. Upon entering, my initial interaction with the guy taking my order and watching the kid grilling, I was apprehensive. Sadly, I was correct. My steak came and when I cut into it, it was medium rare... But that was the only part 🤦There was no continuity in how it was cooked. Half of it was medium well, some parts well, medium and the one section I cut into upon delivery, as ordered, medium rare. The steak itself was grissly, tough, grainy, flavorless, and it was only lukewarm even though charred. There was another person whose steak was not cooked properly. The kid at the grill looked like he didn't know what he was doing and no concept of how heat is distributed. Needless to say, I am extremely hesitant to return.
We purchased brisket and ribs with sides of baked patato, corn on the cob and Mac and cheese. The ribs had good flavor, and a decent bite off the bone. Maybe a little soft on the bite. I was excited to eat the brisket, but was very disappointed. If I didn’t know any better I would say it was cooked over charcoal that was lit by lighter fluid. Had a very noticeable bitter lighter fluid taste and smell. Disappointed.
Service was great! Food was just alright. It was nothing special compared to all the other bbq places in Texas. Terry blacks blows this one out of the water in my opinion. The quality of the BBQ here compares to a smaller bbq shop or even a chain like dickeys. Employees were all super great, but next time I'm looking for bbq in the area I will head somewhere else.
Their service was great, food was ok. turkey was dry and I had an end piece, which I usually love that I couldn't eat it was soo hard.

The wait is terrible for so-so BBQ. Tried to get takeout and they were out of Turkey for the baked potato. So, I asked for chicken. On it instead and they refused. I'll drive further to Grapevine for Meat you Anywhere. They have way better BBQ.
I ordered food to go and when I got there ended up ordering more. When I got home there was not a single thing of bbq sauce in the bag. How do you forget the most important thing? This happens all the time and normally I check before leaving but just got side tracked today. I called to ask wheat we can do about this and Spencer could care less about helping. So if you go here make sure to triple check your to go order because they always forget something
Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10 minutes to Hutchins. This meal was $25 before tip. Bacon was undercooked. Flies everywhere. Sirloin was pretty much taffy. Sad to see what was once such a great spot, not seem to care about quality. Original Hutchins in Southlake. Not even comparable.
