We had a good time in this restaurant. The owner was very friendly and the food was great. We had an entre, hand made pasta, a bottle of house wine, bread, sparkling water and coffee. The bill was 70 Euros.

Love the food, our attendant was polite attentive and joking. I don’t know what the other reviews are all about but not our experience at all. We loved the place so much it became our dinner place the last three nights of our stay, ran into a couple we had met on the cruise whom we had recommended this place too as well and they loved it too (they were from Montreal), and even my brother and his family that came to meet us for a few nights while touring Italy themselves enjoyed it. And price was great and

Honestly can't understand where the bad reviews come from. I can only imagine it's a different place?! this restaurant was superb! humble homemade pasta and pizza which was the best we tasted the whole time in Rome. a lovely house wine which was half the price of other nearby restaurants and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Could eat here every day!

I’m not sure where all the bad reviews came from, but this place is a small little known gem. Best pizza I’ve had in my over a year living in Italy and the staff were unbelievably friendly and fun. Small place so the service is very personal and inviting. They don’t even use a pad to write down your order. We had 9 people in our party, took up half the restaurant, and he listened as our 5 kids said random things and 4 adults ordered. Not one plate had a crumb on it at the end of the night. I can’t wait to come back!!

Posto molto accogliente, personale gentilissimo, cortese e simpatico.

Forget it! Sorry.

M

Pessimo ristorante molto caro rapporto qualità/prezzo. Bagno sporco. Da evitare.

N

They don't deserve any star. The staff clothes were dirty, the place is messy, the food is bad and the manager is used to quarrel with the clients. While we ate, the manager quarreled with 3 clients, because they extra charge for bread and table and also claim 12% tips. It is a real tourist trap and they behave like hell. More then that, one of their employees was trying to hang on 2 tourists from the next table.I was shocked. No recommendation and please don't go there. Rome is fantastic and you really don't need to spoil your holiday eating there.

E
Ellie Shaw

The service was terrible even though they charge 12% for service. I got my Pizza after the rest of my family had finished their main course and they had to ask us what we were ordering a second time. They probably lost the sheet with our previous orders on it. A basket of bread was brought over to us without our consent and as there’s five in our family there were 5 small slices of bread. They charged us €2 per slice of bread (€10 euro for the basket with 5 slices). They then brought us another basket of bread and charged us another €10 so €20 in total for bread. €2 for 1 slice of bread is too much as you could buy a whole loaf of bread for that. The pizza was soggy in the middle and raw. Only the outside of the pizza was cooked. In total our bill added up to €91 which is far too expensive for 5 people seeing as we only had a main course and our drinks. Do not go to this restaurant, it is a disaster and by far the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Italy.

We made the mistake of not checking reviews before and went to this place. We wanted to go into a less touristic place and on first glance it looked fine. But as many others wrote already the food is medium at best and the biggest surprise comes with the bill! An additional 2 € table fee (which i am convinced he made up as we refused the bread he wanted to bring) plus another 4 service cost and 4 € for the water that you get for free in most restaurants. For that money you can eat better at any place in Rome! I hope that i can spare at least one person the feeling of being cheated on with this review!

J
Jenni L

It's the kind of restaurants that you go only once and never again, feeling robbed and cheated. We paid 90 euros for two adults and one kid! For that price you should at least get decent food, but NO! The food is ok according to my husband, very plain in my opinion and horrible if you ask my 6-year-old. I've had way better food than this for half the price in Rome. So, don't go there. We did once and that's the biggest mistake of all our 4 trips to Rome.

J
Jacqueline Foy

I would not even give this place a 1 Star. It needs to be avoided at all costs, we were looking in the window and the staff were straight out, offering us the hard sell of great food and service. We were taken in the restaurant and knew then we had made a big mistake ( huge). I asked for house wine but asked if I could taste it first, after tasting it and finding it to be really bad quality, I decided to drink local beer. We ordered dinner & it was awful, mine was steak, they did not even ask how I wanted this cooked, so my husband went and told a member of staff. The staff inside were a little condescending to say the least, but when it arrived it smelt disgusting and looked and tasted so bad I had to give it back. I was told I could order something else, so I asked for a pasta dish, when this came the pasta was still hard and the food was still very bad, certainly not fresh pasta what they advertised. Hence to say I never ate anything. We were then approached by a member of staff who got very defensive that I had sent my first plate back and when he saw I had still it eaten he asked if it was to many Calories??? We asked for the bill so we could leave, to see we had been charged 18 euros for 2 beers. The overall bill was 61.00 euro for 2 pasta dishes , 2 beers and a bruschetta starter.. They even added 12% service charge.. for what service I do not know, maybe the privilege of speaking out to such a rude man who made me feel very uncomfortable. So if you want bad food, bad service and a dirty environment this is the place for you.. lots of other good restaurant around with far better food and service.

N
Nikola Dordevic

I post the same comment on trip adviser. I hope that it will help some one. Please avoid this place. I went there with my Italian friend and next day both of us got diarrhea. If you want to spend next days in Rome siting in a Toilet then you are on the right place. I must say that food tasted very good (except the bread that was extremely hart) but next day it was a hell. And yes, important thing... the waiter from Pakistan was quite boring and was telling us his said stories. Inside the restaurant it was very very hot and for this service, we have overpaid. That is for sure.

T
Tim Lamarre

When we went inside, he brought a plate of 5 slices of meat and 4 pieces of bread that we didn't order. Turns out that they were one of those "gifts" in restaurants that you find out later that they aren't gifts (8 euros for the meat and 4 euros for the bread!?!). The main came and it was amazing bucatini, so it's impossible to fault the cook. When the bill came, it was basically illegible scribbles on paper....but the total was written legible enough for some reason. We asked about the other charges and found out about the meat and bread prices. We also saw Antonio put on tip for himself that was over 20%! It really irked me that he was so blatantly trying to rip us off, so I vowed to put a review to warn people about this place. If you're careful and question EVERYTHING that guy does, you can treat yourself to some great pasta. Before you sit down, ask if there is a tip, ask if any presents are truly free, ask about everything. I would go back but I'd be extremely blunt about everything to make sure he have any wiggle room to do anything fishy. Reading the other reviews, it looks like they have a whole bunch of different tricks to shake-down their customers. Be super careful.

I went there with my boyfriend for dinner. As soon as we were seated they put bread and water on the table (didn't ask if we wanted any) only to find out at the end that they cost us an additional 8 euro (4 euro for 4 slices of bread). The food was average at best, with the puttanesca spaghetti being much too salty and the canneloni containing what appeared to be hamburger meat. At the end the check was around 7 euros above what we expected, 3 of which we could not account for at all (even after accounting for the bread and water). The bill was not explicit in any way and did not list the exact dishes and prices so we could understand what we were paying for. When we asked the waiter about the price difference he was extremely impolite and dismissive. The staff was only friendly and interested in us until we ordered and no one said good-bye after we paid and left. Stay away from this restaurant, there are plenty of better places to eat in Rome.

A
Alex Crawford

Avoid at all costs... tourist trap. Over sold on many things. Ask for a plate for the table, but gave everyone there own plate. That was 75.00 dollars later. The wine was good, but he pick the more expensive wine. They were aggressive for a tip when they already included it and didn't say anything. Avoid at all cost! So many better places to eat at.

J
Jordan Petkov

The service was not first class and when a fillet was ordered they brought back something that was full of beef tendons. The service ended up on the bill automatically at 12% without even asking. I was prepared to deny any tip but they did not give you a choice. The irony was that we were looking for small family restaurants where one enjoys a genuine Romaine cuisine but ended up in a classical tourist trap place. Never ever again.

S
Sophie Shaw

To say this place is a monstrosity is an understatement . The waiter cheekily pulled us in from the street and was incredibly clingy when handing us the bill in aims to make us uncomfortable and not look to much into it. An unagreed payement of bread came to 20 euro for 2 baskets each containing around 4 small pieces of bread !!!! The pizza I received should get top marks for being the absolute worst pizza I have ever put into my mouth. It was raw in the centre and soggy - I count myself extraordinarily lucky that I didn't get food poisoning as it was a sight for sore eyes. They decide to tip themselves a service charge of 12% which is irony for rubbish food which was cold and probably frozen and microwaved several times. I agree with other reviewers out there. Our first meal in Rome was disgusting and a four year old could have made me a better meal. Do not waste your time in such a beautiful city in such a disgraceful place. Definitely do not go here ever.. But like us if you already have I'm glad you are still alive and not dead from food poisoning Someone really needs to remove this horrible restaurant as I am also sure it's hygiene standards are sub zero

K
Kian Eisazadeh-Far

Do not go to this restaurant at all! The owner is a criminal, cheater, and so manipulative. He does not speak English at all, or maybe pretends that he does not understand it. It was a bad experience that I had in Rome. I went to many restaurants and Cafes during my visit and they were all lovely, except this one. The owner stands in front of the restaurant, whispers Italian songs, and invites people to go in. The food is way below average; but the bill will cost you much more than the price in the menu. He adds 4.00 euros for water, 2 euros for three pieces of bread, and 3 euros for tax (that does not take place in other restaurants). Do not ruin your visit in Rome by going to this restaurant.

F
Felita Emanuelson

We made the mistake of walking into this place thinking it was a mom and pops place. The whole ordeal was a disaster. The owner suggested a few dishes, so we trusted him, he ended brining my husband and I a pizza, a pasta clam dish, a seafood plate and bruschetta. Obviously way to much food for the two of us. We were shocked first of how much food came because he was saying a small dish on the side. When the bill came, it was 120.00 and my husband tipped not knowing they already added 12% to the check. The food was not very good, especially compared to other places we have been here and half the price. Stay clear of this place, it is a rip off.

K
Kasper Søltoft Pedersen

Terrible place. Biggest rip off ever tried. We went 5 people and had 5 large beers (18€ each), 5 bruschetta for starters (15€ each) and good pasta and pizza for main. The total ended on 280€!!!! I would not recommend to even my worst enemy! Would have given 0 stars if possible.

G

Cordialement.

D
Dave Grant

Stupid us! Didn't read reviews. Tired after hot day sightseeing and handy to our hotel. Supermarket reheated pizzas, soggy pasta and tinned sauce. Give them credit, it takes real effort to make such simple food so bad in Italy! Everything else was exactly like every other review here! However they forgot to charge for wine and I would always tell if that happens but not here. Sadly we had poor experiences in several Rome restaurants but never from "Romans". Avoid at all costs or if you are reading this afterwards like we did - my condolences.

C
Cleo D

Avoid at all cost. Desserts are a disaster and extremely expensive. Scam and a tourist trap. They charge for bread and I wasn’t even offered the bread and the man had the nerve to argue with me when I asked why the extra charge. Should have checked the reviews first. I’ve forgotten to mention that my bill was almost doubled. I was charged €44 for a meal that cost €24. When I asked why, he told me that it’s tourist charge, bread charge and service charge and the bill was hand-written and illegible. Even the people at the reception of the hotel were I was staying couldn’t even read the bill. So in Rome, I wasn’t pick pocketed on the streets, but in a restaurant. I’ll still visit Rome though but not this restaurant. Their advantage is their location.

M
Martin Phee

Food was ok. Wine was way over priced. The food cost was above average also. We've had much better for half the price. After looking at the bill closer they're are a few fishy charges. Not sure if the food was even made in that restaurant. Every time I saw someone order a guy ran out the door with a bag (reusable grocery bag) and came back shortly. All I saw in the kitchen was a convection oven. Maybe it went back further, but couldn't see it. 112€ for two adults two kids. There's also normally an 18€ service charge which they waved. Our mistake for stopping at a place in a tourist area.

J
Julia Rad

I normally don't give negative feedback, but this restaurant really rips off tourists. Water, bread, service fee and other additional costs will charged (for us it represented 1/3 of the bill). I would not have given this feedback, if it would have been transparent from the beginning. The pizza was in other restaurants better.

C
Crystal H

Check total $32. Not a pricey meal, but way overpriced for this rubbish!!! There are too many places to eat AVOID THIS ONE!!!! It was hot, we were tired and made the mistake of not checking reviews before we went into this place. We’ve been in Rome for 4 days and this is the first place that has been YUCK!!! We ordered the Margherita pizza $8, stuffed cannelloni $10, mixed salad (just lettuce and grape tomatoes-they do not have salad dressing) $6, still water $4, service charge $4. We first sat down our order was taken, our water was brought quickly and crusty bread was placed on the table, I love Italian bread, their bread seemed a little hard, rather chewy and some pieces were burnt, we were hungry so we ate it anyway. Our order came in an average time. The pizza tasted like an at home microwave pizza, with the perfectly round crust, same thickness throughout, airbrushed with tomato water, rubber grease cheese with orange dots magically appearing through the yellow (wish I had my cell yesterday, because a picture is worth 1,000 words). The cannelloni said stuffed, I should have asked him what it was stuffed with, because we couldn’t figure it out. It was smothered in this orangish/pinkish sauce that tasted like Chef Boyardee fell into skim milk. Finally the “salad” the only thing in the restaurant that was fresh. Although fresh, it was not filling nor a salad. It had shredded lettuce, couple sprigs of arugula, and 4 quartered grape tomatoes (the waiter said that they do not have dressing for the salad). A liter of still water $4 not cold and no ice was provided. We were the only people in the place and We waited a while for the check. We still had a lot of unfinished food, so he probably thought we were not finished.

Cruda e inzuppata d'olio. Il mc donand in confronto è il 🔝
