In occasione del menù degustazione dei piatti della "tradizione", sono tornata in questo ristorante situato nel quartiere Borgo Pio e devo dire che è stata una piacevole conferma. Una bellissima scoperta. Abbiamo trascorso con loro la serata del 31.12 scegliendo il menù di S.Silvestro. Ristorante tendente al gourmet, cucina innovativa ma con rispetto verso la tradizione e il territorio; si sente la mano dello chef con le sue origini e le sue radici. Cantina ampia e ricercata, gestita con amore dal gentilissimo Francesco, il quale si è preso cura di noi in ogni scelta e selezione dei vini. Sento di dire che dall’inizio alla fine è stato un percorso culinario, qualcosa di originale che difficilmente trovi in zona. Per chi ama intraprendenza, autenticità e audacia…consiglio vivamente di passare da loro! Complimenti a tutto lo staff super preparato e amorevole.

We did the tasting menu w the wine pairing right after a visit to the Vatican ~12 min walk... What a way to end the day, and our trip to Rome. Best culinary experience in Rome. Wine pairing offered some amazing wines from all over Italy. Service was on par with everything else. Excellent. Thank you Francesco and team 🙏 Stand out dishes were the pork belly and pappardelle. We had an absolutely wonderful lunch at this hidden gem just steps from the Vatican. From the moment we arrived, the warm and flawless welcome made us feel at home. The menu is small, which we loved, it’s a sign of a chef who focuses on quality and creativity rather than quantity. Each dish was beautifully crafted, full of unexpected flavor combinations and originality. The culinary journey was filled with surprises: we were treated to a variety of appetizers, including some we hadn’t even ordered, and each bite was more exciting than the last. We also received a refreshing apple basil sorbet and delightful sweet bites at the end of the meal that were both surprising and delicious. I truly recommend this place to anyone looking for something special in Rome. A true 10/10.

I went with a friend on a Saturday evening. Granted we went early, but the place was eerily quiet to start. We got the tasting menu. Some dishes were impeccable- eg the mushroom and the deer tartar. The fish was good as well but hard to eat chard with a fish knife. Very unique and great presentation overall. But some of the other dishes were a letdown (especially the amuse bouche, which kind of set the tone for the rest of the meal for me). I also didn’t like the flavour profile of the tortelli, which would normally be my fav dish. So overall good for an experience, but I’m not sure I’d go back.

Si presenta come un ristorante di “alta fascia” in cui ci aspettavamo altrettanta qualità, ma sinceramente non siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. Quasi tutto era molto salato e condito, ma non di ottima qualità. Innanzitutto l’accoglienza è molto curata, così come il locale in se. Ci hanno dato degli assaggi iniziali che erano molto creativi e saporiti. Punto molto positivo. Dalle recensioni avevamo letto che avesse opzioni vegan (per la mia compagna) ma quando abbiamo chiesto effettivamente cosa prevedesse il percorso vegetale, questo aveva ingredienti vegetariani e non vegani. Ci hanno quindi preparato una zucca fuori menu, cosa apprezzata ma il piatto era salatissimo e con scaglie di tartufo di bassa qualità. Non ricordavano il vero sapore del tartufo fresco. Le opzioni di pesce per me hanno deluso di molto le aspettative. Le ostriche cotte a vapore non erano molto saporite ed erano immerse in una salsa al limone molto acidula. La pasta ai ricci di mare invece era abbastanza buona. Anche se preferirei spaghetti grossi piuttosto che spaghettini e più al dente. Molto buono il vino ed il pane. La trota invece non era per niente saporita (era più buona la salsa in cui era immersa). Quantità molto scarse il che da un lato è buono per poter gustare tutto senza riempirsi, anche se un po’ al limite ed effettivamente questi sapori da gustare non erano niente di speciale. Rapporto qualità prezzo molto scarso. Positivo invece il servizio e l’ambiente.

We booked Taverna Angelica for dinner on New Year’s Eve, after reading the good reviews online. Whilst the food was delicious, overall the experience was disappointing. 1. We arrived early for our 8pm booking and were greeted by grumpy older gentleman who took us to our table. There were no other diners at this time in the main restraint (7.35pm) but we were taken through the front area of the restaurant and seated on a table for two close to the kitchen in what felt like a private dining area for a large party. 2. Next to us was a table of about 20 people, so we felt like we were gate crashing their dinner. As such, there wasn’t a great atmosphere. It would have been nicer to sit with the other tables for two in the front area. 2. We had a decent Negroni cocktail on arrival, which was well mixed. 3. The New Year’s Eve tasting menu was delicious, with some very creative dishes. We particularly liked the duck and beetroot pithivier, and pork belly appetiser. Full marks to the chef! 4. The wine flights were rather disappointing and unimaginative, and there were only four, which we thought was a bit light for a menu with seven courses plus snacks. A champagne, a Gewürztraminer, a forgettable red, and finally a Montepulciano, which was a bit rough. There is no option here to give a score out of 5 for the wines, but I would say 2/5. 5. Once the table of 20 left (around 10pm) we felt quite isolated in the big room next to the empty table. There was just no atmosphere. 6. From about 10pm onwards the staff were less attentive, even though we had told them (because they asked) that we were not planning to stay until midnight to see in the new year at the restaurant. 7. When we left, we were barely acknowledged by two out of the three staff (the older gentleman and the lady) and briefly by the sommelier. So would we eat here again? Probably not on the basis that Rome has so many other restaurants to enjoy, and we were disappointed. When you book a fine dining experience with a tasting menu, you expect a lot more than decent food, especially on New Year’s Eve when you are paying over €400.

Pessima esperienza, sconsiglio caldamente. Frequentavo il locale nel 2017, ed ogni volta era un’esperienza gustativa piacevolissima. Sono tornato nel 2025 ed è irriconoscibile. Ho ordinato un antipasto e un secondo, ma mi sono alzato e me ne sono andato senza neanche finire l’antipasto. Un gusto amaro indecente. Anche il locale è stato rinnovato, gli interni, e il personale. A quanto pare hanno cambiato gestione, come ha ammesso lo stesso gestore dopo che gli ho fatto questa domanda. Infatti a ben vedere il locale non si chiama più Taverna Angelica ma “Angelica - Taverna contemporanea” (come si può anche vedere dal menù, nonché dalla bio della loro pagina Instagram). Mi chiedo allora se è lecito che usino ancora il buon nome del fu Taverna Angelica (R.I.P.) e delle loro vecchie ottime recensioni.
