Recensioni di Grindstone Coffee & Donuts Sag Harbor
Love the flavor options they had on display. Wish I could've tried them all, but ultimately went with a maple donut and a cappuccino. The donut tasted fresh, and it's definitely a place I would visit again.
I can tell you one thing about this place oh, it was great to walk 2 miles to get there, and order a double cafe latte and a donut. I sat down to do my twittering drank coffee and ate the donut, you take a bite of donut and then a sip of coffee and it all dissolves in your mouth it's true in the American Experience, but it was all of that and everything else especially the music.
The coffee and the donut from Grindstone are delicious! We got the peppermint mocha and honey lavender latte and apple cider donut to pair with the coffee. We ate the donut before remembering to take a picture.😆
The best donuts in my life! Never was a fan of donuts but this is it! Passionfruit & coconut flavor is a must!
Honey lavender matcha blew my mind! So good
Nice coffee. We had the regular brew. Lots of excellent doughnuts, walk across from the Marina. Couple of benches for sitting outside and enjoying the coffee. Take your coffee and walk through the town shops. There's a memorial to the Union soldiers from this area. Lots of great flowers and elegant buildings.
Hi I’m 16, just so you guys know your getting a teen’s input lol. I think I left a review for Grindstone once on a separate account, but I’m doing it again because this place really is amazing! I’m a regular and come in a lot. I usually get a large hot chai and sometimes a cinnamon sugar or Boston cream donut. (I miss the churro donuts they haven’t been around in a while. You guys should bring them back 👀😂) I hate seeing the few negative reviews left by tourists over the summer, because the staff are super nice and honestly if they seem like they’re being rude, consider how much stamina a job in the Hamptons during the summer takes! You only know once you’ve experienced it 🙋♀️Also, I’ve had some really nice conversations with the staff about hair and other things. One time I actually got the wrong drink (it was so loud that they couldn’t hear exactly what I said, not anyone’s fault at all) and they actually sent someone to run over the drink to where I work (provisions) 🥺 it was really sweet. It meant a lot to me because when I realized it was the wrong drink, I have really bad anxiety and I didn’t want them to have to make another especially in the rush of the summer, so I told them it was alright. Yet they took the time out of their day to make the right drink and dropped it off at my workplace for free. It absolutely made my day. Also, their sandwiches are good too! I don’t get them as often, but still are super duper yummy! Anyway, this is a great business. I used to live in NYC and often go there a lot and honestly, I don’t think any coffee shops I’ve been to there can compare. Keep up the great work and don’t let rude customers get you down!! Donut Gem of Sag Harbor 👍🏻
Lots of competition with coffee shops out here... Sag Town use to have the best..however Grindstone might now be King!! Best Hot Chocolate i’ve ever had!!! The donuts will make you go nuts!! Atmosphere is great wish they had a bigger store however the location can’t be beat. A++
Every once in a while, I'll be out in the East Hampton area for work and I always make it a point to stop here. I usually bring home 4 donuts for my fiance and I to split and heat up in the toaster oven for the following 3 days. Their donuts are the best, seriously...the freaking best. If you think you've had the best donuts, but haven't been here yet...you need to make it a point to go to Grindstone, get a churro donut, and then realize you're wrong about your ex-best donut claims.
Nothing bad to say. Shop was small and quaint but service was great. Donuts are amazing and can’t wait to go back when I’m in Sag Harbor again.
Wonderful coffee operation using superbly roasted beans. Cortado was to die for and the same goes for the donuts. The best maple donut I have EVER had… Congrats.
Good coffee and made a proper flat white (which is rare in the USA. Don't @ me, because it's true). A tad on the expensive side but it's Sag Harbor, so I expected it to be pricier than an average coffee shop.
Favorite coffee/donut place ever since I moved here this year, a little on the pricey side but it's very good quality. I love the staff there and just everything there is so delicious. Not to mention the art on the walls!
Was the best glazed donut I've had. I want to go back and try the others. One of my friends said the coffee was great too. They use reusable bamboo straws... Great idea.
UPDATED REVIEW - I have to say I am very glad that I gave this place another shot! Last time I got their matcha latte they were new at making it and it honeslty was not the best. This time around.... WOAH! You can even tell in the pictures I posted with this review how awesome they are! They taste just as good as they look and I was very pleased at the updated recipe/technique in which they make their matcha lattes. No clumps of matcha, not too watery and had it a really genuine flavor! FYI it is not sweetened however so if that's your thing just be sure to add some sugar before you leave. Another cool aspect of this place was that the day that I went a woman was giving tarot card readings in the corner. Definitely stop by here if you are in the area and want to get a great drink while walking around the lovely town of Sag Harbor. Amazing job Grindstone!! FIRST REVIEW I really wanted to like this place, this is the second time that I have been here. I got my favorite drink the green tea matcha latte. While it was beautifully presented, I cannot say that it was good by any means. The drink was extremely watered down and tasted like it only had water in it rather than milk. The taste of the matcha itself was awful and there were many clumps that I kept swallowing which was not pleasant. Maybe the machine they used was not working properly and gave the wrong proportions for the drink? I don't know, all I can say is that it was not good at all.
I ran in here for a quick coffee and a donut. not my favorite choice of donut. but it was good.very cool interior. the iced coffee that I had was really good, great flavor
Grindstone is a must stop in Sag Harbor Village. From their amazing staff to delicious creative donuts and the best coffee in the Hamptons, be sure not to miss it! You won’t be disappointed.
Grindstone is one of my all time favorite doughnut shops. My go to doughnut is the blueberry jam with lemon poppy seed glaze. The coffee drink selection is also excellent with a variety of flavors including a delicious honey cinnamon latte. If you're passing though the Hamptons do not miss this little gem of a shop!
Might be the best donut that I have ever had and I consider myself to be an expert. Don't just get a sweet treat make sure you also pick up one of their delicious coffees.
Great place to stop by if you are walking around Sag Harbor to grab a coffee or even their delicious donuts. The huge flavor selection fro donuts and other items is amazing. I would definitely recommend coming here. It would be nice if i got a napkin though as the frosting got on my hand.
I stand by the register, looking outward, gazing upon a rat terrier attacking locals as they stroll by the front of the shop. The only thing sweeter than the sight of a 30lb dog making a man spill coffee on himself is the delicious donut in my left hand and the honey cinnamon latte in my right. Easily a 9.1
Best coffee & donut spot in Sag Harbor! All staff members are so friendly and provide excellent service whenever I stop in. My go to order is an iced latte with oat milk, but I've ordered many other drinks off their menu and was never disappointed. While my favorites would be either the Maple Sea Salt or a classic Cinnamon Sugar, you can't go wrong with any of their delectable donuts either!
The mini donut is a regular donut and the regular donut should be illegal. They are gigantic and taste incredible. Worth the money. Jelly donut was a bit eh since it was not raspberry but every other donut was a smash hit.
I like Grindstone a lot. When I was drinking coffee, the espresso was fantastic. I would get it with a dash of oat milk or their housemaid almond milk. Dope. I’m a big fan of the donut selection. I walked in there to grab a doughnut a couple of weeks ago and there happen to be a day old donut box, I think it was something like five or six donuts for six dollars in total. Of course, for only a dollar more than the usual cost of one donut I bought the box. Friendly staff. AND they’ve got t shirts and hoodies. Must go…
Sleepy, comfortable, friendly and slightly faster than average service. Love their drinks and the design inside the store. It’s a cross between aesthetic and great coffee. This place is a go to for their donuts (my personal favorite is the lemon poppy) and their sandwiches look heavenly (they use their donuts as the bread)! Gotta try this place at least once, it’s the bomb hip coffee joint in sag harbor. 10/10 would always stop in if I drive out there.
This place is a must for donuts if you are visiting Sag Harbor during the summer! I love their donuts and it is difficult choosing only one as a favorite! I recommend the blueberry jelly and the strawberry glazed! Photos will be posted after my next visit
Great coffee and donuts + friendly service. We always go early in the morning before 8am for an unrushed experience.
I'm from Montreal. I was visiting my niece & her husband & 3 kids. This was the 1st place we went to eat. I ordered mini donuts for everyone. They had coffee (not the kids❣) & I ordered the turmeric tea latte. Best tea ever, wish I could get that recipe 😋 Connie
Actually the best donuts I’ve had in my life. I’ve never tasted anything like the maple donut. And for the jelly donuts, the filling isn’t too sweet. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Absolutely amazing.
Omg ! The egg nog donut was off the charts !! I loved it so much I came back later in the day only to be told It was SOLD OUT ! We also really loved all of the specialty coffee drinks such as peanut butter spicy mocha and my kids loved the hot chocolate and sugar and spice donut holes . This place has the best donuts EVER!!! It’s worth the calorie spurge. Just go for it ! ENJOY 🤍
Working in Sag Harbor for the month & this is a go-to spot for a quick latte (honey lavender is my favorite) & a donut (maple sea salt is my favorite). Lovely staff. Very attentive. It gets very busy so I usually place an online order — skips the line. I recommend reminding them that you placed an online order cause they don’t always have it ready but its fine — it’s worth wait.
Staff are always pleasant 😊 we always get the same drink....honey lavender with oatmilk which is delicious. The donuts are a delight with various combinations and are always freshly made. Pay attention to times during off season. Always a good place for coffee and a treat. Also have breakfast sandwiches.
Grindstone is a great place to start your morning! Started off with a iced beetroot latte, delicious and unique. With that I got the bacon egg and cheese… this sandwich is a must have. High quality delicious take on a BEC sandwich. Overall great spot, and might get a shirt one day. Would recommend to anybody.
I have absolutely no idea what people are talking about when they say these were a disappointment. I've made a point to come to Grindstone everytime I'm out east since they opened. The donuts are the lightest fluffiest donuts I've ever had, whether they're fresh out of the oven (baked in small batches so they're very often fresh) or if I walk in and get one off a sheet that's been there for a bit. The coffee is great too, but this isn't a coffee shop, they serve very high end coffee sure, but their staple is donuts. The coffee's just a bonus. The shop is cool and comfortable with a focus on local art, and a bit of the macabre. Don't miss this place, seriously.
How do I put my love for Grindstone into words? It is hands down one of the best places you will go. Awesome coffee (and delicious and whimsical flavored lattes), super nice and always pleasant staff, and brioche doughnuts. Yeah. Brioche. Get you a fancy doughnut! I’m almost an hour away and it is well worth the drive whenever I have a craving. It is also my go-to spot to bring visitors (doesn’t hurt that it is also in a great location). Super cool atmosphere in the place, too!
This place rules!! Came in a couple of weeks ago and was made the most delicious vegan iced pistachio latte (with pistachio syrup and milk). It was seriously so good I’ve thought about it many times since. Staff is chill and friendly! Good vibe and perfect drinks, highly recommend!!

Great great place in Sag Harbor. During the summertime I always find the time to get here and enjoy these delicious donuts with a cappuccino or ice latte. I love all donuts here, tried almost everything so far but the most fav is the cinnamon sugar one. It’s simple, not too sweet, fluffy, fresh and you can taste it’s a real homemade big donut. The strawberry jelly donuts are also SO SO delicious - it has a lot of jelly inside. Seasonally, they have the blueberry jelly which is also a big yes for me. Their coffees are also delicious and fresh!! Can’t wait to be back here and try other flavors too.
Whether you’re craving a delicious treat, or need a shot of caffeine, Grindstone is THE place to go for both in Sag Harbor. Grindstone has amazing vibes, thanks to the super friendly and welcoming atmosphere that Kyle and his team provide. Try the maple sea salt for a taste of heaven. You’ll be glad you did.
This is our favorite donut place. They make great coffee, it’s really strong so be aware. They have much in tea and everything. The donuts are amazing. If you have time for lunch, grab one of the sandwiches the bread is made of like a brioche and English muffin. It’s a really decadent sandwich.
I remember when this place first opened up, I got a donut I didn’t enjoy, but it seems to have really figured out it’s recipes! Came with family and though there was a line and it was a Sunday, staff was working really fast to get everyone’s orders in and they were also really nice. The maple latte and espresso were very good, I appreciated that the iced drinks come in the paper cup instead of plastic. We got a variety of donuts, all of them were excellent so I don’t think you can go wrong here. The lemon poppy was our favorite, but the churro and the Boston creme were outstanding, I highly recommend the churro donut if you want to try something new. Being on Main Street, it’s on the pricier side, but that’s a given in the area. We will definitely make this part of our regular rotation!
My friend show me this adorable coffee shop. I don’t eat but this store made insane donuts! I bring this box today morning to New York, now empty.. My absolutely favorite the blueberry donut here! My family love all flavors. They have Nutella s’mores , churros ,coconut and so many donuts … They use great ingredients, Believe me this donuts not like any others!
Coffee and donuts in Saag Harbor. Need a quick pick me up? Craving a sweet snack and a cup of joe? Look no further. This cool funny spot has good service and lots of tasty options. If you're in town, stop by. I did not try the breakfast sandwich (as I'd already had breakfast) but they looked amazing. Great art on the wall too.
Best donuts in town! And good breakfast sandwiches to boot. A variety of donut flavors available to satisfy everyone's palette
Coffee was good ($3 for a 12-oz cup, which, while over my price range, was better than I expected for the location. I bought a couple of donuts ($4 each) and they looked terrific (I actually had brought a sandwich with me to eat while I did my laundry across the street). Service was quick and smart. My only issue was that it was packed, no-one was wearing a mask and the door was closed (on a lovely morning). Not the best idea during a pandemic, even if it has waned and most people are vaccinated. They need to do a better job with this.
It's got good drinks, and good donuts, depending on which one you order. In my opinion, the best donuts here are cinnamon sugar, and glazed. While they offer a lot of other donut flavors, the icing seems to have a very strong citrus flavor. While this is ok with their lemon donuts, i'm not a huge fan of how strong the flavor is in iced vanilla or strawberry donuts.
Atmosphere is very calm and good And food also very good
Perfect spot to grab a donut and coffee to walk around sag harbor. Their donuts are on the larger side (not complaining). They’re unbelievable when fresh and delicious if boxed and eaten at home. Also home to some great coffee My go-to is their glazed (slightly citrusy?) or lemon poppy and an iced americano.
Staff were friendly. Went in the afternoon on a Friday and they still had a full selection. $5 a donut is probably acceptable for the location. The strawberry glazed had a deliciously-lemony tang to it. But it was strong enough that I would honestly call it a Strawberry Lemon donut to not surprise you. Jelly donut was very well stuffed; prepare for that. A short step up from Dunkin’ in aesthetics and flavor.
Not all that impressed. Donuts are good, but nothing special, and also quite expensive at $3 each. Coffee is very good, but again- at $2.50 for a medium size, surely you can find good coffee elsewhere for less.
Had to go to Wading River on the north fork, figured let's cut across and stop by, who knows when we'll be heading out that way again. Donuts were amazing, but the young lady behind the counter needs some serious customer service skills. Gave her our order, she walked away, and came back 5 minutes later and asked for our order again. In the process of paying, she starts helping the customer behind us, and just ignores us for the next 10 minutes while she's making coffee drinks. Tempted to ask her to void the order so I could take off the tip, but we let it go, and finally on our way. Mind you, it was not crowded, just us and the couple behind us, at 2 in the afternoon. The donuts lived up to the hype, but I won't be a repeat customer. If I'm handing over my hard earned money, I expect to be treated just a bit better.
Follow up: After receiving the response from the owner of Grindstone to my review below, I need to clarify that our visit was on Tuesday, June 26th and we were the only customers in the shop which couldn't have been "the singe busiest day of the year". I agree taste is definitely subjective. I suppose quality for price could also be subjective. I live in Westchester County which is just as expensive as Sag Harbor and I have certain quality and service expectations that simply weren't met. I also agree that everyone deserves a second chance so if we are ever in Sag Harbor again we will stop in again. Thank you for your response to my review. Wow, really disappointed. I was told they had the best donuts I would ever eat in my life. I really should have managed my expectations better. Really expensive and my classic donut was just plain inedible. My daughter and her friend, 10 and 11 years old, were unimpressed as well. The place was clean, we felt like we were interrupting the day of the people who worked there. I guess I have to remember I was in Sag Harbor but I feel like that shouldn't be an excuse.
Out of the few times im back in sag and stop here, the donuts were never really that fresh. Always look better on the eyes than they taste. Super expensive too.
I always want to like Grindstone because it has so much potential. The overall design of the place itself is so nice and they have a great location. I personally just don’t think the doughnuts are very good. They are dry and lacking in flavor.
Doughnuts great. Service lousy as always. Employees act as if they know the owner isn’t present and have no sense of urgency. No air conditioning so don’t know how they pass inspection.
I did not like it here. A lot of people seem to like it but I kind of hated it. I came with my dad, my friend and my son one Saturday while we were touring the Hamptons. I have a book called 111 things in the hamptons you must not miss and to me this shop was not worth the book recommendation inside the book. I wasn't impressed with my donut, the jelly was not that great, kind of pasty. My coffee was terrible, so weak I felt like I was just drinking some coffee in my milk. So I didn't like this place at all, unfortunately.
Never been there, but heard so much about it. Went at about 2pm, they close at 3. Place has a cool coffee place vibe. Something about the girl at the register read attitude to me, but whatevs. I ordered a mini glaze and a hot apple cider. Prices were stupid high. I paid $10 for just that. The cider hit the spot, comforting and warm. The donut, which they are apparently known for was not good. It was so dry. I took one bite and threw it out. Not sure I’ll be back. Sorry!
As a Sag Harbor resident, it has been a fun ride with Grindstone, but that seems to be coming to an end. The stores popularity makes it a off season /mid week only treat, however that isn't the issue. The issue is the quality of the product. Even at $5 a donut, something has changed with the quality of the donut. The whole family (ok, the two kids and dad..) tasted it immediately. Did Sysco cause a change in suppliers,? Who knows, but it's definitely different, and not for the better.
We were very excited to try the donuts and got a dozen to try a bit of everything. It sucks to say it was disappointing. The icing on the donuts was great however the dough itself was bland, even the chocolate one. There was no flavor to the dough that even the icing wasn't enough to carry it through. I was especially excited to try the lemon poppy but other than the icing which was delicious the rest was flat. I was hoping for the flavors to carry our throughout the donuts with poppy and lemon in it. So if your looking for no sugar tasting donuts then great but for the price of each to have just the icing having flavor it was a let down.
I have no idea why this place is rated so high, we went on Sunday morning and the donuts were extremely dry and tasted old. The coffee was some of the worst I’ve ever tasted. Skip!
I'm from Chicago, so I know a good donut. This place is very overpriced and tasteless. The Baristas are very snotty. But, you don't have to go to see where they get their attitude. Just look how the owner answers his negative reviews.. In response to the owner, you are not from Chicago. You only got your business cause your stepfather michael symon
Donuts are overpriced. We were the only customers to say please and thank you and not cut the line and the staff was beyond rude acting like they were doing us a favor by helping us. They all looked bored and unhappy to be there. Welcome to the Hamptons. #Hooplah
Traveled from Manorville to see what all the hype was about. Honestly, I was very dissappointed in the taste and texture of the doughnuts I purchased. Besides the high price, they were dry, and tasteless. Lovely area, but, wont be going to Grindstone again.
A great coffee machine in the hands of people that don't know how to use it. Terrible coffee. Donuts were meh. Skip it
I have no issue paying $6 for an iced black coffee... but it better be awesome. Nope... You can tell it had sat over night and was soured. The doughnuts looked amazing but in my experience the fancier a doughnut looks the more disappointed i am in the taste. Sorry I'm a purist when it comes to that... Probably not going to try this place again b/c there are so many cute places to grab a café.... and the 4 rude baristas should probably note that... as their attitude can affect business & tip.
Lines are extremely long, what doesn't help is the young barista girl constantly chatting about her private life with her coworker. Then they don't provide pre-orders for pickup. Don't recommend. Go to Jack's Coffee instead, it's just up the road and the baristas are more customer-oriented.
