Every dish was full of flavor I ordered the Hamageddon. Which is two poached eggs a drizzle of hollandaise on english muffin with onion cream cheese and a side of potatoes. The cream cheese really pushed this dish forward! The mini pancakes were delicious, I believe they were sourdough and I really enjoyed that the powdered sugar was lightly done. Every dish was very delicious, the music was enjoyable and at a decent sound level that allowed conversation. The overall atmosphere reminded me of an ASMR cafe. The server was nice and evenly attentive. They informed when the food would be a little longer wait do to cook having just receiving a big order. The drinks were taste. Would recommend and everyone in my party enjoyed their meals.
Went for a quick brunch before my hunnybunny's court appointment. Got a Banana Rama iced coffee- delicious!! I got a Vietnamese one- wonderful. Ww both got the French Toast--yalllll!!! My mom is lucky she wasn't there!! I would slapped her so hard she woulda ended up in the San Antonio River!!! Visiting SA-Visit Halcyon... ask about the S'mores!!!
Rosie is THEE BEST! Excellent service for my son and I when we came in, fast service, didn’t have to ask for my sons food to be cut, or a to go box, etc she just knew & was ON IT! This was my first time dining in and I’ll be back way more often with the staff yall have now, shoutout to the hostess julienne at the front too!🩷🩷🩷 perfect place for a mommy & me date :)
Perfect place to meet friends or do a little work. I go all the time but I finally tried their breakfast burrito and it was super delicious. It was huge and very filling with tasty salsa on the side. My pumpkin latte was so good and the service was friendly as always. I also love that everyone is welcome here.
If you’re looking for a place that combines coffee, brunch, a bar, and a unique atmosphere in San Antonio, Halcyon Southtown is an absolute gem. Located within the Blue Star Arts Complex in the historic Southtown district, this spot offers much more than just a drink or a meal—it’s a cultural and culinary experience. History & Context: Halcyon opened its doors in 2013, occupying a space that was part of an industrial complex transformed into a hub for art, galleries, and dining. The name “Halcyon” means a calm and happy period, perfectly reflecting its concept: a place where you can relax, work, socialize, or simply enjoy a quality coffee while soaking in the artistic design of the space. Halcyon is part of the revitalization of Southtown, a neighborhood with 19th-century historic architecture that has gone through decades of change and is now a gathering point for artists, locals, and tourists. Atmosphere & Experience: The venue is spacious, with comfortable lounge areas, natural lighting, a terrace, and access to the walkable Riverwalk trail. The vibe changes throughout the day: in the morning, it’s a quiet coffee spot for work or reading; brunch time brings families and friends; and at night, it transforms into a bar with creative cocktails and live music. Food & Drinks: The menu is versatile: artisanal coffee, waffles, sandwiches, vegetarian/vegan options, and a wide selection of cocktails and alcoholic beverages. The quality of the coffee and food is consistent, though it may take a little longer during peak hours. The service is friendly and attentive—staff guide you through the menu and provide excellent recommendations. Fun Facts: • Halcyon shares the complex with Stella Public House, allowing you to go from morning coffee to artisanal pizza and beer in the evening without leaving the building. • The Blue Star Arts Complex was originally an industrial warehouse space transformed into a cultural, artistic, and culinary destination, redefining the neighborhood. • Southtown is known for its murals, galleries, and historic architecture; Halcyon is one of the businesses that helped drive the area’s revitalization. • It’s ideal for a variety of visitors: students working on laptops, families enjoying brunch, groups of friends in the afternoon, and couples having cocktails at night. What I Love: Every visit to Halcyon feels different, but always leaves a positive impression. You can start with morning coffee and spend hours exploring art, enjoying delicious food, and ending the night with a cocktail on the terrace. The passion behind creating a space that works for everyone is evident. Tips for Visiting: • Arrive early if you want a quiet table; weekends can get very busy. • Ask staff for recommendations—they know the best dishes and drinks of the day. • Perfect for those who enjoy combining gastronomy with culture and art.
I want to give MAJOR shout-out to Cassie. She is literally such an amazing and intelligent bartender. She was so sweet and made me feel very welcome. I honestly had a very rough day, & had a doctors appointment earlier which didn’t have good news haha. Anyways! She was so kind, so nice, and was so so sweet, made me feel so much better. And made me feel less awkward and out of place. ALSO! Not to mention, holy hell!! This woman knows her drinks! She is so good at whipping up an excellent cocktail. A friend of mine surprised me and swung by, and we both had drinks made by Cassie and let her do her thing, and they were delightful and tasty drinks. What I’m saying is, Cassie is awesome, I honestly would go back just for her. She’s so sweet and kind and made me want to keep going back because it felt like I was talking to a friend when speaking to her. She’s very lovely. I hope the owners and management truly know what a special and FANTASTIC bartender they’re working with, as well as acknowledging her talent and kindness. I used to frequently go here when I was like 19 and early 20s, because it was one of the few places with vegetarian options and a nice “vibe”. But I stopped going because about 2 years ago, when I came back, it wasn’t nice and felt off, didn’t feel inviting, etc. I stayed to work on a cocktail menu, and study. But it just felt off. But WOW! I will be coming back now because Cassie was so kind and not to mention a lot of the employees seemed very sweet and there was another employee with really cool makeup and style, they had a cool style, I don’t know how else to describe it other than they seemed liked an alien, but I love aliens. I didn’t catch their name. But Cassie!! she’s awesome! Request her as a bartender, if you can. She’s amazing. I wanna go back just to have her as my bartender. She’s sweet, personal able, and experienced. An absolutely delightful and lovely woman :) <3
Stayed nearby at an Airbnb and this place was super close. Coffee was the best coffee I had in SA $3 bucks with refills. Staff are friendly and fun service fast. Lots of ppl on their laptops so it felt like a local Starbucks with better food and drink options. Good music and LQGBTQ+ friendly 💚near the river walk path
I never had the food, but the person who brought me here recommended the nuts. So I just put 5 stars. The coffee is good tho. The place is decent. Calm atmosphere. WiFi. A smoking spot. The usual for a coffee shop. Edit: Ok, I've had the food now. It's good. I'd buy it. Also, the atmosphere is at 3 stars because it depends on the crowd and the music type changes. It's completely subjective. Honestly, for some and even myself it's a 5 some days. Others it's a 1. So I put it in the middle the best I could. Edit #2: I was asked for an update by Google. It's still the same place. Great food, great drinks, and the atmosphere is ever-changing. Which is not necessarily a bad thing because it means that you never know what to expect. For example I had no idea a festival was happening in the area when I went today. Haha 😅
Food is different but delicious. The wait service was super nice. She made every effort to accommodate me. I unknowingly ordered a dish that had pork product, she made me the same dish this time omitting the pork product with a fancy Italian name and added a few of my suggestions at no charge and left the other one for my friends to enjoy at no extra charge.
Nice spot for after dinner hangout. They have a full bar here. Order to your hearts content. My cappuccino was fantastic. Love the ambience. Funky and country all in one. Lots of places to sit and chat including outdoor. Great for studying with friends or get together. Definitely a must visit. Service was excellent. Plenty of private parking. A must visit in San Antonio. Cheers!
really good food. I love their reverse happy hour & how filling it is. a great chill vibe for any time of the day studying

My best guy friend and I spent nearly six hours walking all over downtown and made sure to stop by Halcyon for a warm latte on a cold day. Such a beautiful, edgy-cool area with wonderful service.
I love this place they have a killer cinnamon roll and baked goods! Coffees outstanding, music's always on point, staff is friendly, and have really great hours for any late night sweet treats!

The avocado toast was great, and so was the hazelnut latte. The atmosphere is really nice and the service was great too. It's a perfect place to work or study, I was there for about 6 hours.
Repeat customer. Stopped in for a beverage to kill time in between appointments. Luckily my visit was on Monday - happy hour all day. I recommend.

Halcyon Southtown is a nice spot to grab a coffee and hang out. The coffee has good flavor, not super extraordinary, but definitely enjoyable. I noticed a lot of people working or studying there, and the atmosphere feels relaxed and comfortable. It’s a solid place if you’re looking for a chill environment to get some work done or just unwind for a bit.
Came here on a Thursday for a late lunch. Not busy at all and the staff were super friendly. I got the Big Cheesy with pepper jack and chipotle ranch while my friend got the Chicken Wrap. Both were super good and portioned perfectly. For drinks I got the Blueberry Hibiscus and my friend got a Cinnamon Chai Latte. The Hibiscus doesn’t come sweetened so unless you prefer a lighter flavor with no sweetened I recommend getting it with a simple syrup! Overall super good and definitely recommend
Cool place in a cool, out of the way location. Get away from the tourist part of SA and enjoy a local’s neighborhood. This Halcyon location is in the Blue Star Arts District. We rarely travel by car, so we walked the Riverwalk all the way to this Arts District and had a late breakfast. Since I have a major sweet tooth, I had the bread pudding French Toast. As we say in our circle of friends, Oh My God, Becky! That was good. My husband had the avocado toast and loved it. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The only disappointment was we were there too early in the day for cocktails. As a hobby mixologist, I would have LOVED to try some of their cocktails. They sounded amazing. Maybe while we’re in Austin I’ll be able to get a drink. Drive, walk, or run to Halcyon. It’s worth the trip. And the other local outlets here looked equally good.
Cool bar/coffee shop with lots of seating for people who do work or study there. Neat vibe on the inside. Great for happy hour in the evening or coffee in the morning. They do little snacks during the day and a weekend brunch. Big windows with natural light, a place to sit outside. Dogs are welcome on their patio
We went midweek late evening and ended up sitting outside after ordering food. food was okay. Feel like it was one of those places that I would just visit once.

The people are nice and the atmosphere is pleasant in that new-hipster-warehouse vibe kinda way. I didn't try the coffee, but I hear that it is delightful. The chicken sandwich was almost edible! It is about 1/3 the size of the bun. The edges are really good, but the center of the chicken was very rubbery and difficult to chew. The fries were cooked well but way over salted (and I like a lot of salt). If you're there and hungry give it a shot - just some expect to much!
We stopped here during a visit to San Antonio. We decided to have breakfast and try their Saugege, Biscuits and Gravy. Having had biscuits and gravy thought out the US, we can say with all honesty this is truly the worst biscuits and gravy we've ever had. The texture was grainy and griddle and the taste wasn't pleasant. The coffee and orange juice was good. We enjoyed the atmosphere, however the place could use a good cleaning and the staff was slow to clean tables after previous customers.
I wanted a good breakfast spot and Google led me here. For a party of one, it was going to be a 45 minutes wait. I waited and the hostess said I could sit in the back and order food. So, I did that. I sat down and no one helped me. After about 10 minutes, I flagged down a waitress and she said I had to order at the To Go stand and then take it to the back to eat where I sat. There was no table service in the back. There was some confusion there. The food was super quick. I ordered the Chicken and waffles. It was very good. The bacon was floppy and no crispy (I like it crispy). I also ordered a Thai Iced Coffee. It was good because it wasn't sweet until the end. I will give this place another shot. I rated it three stars because the service and hostess were not on the same page.
Good coffee... a bit on the strong side. Definitely overpriced. Cute decor. Location to the Riverwalk is excellent.

Nice vibe but overpriced for the size of drink. I've never seen such a small old fashion.

To be fair - this was a Favor delivery. However, the breakfast skillets were missing sides, the restaurant didn’t include a coffee we ordered, and the bacon in the skillet was raw.

I was in line and skipped me to help others behind me. Then when they decided to help me they said it was reserved only. I come here every Saturday morning after my bike run. First time getting treated like this. Only good thing to say is their expresso martinis are awesome!
