The fried fish here is AWESOME. I had ordered the admiral to try and sample everything since this was my first visit and was blown away by the amount of food I was served. So definitely bring your hunger if you order that plate. So on to the fried fish; very tasty, and the crispiness and the way it falls apart is makes your mouth water before every bite. The shrimp was the same, the crab cake was the same, the fries were the same. Basically everything is great here. Expect a wait in the drive through but don't let that discourage you from eating here!
Never been there before but it was a good experience you just have to order before you go sit down other than that great service great food not that expensive
I had to come back twice this week. The staff is amazing! They care to make every order and customer experience that is had there pleasurable. The food is incredibly fresh, and they have a sauce bar to satisfy my spicy pallete. :) I will be back soon.
This J Anthony's is always good and clean! We like to go on Sundays after church and the food and service are great! The manager is bar none one of the best I have encountered at a restaurant. He is always checking on customers and makes sure his employees are as well. He does this without degrading them or yelling which brings me comfort since many of them are high school students or in their early 20's! Here's a tip... If you are going with a group of 3 or more, get one of the family meals! It's a better option price wise and quantity.
We found our new"fish place"! Came on Good Friday, our salmon (which I was really looking forward to) was missing when we picked up our order. The manager Eleazar apologized and fixed our order for our next visit. (Place was BUSY and we understood) Helen took our order and she could not have been friendler! She, the manager on duty AND Mia made our visit a very amazing one! They came by every customer's table (including ours) several times to make sure everything was okay. We will DEFINITELY return. SUPER-DUPER FRIENDLY STAFF WITH A VERY CHEERY DISPOSITION!! Our food was DELICIOUS... Better than Long*** Steakhouse. JANE & TONY JUAREZ
The manager and the workers were extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the fish plate and it was delicious. The fish was fried to perfection in the cajun rice was amazing. The homemade salsa is really spicy it’s a must try. Restaurant was nice and clean.
Group meeting, very helpful and happy. Great food and we plan to visit again. Even though is in the other side of town. Price and food too good not to make the drive.
Excellent food and the experience is remansent to true family dinning. Fish is served up right and fried to perfection, with the best mac and cheese in town!
The fish and shrimp were amazing!!! First time going and can't wait to go back. Prices are reasonable and it was very clean.
The staff here are such sweethearts. Now they might mess up my order 2 out of every 5 orders….but they will gladly fix it and apologize profusely. And since I’m the Queen of modifications, I really don’t hold it against them. So let me just say thank you for catering to my extra self and making the best ceviche on this side of town.
The food's always great and so is the service. I've been ordering take out week after week after week and it's always the same great results. The establishment is clean, the staff are attentive and caring and it's always a great experience for me.
They greet you as soon as we came in. I liked that. My order took just a bit longer. They came to tell me they were still working on it. That was good. You get bread with my order . I asked if they could toast and butter it. They did it with . came to check if we were doing ok. Or if there was any else they could get for us. Yes we well be going back. Any tell other how wonderful they treated us. We very much enjoyed the food.
BEST customer service everrrrrrrr ! Thanks Priscilla ! 🙏🏻
Oh my gosh for some off the chain fish and shrimp tacos. SO INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!! Oh my mamma loved the fish soup the vegetables are incredible. This is our new place for fish.
Food was so good and the girl in the front Ariel was helpful with supplying me with napkins ketchup and tartar sauce making sure I had everything I needed
Ordered the 9 piece fish platter. It came with 4 slices of bread and a big cup of tartar sauce and battered fries. They didn't hesitate on adding a few more slices of bread. The food was so fresh and way more than enough to go around. Great experience. And the dessert slices of chocolate and strawberry cake were delicious. Very reasonable prices. We'll definitely be coming back. 😋
From the moment we walked in it was wonderful experience. From Ethan our cashier to Greg the bus boy and not to mention when I asked for the manager so I could praise her staff she was the sweetest. Selena has such wonderful personality as do her staff. The food was amazing which made our experience even more amazing!
Wasn't sure what I was hungry for that day so I decided fish would probably be the best healthy option. I came in and ordered the 3 piece fish with Mac and cheese, green beans and a small drink. It definitely hit the spot and filled me up good.
My first time here. I ordered the most expensive size meal on the menu. The Admirals Platter. Only $19.95. They warned me that I would notbe able to finish it. They were correct. The Seafood Caldo with a healthy portion of rice was delicious. Spiced just right for me. That left 3 nice sized pieces of fish, 3 huge breaded oysters, 3 jumbo shrimp and a great crabcake. Add to that a side of green beans and some very tasty cole slaw. I was busting at the seams and still took enough home for a big meal. It was GREAT! I'm used to getting small portions of seafood and a mountain of French fries. Not here. Just the good stuff. I cannot believe it took me so long to try this place out. I guarantee you, it's the most satisfied I have ever been, when visiting a seafood restaurant. It puts Pappadeauxs and Landrys to shame. They would have charged double and loaded you down with fries. J Anthony's will see me a lot from now on.
Grilled Salmon to go. I was pleasantly surprised how well the fish was cooked. Fork tender, a bit flakey but not dried out. I tried a bite with the tartar sauce and it paired nicely
Went to j anthony’s today for lunch and had the best salmon made by Josiah
The service in the place is good and the staff are friendly. They do talk in a group and just stay in the back a lot, but I get that since it wasn't busy at all. The food was pretty good. We ordered the catfish and shrimp plate and a 2 piece fish and both me and my grandparents were greatly satisfied with the overall experience! Will be coming back!
Came in on Friday and the food was DELICIOUS! Josiah took my order and was very helpful and polite when I was struggling with what to order. GREAT service!
Food is always hot and delicious. Fast service. We would like to have one in our side of town. Northeast area.
The service and food were fantastic! The service was fast, friendly and continued until the end. The fried shrimp were some of the best I've had in a long time. They tasted fresh and the breading was flavorful and crunchy. The rice dressing had just the right amount of heat and was fluffy and flavorful. The corn was not too soft or firm, just right. It was cooked with onions, bell peppers and other b seasonings. I will definitely be back!
I came to have dinner with my family and it was good food! I had never been here but always heard it was good. I got the shrimp quesadillas and shrimp cocktail. Quesadillas were a little bit greasy but sooo good, I just used a lot of napkins to remove some of the grease. The cocktail was really good after I put salt and pepper on the shrimp with a little bit of lemon juice. I tried the strawberry and chocolate cakes and chocolate was really rich and moist and great flavor, wasn’t a fan of the strawberry one. They gave me a sample of the shrimp soup and it was good!!!! Just a little too spicy for me. The shrimp were high quality for sure and the pink lemonade was awesome but I think I got diabetes from it because it was sooo sweet lol but tasted amazing! My family loved everything they ordered and it was a chill place with nice people working there. Definitely coming back!
Fish 🐟🐟🐟 is still one of the best in town. The rice is so good and fluffy. The fish caldo is WOW.
Their caldo con pescado is fabulous! It is FULL of fish and favorably fresh. Having tea and Pepsi Zero as available beverages is a great idea! There is a gentleman who comes out to bus the tables and asks if we want more chalupa shells or bread and asks how everything is/was. He is a mature man and could easily be the manager or owner in disguise because of his friendliness and desire to make sure all was well with us! Their grilled fish and shrimp were also delightful!
Family 12 piece fish with 4 drinks and 2 sides the mashed potatoes tast like they scooped them from a swamp no matter how many times I've given it a chance they suck so I'm done stick to the fries lol

Great food at great prices. The serving sizes are bigger than at most other places I've tried. It is definitely my go to place for good seafood at good prices.

J. Anthony's catfish plate was pretty tasty. I had French fries that were just ordinary, and coleslaw that was great. Service was great. My order was to go, and the man carried it over to me and opened the door for me when I left as their door is very hard to open. I guess it's so heavy. I saw they had the Mexican bread pudding, Capirotada, so I had to get some, but that was very disappointing. It had, I guess, a little coconut , sprinkled on it instead of cheese, and it was too watery. But all in all, it wasn't too bad. I would prefer my own fish fry, but too much trouble for just me. I would recommend the place.
The paintings are very well done I just wanted to say. Food is good customer service is good. Don't try the Strawberry cake it looks good but it's not. Good location.
Courteous and welcoming staff. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food that you get for the price. This is comfort seafood, to coin a phrase. Nothing fancy here but solid, basic seafood dishes at a reasonable price. I had the San Antonio platter which offers two fish fillets, two chicken strips, two large prawn, and your choice of sides. About the only misstep was the weird addition of two slices of what appear to be Wonder bread. Other than that, I thought it was solid fare. At a time when it seems that medium to lower cost seafood places are a rarity, it was nice to find this place as a newcomer to the area.
Its good food at a decent price point. We always return for those two reasons and also because it is close enough to work. Fried fish, fried shrimp, jalapeño hush puppies and french fries are always good. Friends say their rice is really good too I have never had it so cannot say.
Had the Shrimp Quesadillas ..with 1 side . They were great ! Definitely be back
Customer service at this location has been decent for the most part, I've been visiting this location since they first opened. Compared to other J Anthony's locations this one is a bit nicer. Orders by phone and in the restaurant have been accurate for the most part, only experiencing small problems which they corrected immediately, sometimes over compensating for the mistake. Food preparation has been consistently good. I would recommend this location to anyone who likes seafood. Wait time for food can sometimes be a little long, I would suggest calling in your order if ordering to go on a weekend. One of my favorite seafood restaurants in San Antonio.
One may not think so but the food is delicious. I had the Admirals platter all lightly battered, the generous portions, the yummy fish soup, even the tarter and red sauce were great. Real tea and the lemons were fresh. Reminded me of real fish from days gone by. Not my only visit.
UPDATE: I went and purchased fish for the family today July 7, 23. I ordered a 9 pc, onion rings. And extra fries. No bueno. This is just a fish shaped fish stick. Sorry you just lost a customer. Certainly not worth $40 The food is always good and tastes fresh. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Chill open atmosphere. I have had the San Antonio plater twice, and both times were delicious. Have had great service, portions are generous, the only thing I'd say is the rice is a tad bit salty, if not for that would have given 4 stars for food.
Got the 12 pc family with qt of coleslaw. Ready at designated time. Wouldn’t use drive thru to pick up as wait times dependent upon previous customer order. Easier to pick up at counter. Fish/ family fries were still crispy. Satisfied with purchase.
Food was really good. Service could have been a little better but overall a great place to eat. Well worth the money.
Good food. Great customer service. 🐟 🐟 🐟 😃
Went there with my daughter and son-in-law and grandkids everybody's food was really good. From the fried fish The chicken strips there French fries fried mushrooms for all really good. They get four stars for their service because where we sat , we had to ask for the table to be wiped down and I don't understand why the cashiers have a tip jar they are not doing anything extra but their job anyway the atmosphere gets a four-star because it reminds me of Bill Miller's Serve Yourself drinks get your own condiments stuff like that overall a good casual place to eat for family and friends
Good food, speedy service, dessert could have been better, but overall would recommend
Man I love the food here it tases so good the jumbo fish sandwich is so good but they take to long to bring it out to your table there only two of us there and it took almost 35 min to get our food. Need to improve on quickness.
Food was good. Fish and shrimp cooked properly and not greasy. Servings big. Coleslaw tasty. Onion rings good. Hush puppies too spicy and French fries had seasoned salt which I do not like. Tartar sauce great but cocktail sauce tasted like tomato sauce. Staff very welcoming and friendly.
Had lunch here on 04/16/18. Nice little seafaring-schemed eatery with good food at a very reasonable price. Not a fancy place at all...walk in the door, go to the counter, place your order & pay. Take a seat and wait for your food. Items on the [posted] menu are very affordable. We had a very nice male employee (not a waiter) who refilled our drinks and kept our table tidy. Gave him a $5 tip for his friendliness & attentiveness. This little restaurant is a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of busier thoroughfares, making it even more appealing. The exterior of the building (blue & white) appears clean and well-maintained. the interior of the business shows wear and tear, but when the food is cheap and tastes good, and the overall experience is good too, it merits at least the 4 ★★★★ stars I'm giving it in this review.
J ANTHONY'S is always consistent. Good food. This is my go to fish place.
We ordered the family meal through the drive thru on a Friday. When we got home the fish & shrimp didn’t taste good like it usually does. It was our first time back in a long time. I called to speak with the manager and let her know the fish and shrimp tasted very oily and the breading was a little dark and brittle. The manager offered to correct the problem for the next time we went back. I wasn’t planning to go back, but I did. She kept her word and corrected everything. The fish & shrimp tasted a lot better! Thanks!
Lot's of food for the money. I ordered the Admiral's Plate. Clean place and nice staff. There is a condiment station that has all the good stuff like a tarter sauce pump, peppers, sliced lemons and lime, salsa. You place your order at the counter and then look for a place to sit. Nice atmosphere. Good parking. The fried portion was hot. My rice was barely warm. When I got through eating, I put my left overs in a container and it looked like I didn't even touch it. Check out my photo of the to go box.

The fish, oysters & shrimp dinner\nWasn't very good. Soggy! Got a to go order with a salad and they put the salad in with the hot food. \nMade the salad warm and nasty.. \ndon't waste your money..

Been to this location and the one off Old Pearsall, food is great, better than Red and prices are comparable $-$$, we go every time we're in the neighborhood.
I purchased the baked fish with green beans and stewed veggies. I don't mind a little spicy, but everything was spicy so my taste buds were over fired. Lol I think they need some variation. Perhaps not making the green beans and soup spicy.😊
I am not a fan of seafood, but I went with a friend. I saw on their menu they have other food like chicken fried steak, burgers, grilled chicken. I ordered the chicken fried steak, it came with 2 sides. It took a little longer than usual to get my food (probably not used to people not ordering seafood). When I got it, the steak was rather large (good, right?) and came with the gravy in a separate bowl. The top looked dry, but when I cut into it, it looked juicy. Turns out the "juice" was the oil they cooked it in. The steak itself was pretty thin and didn't have a lot of flavor in it. So would I go back again? Maybe. I would have to see how their burgers taste to get a locked down answer.
Got the Admiral Platter. Didn't have the crab cake, gave me the Fiesta shrimp. Good. But I'd have preferred the crab cake, especially if the shrimp was that good. The soup was alright, the hush puppies were dry but tasty... fresh i am sire they're amazing. The fried fish fell apart, tasty, needed more lemon for 3 pieces. The oysters. Omgoodness, the oysters. I'd go back just to eat their oysters again. Now I know what I really liked there and can get the right plate for me. Way better than the Las Palmas location I've known of for decades. That one is just in an unsafe location and the food is awful at that one. Little dude at the window was amazing. Doing his best. Very respectable, polite. Will be going back this weekend. Gonna adjust stars if I'm again impressed. The soup minus 1 star, the crab cake being sold out 1 star. Ask for more sauces. That huge plate only had 1 piece of lemon, 1 cocktail and 1 tartar sauce. Maybe for a smaller plate, but the Admiral should have double the sauces. Coleslaw was good, missing something though.
Food took too long to come to the table. Some of it was cold by the time we ate. Most everything on the menu is fried. Green beans tasted like they were soaked in hot sauce. On the positive side, the people were very personable and pleasant.
Nice little spot, staff was helpful, they get busy so a little patience is greatly appreciated. Its fried fish you can't really mess it up and other items were tasty.
I would make this a regular place to visit mainly because their food is really good hot and fresh. However, I moved a distance out and haven't in a while. Picked up food to go this past week, customer service REALLY WENT OUT THE WINDOW HERE. The drive thru attendant was rude and I felt rushed. I felt that asking for extra tarter sauce was a huge problem for her, then I asked for a gallon of tea... and again rude and , No thank you. Food was still very good as usual.
Fish sandwich here is great! I order the fish sandwich with just cheese and mayo and it was delicious...the fries wasn't great at all, and the jalapeno hush puppies were mediocre. Customer service thru drive thru was most excellent
First time stopping off here to get food to go. I didn't much care for it. I ordered the 1 piece of fish and 10 shrimp with fries and rice and an order of fried mushrooms. Was rather pricey for the plate. Doubt I'll go back. The fries were soft and mushy and even though I waited in line nearly 15 minutes, they were cold. The mushrooms were piping hot though, and tasty enough that I burnt my tongue. But still still in all, wasn't impressed and will spend my hard earned cash elsewhere.
This was my first dining experience at J Anthony's with my kids and I was disappointed. I ordered the San Antonio plate it came with shrimp, fish and chicken tenders. The shrimp tasted like dish water, the fish had no seasoning or flavor, the chicken tenders were good. My daughter got the nuggets with fries and that was pretty good. We had mash potatoes and a side salad that was ok. I also ordered calamari but the breading was salty.
Food for my other two guests came out hot and quickly. My appetizer never came till after everyone ate their food. They forgot about it. And i got fried mushrooms as the appetizers not good at all they were burnt and really greasy. I wont be coming back. Fish wasn't worth coming here. 3 stars was being polite.
Went here for lunch. Lunch special comes with a drink and two sides. Some of the sides offered were french fries, Cole slaw, green beans, corn. Had the fish lunch special with french fries and Cole slaw. It was ok. The fish good, just not like "wow this is a good piece of fish" I wouldn't recommend getting the French fries, they were not that tasty. The cole slaw was good. I thought it could have been a bit sweeter, but it was still good.
Came with the family. First ti.e here. Ordered fish Plat. Rice was okay and the fish was a little dry, but okay too. I mean they served good size fish. The Mac was good, too. Free refills and the food came out in good time. The parking was plenty, lobby was clean, the rest rooms were, too. Want to come back and try the country fried streak. Nice place. Worth the money. I give this a 👍. 😀
Food is good. ,but for the price to jump up $11 dollars more in just a year isn't worth it.
We ordered there a few times but will not get the shrimp . Under cooked and very grimy texture. A real fish after taste. The regular fish was good n cook perfectly.
Stopped by the restaurant today as I was looking for a fish/seafood place in the area. I ordered the whole fried Mojarra with fries and coleslaw. Let me start with the service. Kudos to the cashier…
Ordered shrimp tacos and the corn tortillas were way too greasy. The shrimp and rice was ok, not sure if it's worth $10.99. The place was empty, we were the only customers there eating with 2 dirty tables that they didn't clean the whole time we were there. My shoes were sticking to the floor by the area you order.
Ordered on line and to pickup at 630pm. Was given wrong order and charge incorrectly. Remedied that but since I paid with debt card, the removed charges could take 3 to 5 days to return to my account. Home was less than a block away and when I got there the food was cold. French fries soggy, cocktail sauce thin and tasteless. The worst was the fried catfish. The cooked parts were good, The middle portion of fillet was raw. Spent 9 dollars for this meal and I won''t be returning.
Ordered online walk-in to pick up the food and a male untrained cashier bumble around trying to make change on a hundred dollar bill. While answering the phone 4 times while he was trying to paying attention to detail. Getting an attitude, losing his mind, when I said that I was picking up my order, he went to the the register to take my order, phone rang twice and told him that he was being rude. The manager walk out to find out what I had ordered on line and paid for said not to worry my food would be right out. Bad service and I do not blame the unexperience employee but management. Service with out a smile !
Oysters were very over battered... wet and doughy inside dont know if they really were cooked thoroughly... no taste...
Staff are nice here, and the area is clean. Prices are comparable to similar restaurants. The food however is just ok. Everything is very greasy. I ordered grilled fish tacos and the corn tortillas were soaked in grease, the rice was crunchy as well. I asked for green beans instead of rice (a 40 cent upcharge) and was brought out rice instead of my green beans. They told me to keep the rice and brought me my green beans no harm no foul...I went to get unsweetened tea and it tasted like it had been sitting there all day, (went around 4:45pm) the sweet tasted fresh however. My son ordered a kids quesadilla which was again fine, but super greasy. I'm sure all the fried food here is good, but if you're looking for something on the lighter side of things ask for it to not be grilled in grease. All the staff were accommodating and friendly. The pic is two tacos combined in one.
Customer counter order service was pleasant. However, beware of poorly prepared (not good), red snapper. Had it before, it was better. However, this time, So sorry to report, it was horrible. My godmother refused to eat it. Bad smell, possibly a bad piece of fish. Regret that order. Should've just taken the whole plate back.
I used to love this restaurant growing up, but in the past five years, the quality has gone down. the TV in the main room was WAYYYYYYY too loud and multiple customer sat near it thinking it would be…

Picked up my to go order got home and my family rice had so much long brown hair . I don’t know if they wear hair nets but I was so disgusted. Luckily we didn’t eat any saw the hair as I was scooping it out to serve . Immediately just long strands mixed in the rice 🤮
410/Culebra location.. worse experience ever! I ordered a grilled chicken salad, my husband ordered the seafood platter. Before we could even get our drinks a gentleman took his plate to the counter stating his food was cold and raw. The manager took the food to the back and you could hear a women employee start yelling. A second gentleman took his plate to the counter complaining that his food was undercooked. And the yelling in the kitchen began again. We should have got up and left but I'm not a follower, when my salad came out there was literally a whole tomato just there in my salad, as if the cook decided no dicing for today, and my chicken was dry and noticeably old. My husband's food was even worse he got undercooked fried oysters and fish was very dried out. Save yourself the stress and avoid this location.
Worst food ever. I gave it one star because the manager on duty was very nice while I listed my complaints. I really don't know how they have been in business 29 years. 3 raw oysters fit on one cracker. Cocktail sauce was full of Tabasco. Coleslaw was room temperature. I would like to say one positive thing, but all good was awful. Corner Store has better fish.
I thought I’d found my catfish place in San Antonio but as usual it didn’t take long to figure out I was wrong. I normally stop in for a three piece catfish only but I tried to order it a couple weeks ago to be told it was $6.00 a strip not filet.I told the lady that she had the wrong item she argued with me stating that was the price, ask to speak to manager too busy to talk. So today I thought I’d try it again. Well not sure what kind of fish it was but it was for sure not catfish (if you eat catfish you know catfish) the fish was totally over cooked. The breast was like toast. The fish was very thick with no flavor. I called the corporate office to be told that an area manager would call me. That too didn’t happen. Should have known that a restaurant that has their Christmas hours posted on their marquee would be trash. So don’t expect anything special here except what ever kind of food they want to put on your tray. Typical southeast side restaurant
The food literally has no flavor. It's very bland. Very over priced.
First time visiting this location. The young lady taking orders was very nice and professional. That was the only good thing about this place. The fish was not horrible but it could be cleaned better, in order to remove fishy taste. It seems as though everything at this location is frozen. Ordered fried mushrooms and they had freezer burn and could taste it. The fried shrimp was mushy and had no taste. Mac & cheese was served cold. I don't know how that is possible. A working restaurant should always have fresh food no matter what time of day. This place served nothing fresh. It all came from the freeze or can. A complete disappointment. Will never return to any J Anthony locations.
I am putting this review out there because I don't want anyone to have to suffer like I did at this place. The salmon must have been days old, it tasted more fishy than any other salmon I've ever had in my life. It was also severely overseasoned with some strange lemon-flavored seasoning. It was so bad that I couldn't stomach it, and I am usually pretty tolerant of sub-par food. The mashed potatoes tasted strange and weren't mashed properly. They didn't even bother to take the black bits off of the potatoes when they peeled them and you could clearly see it. The salad was a joke. They pretty much just shredded up a single leaf of lettuce and slapped a massive tomato slice on top of it. There was a faint mildew smell in the restaurant and my chair stuck to the back of my shirt. It was also oddly dark in there. The only decent things were the fried fish my grandmother got and the hushpuppies and cajun rice were passable.
I wish that I could give less than one star! The fries were cold! The fish was bland no seasoning and no taste at all! The oysters were gummy uncooked and leaked liquid and juice all over the rest of the food and when I spoke to Mike the manager he was rude! He had an extremely condescending tone as he attempted to "educate" me on proper oyster cooking etiquette and then blatantly told me that next time I need to order my oysters correctly! They did offer to remake my food but I didn't like it so I didn't want it remade! I just wanted my money back and Mike then informed me that it is against company policy to give refunds! I ordered fried fish and some breaded shrimp. I’m sorry to say, but they have no flavor at all. The breading has no taste at all, in my lo experience.
Today 04/28/2023 at around 3:20p.m, purchased large order the only thing that was good was the fish the fries look like they were fried over again, gave them to the cats. And the salad I paid for I didn't get. The manage was Cashier/cook/prep. The only time I have seen this place at its best is Good Friday, but I do got to say the one on General Mc Mullen is Good
Online order, I picked it up and saw the lettuce, brown and old. Total disgust, why would the person who prepare it think it's alright to serve something that should be in the trash. I know it's hard times with available items but as well as you have raised the prices you should be able to provide quality produce.
Food quality has gone down. Please remove items from menu board that you dont carry. Drive thru attendant was very rude. Shrimp cocktail tasted sour and smelled off. I ate a little of it but suspect I may get sick. I'm keeping the rest for testing if I develop food poisoning. I'm done with you J Anthony.
Disappointed with J Anthony's. We ordered the 10 fish 10 shrimp family meal for $31.99 It comes with fries and a quart of any side. (At least that's what it says on the menu boatd) Lies!!! We ordered mac & cheese as our quart side. The cashier never mentioned anything to us. He charged us and as he handed me the receipt I noticed an up charge of .89 cents for the mac & cheese. But when the food arrives it's not a quart that we receive it's a pint. Mind boggling that they up charge and down size for that particular side. That's right you pay more and get less. But no where on the menu does it state that.
Oh damn that food was bad. Got the fish platter and it was awful. The fish was mushy and no salt what so ever, the coleslaw was so soggy and tasted way too much like vinegar and the rice was obviously reheated because it was literally one whole piece clumped together. Even bought a piece of chocolate cake and wow I’ve had sand with more moisture than that cake it had to have been a month old. Also the restrooms were disgusting and completely dirty which is surprising that they were already gross given the fact it was barely 12pm on a Monday. Overall literally worst lunches ever but the cashier was very kind that’s the only good thing about this place :(
The fish was nasty mashy. I just toss it in the trash . This is my second time there wanted to give it a second chance same thing nasty food
Absolute disgust! Anyone that gave this place anything better than the one star you have to seriously needs to get your senses checked. The fish is absolutely disgusting. You can easily tell it's frozen and thawed out. Smells funky. Weird texture. Horrible taste. The tartar sauce is the absolute worst I've ever had. I had to drown the fish in ketchup to even be able to eat it. The tea had the taste of old tea that that had been out too long already. The side salad was the snake thing ever. The tomato slice takes the whole bowl. The ranch was on par with the tartar sauce...trash. There is a reason no cars are in the parking lot. The inside of this place is really bad. The table are dirty. The chairs are sticky and disgusting. They look like dirt and filth are melting from the top. Your shirt sticks to them! Absolutely do not go to the bathrooms before you eat or you'll lose your appetite.
Okay so I have a legitimate question, why doesn't j Anthony seafood season their food? And I know for a fact that they had zero seasoning because I asked the employee how they make their fish and they said that they put cornmeal on it and put it in the fryer, and then I specifically ask them what kind of seasoning and then they said that they don't use seasoning. And it's certainly tastes like they don't use seasoning. That's crazy . If they would simply add seasoning to all their food their food would be amazing
Yesterday we went to go get dinner and what we got was fish that fell apart easily it was almost inedible it was so gross we had to throw it out. As soon as we picked one up it fell apart it tasted really bad. We didn't go through the hassle of taking it back because my daughter was feeling sick. So we no longer wanted to go back. We basically wasted almost $45 for Tea ,fries, and Mac and cheese which by the way they no longer have the cheesy shells anymore. For being how expensive it is it sucks it was not made right. It's also very disappointing because this is a place we do like to go.
First and last time we go there. The place looks old. There was hardly anybody there so there was no reason to get my order wrong and be missing food. I got the 2 pieces of fish with 2 pieces of shrimp and the forgot the shrimp. The 2 sides I chose were Mac and cheese and green beans. I asked if they were fresh green beans or can and guy at the register said it wasn't canned, but they were and were extremely salty. The Mac and cheese had no taste and noodles over cooked. The fish had absolutely no salt (probably because they used it on the green beans)"sarcasm there". The shrimp was not too bad but I could taste that they use old oil. BUT the absolutely worse were the hash puppies that were raw inside. The outer part was brown but the inside was very mushy and raw. So nope, we ain't going there again.
