Best Mexican food on the Northwest side, probably all of San Antonio. Generous portions and affordable prices considering the high-quality ingredients and spices. Fantastic drinks and cocktails too! Very welcoming and friendly service as well.

This place never disappoints the food is always fresh and delicious. My kids always finish their food and I get to enjoy a drink or two. The margaritas taste amazing I normally get the flight to have a little bit of everything. The servers are always so friendly and the atmosphere is so comfortable.

We went for my mother in law’s birthday. It wasn’t too busy but we did have to wait as we did have a larger party. The service was very good. The food was absolutely amazing. I loved the street tacos. My husband enjoyed his enchilada plate and my daughter tried the chicken quesadilla. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some good texmex. We will definitely be coming back. My husbands giant beer was only $6.99 which is a great deal as well. 10/10.

1st time at Nicha's will definitely come back! From the chips and dip to the last bite, it was "high quality" (words from my 10 year old he absolutely loved the fried butrito). I can stop thinking about the shrimp spinach mushroom quesadillas with the white rice. Husbands fajitas were sooo tender. AND THE TORTILLAS WERE AMAZING! Chefs kiss! PRICE IS FAIR AND REASONABLE!

For over three years now, we have been coming to this Nicha’s location on 410 to have lunch with my mother. I come from Kerrville, my brother comes from Austin and we bring our mother who lives here in SA. We meet here once a week (verified). Not once have we been disappointed, hence our weekly return visits. The food is inexpensive with plentiful and hearty servings and served hot always. The service is always outstanding that we have always noticed, one reason being is that we choose the same section every time (verified). Truth be told, the food, bar drinks and pricing are superb without fail but the service in the section we always insist upon is perfect for a reason. The reason is our server, Carolina. She is a nose to the grindstone worker and we are served hot food fast and expeditiously EVERY time without fail. You can’t beat that. I live alone in Kerrville and eat out all the time. My brother lives alone in Austin so he eats out a lot as well. The one thing we both agree on is that we have never gotten better service anywhere than we get from Carolina. Sometimes, she’s not on duty as a server and it is very noticeable to us. Of course, the service is standard as we would expect like anywhere else but the extra notch of superior service is just not there. Hence, your big ginormous tips, Carolina. LOL. Honestly, we love this restaurant for the reasons stated above. We would still frequent Nicha’s, probably until time comes to an end for us but we return week after week for one reason, CAROLINA. Yes, also the food is great as well but Carolina is the reason for the never fail weekly returns. PROVE ME WRONG!

My wife and I stopped here for a lunch date, and we're very impressed! The food was fresh and delicious; the whole atmosphere was clean and welcoming. We were there on Saturday, January 31, 2025. The food was wonderful but the high point was our server Daisy. She made us feel at home. It was a great experience.

Enjoyed the Valentine Day brunch with my Galentine. The omelette, menudo & chocolate covered strawberries were my favorite!!!! Though everything was delicious. The staff was working hard and still managed to smile and be kind. This just may be my new favorite brunch spot.

Had the pleasure of visiting today for the all you can eat brunch. Was immediately greeted, and they kindly assisted us with a table and not a booth as requested. Our server, Joshua was absolutely amazing, attentive, kind, friendly make sure that our drinks were always refilled cleaned up plates after we were done with it to go back to the buffet when we requested a special item. He made sure to wait for it and bring it to our table. Overall, the atmosphere in the service was above expectations. The food was amazing. The Menudo, the enchiladas, the yogurt parfait the rice pudding, the Tres leches cake. The omelette station was phenomenal. The gentleman who made our omelette was very friendly and listen to exactly what we wanted really appreciated him. Hands-down a very great experience, but Joshua definitely put it over the top with his amazing service. going back again for sure.

We had my mom’s birthday here. This is one of her favorite places to eat. The food was good, the atmosphere inviting, but the chairs could be a bit more comfortable. I love the decor. The service was great. The cucumber margarita is the best!

September 13th, 2024 Went to one of our favorite place, but I doubt we'll ever be back. We are always at this place because we love their food, but this will probably be the last time we go there. There wasn't any parking at all, but there were 3 Pick Up & Go spots that had 2 vehicles parked in those spots but NO ONE was in the vehicles. I decided to park there because there wasn't even any parking in the Handicap Parking and yes I have a placard. When we walked in sat down and ordered I decided to go speak to the Manager and let him know why I parked there and he said my vehicle would be towed, and he wasn't going to do anything. We are in there maybe twice in a week but for sure once a week. They know us there but he decided that my car would be towed. He doesn't know that I am a food critic but he knows it now. Their food is great but I'm sure that just like we found them we can find another restaurant that will appreciate a true customer. NEVER AGAIN!!! Aug ust 10, 2024 Flautas with Rice & charro beans were delicious! Ordered fajita tacos with rice & charro beans. They were ok nothing to brag about. Everything was 10/10 here! Enjoyed our stop from start to finish. Even with the short staff, we were seated quickly, had our order taken, drinks made, and appetizers on the table within 5 minutes. The food was delicious and hot. It was made to order instead of sitting in the back waiting to be microwaved. The margarita flight is a fun sampling of their margaritas; all tasted great. Service, food, cleanliness was top tier. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I decided to try Nicha's Breakfast Buffet for the first time yesterday. It runs Saturday and Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised by all the selections- a wide, delicious variety- everything from menudo to french toast, fideo to fajitas. Cooks are there to make your own custom omelettes, and then your choice of yogurt parfait, arroz con leche, and other sweet choices for dessert! Also very affordable both days, but I recommend to get there early as it gets pretty busy. We even enjoyed some cocktails from their fully stocked bar (Strawberry Mimosas and Mojitos for the win!) Also special shout out to our server Josephine (Josie) who was on top of refills and requests, even when her section filled up! We even noticed how personable and friendly she was with all her guests- telling them to have fun shopping, or to be careful going home. She helped explain details on the buffet and menu and having been a server myself in the past, I really appreciated her attention to detail. Highly recommend this place and definitely intend to come back, as we only made it through half the buffet, and we're not quitters! Lol Can't wait to visit again with family and friends!

Went in to enjoy some amazing food and drinks. Entering I was greeted and seated right away. The server Tina was training someone and showing him the ropes. She was on point with everything. Offered food and drink suggestions and was very friendly, it’s like we were old friends. She was setting a great example of how to treat her customers, I was treated like family. Her trainer came to check on me to see if there was anything I needed and was also very nice. I will certainly go back and certainly ask for Tina! She made my experience one to remember.

The hubby and I were looking for an authentic Mexican spot that serves chilaquiles and we found it! Went with my family for dinner. The atmosphere was great with super friendly staff at the front that took us to our table as soon as we walked inside and mariachis playing close by us, which we enjoyed. Outstanding Breakfast Buffet & Desserts We had a fantastic experience at Nicha’s, starting with their breakfast buffet, which was impressive and plentiful. They offer everything you could want for breakfast — menudo, pozole, an omelette bar, and just about every breakfast item you can imagine. The variety alone makes it worth the visit, and everything was fresh, hot, and well prepared. The photos reflect just a small part of what the buffet has to offer, but it gives you an idea of the quality and care that goes into their food. A very special shout-out to James, who made the chocolate bar desserts. Each one was absolutely delicious — one by one, every single dessert stood on its own. You truly can’t pick a favorite. They were the perfect way to end an already great meal. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the experience from start to finish was excellent. Nicha’s clearly takes pride in what they serve. Highly recommend — especially for breakfast and definitely don’t skip dessert.

I have loved this location for a long time. The margaritas are the best and the food is pretty good too. I get Dad's plate and my hubby gets the Chile relleno. The beef fajita melts in your mouth! Authentic Mexican eatery.. Very reasonably priced

We decided to give this place a try for Mother's Day. They were extremely busy, but we were seated right away, since we were only a party of 3. Our server greeted us promptly and took our drink order. We were very impressed with the cocktails we ordered. The presentation is absolutely beautiful, and they were also tasty and reasonably priced. Our food came out quickly, a little too quickly. Didn't have much time to enjoy our cocktails first. But we would rather the food come quickly than having to wait for it! They also have a reward program that if you sign up for you get $10 off $50 or more. We presented our email to our server for the discount and she took my phone with her. Then a different lady came to our table with my phone a few minutes later and rudely said, "What do you want me to do with this?" We were confused, then she said "I need to see the email you received". I then proceeded to show her the email. Then she took my phone and disappeared for almost 10 minutes, before she brought the phone back along with our discounted check. I really don't understand why this discount can't be redeemed at the table, with just the showing of the email. I didn't like that they had to take my phone with them in order to do this. Overall, we had a good experience because of the food, drinks and service. We just did not care for how they handled getting the discount on your check.

Great selection of food options for their breakfast buffet. At 14.99 it’s a great deal for unlimited pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, potatoes, mixed fruit, tortillas and even soups. For a Saturday morning around 10am it was busy but we arrived and were seated right away. Our server Eileen was sweet and was quick with our drinks. Loved how we were offered chips and salsa in the morning. $6 dollar mimosa with options of strawberry, peach and traditional orange juice. But the hit at the table was the Texas Fried Burrito. Easy option to view check pay now at checkout. No need to give your server your card.

Elaborate, colorful and optimally lighted restaurant. Foods were great and so were the way those were served. Portions were more than sufficient within the price you pay for it. Staffs were cordial and waiting time was 8-10 minutes for Saturday lunch hours.

There were some really good things and there were some not as good things. First, I’ll start with the ambience. I like the colorful decor and the style of the restaurant. The parking lot in front was full but we were still able to get seated right away. Towards the end of our meal they had a mariachi, which is cool if you like that, but I’ve never been a fan of having a mariachi singing while we’re eating and out at dinner. Now the food. I got a michelada with a dos XX, which was really good. It had these pickled green beans and olives in it and was pretty yummy. Then they brought out the chips and salsa. I feel like chips and salsa are the first impression a Mexican restaurant makes and are a good sign of how the food will be. Well they were really good! The chips were light, salty, and crunchy and the salsa had an awesome flavor. It was REALLY good. We also ordered queso and it was good also.. I’d give it a 7.8/10 I ordered the Steak Ranchero. It was a 10 oz ribeye that I had cooked medium rare. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was tender but a little bland by itself. It was great in a taco and with the ranchero sauce. The beans were a little too salty (consensus of the table) but the rice was good. 7/10. My wife ordered the fish tacos and was disappointed. I’m not a picky eater and like most things, but I tried it and the fish was just.. soft and bland and it had raw jalapeños and cabbage, which is ok but there was too much. 4/10. My daughter liked her crunchy tacos and her friend got enchiladas verdes that she thought was good. My son got cheese quesadillas and added chicken, but didn’t really eat them. They looked good though. So overall, I liked our visit. It started on a high note but kind of leveled out.. good not great. If you’re in the area though and want something we to try, I’d say check it out

My family and I eat there every week. We love the complimentary chips and hot sauce. We have tried and love many of the different plates they offer. We always ask for Daisy as she is very attentive and such a great server, always with a smile on her face.

Great experience we had plenty of choices to choose from with the breakfast buffet they offer a build your own omelette station and plenty of food however my experience with the service was a little slow and the chilly container she served us was old and dirty I did see the staff working hard to keep up with the breakfast line cleaning and changing the pans which was good.

Is and ok restaurant and service was good not the best. Its bad when people consider themselves Mexican food and there salsa is not even Mexican or try to be one. Beside that I can say the Salmon Salad was good but everything else was average.

Drinks were okay. Not to say they were good enough to keep going back often for more. The food was definitely not worth a $90 ticket We had 2 street taco plates, the platter, guacamole salad, 3 adult teas, 2 kids teas, a cup of menudo & 2 alcohol🍸's Food was not 5 star rating but not bad either. We had been there over 8 yrs ago and we couldn't remember why we didn't care much for this restaurant. Honestly, We were looking for a place with monster nachos and Chacho's dining area is still closed 🙄😏😝 So we decided to give this place another try. Waiter was very nice despite he was very busy and was told he could not get help for whatever reason.😳

The food is ok. The waitresses are horrible. Especially that one Carolina, she's horrible personality and never smiles. The other waitress try to avoid giving us military discount and as l checked my bill Daisey had double charged my food and she had to correct it 3 times. Customer service needs improvement. I hope customer service will improve.🤷‍♀️Customer service gets zero stars from me.

It was ok, not so good. Plate scorching hot food on plate not so hot. Asked for chicken fajitas on nachos. I got beef. I was ok with beef but beef was no Bueno. Not good. Just I did not like it. For the price should be better. It was the very clean I did notice some dust in a couple of places but for the most part very clean. Maybe go just to drink and the ambiance. Other then that no.

The chips were good. My friend and I ordered the margarita flight and forgot to ask if we had a voice of frozen or on the rocks. It’s frozen, which is not our preference. That was our fault for not asking. The margaritas were ok. We had the carne guisada plate and the fried burrito with guisada. Both were tasty. Really enjoyed the flour tortillas. April was our server and she was great.

Let me start off by saying that the atmosphere is amazing. It reminded me of visiting my family in Monterry when I was younger. Saltillo tile, all sorts of mexican details everywhere, a great ambiance. Note to the manager: Look at the photo of my order. Is this the quantiy, quality and presentation that clients should expect for this dish? The quality of food has always been good. No issue there. I've had the menudo + corn tortillas for breakfast which is when we go most of the time. Recently, we visited for lunch. I had the fajita nachos, my wife had the migas plate and our guest had a chicken tortilla soup.The thing I took issue with was with the price vs portion size on my order of fajita nachos. Unfortunately they missed the mark when it comes to the presentation and portion size of my order. I can appreciate that the price of beef is expensive, but there was only a thin layer of refried beans on the 12 tortilla chips served to me. On top of that it seems the order was left too long in the salamander or whatever they use to broil the dish because the tortilla chips were brown and tasted just shy of burned or over-done. I've never ordered nachos at this price-point and only gotten 12 tortilla chips. LITERALLY every other places I've ordered (and I know Tex-Mex food, I'm from the Rio Grande Valley) nachos at comes with a plate FULLY layered with tortilla chips. The chips are layered with refried beans and a layer of melted cheese on top and finally, fajita slices/pieces on top of that. NUTSHELL: For the price I paid ($15.99), I expected more chips and beans. I can understand the portion of fajita given the current pricing of beef, but tortilla chips, cheese and beans are low-cost items. In addition to that, the presentation was messy. The plate looked like someone had already eaten off of it. I sincerely hope this was an "outlier" experience and next time we go (if we choose to), the portion will be better. Fill the ENTIRE plate with chips beans, cheese and then place the fajita pieces on top of that. I've given the food 2 stars due to the portion and presentation. See photo for referemce. First off, our waitress was great. Super nice & attentive. The atmosphere, well the decor on the wall was filthy. So much dust on the walls behind the plates. Big balls of dust right above tables where ppl are eating. Our table was extremely wabbly. Not a little wabble, it was by a lot. We just hate complaining so we didn't say anything. But our waitress noticed & said it was because of the tile. But it wasn't. So that was annoying throughout the whole lunch. I'm vegetarian, y'all used to have this delicious vegetarian plate almost like a fajita plate. (First photo). It came with a huge delicious, flavorful skillet of grilled fresh veggies. Y'all stopped making it. We stopped going there because the other veggie options were not great. Haven't been there more than a year. So we decided to go again & the options were not great. But I had this spinach enchilada. It was not good. Watery & flavorless. I ate one enchilada because I was super hungry but definitely didn't finish my plate. I opened one of the enchiladas & it's made with CANNED mushrooms. (Pic 2 & 3) Seriously? How do y'all justify charging us $13 on a plate of watery, flavorless canned spinach & mushrooms? Y'all should be ashamed of yourself. Then my husband got the pork carnitas burrito. He ate it because he was hungry also. (We didn't eat breakfast, went straight to lunch at 2pm). But it looked dry. (Pic 4) He said it was & a piece of hard meat poked him right in the gums. Really disappointed in the quality of food y'all are putting out now.

I made the mistake in coming during breakfast. Their lunch/dinner is amazing. I thought like other tex-mex places I could have ordered lunch. Sadly, that wasn't an option. First off my fork was extremely dirty. I was able to get it replaced. I ended up getting the porkchop plate. It is horrible. The porkchop is so dry and tough. Cutting into it takes a good while. The flavor is nonexistent at first but then it tasted like a wet sponge. The potatoes are dry and also tasted like a wet sponge. The eggs have that gassy flavor. The tortillas are tough but do have a buttery flavor. Their refried beans were also dry. No amount of green salsa helped anything. The coffee is not strong enough. Over all the only thing that was good was the water and tough tortillas. I hate being this critical but it really was that bad.

The food was awful. The tortillas were dry and not soft like they should be. I ordered beef steak tacos, but what I got was a pile of gristly, ground-up meat — more gristle than actual beef. They also forgot the queso fresco. The street tacos were bland and badly made, easily some of the worst I’ve had. Maybe I shouldn’t be ordering street tacos at nichas but at least get the basics down. Street tacos are basic mexican food.

MUST READ BEFORE EATING HERE!! Last night was my first time ever eating at Nichas with my Family. We love Tex Mex so this Place was a natural Curiosity! As soon as we walked in! The Music and Atmosphere was incredible! Our Waiter Angel was Spot on! He was an Absolute champ! The bar drinks we ordered were well made and had a fun presentation and the Free Chips/ Salsa were very solid! HOWEVER!! this were the well deserved criticisms must come in. For reference we ordered Pollo with Ranchero, the Mexican Plate, Crispy Taco Plate, Beef Fajita Nachos, Queso Flamo, as the Tampiquena Plate. They were all cooked and plated properly but bro!!!! Do not get me going on the Taste! Like what in the late night leftover Taco Bell did i just put into my mouth?!? The Fajitas were extraordinarily bland. The Cheese filling inside and on top of the Enchiladas were basically Kraft American Cheese, the Encho sauce was flavorless and was more similar to thick brown water, the reFried Beans/ rice were dry, the Charra Beans were totally not it. The only saving grace for the beans were the black beans.. those were respectable and had good flavor. The Beef Picadillo felt and tasted like flavorless mush. My Ranchero on my Pollo was epically bland… Were was the Savory Kick and Heat! Bruh.. 🤦🏻‍♂️. However the Chicken breast did stand on its own and was cooked well apart from the lackluster ranchero/ cheese toping. The Crispy Tacos 🌮were Fine, but nothing memorable. The Steak was cooked as requested and was okay (not horrible but not mouth water by any stretch) for a place not specialized or known for Steaks. 🥩 Overall i would 100% come here exclusively for bar drinks / appetizers. I can forgive mediocre service, lackluster service, and even a not so perfect atmosphere… but the FOOD must always be ON POINT! It is the Only reason why i want to spend a premium over cooking meals myself. I can not forgive bad food. So sadly and with a heavy heart that I can not and will not recommend this restaurant as a Go to Tex Mex Spot for Families / Parties who are seeking The best TEX MEX food that South Texas has to offer. 4/10 I do not Recommend!

The worst service I’ve ever had ever very sad because we never go out to eat me and my husband and the only time we go out to eat once in a year we try to have a good time. Try to have some drinks relax we got there at 9:45 930 around there we asked for drinks. It took them 20 minutes to bring our drinks after that. It took him another 15 minutes to even look at us. The waitress took forever. She was serving everyone else very lovely but with us she did not service like she did with everyone else I don’t know why she did that I am very, very saddened because it’s my first time coming here and they never paid attention to us once they’re about to close the bus boy Started throwing all the dishes hard while taking them away you have the people in the kitchen, slamming dishes, hard cleaning up all the waitresses cleaning. It’s only 10:30 PM. You can’t even eat in peace by the time it was 1045. They were already like. Are you ready to pay? are you gonna want this or not trying to take away our plate I mean it was just disgusting. We came hoping to find some good Mexican breakfast. The ratings looked good but the food was horrible!! Taco cabana has better food than this. It was so disgusting! 🤢 The barbacoa tasted nasty and had no seasoning. I tasted like it was weeks old. I took one bite and that was it. The beans were bad too. My daughter said the chorizo and eggs were dry and not good. The tortillas were okay but that was about it. You can throw a rock and find some great Mexican food in San Antonio so I was not expecting this experience. I don’t understand why it has so many good ratings. I won’t be back. 🤮

Typically this is my go-to for breakfast/dinner/outting with friends, tonight was just straight pittiful. The enchiladas were half the length m, little to no cheese in both of them, the beans were dry and cracked when I received them and the tomatos on the chalupa and puffy taco tasted rancid. My husband asked for no tomatos on his food and was greeted with tomatos (he has an allergy to them, so to pick them off isn't an option). When he told the waitress about the tomatos being present she just said "Well do you want it with out the tomatos or don't want it all??" With a annoyed look on her face. At that point my husband just told her to take it back. After this all 4 of us needed tea, cups sitting at the end of the table for about 20-30minutes. We didn't even see her come back out. We sat and waited, my husband had to stop her and ask for the check and she came back with the check and asked if we wanted teas to-go. My friend stated "not if it's going to take another 20 minutes", in honesty she was rude the entire duration of our visit. Refilled our teas once each. Took long on small requests that were not as important but still took a inconsiderable amount of time. At the end when I was ready to pay she was no where to be found! I stood there at the table while my family went to the car and waited while I waited and wlaked to look for her, another gentleman was nice enough to offer to cash me out but I asked for a manager in the meanwhile and he came out and all he did was call for my waitress and pointed to me. I wanted to speak with him about what happened, when explaining this man kept interrupting me and had ZERO intentions of listening to me. Gave me a look as just a woman complaining, with that being said after forcing my words to him and his blank stare his response was "yeah, okay. I need to talk to that one" no sorry or anything. That's it. I am very upset with the experience we had, considering I brought my friends to try it for their first time and for it to go like this? Horrible. I will not be returning to this location. Bad days happen but not like that.
