My favorite place. Been eating tacos here for 6 years. This is the only taco place that I want come at night time (they dont open on morning).
Delicious! Visiting my brother from out of state and he took us here for dinner. Authentic, homemade food and very popular so be prepared for a little wait but it's worth it.
Love the food here! Wish they were open earlier, however everytime I end up visiting. Late night, kind staff & yummy food on a simple menu! Be careful, the Red Salsa bites, but is Soooooo Goooood 😉
I've been coming here for 10 years now. They have, hands down, the best Asada tacos I've had anywhere. They're Salsa Roja is also phenomenal.
I love this place. Me and the wife come here every week. Some of the best red salsa Around. The tacos are amazing and so are their quesadillas
San Antonio was only a pit stop on my road trip but this place came highly recommended from my friend. Was the only place I stopped and did not regret it! As authentic as it comes and delicious!
No exaggeration, this is the best taco spot in Texas. Better than Austin, better than Houston, even better than Laredo. The quintessential taco truck, Ricky's is high on the list for places to bring people visiting Texas. Lines are rarely long but when they are, it's worth it. Ricky's is the truth.
Really good..can't say enough about these little bites of deliciousness. Long wait sometimes, but definitely well worth the waiting! Best tacos in town!
These are by far the best tacos in San Antonio. Im original from Chicago & love that I found this spot. Show up on time because they get busy quick. Made fresh. Try the steak😋
I wasnt expecting much out of this place because i generally let the food speak for itself. I must say, the food had great flavors that stayed in my palate long after I was done. The tacos are pretty small but they are called "mini tacos." I'll be a returning customer for sure.
This is the best taco truck in Northwest San Antonio!!!! I love the carna asada tacos 😋 unfortunately I always forget to take a picture of them because I always eat them before leaving the parking lot 😭 must try if you’re ever in UTSA area
I'm picky with wanting good tacos. I wanted good portions of meat cooked right, authentic ingredients, and a taco that can punch you straight in the face with flavors and a kick of heat. This place delivered, and I'll defiantly go back soon. My first try, I got The 4 Mini Tacos (2 Al Pastor and the other 2 Carne Asada) and the Hussian Quesadilla (May have spelled Hussian wrong). I got my tacos with avocado as an extra, and verde sauce. To me, these tacos have by far been the best tacos I can find when it comes to a little trailer shack that still delivers bomb flavors. I ate like an hour ago and can still taste them. Defiantly recommend a try!
Our favorite favorite favorite place on the take-out on the planet!!! We get take-out at least once a week. The al pastor tacos are amazing & the Hussein quesadilla is out of the world. I could take shots of the red salsa. Love, love, love.
Omg soooooo delicious! EASILY the best taco truck in the city. I tried the cheesecake last time and I was blown away. Their entire menu is gold. Zero complaints, always 10/10!
Best taco truck I’ve ever had. Friendly staff! Wish they updated their FB or have a notice about closings. We’ve driven there numerous times to find out they didn’t open for the night. Always such a disappointment! Worth it though!
Love it here! Used to go when my wife went to UTSA. Was in town over the weekend visiting from Houston, and still the best!
I mean what can I say if your looking for legit street tacos go here. Get the mini tacos carne asada with everything and add avocado. Get the green salsa and ask for extra limes and you will be in heaven. I try lots of places around this area and these are the best.
Best tacos to get at night after a party or even if you are just hungry for tacos at night. Also even if theres a long line it goes by fast and its definitely worth the wait best tacos in town. 100% worth it to go visit this place 😋
Always phenomenal flavor and friendly attitudes - Ricky’s is my go-to for late night taco cravings. Pro tip, ask for their beans which come more like a soup loaded with jalapeños.
Comparing tacos to this place is one of the hardest things ever! I love the tacos, burritos, quesadillas . Everything! They're isn't anything better than this taco truck! I come like every week or whenever I have splurging money. The lady who takes orders is always really nice, and Ricky is pretty cool himself! I've tried other taco trucks in the area and they're still nothing better. If I had the money I would buy these guys a restaraunt 24 hours just so I can get tacos 247 . Don't know why anybody could complain the best taco stand ever! I've been coming for 4 years now!
Great food. The wait, it was a little long, but I understand that come with the territory. Will definitely stop by again when we're in the San Antonio area.
We were in from Austin and wanted some great authentic street tacos. Ricky’s did not disappoint! We stopped by there on Thursday evening and everyone was so impressed I headed back over there Friday evening! Our faves were the carne asada and al pastor.
First time going to San Antonio and after going to six flags, I googled best tacos in San Antonio and Ricky' s came up first. We were not disappointed! The mini tacos were so delicious and the burrito was far none one of the best I've ever had, even coming from a food truck. We will definitely be back!
11/05/21: I came in late from out of town and decided to stop here to get a late night dinner since everything else was closed. The flavor from the charro beans was amazzzzzing! The carne asada was just as amazing! The green sauce was on point, but definitely respected the spicy-ness which is how it should taste! Definitely going back for more!
This place is reeeally good. It's on par with Taco Blvd. Actually, I'd say the taste of the bistec tacos at Ricky's Tacos is superior to Taco Blvd, but Taco Blvd has really good beans. But yeah, Ricky's Tacos is real good. I had an order of regular tacos with everything on them. For the meat I picked bistec. The order comes with 4 corn tortillas tacos. They were well served. I also had one of the flour tortillas tacos. It was just as good but when you order that it's just one taco for every one your order (unlike the regular tacos order which comes with 4 of those). I prefer flour tortillas so I'll probs get three of those next time. The service was nice too, real chill service and the wait time wasn't bad at all. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
The mini tacos and burritos here go real hard. Try to catch them on Wednesdays as you get 5 mini tacos on this day. Any other day you only get 4. One of the best Mini Taco trucks on this side of town.
The best tacos in all of Texas!!! It's worth the drive to San Antonio just to try once.
Really good place to eat tacos after coming out of six flags we attempted to eat at other places but they all closed before 10pm. The taste and service was good, friendly and quick also ordered was correct.
Rucky's Tacos is the best kept secret in San Antonio honestly. They are open really late at night but they make the most authentic and most satisfying street tacos ever had in my life. The carne asada with everything Street Taco is the best thing to get. I buy so many and freeze them and eat them later. They also have burritos and side dishes too. This is a place that should not be passed up
Great tacos! I usually don’t get chicken but theirs are highly recommended! I also love the Hussein Quesadilla and their salsas are great as well! The Al Pastor isn’t up to my expectations, but I honestly have not found any places that take my breath away around here. Other than that, this place is great!
I came here after buying some pretty bland tacos elsewhere. Ricky’s never disappoints. Just remember to have cash or cash app right now, but seriously, these tacos are amazing and their red salsa is the best. I always order the Al pastor mini tacos here!
My favorite taco place in town. The al pastor tacos are really good, but the asada tacos are my favorite. Their salsa, especially red, is super good, too. The staff is really friendly, and courteous. The wait time used to be too long, but it's been really reasonable the past few months. I only wish that they opened a little earlier.
This is the spot… there is always a line so you know the food bussing like VIA public transportation or taste real good like for my educated folks. This is a local spot if you know you know type of place. Price points are great they not trying to rip the people off. The tacos and quesadillas are my go to. Charo beans are different then the the whole cities but still taste great there are more like Chinese soup base at water base! If it’s your first time you have to try the double chicken and steak quesadillas banger!
I always love coming to ricky’s they have the best tacos in san antonio at the best prices imo, and it’s not even a restaurant. they also do weekly deals which is nice. the lady that works there is so sweet she gave me a sample of carne asada cause they ran out of the chicken which is what i wanted, but i went with asada and best 2nd option ever. definitely try them out they’re amazing 🙌
I’ve been a customer for the past 9 years since coming to UTSA and these are the best tacos hands down. The customer service is great the tacos are even better. During homecoming and huge UTSA events this is what EVERYBODY wants. People come into town looking forward to eat these tasty tacos.
I have been a customer at ricky's for at least the past 8 years because of how fantastic their food and service is! They're my favorite place to get asada mini tacos, and have the best charro beans on the weekends. The people working there are always pleasant and fast (considering how busy they get). Often times the line is out to the street because they're that good and worth the wait!
The atmosphere is nice, well lit, soft music in the background. I stopped by on a whim and man! I sure am glad i did. Their service was on par with the food, which was absolutely amazing! Since i left Puyallup, WA (years ago). I've been looking for a burrito that tastes like the one i used to get from the taco bus on S. Meridian in washington and i cant tell you how happy i am to have found it. I am ecstatic That post was from over 3 years ago.. I've been every week since at least two times a week
I'm from Los Angeles and San Antonio has horrible Mexican food. And all the tacos are made on flour tortillas ewww. But when i went to Ricky's Tacos OMG!! IT WAS Nostalgia ! The tacos are just like home! Perfectly cooked mini corn tortillas warmed up with oil, and served with carne asada onions and cilantro! Sooo recommended 👌
Best street tacos around!! Ricky and his wife catered an event for us and the fajita tacos were the best. Everyone at the party loved the meat and the tortillas. The salsas are homemade and so are the tortillas. Also when you visit the actual taco truck, Ricky and his wife and staff always greet you with a smile. If you want the real deal in street tacos. please visit Ricky's Taco truck. I highly recommend this place!!
Very good tacos, one of the better taco trucks I've been to. Soft tortillas, seasoned and fresh meat, good salsa. Friendly staff as well, not sure if Consuela is the owner but she is very friendly. Just wish they had their own parking space but I would still stop by again if I found myself nearby
Delicious tacos and great price!
If you’re looking for some Mexican food open late-night, Consuela and her team will take care of you like family. Amazing food at a good price - highly recommend.
I’ve been eating at this truck for almost 10 years, and never once have I had a bad meal. The Carne Asada and Al Pastor has always been my favorite. The staff has always been friendly and treated me well. I will continue to eat here for as long as there is a truck to eat at.
Oh my gosh I love the tacos here. Probably one of my favorite spots in the city. The wait is a little long and sometimes the hours are inconsistent. However, you can check their Facebook and they will keep you updated on their availability. Their tortillas are special here they are extra soft. Also, no one’s meat has this level of quality and flavor. One of my favorites!
Great spot for some carne Asada tacos! They come out a little too greasy every now and then, but by far one of the best taco places in San Antonio.
Been told about this place for years - finally got the chance to try it and it did not disappoint!!! Get the carne asada taco (on the flour tortilla) and load up with their green salsa. Yum!
It used to be good before.. without the sauces the tacos felt bland . Tried mini table with chicken and veggies.. liked the vegetables one only .
Used to love going here because the tacos are really good. Lately tho they have only been accepting cash payments. Not sure what the issue is but it is a inconvenience since I don't use cash.
I stopped with the family to check this place out. We purchased the carne asada mini tacos and were the best we've ever had. I would have given it five stars if it werent for the offensive music playing off the speakers. I get we are surrounded by negative language daily so lighten up right?. but it wasnt just the language it was the message. Play some tejano music and people will get the feel of the hispanic culture with the authenic food they are eating. i would like to see this food truck expand to a small restaurant setting. They would do really well.
It's been closed early/opened late 3 times in the last month at least. Not good for business. Best tacos around if you catch them while they're open.
The best street tacos EVER. And the owners are right there to talk. They have a sweet son, who has difficulty in school. You can tell the owners support their son to the fullest. Which makes them even cooler
No doubt you will definitely find their TACOS a treat to your taste buds. I enjoy their tacos whenever I am passing the place for their soft juicy taste of chicken and the hot sauce on top. I recommend 👍
Amazing street tacos! I gave it 4 stars just because it did take little longer than expected. But there always someone in line or waiting. There is no seating at all.
The taco truck was in a location where it was hard to find parking that wasn't in the nearby gas station. But the gas station of course already has signs of people not to park there. The food truck though was fast and the people were friendly and great with recommendations. The food was delicious, however I do feel the price was steep for the quantity and portions you get. Great late eat overall.
Best food truck on the Northwest side.. I stop here at least once or twice a week For burritos or tacos!! The owner even asked me how do I like my food and let me Customize it to what I wanted, I like how they recognize the regulars good food truck overall!!!
Simply put - you have to go. There will be a wait because they're usually busy but for about $30 we had enough food to feed three people and still had some food left over. The green salsa was great and everything we had there tasted amazing.
If they desire more business. Owner needs to really cater to Favor Delivery Drivers in allowing us to call in orders to go for our members.
I was disappointed that they've limited their menu to certain nights, they don't answer their phone so you can call ahead, their hours seem to have changed and their prices increased. Still the same great mini tacos asada I've always gotten there but if you want borracho beans better plan on visiting on Friday or Saturday night because I was told those are the only times they are offered.
The food was alright. The rice that they add to their burritos is NOT Spanish rice. It reminded me of rice that you get at a Greek resturant. So that kinda threw me off. Prices are alright. I've seen better. I had alot of fatty pieces in my carne asada. But I did really enjoy their green salsa. Overall still on the search for my favorite Texas Mexican Food.
Ever since Ricky left, the food just isn't as good anymore. Chicken is always bad, the carne asada fluctuates. Sometimes it is okay, sometimes it has way too many fats. Al pastor is the only one that held up the standards from Ricky's times.
It pains me to make this review. Food-wise, this is perhaps the greatest food truck I have ever been to after Bombay Salsa (RIP)…and that says a LOT considering their relatively limited menu. The meat is moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced between the tortilla and the toppings. On top of that, their red salsa is one of the best salsas I have ever had. It’s so good, in fact, that any spares I have from an order goes in a jar in the fridge for later use. However, I have been coming here for years and recently the hours have been extremely unreliable. It really is a guessing game when they are open; living on the other side of town it simply isn’t worth it to make a special trip anymore. On top of that it’s now cash only—which isn’t a big deal usually, but is a downgrade from the convenience of using a card that they had before. Forget about getting any info by phone either, there’s no answer. If I’m in the area I for sure will pass by but nowadays it seems more closed than not. tl;dr— food is top tier but they’re never open and Google hours don’t match and they don’t answer the phone
Tacos were expensive but good. Service was not so good. They had a sign posted right next to the order window which stated: “Buy three tacos and get the fourth taco free.” We placed our order for 3 beef tacos and 3 pastor tacos and the girl taking our order repeated it back to us. We reminded her of the sign posted with the buy three get one free offer. She look at us as if we were crazy. Twenty minutes later we got our order…. No fourth free taco. Ricky and staff can do a better job of honoring their own offers “Buy 3 get 1 free”. Next time I will pay another taco truck a visit for tacos and drive by Ricky’s.
The service has gotten phenomenally better since Rocky left. And they’re actually open now. They only thing that I wish they would work on is taking debit cards or cash app or something other than cash. I know it seems like not a big deal, but if you’re a business major, you know it adds up. They short you a couple cents when you pay and if they have 300 customers a night, 5 days a week and they’re shorting everyone one a few cents that’s a whole extra check for some people out here that they are getting from stealing from people.
I've been driving buy this place for years and never stopped. There were always people waiting (which is generally a good sign). The street tacos were pretty decent but i wasn't blown away by any of the food. I guess you can't ask for too much from a food truck parked behind a gas station.
The food has great flavor. We would have liked a little more big or normal size tacos and some lemons on thr side. We came from Houston and we liked it but it's different from the orders at our local taco trucks.
Great food but the wait, oh my. I understand that they get a lot of late night business but there is a solution to the long wait. HIRE HELP! By having long lines you are losing customers that you don't realize you are losing. I, for one, will drive on by anytime there is a long line even when my intent was to eat at Ricky's.
I have a number of friends that love this place, so I was excited to try it. Service was friendly and quick. But I just don't have a proper appreciation for cilantro and raw onions, apparently. I wouldn't refuse to return, but it just isn't my thing.
Took like 20 minutes and the food was just meh
The tacos al pastor were very dried .They didn't taste like Tacos al pastor at all. It doesn't sale any drinks. The Carne asada tacos weren't not juicy and too salty.
Their hours are very inconsistent. Its frustrating driving there and they are closed during their open hrs. The open maybe 2 times a week now. Theyre open rn at 6pm but their hours posted say they open at 9pm....they also are only doing cash. Food is decent but not worth wondering or wasting gas and time for them to not be reliable. I bet theyve lost a lot of business due this.
I ordered a burrito. It is not what I expected at all. I expected Spanish rice instead of white. There is also corn in there which wasn't bad but it wasn't expected. I was hoping it would have some gravy on it too. The prices were a little high for the amount of food received.
I moved to this area from the South Side, where it’s easy to find great taco trucks, so I had high hopes for this one since it looked similar to the spots I’m used to. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The meat selection was very limited compared to other real authentic mini taco places, and the tortillas had no flavor. The asada was plain. They were also “sold out” of charro beans. Also, the woman taking orders seemed rude and uninterested in serving customers. For the price, I’ve definitely had much better food elsewhere. Overall, not impressed and won’t return. Not surprising for the side of town it’s located at.
Second time I drive all across town and it's close
The last few times I have been the tacos taste different. Not the same Ricky’s tacos it used to be. Idk If there’s been ownership change or what but something is different and it’s not for the best.
I ordered my food and it wasn't done it had hair in it and they tried to short change me I guess they thought I was paying for the people's food behind me.
I used to be so in love with Ricky’s Tacos until I found a HUGE bug that was cooked with my taco meat. I didn’t receive a receipt so I can call them & tell them about the bug. I called the number on the website & no answer. We will NEVER be going back to Ricky’s.
I went here to get some tacos and they said they opened at 7:30. I was there early so I decided to wait in the car. I found it strange that I did not see smoke coming out (getting food ready and stuff). I didn’t think too much into it but when 7:30 came around no one was there to open up.
Edit. It’s the worst customer service from that little/young girl. Ever since the location moved. It’s been horrible. The asada tacos are so delicious 😋 the red salsa will light you up. I
The lady charged me for 3 orders of tacos when I ordered 1 order. And she knew she was trying to be slick because when she saw me get back in line after asking someone else how much they paid for their tacos she got nervous. When I got back to the window she said that I ordered three mini tacos and that they ran out of chicken. So I asked her why didn’t she charge me for 3 and she couldn’t answer. She just said let me see your card so I can give you your money back. I kept asking her but she couldn’t give me an answer because she knew she tried to get over on me. She even tried to verify with my ticket and thought I didn’t remember my number but when they pulled out my ticket it clearly said 1 order of mini chicken tacos. And she just sat there looking dumbfounded. Never again. Smh
The lady overcharged me $20 and she never refund my money on Cash app after she say that she was gonna do it and I still left the tip
Stop by to get tacos no line when I arrived when up to order lady said will take your order shortly. As I stood and waited patiently other people were coming up but they had already ordered. I didn’t get attended until she gave out the last order from 7 individuals at least 10min. After that took my order and I waited patiently while they were chatting away with another customer for some time. Finally the food truck next to them were closing up one individual came up and she was ordering at that point I got up from the table next to the taco truck and stood upfront to see if they had my order ready. Finally as I stood upfront then the lady taking orders stopped looked at me and finally realized that my order was already done guess she got carried away in her conversation. As I thought maybe only one person was working but to my surprise it’s 3 people inside one taking orders others cooking so why the 35min wait on 8 tacos. Food was not the worse but definitely not the best, service really needs to get up to paste since it was slow. Person taking orders asked the RJ worker you all very busy and sell a lot…. I was going to say you would too if you got to work instead of chatting the night away. I personally probably won’t be back but others might have a better experience.
They are serving things that they wouldn't even eat themselves. Your customers notice quality. Not much quality is expected from a small food truck, however, this is a slap on the face, time and money wasted. My order was made of like leftover meat that you throw away, like the fat that you remove from meat. Once you clean that junk out, the small little taco has nothing left. Cheese tastes old or like it went bad. They seem to have forgotten that they are feeding a human being and not a hungry animal begging for scraps. Do not waste your money, you've been warned. Use to love these tacos but unfortunately due to the huge slap on the face they are fired, removed from the list of options to eat nearby for me. Keep feeding people as if they were pigs and you'll end up broke. I hope this is only something that the owner can use for the better and fix but if they lose business they had it well coming for the extreme lack of consideration, especially when each little taco is well paid for; not like you can't make them with decent ingredients and still make a profit. 👎
I had to wait an hour to get my order which was 1 burrito. Other people ordered way more than me and got their food first before I could get mine even though I ordered first. I asked for a refund at first because I was waiting for so long then she said "We're starting on yours now" and when I got my burrito it was so small compared to when Ricky's team was there and there's more rice than meat (Picture). If Ricky was still there this wouldn't happen. I'm glad he has his own restaurant now. I really tried to give this lady a chance but definitely a let down. No one should have to wait an hour for one item. Especially when you're the first to order
The tacos are so good. I even travel over 200 miles to enjoy them but sadly as of late I have not been able to get my hands on these bad boys. I please beg whoever runs the operating hours to please update their business hours to a more accurate schedule. Online it says they're open 7pm-3am on Fridays & Saturdays. So we get there Friday night at 12am and the gentleman says they're closed already. We were surprised and advised him that online it says they're open till 3. He asked "AM?" He acted as if he was unaware so I also pointed at the food truck which also states they are open 7pm-3am on Fridays and Saturdays so he proceeds to say that they simply just ran out of food. I just want to know the most precise business hours available to me so I can make the best efforts possible to finally have some Ricky's tacos once again.
Do you like late night Tacos like I do? If you answered yes, then you'll definitely be looking out for a nice experience whenever you stop at any of the roadside truck tacos. But something about here is their arrogance, I consider nonchalant when you know that the times you published on Google as operating times is not what you work with. Several times I've been to this location to buy taco, it shows they are open but on getting there they are nowhere to be found. Moreover, they sell some of the most ridiculous mini-tacos(4), quite overpriced and not like it's well packaged. Nothing is special about it. So, I choose to kindly ask the person that took my order, he runs this truck.. if they could update their operating times to align with the days they are out, to my greatest surprise, it was funny to him, he literally laughed at me... and that was the highest feedback he gave me... more like... we don't really care kind of attitude. Infact, I started with 2-Star, but just remembering this, I am downgrading this review to 1-Star. If they improve their customer service and operating times, I wouldn't hesitate to bump the stars up. Thanks for reading, Please like my reviews for more updates.
