Recensioni di Viva Goa San Francisco
Excellent cuisine: light on fat, heavy on spices and vegetables. The tandoori dishes have some smoke flavors. The Masala chicken and lamb were both excellent. Decent wine and beer selection. We didn’t have dessert. Service was impeccable as was the cleanliness.
One of the best restaurants in Bay Area. Malai kofta and chicken lollipops are my favorite. Samosa is the best place in city.
Every time, I go here it’s always Good. The Staff always make my order properly and the customer service never fails if I’m undecided about what to order they will always suggest a Great selection that will be unbelievable Delicious.
The restaurant is highly recommend for AUTHENTIC Goan cuisine that’s almost impossible to find abroad. The staff are very nice and special shout out to Nicholas for all the hard work he puts in to making the place so welcoming. We ordered the prawn ambottik, naan, rice and finished off with their home made gulab jamuns. All of the dishes were amazing!
Ate there twice in a row because it was so delicious. Can wholly recommend the Stir Fry Marsala and the Prawn Korma, both absolutely delicious and flavourful. The garlic naan is fresh and crisp and "garlicky". If you go during the work week, don't be put off because the place seems deserted. They are good. Prices are fair.
Delicious food and great service made us feel home will be back soon Dal fry was 👍😊
Stumbled across Viva Goa while we were looking for affordable eats before a movie at Presidio Theater. What a great surprise!! This was easily the best Indian food I've had in the city - their okra masala was tangy and perfectly cooked, and every dish had incredible depth. We will be back!
They service is up to the mark and the food is tasty and awesome Tried butter chicken and naan Loved it
I was craving Indian food and went for Viva Goa based on distance from my house. Fantastic decision. I decided on getting the Samosas, the Garlic Naan, and the Chicken Tikka Masala, and everything was absolutely on the money! If I had to do it again I would do the Tikka Masala & Garlic Naan only, and drop the Samosas just because it was a big portion to put down for one person. That being said, the Samosas were tasty and if I wasn't weird about finishing my food I would still get them ten times out of ten, especially with the sweet dipping sauce. The Tikka Masala & Garlic Naan combo was really delicious. I haven't had a Garlic Naan like that yet in the city yet. It was absolutely delightful as it was a little thicker and chewier than other ones that I've had in the past, and for my taste that was preferred. Also, I don't know why I saw people complaining on here about the service? The gentleman at the front who checked me out was a true friend of the people in my opinion. I would have a hard time hearing a word otherwise. All in all, If you live in the Marina/Cow Hollow area I would strongly encourage a visit to Viva Goa. I will be going back again, and again, and again, and again, and again!
I was greatly impressed by the service given to me when I visited this place with my family I would highly recommend this restaurant for their amazing and delicious food and very friendly staff. Visiting this place again soon
Best Indian Restaurant for Goan Food in SF! This hidden gem in the Marina, SF, is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Goan flavors. Every dish we tried was bursting with rich, bold flavors and cooked to absolute perfection. The cozy ambiance adds to the experience, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Some of my favorites include the Pork Sorpotel, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Chicken Xacuti, Chicken Lollipop, and Malai Kofta—all perfectly prepared with authentic spices. For a delightful snack, their Samosas, Vegetable Pakoras, and Chai are unbeatable! To end the meal on a sweet note, I highly recommend trying the Bebinca—an absolutely delicious dessert that perfectly complements the rich flavors of the meal. The staff here, including the friendly and welcoming manager Nick, truly elevate the dining experience with their warm hospitality. Highly recommend this place for its delicious food and exceptional service!
Im one of the delivery guy and this guys are so friendly and always quick to help Best service from them I wish them all the very best😍
Viva Goa is the best Indian restaurant in SF by far. In addition to the classic North Indian menu they have unique Goan dishes (Caldin, Xacuti) as well. The food is amazing and staff very responsive & friendly!! I’ve brought my Indian buddies from South Bay here and they agree that the food is great!! Overall highly recommend.
I’ve ordered food from this restaurant probably 50+ times and have eaten in as well. Arguably the BEST Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. If I could eat their prawn korma every day, I would. It’s ridiculously delicious. As is everything here.
A hidden GEM of a place in the MARINA, SF . This place looks very cozy and has a decent ambience. Its serving Goan food along with Northern Indian dishes. After living in the Marina this time s the first time I tried this place and is now one of my FAVOURITES. I tried their Goan Specialities like Fish Cutlets, Prawns Xacuti and Bengan Vindaloo along with Rice and Naans. The Food seemed to be freshly prepared and TASTY with an outstanding Service done by the Servers. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try GOAN and North INDIAN food.
Food is amazing, each dish better tasting than the other. Reminds me of home, and my mom's cooking. So happy to have found this place. My favorite dishes are sorpotel, ambot tik, fish curry, xacuti, chicken lollipop, cafreal, caldin, prawns biryani, butter chicken..., and i highly recommend all of them.
Viva Goa Indian Restaurant is an upscale Indian restaurant located in a leafy suburb of San Francisco . It’s an aristocratic style place adorned with a beautiful bar and list of wines to choose from. The decor and atmosphere is pleasant. Plenty of seating with a beautiful touch of romantic lights is a plus. Food is amazingly delicious but somehow totally Americanized to satisfy their clientele taste buds. Overall staff is courteous very knowledgeable and can’t be miss out the Owens very much friendly.A good place to entertain your guest and indulge in delicate food and a pleasant atmosphere.
It's more than just Goan food here, but they do do a good job with Goan cuisine. I tried the ambotik with fish, and was delighted with the taste as well as portion size. The bibenca, for dessert, was just alright. Service was great.
Viva Goa is head and shoulders the best Indian food in the city. We order from here (take out or dine in) a couple times a month – it never disappoints. Every dish just has more flavor than pretty much any other Indian spot I’ve been to, and the flavors themselves are delicious. Food is super high quality, service is so friendly, and the whole team here has a lot to be proud of — place is the best.
I grew up close to this place and somehow never tried it until now, I was definitely missing out! I went to dinner with some friends here, and everything I tried was absolutely amazing! The staff were super kind and helpful too! I highly recommend Viva Goa to anyone for anyone looking for delicious Indian food.
This is my favorite Indian place in the city! Great for takeout or for dine-in (they always have some open tables) and speedy service. I haven’t ventured too deep in the menu because the classics are just too good - dal, butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, chana masala, samosas, garlic naan…you can’t go wrong. Servings are also fairly large and generally last me two meals.
Tried Prawns Masala Fry, and it was superb. Spice was so balanced. Will definitely comeback to try other dishes.
What a great one This guy made my day. The food is like I don’t really don’t know what to say but it’s the best. Chicken xacutti, fish cutlets, tandoori fish, rogan josh i must say this people should be given 10 ⭐️
Food was phenomenal and staff was extremely friendly, cracking jokes with our big crowd and helping decide on food orders. Very authentic spot. Must try
This is our favorite Indian food in San Francisco. We live nearby and get it 3-4 times a month. Have gotten it 3 times in a week before… sooooo good. Chicken Tikka Massala and Bengan Vindaloo are the best.
Such a lovely gem! If you are in the area, go here for some amazing Goan (western coastal food). It’s flavorful, authentic, delicious food with the most lovely service with a smile! Nicholas (the manager) is a pro and running this place amazingly! We had prawn xacuti (husband rated it as a 9/10 and he has worked in hospitality so you can trust his words). Kids had butter chicken and loved it. As a vegetarian I had Caladin curry and it’s the best dish I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. I am an Indian and take my food seriously. The dish was bursting with flavors, was made spicy on my request and the garlic naans were fresh out of a tandoor, as they should be solid and proper! Go enjoy a meal there! You can thank me later :-) we are coming back here for sure
Delicious, relaxed environment, great service, very VERY reasonably priced. My boyfriend and I got an appetizer, three sides, two entrees, and a large beer to split - it all came out to ~$68 total, including tax (but not tip). That is unheard-of pricing in this part of SF! My boyfriend loves spicy curry and they delivered a deliciously spicy vindaloo - it had the type of spiciness that grows instead of being so spicy that you can't taste anything else. The service was very attentive and kind, and all of our dishes were excellent. The environment was very laid-back and relaxing. We will definitely be back!
Had lunch with my family today Just want to share my experience A very warm welcome with a pleasant smile 😍 It was a table for 7, for a small get together The the service was great, there was no disappointment About the food I really have no words as everything was the best, chicken xacuti , prawns curry, naan , chicken lollipops I really enjoyed all the dishes. This was much beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this to anyone
The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection❤️ Hands down, some of the best food I've had recently! The freshness of the ingredients and the unique flavors were unforgettable. I'm still dreaming about my meal😛Each bite was a delight, and the presentation just blew us away I can say I should be back regularly
Food was good especially chicken xacuti. Overall I would say it was totally worth the visit.
Absolutely stunning. Don’t be fooled by the casual ambiance, this restaurant is the real deal. Super fresh, authentic, clean and delicious Indian cuisine. Every single dish was perfect. We ordered several dishes for lunch and more to take home. Ask for Jelson. Elegant and timely service. Highly recommended.
Dining at Viva Goa Indian Cuisine was a truly delightful experience. The food was delicious blend of spices. They chicken xacuti, butter chicken, vegetable caldin and bengan vindaloo was the best. The staff was attentive, very friendly, helped and suggestions were perfect for the order. The ambiance was perfect 🤩 for a special occasion My family gave them 10/10⭐️
Great prices in an expensive city. The food is good. For lunch we had Chicken saag, butter chicken, and naans. Then chai tea after lunch. The bathroom was clean. They have a big and clean bathroom, hard to find in SF. The only negative, dont get the gulab jamin for desert, it was frozen and had freezer burn taste.
While visiting San Francisco we found this Gem. The food was really good. Service was quick for pickup. Prawn Xaguti curry, appetizer Goenchim Sungttam Prawns, Goan fish curry were lip smacking. Rechardo Pomfret fish was tasty and good but better for ordering while dine in. It was hard to eat for carry out.
Honestly, the best Indian food I’ve ever had. It is consistently fantastic and leaves nothing to be desired. Service is solid and they are very friendly. I eat here at least once a month. I don’t ever want to move away from San Francisco because that means I will have to leave behind Viva Goa and their delicious food.
I've lived in the neighborhood for a year, finally stopped in to Viva Goa for the first time, and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Delicious Indian food, strong vegetarian selection, great prices, fast friendly service, and kitschy fun decor... 100% coming back. The eggplant vindaloo and garlic naan are remarkably good
Absolutely original and the best. This place has been there for such a long time but we missed it. The pomfret fry brought back all my memories - totally impressed by the taste or food and service. Affordable prices.
The food was really good. And the staff is very polite.
We skipped the amazing buffet for a more traditional dining experience and was not let down. Proper Indian beers, curry, and naan (the garlic naan is stellar) was what we all ordered, and our service was exemplary. We were taken care of when we needed something and we were given our space when we were content. When I visit San Francisco again and I'm in the neighborhood, I'll return.
This place is one of the most solid Indian restaurants in SF. The owners are so kind and they always say hello to me and my parents. We come here so often they bring us the Pakora and Samosa right after we sit down. I love the tikka masala and the korma here. You can’t go wrong. Everything is flavorful and well cooked.
The fish mascara fry is incredible and when my parents visit they always ask for the tandoori fish. Onion naan is delightful too combined with any of the coconut based dishes.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've visited in the US! I've lived in Goa for 4 years time and can definitely vouch for the authenticity of flavors. I got the Recardo Pomfret and Prawn Vindaloo with rice both were delicious. I had asked for very spicy and the food rose to it beautifully, not being just hot but also very flavorful. The servers were very attentive and polite. We had a wonderful time here!
I’ll take a few minutes to share my feedback I’m one of the uber drivers and I’m from Nepal But I feel I’m home when I visit this guys here Firstly we are give the exact time And very quick service, very friendly and staff is very helpful I know this guys since 6 years now They are the best among all the restaurant where I go I would like to say a big thank you to all of them 🫶🏻
Im from Mumbai and my mom’s family is from Goa. This food is super authentic and the service is phenomenal. Definitely give it a try! I’ll be visiting it again and again.
Hey just want to shout out and say this guys are doing super, quick service very friendly Sometimes we need to understand them as well. They do out the orders accordingly on time Its been 2 years n i fine this place the best 👍 from a delivery driver 🤗
We ordered Goan Chicken Curry,Fish Curry and Tandoori Fish, together with rice and naan. My parents-in-law are quite satisfied with the fish dishes because they are tender and cooked just to the right point. The chicken is also quite good to go with naan and rice. It is a pity not so many people visit this place even in Sunday.
Food and service were great. We were there early and were the first ones so quiet and pleasant. I loved the Tandoori fish, paratha and my friends liked their chicken tikka masala. The samosas and chicken lollipops were excellent. And they were generous pouring the wine glasses. There was a choice of rices and naan and paratha breads. We’ll come back!
This place has the best Indian food I’ve had in The City. Very homey feeling and nice portions. It’s lowkey and I like that. I take people here. It’s good.
My favorite Indian restaurant. I come here whenever I’m in town. We always get lamb vindaloo, veggie samosas, and naan. but everything outside of those dishes we’ve tried has been just as amazing.
Delicious food . Fried calamari, tandoori fish were all finger licking good! Ordered butter chicken and dal fry also which was good too with little less salt. Would recommend. Don’t have any pics because we were hungry ..LOl!
Viva Goa on Lombard Street serves flavorful Goan-inspired Indian dishes that feel both homestyle and refined. Their prawn curry and vindaloo stand out with balanced spice and richness, and even the naan comes fresh and aromatic. The staff check spice preferences thoughtfully, making the experience warm and personal. A cozy, welcoming stop in the Marina district if you’re craving well-crafted Indian food that genuinely leaves an impression.
Bro there is just not a single competitor as consistent and humble as Viva Goa in San Francisco. This is IT. The food is so good, this is one of those restaurants that just kind of transcends the rest. Tastes as good the hundredth time as it did the first. Phenomenal.
Viva Goa Restaurant is truly one of the best places I’ve dined at in San Francisco! The food was authentic and flavorful, and the experience was made even better by the warm hospitality. The staff are very attentive, and the owner personally makes you feel welcome. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in San Francisco—you won’t be disappointed.
I have visited many Indian restaurants but I should leave a mark at this place. It was a warm welcome by a waiter and made us feel special. The food quality was top, mouth watering prawns xacutti, Goan lamb masala, Butter chicken, Fish cutlets, vegetable caldin was the best it was awesome. Service team was so friendly and helpful and gave they 💯 Definitely I will be back
The BEST Indian restaurant in the city as I tried many of them and found this one as the best. I tried their Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta and Roti. The taste was really superb and the quantities are also good. So I got to pack some and take home as my next days meal. The service here is really outstanding as they stay very attentive towards the guests. I will really go back and try some of their other dishes.
I can see why this place has 4.5 stars. The food was really good and they have great service. We were going to do take-out but decided to dine-in instead. It was not too busy as it was a holiday weekend, but the ambiance was just lively enough. Upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman and then a young lady took our order shortly after. I can’t believe the bill was so low considering we ordered so much. And best of all, the corkage was just $12. Reservations not necessary but I would make one to be safe. I would definitely come back.
A novel variation from your standard Indian, this Lombard curry house serves South Asian flavors with a Portuguese and, at times, Chinese twist. Chicken 65, spicy-sauced and battered chicken breast similar to a Manchurian. Lamb Vindaloo, less vinegar and more tomato giving a tang but not sour. Tandoori Chicken, succulent and perfectly spiced served sizzling atop a bed of fragrant onions. Excellent when in the mood for a not-your-typical Indian, but still Indian, a la carte culinary experience.
Everything I had at this restaurant was absolutely mind-blowing. My visit was spontaneous, and I brought in a friend who has never had Indian food prior. We ordered several breads, rice, tandoori prawns, dal makghi and chicken tikka masala, and every single dish delivered punches of flavours and textures, with great balance in acidity and heat. Friendly staff was the cherry on top.
We enjoyed the Curry dishes and Naan bread. Two stars were just right for us for the spice level. We didn't try the Tandoori, but it looked good at another table. It was a little cramped in space especially for tall people, but what restaurant isn't. Our motel was only a couple blocks away and felt safe to walk in the area. The couple that joined us lived on the other side of Golden Gate Park and took the bus. Though traffic and parking wasn't too bad for a Friday night at the time we had dinner.
A good quality restaurant with some additional Goan recipes on offer. Being from the UK originally we are very familiar with Anglo-Indian cuisine and both the food and the menu lived up to expectations. Definitely worth the visit
An unassuming South Indian restaurant (Goa, indeed) close to the Palace of the Fine Arts. A great place to get a dinner after seeing a performance - note the long hours. The restaurant will greet you with a cozy decor and the servers are super-polite. Food was pretty good, we got the vegetable caldin, which I liked and my Indian companion rated the meal favorably as well.
Head to Viva Goa if you're looking to try flavors and dishes from Goa, a small coastal state in Western India. Goan food is spicy, often a bit tart but nonetheless unique and very tasty. Viva Goa does a great job in highlighting some classic Goan dishes like Xacuti and Vindaloo. The Whole Pomfret fry was great; and definitely ask for Pork Sorpotel; it's off-menu but they will happily make it. The food is fairly priced and the staff friendly.
Not the best Ive had, Royal indian on uber eats still beats the butter chicken. The pistachio Kulfi was amazing and the service was very good. We had roti, naan, butter chicken and rice. I will be back here for another dinner and try some of the other things on the menu.
I have tried authentic goan cusine before and this restaurant is quite underwhelming. Bebinca was good. Chicken lollipop is super red. Lots of coloring. Prawns ambotik tasted like prawns manchurian. Completely missed the mark. Tandoor roti was too thick. Goan masala and chicken xacuti were average at best. This recipes are a bit far from original recipes, and the chef should try to bring the original taste to the food.
if you run your business be kind and take respect oky and improve your delivery section
I had a food poisoning from this restaurant. I have been to many Indian restaurants and I never had bad experiences but Viva Goa disappointed me this time and I will never visit this restaurant again. The service was so poor and their dishes were dirty and the food came cold. Please avoid this restaurant
Great If you want to wait an hour for average food that they say will be 20 minutes. Won’t be coming back. They’re also extremely rude asking their customers to stand outside in the cold after making them wait hours for food. All this while the restaurant is 80% empty. God help you if it’s busy!
Tasteless indian food 🍱 very bad experience in my life we never go there 👎
There was a hair in my food, and the delivery drivers are very rude and arrogant. I literally threw up at the restaurant 😭
One of the very bad restaurant in bay area San Francisco.. i ordered some food. It’s chicken tika masala rice and chicken lollipop. She tole me 15 minutes.. but I waited there almost 53 minutes…. I frustrated. They’were very rude, and angry with me .. one of the bad experiences in my life… I never expected.. remember it’s normal day not weekend not holidays… please I request never go there
⭐ 0 Star Rating Very bad experience today. The employee sitting at the reception had a very rude and low-class attitude. They clearly don’t know how to treat customers properly and even disrespected a customer in front of others. I used to order food and eat at this restaurant before, but from today I will never come here again. I also do not recommend anyone to visit this place because of their poor customer service. Very disappointing experience. 👎😡 Please improve your staff behavior toward customers. 🚫🍽️
Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at this restaurant. The behavior of the staff, especially during food pickup, was very rude and disrespectful. Even though we only came here once to pick up our order, one of the employees spoke to us in a very unprofessional and unpleasant manner. We believe the management should remind the staff, especially those in charge, to treat customers respectfully—whether they are dining in or just picking up food. Because of this experience, we cannot give a higher rating and are leaving only one star.
