I ordered "Take Out" for me and my husband today as a special treat!! Nobody beats Perreca's Tomato Pie, Italian soups or Italian bread! Absolutely awesome! A+++++++ ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍😋😋😋😋😋 They have the "best ever" ladies who take your order, pack it so neatly and send you on your way! Thank you ladies! You are awesome! Perreca's you made my day and my husband's also! 👍👍👍👍👍
Very happy with first time eating here.. Chicken Parmesan was the best I've had in a long time. Service was great. Next time I would like to try the veal. The only thing I would change is the portion of chicken you give. I would go a little bigger for what your charging
We traveled from NC for Christmas and my inlaws 33rd wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, we had to come earlier because my FIL had a strome. He was sent to Sunnyview Rehab and since he had no dietary restrictions, we were able to get Perrecas takeout. The food was AMAZING and while the atmosphere was not the restaurant view, the takeout presentation was amazing. Thank you for being kind and generous. God bless ya'll and Merry Christmas
Food is amazing!!! Never had eggs purgatory and oh my god its awesome!! Bonus get it with the sausage sooo good!! The chicken parm over tomato pie was another surprise that I would have never thought of and it was delicious!! Definitely be back!! A+++
I just love this place! It's so quirky and quaint... We went for brunch... Our food was awesome, I saw half the restaurant eating something, which turned out to be eggs in purgatory... I guess I'll have to try it next time. All those people must know something.
My husband and I decided to go out for lunch in Schenectady. We have been to the Italian Festival every year and have always said we should come back to get lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants. Today we finally did. The service was excellent the waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food exceeded my expectations for lunch. I got the Chicken Parmigiana open faced Panini on their Tomato Pie bread with side salad that had house made Italian dressing and my husband got the Eggplant Parmigiana open faced Panini on their Tomato Pie bread with a side salad as well. The salad was simple, but the dressing was delicious a perfect balance to the sandwich. The chicken was delicious and the sauce was amazing, not too sweet. My husband enjoyed his Eggplant as well. The sandwiches were so big we couldn’t finish them, so we took them home for later. Overall, we enjoy our meals and time at this restaurant and look forward to coming back for dinner one day.
First introduced to this place a dozen years ago. Been a regular stop ever since. Famous for their bread (Actor Jack Nicholson used to have it shipped to him on the West Coast) they have many other delights including ready made, various sandwiches, huge cupcakes and their own style pizza. The deli meats are always fresh and great including their own sausage. Best of all is grabbing their pizza dough and sauce along with some sliced mozzarella cheese and making pizza at home. Last, but not least is the truly warm, friendly owners and staff that make each visit a pleasure.
This place is amazing. The history behind it was incredible my Dad told me about it being very old. The woman at counter said it's over a hundred years old you can tell by the floorboards. You feel the age of the place when you walk on the creaky floor which is nice. There is also a lot of history Jack Nicholson was filming a movie locally at the college here & discovered the place and apparently like the bread so much that he would order it to be sent to him elsewhere. I loved the olives and prosciutto mozzarella stuffed peppers.
Perraca’s is the best Italian food you can get in Schenectady, take it from this Italian girl who loves her Italian food! Whenever we have family in from out of town, we make sure to bring them here and they are never disappointed. The service is on point with professional and friendly waitstaff. We always have a lot of questions and they take the time to answer and explain things to us. We have never had to wait or call for reservations, making Perreca’s so accommodating and easy to visit. Put it on your list!
I had lunch at 2:30 on a friday. The architecture and people of the place is what I was looking for. The old crowd the tin ceilings the music it was me. The server was attentive and was able to full fill my request within the scope of my request. This was my first time eating there and I had the spaghetti and meat balls with garlic bread. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the sauce was tasty but I felt it didn't have that special old Italian flavor. Maybe it was missing the arm hair. The meatballs were big but a bit too soft for me. Overall a fine experience. The food is only 3 star rated due to me having only eaten the 1 dish so far.
Good cocktails, good service, nice atmosphere. I had the Chilean sea bass, which was tasty but maybe not the best choice for me since I've never had it before and it was also my first visit to this restaurant. Overall, pleased with the experience but for me the food was a little lacking for the price. Others in my party were happy with their meals.
In my visit there, I was very much happy with the service and the food were just great! Loved the attitude of the hosts there and it was efficient! Although it was lunch time but when we requested, they prepared a dinner menu for us! Loved that! There were plenty on street parking for free at my time of visit! They had a bakery next door but it was closed at the time. Else, we would have explored a little more. This was the first time I saw little Italy in Schenectady!
We stopped by for a late breakfast, which is served all day. An interesting eggplant parmigiana sandwich made with their tomato pie was delicious and filling. I had my usual pepper and egg sandwich. While always tasty it's preparation is inconsistent. Sometimes there are lots of peppers and eggs, other times not. Sometimes it's made with thinly sliced bread other times slabs of bread. The eggs in purgatory were spot on with a tasty and spicy sauce. The traditional over easy eggs were slightly over cooked. They were served with great tasting, well prepared breakfast potatoes and a sizeable sausage patty. We finished breakfast sharing a huge slice of orange cake with ample frosting and sweet orange filling. Perreca's dining area is well lighted and clean with a view of the kitchen. Service was relaxed yet thorough.
Ate lunch with a group of coworkers. The parm sandwich was good, but where this place lost points is the dessert. Paid $8 dollars for tiramisu that was barely 2 bites. Very disappointing for a place that has a bakery. Bread is still very good though.
I went there tonight and was hungry for some decent food and had not been here in years but was disappointed....because there was nothing affordable on the menu!! It was cold and noisy in the place....I had a glass of cheap wine and mussels and it was over 30 dollars! ....the mussels were just ok and the sauce had a strange texture that I had never experienced before as I dipped my bread in it...it was like it had cornstarch or flour added to the wine and broth..idk but it didn't rival the frozen ones I get at price chopper by much or at all... and when I was reading the prices on the menu I was shocked 8 bucks for a cupcake...25d for spaghetti and meatballs !! The Hunger Games are happening alright! And I wanted the pasta fagioli that I always got there for years when I didn't make my own but they no longer had it!! Why idk but its would be nice to be able to get a meal outside of Stewarts or McDonald's for less than 50 dollars ....and that's becoming a challenge ...I paid 17d at a local place in the stockade for a lousy pre fab egg sandwich oj and a coffee.....so in essence if you dont have at least a 20d bill you aren't getting much ...if anything good at all...
I typically don’t leave reviews, but, I was so excited to take friends to dinner there because I had an amazing brunch there over the summer. Dinner was disappointing and I felt bad for recommending the place so highly to my friends and making them sit through it. I had the chicken piccata that tasted more like chicken scampi with capers added to it. The wild mushroom fondue although the sauce was tasty, the mushrooms were white button mushrooms. Service was slow. I may attempt brunch again, but I’ll be hesitant to return for dinner. We made reservations so there was no wait to be seated.
Service was slow. Food took an hour but I wouldn't have minded if it had been better food. It was mid at best. What was ordered didn't match the menu description. The restaurant needs a good cleaning as well.
I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food was very plain — the Chicken Marsala with mushrooms lacked seasoning. It tasted more like plain chicken with a few mushrooms on top, rather than a rich, flavorful dish. Also, the cleanliness of the restaurant could use more attention. It’s always important for a dining space to feel fresh and well-maintained, and that just wasn’t the case during my visit. I hope improvements are made, both in the kitchen and in overall upkeep.
I ordered from them and loved the idea of some chicken marsala and some fresh pickled veggies (maybe something delicious like beets). I was sent unseasoned chicken in dirty dishwater and PICKLES AND CARROTS. What is WRONG with your chef!? These items need to be removed from the menu immediately these are not safe for human consumption.
