Southern Rose has the best food and staff! It's like sitting at mom's kitchen table, except you won't have to wash the dishes later.

My boyfriend and I wanted a good breakfast as we were starting an 8 hour drive from Hobbs, NM to East Texas. I Googled it and this cafe came up. It was an outstanding breakfast. Sometime I would like to stop in for lunch or dinner. The sign behind the registrar says it's voted #1 chicken fried steak. I didn't leave one bite of my omelette.

Their food is great, but they could pick it up on waiting tables and getting the food out faster, use to be quicker but something has changed and not for the good

Fantastic homemade food. We came in on a Friday night and shared a catfish plate. It was so good. It came with fries, coleslaw and beans. The food was hot and delicious. They have many local recipes like chicken fried steak, burgers, salad bar and more. Locally owned and operated.

Always love to come eat at this resturant! They do the best comfort food and tastes like homemade and fresh. Their prices did go up a bit but still love to grab a meal from time to time.

I really liked the lunch buffet idea with different lunch served everyday. Also had the blueberry cobbler (never had blueberry cobbler before) without ice cream. The cobbler was really good. Just makes me think that I should’ve definitely not passed on having it with ice cream.

We had 4 plates of delicious food (one being a steak yet) and I know for a fact not another place in town would have had the awesome price we got. Thank you for not hiking up your prices like everyone else!

Nice, homey, mennonite founded cafe. Because of that there are German menu items you would not necessarily expect in a small, remote, west Texas town. Then the were the farmer cafe menu staples like chicken fried. The day I was there most people seemed to be either going through the buffet or ordering fish. I had the chopped steak which was ample at a portion and a half. But, considering I was specifically looking for good protein, ground chuck seemed like a great option. Worth another visit for me and definitely worth your time as you pass through town.

Came through Seminole for a football trip with students. Chicken Fried steak sandwich is awesome, as are the fries! Only complaint is it’s a little pricey.

We had the buffet which had steaks, asado, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and green beans. The steaks were way overcooked, corn tasted like it came from a TV dinner. Nothing to eat the asado with... Overall, it was "okay" definitely not the best place in town.

Good luck picking up a to go order. I stood at the counter for at least 15 minutes, and every waitress just looked at me and went on with what they were doing. Like i wasnt a customer standing at the counter. I decided they can throw the food i ordered away. I couldnt even cancel it because no one would listen. I called but the phone went to voicemail. It might be good food, but im not gonna stand there looking like a fool when NO ONE even bothered to say hello. Its sad when Id MUCH rather eat at our mcdonalds than southern rose because at least they ask you if youve been helped.

Ordered burgers here a while back with bacon, didn't get any bacon. Ordered 5 stuffed milanesas yesterday with mashed potatoes and corn. They even asked what kind of gravy for the potatoes. Didn't get any gravy or corn. Just two big scoops of dry mashed potatoes.

Ridiculously overpriced breakfast. I could have sworn I saw 14 dollar oatmeal. Like is this Gordon Ramsey oatmeal or some generic 3 dollar huge tub oatmeal. 5 dollar sausage patty. 14 dollar huevos rancheros. At local Mexican food restaurants that is 7 to 9. We ordered the standard breakfast plate with apparently crispy near burnt hash browns, 2 potato, egg and cheese burritos. 1 pancake. My family was not happy at all as burritos apparently have no cheese which they charged 6.50 a burrito. The hashbrowns were overcooked. I would love to support a small town diner. when they can't do a basic thing or charge 2 times as high to ridiculously high. I can't support that and I hope the owner sees this because unless his oatmeal has truffles he is charging way too high. He probably would have more business if he charges less and offers quality not burnt hashbrowns or burritos without cheese. I would not eat here passing through I would rather pay sonic half of this and get a full meal. Hey it's a small town though they like to gouge. Oatmeal 14 dollars come on 50 servings in a container bulk. 12 for an omelet with 1 egg really. Owner is way ridiculous on pricing.
