Hen Quarter - Silver Spring

I went to the Silver Spring location. I ordered the catfish, with macaroni and cheese, and greens. The food was excellent, but the service was HORRIBLE. My server kept bringing the wrong beverage, and she was unprofessional. The food is good, but I really don't think that I will be back, because the service is awful.

We decided to try Hen Quarters as our first Sunday location. We were SO happy. Despite a bumpy start with our drunk order, which was graciously corrected, the chicken and waffle that my daughter and I ordered was one of the best. The waffle was savory with scallions and corn, and the chicken was southern flavorful chicken!!!! My other daughter ordered the catfish plate with macaroni and cheese, again pure delight. We will definitely will be back for Sunday brunch again!

Perfect location for this type of restaurant, but the chefs definitely miss the mark with food preparation too often. I’ve been here several times and the fried selections aren’t cooked long enough. There’s nothing worse than biting into fried food that’s gooey on the inside. Also, the catfish sandwich wasn’t a hit with me. It’s not seasoned enough and doesn’t have the unique dirty taste catfish does! POSITIVE: Great variety at the bar and their watermelonade is awesome!!!

Great atmosphere. Food was delicious. Soup came out cold. That’s why I gave it only three stars.

Waited 15 minutes to be seated and it was empty. Waitress took 35 minutes to take our order( I was with my hungry 7 yr old). Kept taking breaks outside. The crab hushpuppies were delicious.

Wow, how are they still staying in business?

I’ll give an extra star for how delicious the crab hush puppies are but that’s about it. Our experience here was mockable it was so bad. It took 3 people to have the courage to dine a chair for us to have a two person chair. They were hostesses yet too shy to ask anyone for a chair back. In the end, we just shared a bench and the chair wasn’t even needed. Then after almost 40 minutes our waitress apologized that she had just barely put in our order because she forgot. We were more than kind and relaxed about it which I guess meant we didn’t deserve any apology or compensation for waiting another half hour just for one appetizer. Still, it was Sunday and we had nothing but time so we were kind. But in the end our order was less than satisfying. It wasn’t even good. The waffle was soggy. The chicken was low quality and hardly seasoned. It was expensive to have to wait for two hours and get almost nothing out of it in the end but a bill for the wasted experience.

Pretty bad service, food was fine but typical overpriced food pawning off as something special, theres a better place next door called eggspectation

Very disappointed in the silver spring restaurant. I paid for chicken and waffles and 4 pc of white meat chicken. Instead I got 3 wings that they called white meat. I hate wings and didn’t know i had the option of asking for breast meat. Blue crab hush puppies were excellent. Not a good value for your money. Manage took $10 off for me .

Attempted to dine here because of all the good reviews. Stopped by on a rainy Monday after work, was seated by the hostess and waited over 15 minutes for someone to even come by and say hi. Got tired of being ignored so I enjoyed the hibachi place right above them.
