Great food, real ingredients, excellent service. We're on vacation and was ready for a palette change from fried seafood but still wanting to enjoy seafood. Had the surf and turf which was served on a sizzling 500°F plate. But I'm jumping ahead, my favorite morsels was the appetizer, bacon wrapped scallops in a Beurre Blanc sauce. The bacon was crisp and the scallops were seared/blackened while still remaining tender. The service was friendly, efficient, on point and readily available for a beginner fine dinning to an experienced white table cloth haute diner.
We really had an enjoyable dinner at Gallagher's on front Street here in slidell. We enjoyed the light and red fish with a side of mushroom brussel sprouts and scalloped potatoes. White staff was really great personable and it felt very private but yet open to the public. Everyone was so nice the food was really really really great
We sat at the bar, because we did not have a reservation. Luke was the gentleman that was bartending/ serving.. Best service we have had at any restaurant this year.. This guy was amazing and friendly.. We will sit at the bar again just to have him as our server.. food was great also..
Very nice atmosphere is perfect for date nights, special occasions, business dinners or just a night out with friends and great food. Service was top notch from wine recommendations to pair with different dishes to keeping your glass full and everyone satisfied. Food was amazing and fresh and came to the table hot. My wife and I ordered blue cakes (crab cakes) for an appetizer and the 11oz filet as an entree and my wife had her filet butterflied and topped with lump crab meat. We ordered merliton dressing and potatoes au gratin as sides. Everything was excellent and I highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was one of my group's three stops for my birthday hop. Apps for the table, drinks and service were perfect. My "birthday cake fois gras" was outstanding. The review is actually for Gallagher's Grill in Covington. I'm not sure how it got attached to Gallagher's on Front, but the menu are the same and first class service. I live in Slidell and get to this restaurant more frequently than Covington. Turtle soup is excellent as are steaks, but my go to is usually Pat's mixed grill of quail and lamb chops.
The staff and service was amazing, the steak is the best steak I have had in recent memory, and the dessert was oh so sweet. The only thing I would say is a slight negative is the echo in the dining area is loud, it was hard to hear the people talking at the table. Of course, I am overly sensitive to noise, so it might not be as bad for someone less sensitive. Overall, still a 10 outta 10!
One of the best steaks I have had! This venue has a great spacious interior. The staff were super friendly and keenly attentive. Of course, the place was also spotlessly clean. The sides were amazing. I had collard greens for the first time. The spinach with cream was epic. As was the sweet potatoes. My friend says it was the best lamb he had eaten. This has a great family feel too. Highly rated this venue and worth a visit.
How have I never eaten here?!?! I have been to events here, and had their catered style buffet food and it was excellent, but actually had dinner here last night. A+. Amazing service. Amazing food. Amazing drinks. This place is the whole package. We will definitely be back! Steak was absolute perfection, exactly how I ordered it cooked.
Tristen and Desiree are amazing!! Such great attention to detail, always with a smile!! They are both such an asset to your team. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Excellent service and food We were in the room behind the entry, it was very quiet and nice. I had the petit filet my husband had the bine in rib eye. Both were prepared perfectly 👌
Wish there was more stars to give. With out a doubt my new favorite place to eat. The steak is cooked to perfection and literally melts in your mouth, the shrimp is wrapped with bacon, sauteed mushrooms like i have never had before, loaded baked potato, potatoes au gratin, grilled asparagus, I mean the side salad was the best I have ever had. The dessert menu is heavenly. If you only eat the oohey gooey the entire expierence and trip is worth it. My momma calls it smear it on ya A** good!
GREAT place to eat!! Reservations are required for dinner and you will easily see why. The food and the service are fabulous! We were there with another couple and enjoyed ourselves. While the prices are not cheap, for the most part, they are very reasonable for the food that you get. My wife and I shared the Surf and Turf, lobster and an 8oz. Filet, with a side of Seafood Mirliton Stuffing and Mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection! The other couple ordered a cup of turtle soup (which wasn't quite as good as usual), pompano in a bag (minus the bag, thank you), and a steak. Other than the soup, everything was really great! Definitely plan on going back, many more times!!
Soooo amazingly good. High quality food. Fancy environment with amazing music and atmosphere. The staff were wonderful and so courteous. Our waiter was prompt and friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and didnt try to oversell. The food! So flavorful and fresh. Well balanced entrees and sides and delightful sounding desserts. Can not wait to have another night there. Definitely recommend for a romantic dinner or just an amazing meal with friends or family.
The food was phenomenal. The service was great. It did take a little bit of time for the food to come out and it was a bit pricey, but man was it worth it! Great way to spend my birthday. You will leave stuffed!
Absolutely, positively delicious food with top notch staff and a beautiful atmosphere. The kabobs were sooooo good!! We'd been told how great this restaurant was, but our experience topped what we expected. Definitely go to Gallagher's if you want a phenomenal meal!
Absolutely wonderful!! I had the red fish Shelia and that sauce was amazing! The shrimp and fries for my son, amazing. The gumbo, was a little heavy on the filet and roux. 5 star experience and it's in Slidell!
Very nice place to dine. Petite filets were cooked perfect Very tender and delicious flavor merliton dressing was great. Egg plant New Orleans was a good starter. Watermelon slide and new fashion drinks were also good.
Celebrated an anniversary here and it was perfect. The food is so good. The service is incredible. Highly recommend.
It can be a bit pricey, but as far as food and service goes, I've never had a bad experience here. All servers are kind and knowledgeable. There isn't many bad choices with the food. If your looking for a good drink there are a lot of options. The bartender recommended an old fashioned with Basil Hayden burbon. It will be my go to drink here. 100% recommended If you like whiskey.
My husband and I had an early Valentine’s dinner tonight. The food was fantastic. Gallagher’s has the best crab cakes. Beth was a wonderful waitress. She anticipated all of our wants and needs. I certainly hope we get her again on our next visit.
Had lunch with my husband on Friday 7/14. We have eaten here numerous times and always enjoyed the food, the service (love Amelia, our waitress) and the atmosphere. This time I ordered the stuffed chicken and it was delicious. Dessert we ordered the bread pudding. It was scrumptious. Going again this Thursday for lunch with my mother
We were a party of 12 celebrating a birthday. It was a mix of 5 kids aged 4-13 and 7 adults. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was outstanding, no waiting, and adequate time between courses not to feel rushed. We had appetizers, mix drinks, salads, soup, entrees, and desert . The food was just delicious not one thing placed on our table was average or mediocre. This restaurant is fine dining service and food without the snobbery. Everyone serving us were friendly, helpful, and just plain nice. Dress is casual. Darius greeted us at the door and was helpful and attentive through the entire meal. He was just so accommodating and friendly. Haley our server was just awesome . The food came out nice and hot, cold foods were cold. Our beverages were constantly refilled everything was incredible. I’d like to thank Darius ,Haley , the Chef , and others for making our night the special celebration we wanted . Great Team Good Job !!!!!!
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. It has a great, relaxed atmosphere, the lighting is low and just has a cool ambiance. The steak was really good and cooked to your liking. Be careful with the sides, they are really good and huge. I wasn't expecting the sweet potato casserole to be so big....but oh man it was good. Great place to visit, a definat place to eat at again.
Took my wife for her birthday and it was absolutely amazing! The food was incredible and the service was top notch. Our waitress Britney and the manager Brandon went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. This is first class dining! Thank y’all for allowing us to end the day on such a high note.
Can’t go wrong with scallops and crab claws. Steaks are good, 9 out of 10 times they cook the steak rare. Bread pudding to finish it all off. Beth is our usual waitress very nice and attentive.
Great place and super sweet staff. The food was also oh so delicious.
This was our first time, it was awesome from the time we walked in. The servers was on it even though it was busy. The only down fall, I ate too much of that hot French bread w/butter lol. We will be back again. Ty from the bottom of our hearts from taking care of my wife birthday
Our first time here. The dishes were exceptional! Make sure you try the Trio! Everyone's dish in our party was loaded with flavor and cooked to perfection. We couldn't help but share a bit with one another. The house Merlot is excellent. The serve and supporting staff was wonderful. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening. We will be back soon.
Great food, me and my girlfriend both were very satisfied with the quality and portions of our meal. We also had excellent customer service, our waitress checked in on us frequently and did a fantastic job recommending food/wine. The manager also checked in on us to make sure we were satisfied. It is a bit pricey, however I think it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or date night.
Took relatives for their anniversary. Service was good. Waitresses were very polite and courteous. We were a table of 4. Comfortable seating, plenty room on table for sides and bread with meal. One got filet and was perfect and the other three had different fish dishes and all were delicious. Atmosphere is nice. We will definitely go back.
This is a really good restaurant! The atmosphere & food are phenomenal. The service is always good & the prices are about average. I recommend any of the seafood. My husband would recommend the filet!
Lunch was perfect! The steak was seasoned well, and cooked exactly as I ordered. The wait staff was attentive and professional. This was a busuness lunch, and we weren't interrupted needlessly. I have a great appreciation for that.
Had an amazing time celebrating my Anniversary here. The food was delicious 😋. Steaks were cooked perfectly, drinks made well, and really a great location. Only wish they had a bit dimmer lighting inside to add to the ambiance, but overall beautiful place and ill definitely return!
Always great service and amazing food. Bread occasionally Forgotten to heat up but thats petty. Still deserves a 5 rating!
The food is delicious, I absolutely love this place. I been to multiple steakhouses of every price Point. This place has my favorite steak and sweet potato casserole. The steak is a reasonable price and everything else is very affordable in steakhouse terms. The fried calamari is also really good. I love getting the food to go when I am unable to dine in. Definitely worth a try
My husband and I decided to visit for a date night. Excellent service and food. Our server, Desiree and bus staff Brennan and Brady were very accommodating, friendly, and attentive! All menu items were available a la carte. We look forward to visiting again soon.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary! We sat at the bar and Robin and Luke took great care of us. The food, drink, atmosphere, and service were spectacular! We will be coming back!! We hope to get Luke and Robin again!
Amazing food, service, and ambience. I had a great time eating such delicious food with my sister's all dressed up.
We sat at the bar and had Luke (fantastic) as our bartender. Drinks was amazing, our steak was cooked perfectly. We will be back and hopefully have him again to!
I Love Gallaghers on Front. Food, Service and Atmosphere is Great. Enjoy going out with friends on their birthdays, and celebrations.
Beth and Tristan were both amazing! My first time ever here and I definitely will be coming back!
We celebrated two birthdays. Beautiful rooms, well controlled sound so that we could talk easily. Service was excellent. The calamari was great. The full group ordered red fish done two ways. All agreed it was the most delicious we'd had in years. Dessert was the oowy gooey, a yummy gift to the birthday celebrants. This is a great place for a special meal.
Where to even begin.... This was the greatest experience of my life. I have never been to a more fulfilling restaurant in my entire life. It almost feels as if it's a sin to call it a "restaurant". It truly felt like home. This "place" doesn't exist on a physical plane, it is more a state of mind. It transcends our reality. Brennan the bread-boy was the greatest server I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. He did everything a customer could ever ask for WITHOUT being told. I've always been a man of darker taste, dark humor, dark women, dark chocolate. So it shall come as no surprise I like my bread dark as well. Brening the bread-bearer, brought out a standard loaf, and graced us with the opportunity to toast it further, I'm not one to decline such a proposition. So naturally, I accepted it. The bread was magnificent, it was perfectly solid and black, the bread-bombarder made our night, and I cannot stress that enough. He talked me through my girl cheating on me by relating to himself. It was such a rough period I was just glad to have someone relate to me. I gave him $30 because he was so great. Mind you, HE ONLY GAVE US THE BREAD and I was so touched by him I felt it necessary to give him the tip. Thank you Gallagers!!!
We always love to see Tristan. We had the pleasure of him being our bartender this evening. We love to sit at the bar and have dinner. The drinks and service were amazing. Food was top notch. We will be back again and again.
Every time we dine at this establishment we are greeted by the most friendly staff. The service is always spot on, the atmosphere is great and of course the food is always delicious. The price is definitely perfect for the food and we are always happy.
We absolutely loved this place! Everything about it was great!!! We had the ribeye served on the 500 degree plate and it was amazing! I highly recommend!
Some meals feed you. Some meals fill you. But every now and then, a meal grabs you by the taste buds, smacks you across the face with flavor, and makes you say, "Lawd have mercy, this is what eating in Louisiana is all about." That was our night at Gallagher's in Slidell. We started like locals do: I had the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, while my grandmother went straight for the turtle soup. Both bowls hit the table with the kind of depth you only get when somebody's been stirring that pot with love, patience, and a wooden spoon seasoned by a hundred Sundays. That gumbo had the holy trinity preaching, and that turtle soup could have converted a non-believer. Then came the knockout round. For me: an 11 oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. For my grandmother: pampano fish with mirliton stuffing. Now listen, I've had a lot of steaks in my life. But this filet? This filet was different. This filet was butter-kissed, seared on a 500-degree plate, and cooked so perfectly it practically sang "When the Saints Go Marching In" with every bite. Melt-in-your-mouth good, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head good. I would've licked the plate clean, but with 500 degrees of molten butter, I'd have left Gallagher's looking like a crawfish boil accident victim. Worth it? Maybe. The pampano and mirliton stuffing? Out. Of. This. World. Seasoned like somebody's MawMaw was back there in the kitchen making sure you didn't leave without remembering what real Louisiana food is supposed to taste like. And then there was Desiree Faith. Let me be clear: the food at Gallagher's was phenomenal, but she was the reason the night became unforgettable. Desiree doesn't just serve. She elevates. She embodies. She executes at a level that turns dinner into an experience and guests into family. Serving, when it's done with this much purpose and precision, is not a job. It's a calling. And Desiree is the benchmark. The gold standard. The one every other server in Louisiana should be taking notes from. She read the table like a seasoned conductor leading an orchestra. Every move, every check-in, perfectly timed. She anticipated needs before they became requests, delivered everything with warmth and grace, and carried herself with the kind of presence that makes you feel cared for, seen, and valued. She wasn't just part of the meal. She was the heart of it. Exceptional doesn't even begin to describe it. She made such an impression on me that when the check was signed and the plates cleared, I hugged her. That is the kind of impact she leaves. Gallagher's should be proud beyond words to have her. She is not just a rock star, she is the lighthouse, the benchmark, the living definition of impeccable service. Gallagher's isn't just a restaurant. It's a front-row ticket to Louisiana flavor, hospitality, and soul. You leave full, you leave happy, and you leave knowing you've just been part of something special.
Tristan you were amazing as usual! Great drinks and great company for dinner at the bar! Tristan, you always make our experience special! Thank you!
A Gem That Exceeds All Expectations! I rarely give five stars, but this place absolutely earned every one of them. What could have been just another neighborhood spot turned out to be an exceptional dining experience that’s stayed with us long after the meal ended. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish that came to our table was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor and hot.. You could taste the quality of the ingredients and the care in the execution—this wasn’t just good food, it was the kind of cooking that makes you slow down and savor every bite. Each plate showed a level of attention you’d expect from a much more expensive establishment. But what really elevated the entire experience was the service. Haley and Brady were amazing. The staff struck that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious. Haley and Brady clearly took pride in what they were serving and genuinely seemed to care that we were having a great time. Those little touches—the perfectly timed check-ins, the helpful recommendations, the warm hospitality—turned a great meal into a memorable evening. I can’t wait to come back, and I’ve already been recommending it to everyone I know. We had the Oysters Pablo, Filet, Seafood Mirliton Dressing, Baked Potato, Crispy Redfish. Everything was delicious.
AMAZING food, excelent service, wonderful decor and atmosphere, though the bartender was a bit rude and kept rushing us today. Other than that, this place was great. Thank you!! I will be coming back. (Side note, dont come here expecting a cheap meal, its a fairly expensive place for Slidell, but the food, service and atmosphere make up for it!)
First, thank you for pushing our reservation forward. The food was delicious and the wait staff (especially Donny) was wonderful. The mirliton dressing would make Grandma proud. The crispy redfish was tasty. I highly recommend the white chocolate bread pudding, be sure you get the sauces on the side so you can enjoy both! Thank you for a great dinner!
Last minute date night decided to try this place. My mother had been to the location in Covington and liked it. Let me start by saying the food is excellent and that's all that really matters. They bring you bread, which is always a good thing. We had crab claws and a cup of mushroom & brie soup to start....delicious. We had the lamb chops with creamed spinach as the side & the pompano topped with lump crab meat citrus butter sauce with brussels as the side....delicious. The atmosphere was good and the service was good.....not great. The restaurant was clean and open spaced. Nice circular bar with cool lighting. White linen table, sides are sold separately. I feel like the server could've been better, but she did her job. Kind of went through the motions. It was the end of a Saturday night, though. I wait tables, too, so I get it. It's hard to bring your best to every table. So good service, I give her a pass, I still tipped 20 %. 4, not 5 stars because we've been out to many nice places to eat in & out of Slidell. I just feel like for 150 dollars for 2 people, there's much better places to eat. Overall, I liked it but would try other places before I go back.
The steaks are great, I recommend the cowboy steak and the Brussel sprouts. Steak cooked right. Not much of a wine person, but they have a variety of wines. Had the new fashioned, but I prefer the old fashioned. Their Italian paloma was great. Service was on point, and the staff was very attentive. Price wise it's on the higher end but worth it.
Lizzy was an excellent server. The atmosphere was romantic enough for an anniversary dinner. The cocktails were delish. The food was hit and miss, not everything was hot, the ribeye was tough but the filet was butter tender. The seafood milirton was 10/10 as well as the creme brule, it was perfection!
Very good higher end restaurant in Slidell. I enjoyed it. Everything that we had was pretty good. The turtle soup was mediocre and the Quail was lacking a little in flavor. The steak was delicious The two fish plates were very good. The dessert was super sweet and perfect for sharing with two are more. We also loved the $15 cork fee. We were able to have a awesome bottle of wine with our dinner. #Geauxeat
My wife and I enjoy Gallaghers although I wish they would change a few things. The Potatoes Au Gratin are more like baked potatoes with a half of an attempt to melt some cheddar on top of them. They need to be Gratinated. The wine selection is on par with the price point of the restaurant but the "wine service" just isn't. Having a glass of Napa Cab served at 75 degrees is just deflating. Ditch the hot wine guys and pull some of that temperature off of the grapes already guys.
Gave this location a try this week. We visit the Covington location frequently. The atmosphere is nice and they have a nice bar. The drinks were excellent. The food wasn't as impressive as we are used to with Gallaghers. I ordered a petite filet medium rare and got medium well, nearly well. It was fine because the very nice (I assume manager) had me another one made. My partners fish didn't look appetizing at all and the portion was very small, but he said it was good. Creamed spinach was amazing but potatos au gratin left a lot to be desired. For the price tag I don't think the food was up to par.
Went for a financial meeting. After presentation was served a pre selected meal. Because of the number of attendees the staff were rushed to serve us because the restaurant was now open for regular customers. Maybe would have enjoyed it better if my first time there would have been a regular customer.
The portions seemed smaller, creme brullet was so small in cup it there was hardly any creme. Told waitress and she said mgr. Said thanks we will make sure it does not happen again. Thought it would be taken off Bill, but did not happen
Food, wine and cocktails we're excellent! However although we complained twice to manager the man greeting and seating patrons continued to not wear his mask properly! As he kept walking near our table we were uncomfortable.
The quality of the food was excellent. It's a good basic staple restaurant with American food. It's a good place for business lunches, safe options for most people and the folks who are not interested in adventurous food. Service was great.
Awesome date night spot! We got Oysters Pablo for an appetizer, which was wonderful. My wife ordered the 8 oz filet, which came out on a sizzling plate of hot butter. The filet was so tender and flavorful. I ordered the crispy redfish covered with brown butter sauce, almond shavings, and lump crab. It too was amazing. Only thing we weren’t fond of were the sides we got, the sweet potato casserole and garlic mashed potatoes. They weren’t terrible, but also not as great as the entree (hence the 4 stars). Will definitely be back!
First, thank you for pushing our reservation forward. The food was delicious and the wait staff (especially Donny) was wonderful. I highly recommend the white chocolate bread pudding, be sure you get the sauces on the side so you can enjoy both! Thank you for a great dinner!
I’m happy to have discovered this restaurant. We were not able to make reservations but the host was impressive by unexpectedly preparing for our arrival. All of the food items had great flavor. From the sides to the main entree. Don’t expect the oyster to come on a shell, that was the only disappointment on the food. Service was not bad but also nothing to write home about. Great for a date night or business meeting.
I had the Ahi tuna on a few pieces of Lettuce or arugula. I think I had 5 thin pieces of tuna. Ounce wise, a pricey selection for a lunch item. But what the heck. I am on weight watchers. No points for lunch. I came home and murdered a nice bowl of homemade golden lentils I made earlier this week with bits of chicken breast pieces in it. I went to the Slidell spot because my bankers were so kind to ask me to lunch. Great for that . It was my first time eating at Gallaghers since he had the place on highway 25 years ago outside covington and folsom. It was a fun lunch. Service was wonderful. I hope to see Amelia one day.
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. We visited the other location and had a great experience so we decided to try the one closer to home. The ambiance is great. The restaurant is clean and has a beautiful setup. A romantic vibe for couples. The hostess greeted us with a smile and seated us right away. The server was not very friendly, she didn't smile, she was short with her responses, and she was almost walking away before we could ask a question. I told her we were there celebrating a birthday, and she said, "Okay, what's your side?" Very dry... The guy who gives you drinks, bread, and help in the dining area was extremely friendly and very attentive. He was so good, we left him a tip and he was definitely grateful. We observed the other server and actually thought of swapping out😝 The food was delicious. There was an error with mybsteak, but they corrected it quickly. I wanted medium, and they gave me medium well. But once corrected, it was delicious and tender. I also had the lobster tail. It was big and juicy. I enjoyed that a lot. We had the fleur-de-lis shrimp, now that was delicious, I could definitely order those to go. My husband had the lamb and quail. He said the quail tasted kinda fresh, but he enjoyed the lamb. We had the creamy spinach and sweet potato cassarole. Nothing to shout out about, just ok. So ny husnad got his ooey gooey with ice cream with a candle. She sat it in front of him, said happy birthday really dry and walked away. I left her a tip bc she worked, but she didn't get what I was willing to give bc she didn't make the experience delightful. Will I be back? Sure, but I'll make sure she's not our server
Our food was way too salty. We had to scrape off the seasoning on the outside of it in order to eat it. Very nice atmosphere. Didnt like that just anyone off the street could come in and dine with a t-shirt and flip flops on. Didn't like that we had to stare at dirty feet while we tried to enjoy our iceberg wedge salad, bread & butter.
Service and atmosphere great. Sadly no vegetarian options. Not one. Not even a simple pasta. I watched my table enjoy their plates. I had lettuce used for garnish and a side of potatoes. I'm really surprised. It is 2021 after all.
Had a party of 25+ this weekend. The waitress didn't full drinks or got what we ask for if it was the busboy job. So we waited long periods of times in between refill even though we inquire to the waitress only to get the answer someone taking care of it.... it just seem like since the tip was already included on bill not as much effort was there. Maybe because of the Large party this is first time had to deal with the service being as was. But is one of the best steak in the area.
Knowing we were coming in with a party of 5, we called ahead to make a reservation. The gentleman on the phone was very polite, and we made a reservation for 8 PM. We arrived right on time and had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, which was fine - we were told guests were just lingering a bit longer than usual, which is completely understandable. We waited an additional 10 minutes after being seated to receive water glasses (for 4 out of 5 members of our party) and menus (for all 5 of us), which were not filled with water until several more minutes had passed. The waiter we had was very cold to us and never offered a wine menu. He was incredibly inattentive, despite only having 1-2 other tables for the duration of our experience. For the vast majority of our nearly 2-hour experience, he did not speak to us. Everything took a long, long time, including the complimentary bread and butter, the salads, and especially the meal itself (over an hour from being seated at our table). The plating of the food was unimpressive at best and baffling at worst, including one salad at our table being served on a cheap-looking, round clear glass plate that visibly did not match the rest of the dishes in service. Considering the price point for the restaurant ($8 for meager salads, $18 for our cheapest entree, and $8 sides a la carte), which resulted in a total check of nearly $200 for our table before tip, we were all extremely disappointed in the experience. We will not be returning to this restaurant, nor can we in good conscience recommend anyone else try it either. The taste of the food was, mostly though with exceptions, good, but the plating was sloppy and/or and there were elements of many dishes that were off in some way or another. Overall, there are many restaurants in Slidell with a much lower cost and a much more attentive waitstaff where food that is just as tasty (or better) can be acquired in a much more reasonable time frame. As for meeting a chef or a manager... not a thing, even on a Saturday night. I sincerely hope, based on the reviews we read that led us to walking through the doors of this restaurant, that our experience was a huge fluke. However, based on a good, long period of observing other tables around us, I can't personally claim to have any faith in that.
Went on a date night with my husband. We were seated right away. Our server was great. Started off with an excellent glass of Moscato. My husband and I ordered a caprese salad to split, the redfish Sheila (a special for the night) and the crispy redfish. The caprese was great. We were off to a good start with the wine and caprese. Then the bread came. It smelled delicious but it honestly tasted like day old toasted french bread. It wasn't good and was dry and hard. Our main dishes arrived. The crispy redfish was ok and edible. The redfish Sheila was very undercooked. It was redfish topped with crabcake. The thickness of the crab cake stacked ok top made it impossible to have a nice cooked the whole way through meal. We also ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes that tasted awful. I think a whole container of garlic powder was dumped in. A gentleman asked us how our food was and we both indicated we didn't care for it. He walked away with no further questions. Our server came back and asked a few questions then and cleared the table. She did remove the one meal and potatoes off the receipt and offered us dessert. We declined. She apologized over and over. The gentleman who asked us about our meal earlier then came back to the table and said we hoped we'd try again (which we would in the spirit of second chances) but then ended his statement with you really should order this menu item instead of what you did. I was like what??? It was undercooked and it's my poor choice that I chose something off your specials menu. Clearly management needs to get it together as well as get their kitchen in line. Because of the amazing waitress, they get 2 stars.
this place is good, not great. the steaks are nothing special. not a good value at all, will not be back. it also took over an hour to get our food. fortunately, most of our group wasn't in a hurry, but we did all feel that was excessive for this price point. bright spot- the service was excellent, our waitress was very pleasant and answered all our questions, A+ service.
Our party of 4 had a decent experience. The server was attentive and sweet. The cocktails were chilled and delicious. The bread and butter were served in a timely manner. My dish seemed to be the only problem with the meal. I ordered the Pecan Crusted Catfish Meuniere. When it arrived the dish was full of water not butter. So the catfish was soggy, not dry and crusty. There were plenty of pecans which made the dish edible. I was not a fan.
The quality of this place has definitely changed. My wife and I have been many times over the past couple years and drive an hour to get there. Our last 2 visits have been less than stellar. The service has been pretty poor. Having been a waiter myself, I tend to make excuses for the waiters, but they are not that busy and a customer should never have to be without something to drink especially when they are in the middle of the meal. My glass was bone dry and several people including our waitress walked by several times. I had to finish my meal without something to drink. My steak was overcooked and my wife's steak was undercooked. I think they got them backwards. I don't think I will go back, pay way too much money to have food and particularly service like that.
The service was great. The food and atmosphere were dated and underwhelming. I had lamb chops that were salted and peppered but that's about it. It was very bland. The quail tasted like boiled chicken. It felt like I was eating a meal from the WW2 era. Maybe that's why the majority of customers were middle aged and older. Definitely not worth the price.
Wait staff were good. Atmosphere was mediocre. Started with a fly in my water glass, brush it off and moved on to a cup of Turtle soup which was pretty good. Main course was Baked Redfish Shelia. Had a taste of the sauce and an edge piece of the fish and thought, ok, this is gonna be great! WRONG. Forked towards the middle of the fish dish and found the entire fish was as RAW as if I just caught it out of Lake P. 10 min prior. Wait staff apologized and offered a dessert on the house, I was put off at that point but my company decided on the white chocolate bread pudding which I'm told was pretty good. Hopefully they just had a 1 off night but for a restaurant with their reputation and pricing to serve what they did. I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
We ate there in Oct. and it was very good. However last nite we had an extremely bad service and meal. Waited nearly 20 min before server even came to table. My fish entre was so overcooked even a steak knife couldn't cut it. Sent it back and in less than 5 min. was given the same overcooked fish only with more sauce and crab meat. Both the waitress and manager knew of the problems and never corrected it or tried to compensate the horrible meal. Will never go back there again.
Everything was great until I woke up sick at 3 am after eating dinner here. I had the filet and so did another person in my party and we are both experiencing the symptoms of food poisoning. They don't have a voice-mail for me to leave a message otherwise I would have done that. I'd really like to speak to a manager though. We paid way too much money just to be served bad steak.
Met 3 friends for dinner on Saturday night. We had reservations. Our 1st mistake we decided to sit at the bar for dinner. I have never in my life been treated so terribly or insulted like I was last night by any bar tender. My 2nd mistake was not leaving immediately. This the first time I have ever been treated this way and the first time I have never left a tip on an $80 bill. I have traveled all over the USA and the world and have absolutely never been treated so poorly. So if you still feel the need to frequent this restaurant DO NOT SIT AT THR BAR. The bartenders are surly and certainly don’t understand how to serve their visitors.
Didn't even get to go to this location because they were so rude on the phone. Unbelievable!! So I gave a call to Benjamin and he fit me and my wife for that night. I literally wrote this review after we got done eating dinner at the Mandeville location and i left an outstanding review on their site. The Slidell location needs some work.
Met 3 friends for dinner on Saturday night. Me and three other ladies had reservations at the bar. We were all so excited to see each other and share conversation. In the very beginning there was one bartender that appeared bothered by us, we all can have a bad day. When in the service industry I was taught to wear a smile and treat the customer with respect and dignity. I’m not sure what went wrong, but we 4 ladies were not treated with respect. I’ve never encountered such disrespect in a restaurant anywhere in the World. I’m truly disappointed and it hurts me more because I have always recommended this restaurant - the food is fabulous, but the bartenders need training in customer service. I believe in supporting my hometown restaurants and businesses.
Noisy. Waitress was nice. Service appeared to be rushed. Everyone in a hurry. No one explained any of the specials. My husbands andouille and chicken gumbo had a brunt taste with flecks of burned roux in it. Our friends seafood gumbo was much too salty. They both sent it back. Overall the food was mediocre for the price. The bread pudding was good but very sweet. The main seasoning ingredient was “a lot of salt”. Noisy atmosphere. This was on a Thursday night. The restaurant was very busy.
Valentine Day ruined because a reservation I made here by phone a month ago, was not in their system when my husband and I arrived for dinner! The hostess, did not even check to see if the name was misspelled or entered incorrectly. He definitely is not customer friendly.
