We've gone here off and on over the years, and the quality has really been better lately. Last time in I had Mongolian beef that was great. My wife had a wonton soup that was loaded with chicken, shrimp, pork, and veggies. She took home what she couldn't finish and it was enough for us to split it for dinner.

vegans & vegetarians: They have Singapore noodles now even though it's not shown in print. Try them with veggies & tofu but hold the egg. As always, don't forget to request extra pow 🌶‼️

Haven't been here for years. Restaurant is extremely tired. But very very very CLEAN. I had a large Hot and Sour and steamed egg rolls. Absolutely the best. My husband had Mongolian Beef looked so good I grabbed a piece of beef. Best I have ever had, my husband thought so too. If you can get past the tired look of the place, the food was worth it.

My family and I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The service was great the workers were very kind. This was the best Chinese food we have had in years. The atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. Definitely recommend trying it out! It will not disappoint!!

Wow!! This place is killer. I only mildly like Hot & Sour soup, but we tried it based on so many of the Yelp recommendations. It was fantastic! Spicy too. We also got the veggie fried rice, Schezwan Chicken, and cream cheese wantons. Everything was great (though we found the chicken to be a little dry), but the sauce it was in was delicious. They gave us complimentary sesame balls for dessert (my husband's favorite), and they were perfect. The staff couldn't be nicer! The service was great and they were so genuine. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. I think we have found our new go-to Chinese restaurant.

Such friendly staff, amazing food!! Fresh, hot, and full of flavor! We visit Golden Fu Wah every September when we come to Santa Cruz and we're never disappointed! Chicken chow mein isn't greasy like some places and the chicken is good and not gray like other places. Pork fried rice has that special slightly cinnamon taste that most places are lacking and that brings me back. The rice is fresh and fluffy too! The sweet and sour chicken is something to dream about until the next time we go! Crispy, not too tangy and quality pieces of chicken. So easy to demolish everything in one sitting, but we look forward to the leftovers! See you next September Golden Fu Wah...nothing here in Sacramento compares!

We ended up coming to Santa Cruz when it was rainy so Chinese food sounded great and golden fu wah delivered 100! First of all, this place is cute, with hanging planters, nice windows, and cozy tables. The service was fabulous with the most kind and gracious server - my daughter even said she wished she could give her $100 because she was so kind! We ordered pot stickers and the #2 family meal (soup, egg rolls, fried shrimp, fried rice, chicken chow neon, schezuan chicken, and sweet and sour pork) along with some tea and hot sake. All in all the tab was $55 which is so reasonable for a family of 4! Everything was fresh and delicious, with a good balance of flavor. Overall, I'm so glad we stumbled across this place and would happily come again when in the area!

Great food! We came here on a whim and sure happy we did. Our softball team was visiting for a tournament and Golden Fu Wah was able to accommodate our large party right away. The servings were great portions and so good!

I had the most amazing experience with Jenny who is such a sweetheart! The food was amazing, fresh, tasty, affordable, and arrived quickly. I came to visit with the recommendation from a friend who said that this is her go-to Chinese place in the neighborhood and I am so happy I came because I don’t think I’ve ever had such great service before. I got the wor wonton soup and the combination B plate which were both amazing and I recommend it 10000%

5 Stars – Best Orange Chicken of My Life 🍊🐔🔥 Golden Fu Wah didn’t just serve orange chicken… They served the gold standard. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in that perfect sweet-savory sauce that makes your eyes roll back a little with each bite. I’ve had orange chicken from all over—and this? Best. Ever. No contest. If you’re craving the real deal, this is the spot. No hype. Just flavor. #OrangeChickenGOAT #GoldenFuWahWins #FiveStarsAndStickyFingers 💙🥢🔥

My family has been coming to Golden Fu Wah since they first opened. Jenny always has a welcoming smile for us! The food is delicious and made with care. It’s nice to be able to get consistent Chinese food to eat for here or to go. We love the decor and flowers too. Always a treat!!

Edit for early 2025, golden Fu Wah is no more. They have retired in the face of the difficult business environment and been replaced with a sushi place. I will truly and deeply miss this long-time local spot. This place is charming and a local mainstay for me. They have a hot&sour soup that's the very best thing for congestion or a case of the winter blues where the spring rolls are crisp, crunchy, and light. They also have some lovely vegetarian options including pot-stickers, sweet basil tofu (served in sizzling cast-iron pot), and the usual staples like kung-pao or mo-pao tofu. My non-veggi friend speak very well of it as well. Jenny has been there forever and provides very friendly and familiar service. She'll treat you so much like family you might get told to eat your vegetables. :-)

Just enjoyed a great meal here. All the portions were generous, the food was fresh, vegetables cooked crisp, the sauces light and flavorful, and the wait staff is attentive. The ambiance is simple not over decorated but with an elegance. What is amazing is I'd expect this from a restaurant in a higher price range and this restaurant was moderately priced and very good all round. And the Asian fusion on the menu is the bonus. Don't like Won Ton soup? Then have Miso instead. Not up for pot stickers? Then have spring rolls. Nice blend of Chinese, Japanese and a little South Asian. I hear they are adding a sushi bar next. I will go back again.

My favorite Chinese food in the Bay Area! Really great tofu and veggie options. I had to move away from Santa Cruz to the peninsula briefly and could not find any Chinese food even remotely as good as this. Had to drive back to Santa Cruz once in a while just to get it! It’s that good!

This restaurant has some great Chinese food. I can not speak for the meat dishes. But their vegetarian dishes are great! All the food was amazing. But let me just say the garlic eggplant is out of this world. It's so wonderfully fried and crunchy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. Very nice staff. I have heard that the only thing on the vergitarian part of the menu that is a little odd is the basil tofu. But there are so many great dishes. If you are vegetarian and looking for a good Chinese place this is it! And I can only imagine the meat dishes are great. The table next to us sure seemed to think so.

Service was excellent, the food was incredibly delicious. I got the lunch special which came with lots of food for a reasonable price. All the food tastes of high quality, and the flavors are delicious. I will be returning soon; I highly recommend it if you are craving Chinese food!

OMG!!!! Eat here! This place is amazing! They serve both Chinese and Japanese food and you will not be disappointed. We ordered the Dragon roll, spicy tuna roll, Szechwan green beans, spicy edamame, and Mongolian beef. It was a ton of food, and the price was excellent for Santa Cruz County! We took home enough to make a second meal. The service was great and the atmosphere casual snd friendly. Worth. Every. Penny.

The Szechuan Chicken is absolutely fantastic! Perfectly crispy outside, tender juicy inside. The flavor is incredible. Might be my new favorite dish in town. Our order was so thoughtfully packed. Everything arrived hot and crispy (sweet and sour pork separate from sweet and sour sauce). The sweet and sour was wrapped and rubber banded for spill prevention. I'll be going here from now on 🙌🙌🙌

I ❤️ Golden Fu Wah. They have the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. The service is excellent and the staff are very nice. The menu includes lots of delicious pescatarian options. My favorite is the salt and pepper shrimp. It was genuinely just the best shrimp I've ever had in my life. And somehow their prices are still very reasonable especially for the amazing quality of food you're eating.

Golden Fu Wah has some of the BEST chinese food I have ever tasted in my life! On top of that, you get lots of quality/authentic food at an affordable price with some of the kindest people working there. I always have some really nice conversations with Jenny and the other waiters there, and they are ALWAYS making sure we are comfortable and well served! I love getting the combination B, which is a blend of Szechuan chicken, fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken with a side of Hot and Sour soup. All leaving me full and VERY satisfied with enough to take home for delicious leftovers. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem and has earned all the love it gets!

Amazing authentic Cantonese style Chinese food! Great service and the portions were generous. A real authentic restaurant run by a great staff. The orange chicken was very popular with my daughters! Chicken was juicy and the sauce had the perfect flavoring. Will definitely come back. Parking in the back lot was easy and large.

Decided to get a late dinner of Sizzling Rice soup, General Tao's Chicken and steamed rice. Delicious, tasty, fresh. Soup's chicken and shrimp were tender, veggies were fresh crisp, and broth was just right, so soothing. General Tao's Chicken sauce was flavorful while batter was just right. Friendly servers, Jenny and Sophia, made us feel like they welcomed us into their home. Wished I had been more hungry cuz the variety of tofu, salt and pepper, fish, and black bean dishes on the menu were tempting. Thanks so much for the yummy food and friendly experience, Jenny and Sophia!

This is my FAVORITE Chinese Food, possibly ever--run by Chris and Jenny, who always greet me with great service & a warm hello. I have been going here for many many years. Being Asian, I grew up with nothing but Chinese Food as a kid, and this restaurant is the most memorable one to me in terms of food taste and quality. My favorite dishes include: Mongolian beef--so tender to where you don't even need a knife to cut into pieces! The brown rice is always so fresh, fluffy, & soft. Their Hot and Sour Soup is super tasty. I have even brought my vegan friend here, who really enjoyed their food. Try it for yourself! Delicious!

Golden Fu has officially become one of my top favorite spots for Chinese food. It’s a Chinese and Japanese style restaurant, and depending on what you’re in the mood for, they’ll prepare it accordingly. Just let them know what you're ordering and they’ll take care of it. The interior is really nice, clean, inviting, and spacious. They have a full sushi bar and a mix of both Chinese and Japanese style seating, which adds a cool vibe to the place. We went with the Chinese side of the menu and ordered chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, orange chicken, and sweet and sour pork. The food did not disappoint. The orange chicken and sweet and sour pork were super fresh and had that perfect crispy texture on the outside, with none of that chewy or soggy bite you sometimes get elsewhere. The sauces were flavorful without being overly sweet or heavy. The chicken chow mein was loaded with tender chicken, crunchy veggies, and perfectly cooked noodles that weren’t greasy at all. The flavor was balanced and savory, not too salty or bland. The pork fried rice was probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The rice was fluffy and full of flavor, with just the right amount of pork and egg mixed in. You could taste the wok style cooking in every bite. The staff was also amazing. I ended up ordering some extra food to go and they were super quick and friendly about it. You can tell they care about good service and quality food. Overall, it was a great experience. Great food, great service, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to again soon.

Golden Fu Wah is consistently the best Chinese and Chinese-American in the county. I have never been disappointed by my experience here, and I am often impressed by the quality of the ingredients used to prepare dishes. On our most recent visit, we ordered orange chicken with broccoli, vegetable chow nein, and hot & sour soup. The chicken was tender and moist with sauce that was flavorful but not overly sweet. I could tell that real orange peel / zest had been used to flavor the sauce, not just sugar like budget places. The soup was perfect. Just the right consistency, not too watery or too thick. The spice hits on the first spoonful, and it stays with you without detracting from the flavor of the dish. I highly recommend Golden Fu Wah for a big lunch or a ... well, a big dinner, too. The portions are generous, and even though I'm a big eater, I always have leftovers. Be sure to ask for Sing if you call to place an order. She is super friendly, attentive, and always eager to make sure that customers feel welcome.

We visit this place frequently -really glad that we have a nice Chinese food place here. Many of their dishes that I tried so far had been great. Service is attentive. Another items that I highly recommend is Chicken Eggplant and Chinese Black Bean Fish. You may have had enough of the usual dishes like: Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef.... You can still get those. But, be a little adventurous, get Cumin Beef and I hope you will become a fan. The ambiance is nostalgic.

We came in on a weeknight and got a lot of dishes (bean paste buns, potstickers, green beans, sweet basil chicken, veggie chow mein)! Each of them were very tasty. I’m unsure where to start, because there are so many standout and memorable moments it’s hard to know where to begin. The beginning, then, is perhaps the best place. I met my handsome date and we were immediately given menus and glasses of water. The waitress was eager to take our order but we let her know we needed time to peruse the robust menu before deciding what to order. There were a myriad of options and combinations, and we were told that all of the produce and meat/tofu was organic, which gave the place a charm and spoke to the care the owners’ held in the quality of food they provided. We ordered the szechuan green beans, basil tofu, mapo tofu, and sides of rice. The dishes came out quickly and were fresh, hot, and flavorful. We languished in each dish, which was perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. Because of the large portion sizes we weren’t able to finish our food, and the very kind women owner boxed everything up for us and presented us with fortune cookies. She also told us that she would give us two sesame black bean balls the next time we returned. The staff are incredibly kind, patient, thoughtful, and genuine. I will definitely return to Golden Fu Wah for my next tasty Chinese dinner.

Two restaurants in one! Golden Fu Wah Chinese food is some of the best in the Santa Cruz area. Easily in the top 3 overall. Tastes great, good texture, quality ingredients, good portions. Fuji Sushi is definitely my overall top pick in Santa Cruz county for sushi and Japanese food. The fish quality is way above most places around here and one of the most diverse menus. The miso soup is the best i've ever had. The staff are also great and helpful! The only point i knock off is because sometimes the inside of the restaurant has a weird smell that isn't from the food.

The general Tso's chicken is possibly the best I've ever had, large chunks of chicken. Sweet and sour soup was good. The egg rolls were a big let down. It didn't say on the menu that entrees don't come with rice which was disappointing as I ordered delivery but all and all a good experience

Came here for a late dinner. I was glad they were open. The food was pretty good and the dining was homey. Started with wonton soup which was simple and the wontons were made in house and not frozen. The large plates were as their name a great portion. They came with steamed broccoli which was cooked a little under which I appreciated. The ginger beef had fresh ginger and a good amount of it. We definitely had a lot of leftovers.

Found a hidden Gem! Many good reasons to dine-in or take-out at Golden Fu Wah: 1. You are greeted with a warm welcome. 2. Excellent service. They cater to your needs, make recommendations and check if everything is okay multiple times, and box left-overs. 3. This place serves many vegetarian dishes as part of their standard menu. 4. Quiet place with soothing music. 5. Serving portions are decent, keep that in mind before ordering. Don't let the facade drive you away!

I ordered a variety of items from Golden Fu Wah, and while the portion sizes were quite genera, unfortunately this place didn't quite hit for me. Nothing tasted quite right – either too bland, or one ingredient in each dish that didn’t taste right. For example, the roll was a bit mushy, as was the pork bun. I'm not sure I'd return, but it mostly scratched the itch as a whole.

I’ve come to Golden Fu Wah for years for their Won Ton Soup. 1st time after merger old owners still around and soup still great. Today I went, new people, and soup didn’t contain chicken, shrimp, or bok choy (only pork, broccoli and the wontons. Very disappointed. Won’t go back.
