We went to Cliff's Elbow Room with my brother & sister in law . The food is delicious. Staff was friendly and even joked around with us. Great selection of food and drinks. I highly recommend this restaurant. Comfortable relaxing atmosphere and reasonable prices. Definitely going back.
Tad and I love it. Outrageous, delicious dinner! Wonderful, friendly service by Nancy. The porterhouse and seafood platter were superb! Excellent coffee and dessert. We return again!! ❤❤
My type of spot... little hole in the wall with the best steaks... i had the porterhouse and it was perfect... don’t be fooled though... more people then you would think know about this spot. This little room packs out... so beat the crowd and head in for an early dinner or u can forget about a seat.
Captain Paul & I had the Most Delicious Duck Dinner! The Portions were Large (Having a Second dinner)!! And the Service was Wonderful! Our Server was Anthony & he was the most Kindest Server! We’ll be Back
Been going there for 35 years Still one of the best steaks out there And the most unique baked clams ever
Steaks, Porterhouse, Filet Mignon, Burgers, Clams Casino, Clamp on½shell, shrimp cocktail, salad, just really good food & for many many years. You just can't go wrong at the Elbow Room. Great Staff too, One of my all time favorites by far.
Great place on the East End for a hand-made burger cooked to perfection which came with delicious french fries that had no evidence whatsoever of any oil on them. Same for the onion rings ordered. Would definitely stop here again on my next trip out east
The best steak in town. We travel from south shore LI for their steak. The marinade is unique and yes the ride is worth it. They service was great on a Sat night 7pm
I had the Filet Mignon, was amazing, cut and texture like butter! The chocolate cake was very tasty. Had 2 Valentine Mule drinks, sooo good. What a cozy place with amazing food.
It's not the Elbow Room I remember from my days in Dutch Harbor Alaska, but I have to say l like the place, and I'll definitely go back.
Have been going to this group of Elbow room restaurants for over 58. Years. Seafood is great. The place is known for the marinated steak. Baked clams, salad with house dressing and marinated porterhouse steak. Just the place to go. You will not regret. Save room for dessert.
It's been a minute since my wife & I have been to the establishment. We moved to northeastern Florida ( St.Johns county) and decided to go sight seeing on both the sout & north forks of Long Island. So my wife suggested , how about Cliff's !!! Say no more... Everything we ate was as if we never left... brought back great memories!! Thank you
If you love meat, you will Love the Elbow Room. Old school vibe. Not quiet. Not spacious. Not fancy. Great steak. Nice steamers. Try the sweet potato fries with cinnamon butter--transformational. :)
Filet mignon w/fries was delicious, great cocktails. Classic family restaurant ambiance & service. Neighboring table thought the soy marinade was salty, our table didn't have it.
We go here every year when we go out to the farms for Apple and pumpkins. The porterhouse steak is amazing, big juicy and cooked perfect. Prices are great for the food you get. Def a worthwhile trip here esp at the end of a day at the farms.
Enjoyed our dinner at the Elbow Room. Steaks were perfectly marinated and prepared and the LI Duck was a treat and delicious. Love the Elbow Room.
Sorry this review is long. This place Was great! So if you are looking up places to eat, this is a place you wanna try. Definitely. I wish I took photos :( I got the fried softshell crab. Even though I think this place is kinda a steak place. Bit it was soooooo good. And you get 2 whole crabs. NOT a skimpy kind of place. I also recommend getting a baked sweet potato or fries because it comes with this sweet cinnamon butter sauce and omg it's so good I even tried to make it at home and it wasn't the same. Definitely not your typical "maple mayo" most places have. My sister got the surf and turf, I can't eat a whole steak so I tried hers and it it was really good. Both her steak and lobster were cooked ON POINT. My fiancé got the cliffs steak sandwich. It is messy but good. You kind of have to eat it like a hot open. P.S. there is no elbow room
Cliff's is the best. I absolutely love eating here. We try and go once every couple of months, if not more. The portions are fantastic and its worth the drive. Don't miss the Porterhouse!
Have not t been there for more then a year. But still same great quality and great service. Great steaks and sea food. A bit high end priced but worth every bite.
Excellent marinated porterhouse steak. We have made the journey yearly, usually on our way back from Orient. Although, the last two years we have come just for the delicious meal. We also enjoy the salad with the house dressing. We always leave with some steak, more than enough to eat. Even our pomeranian gets to enjoy the two bones left after we have our leftovers at home. Never disappoints. Waitstaff is also very pleasant & attentive. Highly recommend!!!
My husband and I love coming to this place. The food is ALWAYS amazing and the service is as well! I have a food allergy and the waitress was super accomodating and gave me options so I could enjoy my dining experience. We definitely will be coming back here as soon as possible! :)
Wife and I went out to lunch I had ordered the porterhouse steak that was cooked to perfection highly recommended and now I know why they call it the elbow room limited space
The food was amazing!!! I had the marinated NY Shell Steak mmm good. Our bartender Jacquie was so nice she made a great skinny margarita! We will definitely be going back again.
Good food. Excellent marinated steaks Their roiled fish platter was very good
As long time customer. It is great! Whenever we come up to NY, we make the trip out to the Original Elbow Room.
Marinated 24 oz t-bone was delicious, clam chowder was great as well. Our waitress was friendly and outgoing. Overall a superb experience. I would highly recommend to anyone.
The elbow Room is very special! They make the BEST steak on LI! It’s our go to when we r near Riverhead! Everyone is so nice and polite! Judie and Bobbi
The Elbow Room has been my #1 eating establishment for 30+ years. I now live in Florida and recently flew up to Long Island to visit my sister. While there I took a ride to The Elbow Room to enjoy a serving of their famous “Stuffed Baked Clams”. Oh they were soooo good. Just like I remembered them. I wish my visit would have left me enough time to enjoy a full meal but one thing I am sure of and that is the Marinaded Porterhouse steak is the best you will ever eat. I can also recommend the Lobster Tails as they are fresh and sweet at all times. Years ago on a Saturday night, we would wait at the bar along with 50 or more other couples and enjoy the music and the local conversations. The atmosphere was friendly like everyone was family. The Elbow Room was quaint and cozy with only 20 tables at most. The waitresses were also friendly and would greet you as old friends. There is an old cemetery next to it so we enjoyed reading about old sailors and captain’s years of life etc. while we waited to be seated. I would highly recommend this rustic place to everyone!
Great local place. Mostly kind servers. If you like steak, then get the steak!
Had lunch with a friend. Burgers were excellent. The vibe is warm, friendly and inviting. The bartender, I think she introduced herself as Nancy, was gracious and friendly. Great food, service and vibe.
Wow! Amazing steak. It's probably the best I've ever had. The appetizers were excellent, the wait staff perfect in every sense. Our party of 3 we're a little loud, but they didn't mind. It's a cozy little place, well worth a little nosh after visiting the winery's.
Don't let the buildings 60's decor fool you! Inside is a small bar and a small but cozy dining room. We ordered the clams casino which were fresh and loaded with bacon and butter, yummy. The porterhouse steak is one of the top 3 best steaks I have ever eaten, cooked perfectly to our request and was enough for 2 of us. The mashed cauliflower was superb, creamy buttery and not watery. Will be back every time we are in town. Great bargain! and friendly staff.
I’ve been coming back for 50 years about once every few years. It’s always the same. The marinated shell steak can’t be beat. And we happened to come on Thursday when the dinner is only $25! You get soup or salad the steak with fries or mashed potatoes and a dessert which was Red Velvet Cake with whipped cream. The waitress was wonderful also. We must remember to return more frequently.
I've been eating here since the filet mignon was $16. It's not $16 anymore. The location in jamesport isn't very nice, never really was, but in New York, you kind of excuse the grime and grit. It hasn't been cleaned in 40 years, just depressing. Now, having said that, I would report the steak, while much more expensive and definitely smaller than in 1980 is still delicious and like none other you'll find anywhere. I haven't been everywhere but I think it will be hard to find another like it. If you don't know, it comes to the table and your first reaction is " no I didn't order the chunk of asphalt" But when you insert your knife and fork, you're that much closer to a taste experience that you've never had before. Order it rare, please. Keep in mind everything is al a carte. So be ready for an expensive bill, but it's OK the food is worth it. once a year.
Always have a great experience here. Experienced and friendly waitstaff. Chef never disappoints. Steak cooked perfectly.
The quality of workmanship on our new roof is exceptional with attention to details others might have overlooked!
First time there, loved it. Ordered several apps, everything was so good! Although I ordered the filet, it was over cooked from my order. And I wouldn't do the marinade again, it was too charred. Overall I still give it 5 star and go back again.
Steaks were fabulous, marinade incredible! Service was phenomenal, thank you Terry!!. Highly recommend.
Oh my goodness this place is just amazing - awesome food and a cool old fashioned vibe to it! We are going back again in two weeks - already planned it - and can’t wait! Nancy was our server and she is nothing less than incredible! Really good prices for all the food you get. We both got a marinated steak special that comes with 3 shrimp and a side - we got mashed potatoes and gravy. Also came with a house salad that we both ate every drop!
The food was so wholesome! The steak caprese salad was so delicious! The maple bacon smash burger with sweet potato fries was also amazing. The fries had cinnamon butter to dip with. So good. Service was fabulous. We ate at the bar and Jackie was so personable and kind. We will visit here again for sure.
After 30 years of talking about it with people... hearing everyone else rave about it... my wife and I finally made it to the Elbow Room and we were not disappointed. The food was awesome.. the baked clams are great, the steaks were ABSOLUTELY perfect..the service from our waitress was EXCELLENT! We'll be back again and again!
We came tonight for our Anniversary and the marinated porterhouse was as good as ever . We’ve been coming to the Elbow Room for years and never disappointed. I was surprised at some of the negative reviews .
Been waiting for forever to review this place. 100 out of 5 every time. The steak comes out black and you're like"...what have I done with my life?" And then the first bite comes and oh my god so good. Whatever they marinate it with is the best. The cook is always perfect, the salad is always perfect the fries are always perfect. Everything...perfect. it gets a bit tight and loud inside because...it's small...it's called elbow room for a reason, but it should absolutely not dissuade you from coming in and enjoying a marinated filet. The prices are outrageous as well. A petite filet anywhere else would be double the price and half as good. Wish the fried mushrooms would be a permanent menu item and not just a special. Definitely try it when it's on the specials menu. Will always come here when going to the jamesport area. The best. Go here immediately.
What a great experience it is. It's exactly what the name says and a tight dining room. I had a T-Bone steak cooked to perfection. My wife had the duck that was also delicious. We had fresh Oysters and Shrimp cocktails for appetizers. For dessert we shared a piece of Almond cake. This is a definite return trip restaurant. The staff was very friendly and we had a lot of laughs with them. The price was very reasonable.
The service was fast, the Calamari was fresh and fried perfectly. The marinated burgers were really good. They were a bit under cooked but not raw. All and all a good nights dinner.
Not a fancy place, decor is dated, quarters are tight, as per the name, but food is very good, especially the steaks. This place is an institution on Long Island and glad it looks the same and offers the same great food it always has. Check out the 1958 Menu on the wall. Prices may have changed but not the fare.
Place was accommodating. The name elbow room is no lie, once it gets busy, you're packed in...not good for those that could claustrophobic. The food was good and plentiful. For those that pay with cards, tips are highly suggested to be cash (it's even written on the menu). Perfect time to go is 4pm, right before the wineries close at 5.
Haven't been here in a few years. Had the T-bone special. Very good!!! Only gripe is we got there early and had to hear the manager kvetch about large groups coming in and how to arrange the table and mentioned our table specifically. Made for an uncomfortable meal. The help should keep those conversation out of the dining room. Steak and Manhattan Red were great though.
Went for dinner with group of friends. Very good steak. Definitely one of the best marinades I've had in a long time. Waitress was a sweetheart and service was quick. The only reason it's not 5 star is the place needs some renovations to bring to 2020
Always friendly service, and tasty food. For sure, The Best marinated steak around. You may find a better piece of meat elsewhere, but no finer prepared marinated steak is available anywhere. Been going for years, and see no reason to change.
great marinated filet, came with crispy fries. also loved the cauliflower mash, very tasty. will try creamed spinach next. dessert excellent, toasted almond cake, so light and not too sweet. If you dont mind a tight, no frills space, you should like it. friendly service from I believe the owner?
Been coming here for years for great food and service. The marinade is pretty unique - definitely go for a marinated steak (tbone is the best!) or burger. It comes with shoestring fries which go perfectly. I'd recommend a cup of clam chowder to go with it if you're really hungry.
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the Manhattan clam chowder is awesome. The marinated steaks are so tasty with sweet potato fries. The steak comes with cinnamon butter, which tastes GREAT. The hamburgers, french onion soup, and the clam casinos are all pretty good. But stay away from the baked clams, we did not like them at all they came out gray. The decora is a little dated, but it's much better than before. The service is very good. Every time we go out eat, we usually stop here to eat. Also, for the price that you pay, you will be getting a good meal.
I ate here with my family of four. 2 Adults, 2 children. The bill came out to $100 including a tip, I had a beer. We had 3 burgers, an appetizer an order of chicken fingers. It is a bit on the pricey side, but for the area you have to expect that. With that being said, the food was pretty good. We enjoyed our burgers with the marinade. They cook your food exactly how you ask for it. Service was very good and friendly. It was a bit tight in there but with a name like "elbow room", you have no right to complain. I would go back.
Classic North fork restaurant that's been around most of my life. Great food quaint atmosphere and the marinated steak is the way to go. I went on a night where they had a special, and though everything was good, the steak was a little bit thin. It was tender and well seasoned and perfectly cooked as always, but I was a little disappointed. Next time I'm going for the porterhouse and reliving my childhood memories. Another great option is their marinated burgers. I kind of think that Cliff or whoever is running the restaurant these days are kind of like that guy in the Stephen King novel about a guy who has a Time portal in the the basement of his Diner and can go back 30 years in time and source local grass-fed Non-Commercially steroid-filled beef. Their steaks and…and burgers are always top notch, and their red clam chowder is outstanding. The weekly steak special is a great deal, but if you want the real elbow room experience, come and get the porterhouse or the New York strip you will not be disappointed. I recommend that if there are two of you one orders the marinated steak one orders the non-marinated steak. Then you can compare and decide. Then come back here and weigh in on your thoughts. For me? I'm normally a salt pepper only guy when it comes to steak, but at the elbow room I will only go marinated because it's the only place you can get that unique Elbow room black marinade. A MUST visit.
Cliff's food up and down the menu is always solid and the wait staff is a hoot and take good care of you. The place is dated but intentionally so - it's part of the charm - and I have never found it dirty or things not in good working order. Good beer lineup, not so sure about the wine. My only issue is that it closes at random times; I've been turned away at 730 in the winter and 830 in the high season, for a place that lists 10pm as its closing hour.
Cliff’s Elbow Room Est. 1958 Layout/atmosphere *Cottage; bar area (four TVs; ATM); dining room (seven or eight tables); three parking spots in front Service *Solid Food/drink *House salad (with French dressing) - solid; no cucumbers or tomatoes *Baked clams - Good; mushrooms in the stuffing; not just breadcrumbs and a piece of clam *Porterhouse steak (with French fries & corn) - good; marinade almost like a soy sauce; fries needed salt *Chocolate cake - OK; too dense without moist texture; sweeter chocolate
First visit to this long island institution after a fund day visiting wineries. Reservation for 6:30 and we were seated immediately. Place was packed and I felt like I was the only one there for the first time lol. Great atmosphere. Started with a mixed order of raw clams and oysters. Both were fresh, perfectly shucked and delicious. Wife went with an order of fried calamari which she enjoyed but was nothing”special”. I’ve heard over and over about their legendary marinade so I went with a Marinated rib eye that was on special. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. The marinade was very good, but the real game changer was the delicious compound garlic butter. All and all a low key very good meal. You can see why they have the reputation that they do.
I've heard so many great things about this place, it was time we finally tried it. The marinaded steak is delicious, but I'll make the drive out to Kenny's road next time for what seems like a larger steak with a slightly tastier marinade. I will say though, we were treated kindly and we were not rushed out despite how busy it was, and they actually sat us at the next available table even though it was much larger than the 2 of is needed. I will agree we enjoyed our meal, but our loyalty lies with Cliff's Elbow East.
Not bad for a steak place out east but a a little pricey for the food you get. Small old school atmosphere was a lite dated but the overall dinner was nice. With so many different places to eat on the north shore of long island, im not sure if i will go back.
I would normally have given 5 stars but tonight the clams were terrible and we sat at a table and could hear the loud & obnoxious bar tender talk off the ear of customers who didn’t seem very interested in her talking. We couldn’t get out fast enough I’ll be going to the other location from now on this was not an enjoyable experience. There are ways to talk and interact w the guests w out putting out all the other customers, I was only there a few minutes & know her entire life story 🤫🤐. We couldn’t hear each other talk during our meal. It was that loud!!! Food is normally very good but not tonight 😢😞
Old time steakhouse but sad to say my steak did not come out as ordered.
Despite all the outstanding reviews our experience was a bit different. The service was horrible. As our food was served the waitress asked if everything was good and didn't even wait for a reply before moving on and she never came back. We were never asked if we wanted dessert so we just requested the check and left. Burger was delicious. However there were no onions in the French Onion soup and the cheese wasn't very browned. I would try the Laurel location next time to see if the service is better.
Place is charming, service very good, but food was not. Got pasta for kids and it was over-cooked. A steak salad came over-cooked too, with rubbery meat that felt like it came out of the freezer. Every something so simple like mozzarella stick was unsavory. Looks like they are trying to cut corners using store-bought, frozen items at costumers's expense and for prices more suited for fresh, first-rate food.
Did not live up to expectations; very disappointed. We went to Cliff's for my daughter's 17th birthday after reading positive reviews. She loves steak and thought it would be "The Place" to go. I made reservations and we arrived on time only to sit for 40 minutes in the crowded bar area. Not attempt was made to offer us a drink or any kind of compensation for the wait time, even though I had told the hostess we were there for a special occasion. When we sat, it was in the bar and the waiter had to yell for us to hear him. We made a joke about it but when you spend $300 for a dinner for five, its's not very funny. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and the scallops, shrimp and flounder were tasteless. My daughter enjoyed her steak but my husband, who ordered the T-bone, found it very fatty. Our first round of gin and tonics were fine but the second round were so weak I never drank it. At that point, I didn't bother sharing my disappointment, I just wanted to leave. Suffice it to say, the next time I want a quality piece of steak, I will go to the butcher and make it at home for that exorbitant price.
Not a place for kids. The first word from our server was "Are you ready to order?" Nothing was mentioned about the specials and being that it was Saint Patrick's Day corned beef was only brought up after we asked. The food was okay the service was not great. We felt like more of a bother being that we had children there. The staff spoke to some of the regulars at their tables but not us. No one welcomed us to the restaurant or even said goodbye on the way out. When the bill was placed down the waitress mentioned how well-behaved the children were . The only nice thing they said to us all night -- looking for a tip. The crowd seems to be there more by reputation of what this place used to be like, then the way it actually is now. I've been there once, I will never go back.
I have been going here for over 30 years and can no longer give it another chance. Basically the steaks and famous stuffed clams are good, the rest of the menu really needs attention. My wife ordered mashed potatoes that were obviously instant flakes, the onion soup was not m ade from scratch it was bouillon cubes. It is not a cheap restaurant so it is tough to justify these expensive items being so low quality. This place is coasting by on reputation.
Wow cannot believe they have the nerve to charge $22 for these 6 frozen shrimp they bought from Costco and served with frozen fries both cooked in dirty oil. What a shame. Place is old and outdated 2 stars because staff was friendly and waitress was attentive. Didn't like she kept telling everyone how she had to work that day even though it was her day off. Ladies room was gross and I will definitely never return.
Disappointed 😬. I just got home from my dinner there and I am so disappointed. Having been a customer for over 40 years I am not happy to post this. The marinade has changed. My wife and I share 2 entrées one of them was the signature T-bone marinated. It was not even near the tried and true steak that has kept me coming. I am sad to say this but I will give it one more visit but if they don’t go back to the original marinate it will be my last visit. The quality of the steak was good but the marinade was far from what I last had. I will hope that my feedback will be helpful and my next visit takes me back to a happy place.
We had always heard about this place and were in the area so we decided to try it. We were surprised how outdated and dingy the dining room was. Definitely could use a good cleaning and makeover. We got the marinated steaks... once you get past the burned meat, the flavor was there. Our steaks were literally crusty and black. Yuk. The sides were ok, baked potato was small. The staff was the saving grace... very friendly and nice.
I ordered the over 20 dollar prime rib sandwich. It was horrible. About two ounces of unidentifiable scraps cooked to death on a flat top with cheese. It covered, not filled, about a third of the bread. The second star is for the fries. I really didn't mind that the place is a dive with a filthy restroom. I was sorely disappointed in the sandwich. When I left, I did see a clue of decent looking burgers being served. Not beef jerky on a club roll.Beverage and service were adequate. I miss the one in Southold That was pretty good.
I ordered broiled flounder to take out at $25. It smelled bad and tasted bad. I couldn't eat it and offered it to my (non-fussy) dog who wouldn't eat it either. Don't order that! $25 that I will never get back. Cipps and salad were good but under the circumstances, very expensive!
NOT CELIAC SAFE. Asked for a filet migot, was asked if I wanted the marinade, asked what was in it, told her no Gluten, she said I should have it plain. Great 100% fine with a plain steak… I am all about the meats. Start eating, don’t feel so great, figured I could be just tired as that’s how my symptoms typical start. Get the bill, it’s itemized as marinated. One would think going on a slow early evening where your the only table, things would be seamless…avoiding confrontation and feeling unwell, we paid and left. It’s so uncomfortable to argue an allergy when the damage is done and your not actively grabbing your chest with difficulty breathing. I’ll be in the bathroom and my bed, Thanks for days of suffering.
This place has gone down hill…..It’s dirty…the amount of dust, dirt and dinge on the walls were just stained from lack of cleaning or care..Even the food did not taste fresh….The salad was old and tasted bagged and what’s sad is you have farms all around there with fresh produce…..I can’t get over the lack of cleanliness….it needs a major cleaning…..The oil and vinegar bottles were absolutely disgusting and the oil appeared rancid and old….Sodas were flat….Service was ok but something really smelled in there…..the board of health or someone should do a walkthrough…..Steak was ok but for $50 you would be better suited going elsewhere…..
We usually stop by on our way home. We both agreed it was a disappointing visit. The marinated steak barely had any flavor, the fries were cold and the broiled flounder was overcooked. We have been annual visitors since 1968 and this was the first time were disappointed.
Don’t go. Had dinner before a show 4 people 3 had steak one had lobster tail and shrimp. The steak were very salty and not good tasting the seafood dinner had no taste. The clams casino were not good All together to pricey not worth it
The food and service here was atrocious. The seafood was mid tier, and the clam chowder is watery and didn’t have any clams! The chicken is cold, rubbery, and plain disgusting. The pasta here is from a box and the sauce is watery. The worse part is the service. We enter the restaurant and we had to wait over 10 minutes before they sat us, and all the tables were empty! Once we got our food, it was all cold. They didn’t once ask us how are food was. Another thing that we didn’t like was the fact that there was a service charge on top of a tip. I’m going to pay a percentage of my tip from a service charge? This restaurant is horrible, do not come here.
First, we arrived at the Elbow Room at 4:30 p.m. and were seated at 5:45 p.m. Second, I ordered the surf and turf(lobster and steak) The lobster smelled as though it had Cleaning Supply The steak was charbroiled burnt and was unseasoned. Lastly, we saw this place on News 12 and do not recommend this place to anyone!!!! It's extremely tight and there was no social distancing. We just so happened to be placed in a decent spot within the restaurant...Good luck if you go here!!! Bring your Tums!
Steak was grizzel. Marinade was flat and tasted like bland tertaky. Oysters AND cocktail sauce was frozen and hadn't thawed completely. I was a big fan of the all the Elbow room restaurants. Tonight I brought my friends and our wives to that them to what I remember to be the best steaks on Long Island. I was actually embarrassed by the meals they serves. We still tipped the waitress 20%, in cash. It was not her fault. But the $340 bill ( no alcoholic mind you) was a waste of money. I wouldn't even take my left overs home to my dogs!
Unfortunately, just a bad experience over all. I'm 56 years old and I've only written one bad review in my life, and if I ever sent back a meal, it had to be really bad. I came in with a group of 10. The atmosphere is what it is, kind of run down, but I'm good with that if you serve a good meal. Tonight, I ordered the porterhouse, medium-rare. It looked good when served, however when I cut into the center, it was well done. (Borderline medium-well because it had the slightest bit of pink.) I said to the waitress, "I'm sorry, but this steak is over cooked." She disagreed and told me that the steak had some pink and therefore was cooked how I ordered it, medium-rare. I couldn't believe it; and the rest of my table couldn't believe it either. She made a fuss, but then took it back. A few minutes later she returned with a new steak. The new steak had to have been the result of the chef being annoyed that I sent it back. It resembled a porterhouse, and was cooked medium-rare, but this thing was absolutely disgusting. I could barely cut through the NY strip side, and the filet was as thin as a pounded veal chop! I can't believe that a chef would be that unprofessional and send out a piece of meat that was clearly not meant to be served. Perhaps it out of spite. I don't know, but here's your bad review. Additionally, my girlfriend's lobster roll tasted like low tide but she ate it, and there were a few other minor issues. So, my advice to all, there are many better choices out there for dinner. Go enjoy!
11/29/24 Jamesport Cliff's Elbow Room. I ordered a poterhouse steak ginger ale and my wife ordered a filet mignon and a maple old fashioned. I was served a porterhouse and my wife was given a SHELL steak. The filet mignon served did not look right so we questioned the waitress who insisted it was a filet mignon. When she returned 10 minues later to see how we were doing, we questioned her again and at that tume she checked with the kitchen and they had messed up and given my wife a SHELL steak that was not good at all...dry and tough. The porterhouse was not that good also. Next time we are looking for a great steak, we'll travel to a Scotto Brothers retaurant such as; Blackstone, Insignia or Rare 650. I suggest you do the same.
Not sure if there are new owners or what happened, but has gone way downhill. This was one of my favorite places, the steaks were great. Now it seems they no longer marinate the steaks but “dip them”. Nothing at all like it use to be. The salad was literally lettuce and some shaved carrot, also a big drop down from the past. To top it off, our server was rushing us the whole time. Shame this once great place went so far down.
