Snappy dog! I passed by about once a year and always stop in. Had the Tennessee dog, mustard, onions, chili all topped with coleslaw. Unbelievable!!
What a treat! Having experienced Chicago style dogs in Chicago, I can tell you that they do Chicago proud. The food, the ambiance and the service all combine to offer a very special dining experience.
Best chili burgers and fries, unfortunately some of the staff are rude.
Im something of a regular at this Carneys, and Felipe at the grill always treats me right. The burgers and fries are always fresh and quick. The banana shake is lovely. The quality is better than in n out and usually quicker. This is my real world happy place. Ive never regretted coming here, and will keep coming here every week for as long as I live in LA.
Simple but well executed chili burger. The chili is thick and flavorful. The fries were OK, but definitely could have been better. The service was good. Love that it's inside an old school train. Prices are reasonable.
My dining companion was surprised I had never been to Carneys as it is so well known and longstanding, so we went for lunch. Its claim to fame is that the whole thing is built into a couple old rail cars. We each had the New York (mustard and sauerkraut) and shared a large fries. The dog itself was good, but I found the bun to be soggy. The shoestring fries were good. Overall, I thought it was good, but for me, once was enough.

They don’t just care about their customers—they care about their employees, and most importantly, their FOOD. Carney’s takes no shortcuts. Every bite is made with top-tier quality ingredients, and you taste that commitment in every meal. They say they “probably have the best hot dogs in the world”—and I don’t disagree—but let me set the record straight: they absolutely have the best french fries in all the land. Golden, crispy perfection every single time. For me, it’s always the Jesse Burger, please! Carney’s is more than just a restaurant; it’s a consistent pillar of excellence and comfort. This is one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. I got a chili cheeseburger, carney dog, and the trainwreck fries which are a replica of In N Out’s animal style fries. Absolutely top tier food! Perfection. Gonna buy a shirt next time I go.

Carney’s is always an iconic stop and never disappoints! I ordered a burger, chili cheese fries, and a hot dog with family since we were in the area—classic staples that were as delicious as ever. The food is consistently great, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Even though they were doing some work on the location during my visit, it didn’t take away from the charm or the reliability that Carney’s is known for. It’s one of those places you can count on for great food and good vibes every time. Highly recommend for anyone craving classic, feel-good eats!
"FAR SUPERIOR to In n out" Totally recommend the Angus burger, add bacon, grilled onion and 1000 island dressing, and also add the split and grilled hot dog, for the ultimate burger dog experience not available anywhere on the planet. To date this is the best burger in America! ##Nofeardining tucked neatly in some 40's era railroad cars sits a los angeles icon. DO NOT MISS!!
Always terrific chili. Great snap to hot dogs! We met random people relaxing with delicious meals too. Train car is so special.
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and have always had wonderful experiences. Today, in celebration of National Hot Dog Day, I decided to visit again and was not disappointed. The hot dogs were fantastic, the place was impeccably clean, and the employees were exceptionally friendly. Highly recommend!

Carney's Hot Dog / chili, mustard, tomato, onion - 5 🌟! Chicagoan / mustard, relish, onions - 5 🌟! I love the Sunset Blvd location for Carney's, and I knew about the Studio City location but had never been before. There is no real reason for that, but I was in the area to take my cat to a vet visit. I decided it was the perfect time to stop by and see what this location was like. It is just as great as their Sunset spot. They seem to have more space to spread out, but like the other location, the main feature is their rail car design, which gives the entire experience a fun visual element. I opted for their patio seating and enjoyed watching the Ventura Blvd travelers going by. I have a standard order for Carney's, a Carney dog for the chili, and a Chicagoan for no chili. I love the thick slices of tomatoes mixed with the chili, and the mustard mixed with relish is amazing on the other. They have a bigger menu that includes sides, hamburgers, and other sandwiches. Great spot with a cool vibe and awesome food.

Carney's is a great diner. The experience of eating in an old Railroad car is wonderful and that ambience is matched by the amazing food. Everything is cooked to order and all the employees are wonderful. I tried a Carney's Dog with Chili Cheese fries and my friend had a cheeseburger. All of them were delicious and you recieve generous toppings on everything. To the point that next time I think I'll just get regular fries cause there was enough chili on the hot dog for both it and to top the fries. Not that I'm complaining. Everything was a delight and I look forward to coming back again. They also have some great old school shirts for sale.
This is a fun little spot for a burger and a bit of nostalgia. The line can get quite long, but I was lucky and only had a few minutes wait this time. The burger is made to order and very messy (in a good way). The fries are top notch. Seating is limited indoors, but an outdoor seating area is also available. The service is friendly, especially for this type of establishment, and the prices are reasonable. This ois a very kid-friendly place, and expect lots of families on the weekends.

Probably the worst hot dog I’ve ever eaten. So, bad I didn’t finish. The quality of the sausage is BAD, the skin is just hard and chewy. Don’t come here if you’re looking for a good hot dog, please. What a disappointment!
Very disappointing experience. The fries were cold, the sausage was burnt, and the food was extremely greasy. The bread was completely soggy and soaked in oil, which made the whole meal unpleasant and hard to eat. I honestly cannot believe I paid around 40 dollars for this low quality, poorly prepared food. This was easily one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. Absolutely not worth the money, and I will not be coming back.
